Chapter 266
Hiccups POV:
It's been three weeks since Blanca told me about her pregnancy and in that time, a lot has happened. To begin with, we'd told everyone about Blanca's pregnancy and as expected, everyone had different reactions to the news. My other wives were happy for Blanca but I could see a bit of jealousy in their eyes my mom was overjoyed and could hardly wait to see the little one, my dad froze up for a full two minutes before smiling and slapping my back to congratulate me, Gobber joked that he hoped the child wouldn't cause as much trouble as I did when I was young, Snotlout joked about where he could see the egg Blanca laid, the twins asked me how babies happened, Fishleggs was jumping up and down in joy for me while shaking my hand to congratulate me and Verta was excited for her sister. I of course also let Toothless know who much to my surprise walked up to Blanca and began sniffing her belly as if he were trying to get a sniff of the unborn child making us all chuckle.
Then there's Brant and Chara, I sat them both down and had a long talk with them how although me and Blanca would be having a child of our own blood, our love for them wouldn't change. The only thing that would change is we wouldn't have as much time for them as we did before since a baby needed a lot of attention. It took a while for Chara to understand as was expected of her since she was still young, but she got it in the end. She did promise to try and be a good big sister to her future baby sister or brother but then sadly this led to her asking a question I had been dreading since the day we adopted them. She had asked me where the child in Blanca's belly had come from with Brant wanting to know the same thing but fortunately, I only had to give Brant the talk while the girls took care of explaining things to Chara. As expected, the kids couldn't look any of in the eye for a week, so things were awkward between us when it came to training sessions with the ninja.
Speaking of training, Brant's issues with his spear had been solved in a way that surprised everyone, including me when out of nowhere, Asami showed up with a message from the master of the Dragons Forge. The master had sensed a disturbance with the magic from one of the items from my own forge and requested it for an examination, so we gave the kitsune the spear and she took off for an hour before returning with it. She claimed that the master had told her the weapon was ready to evolve which shocked all of us since we didn't know this could happen with any of the weapons. She then gave me a letter with a full explanation on what was going on and explained that the weapons I wield are often already at their peak but the weapons from the forge grow with their wielder and when they do, they gain new abilities and new appearances. The reason the spear had been feeling off is it's been trying to change on its own but for it to go through its evolution, the weapon has to be placed within the silver dragons maw to give it the necessary magic, needed for the change to happen.
After that, I took Brant to the forge and had him place his spear on the alter in the silver dragons before we stepped out and allowed the muzzle to close on the spear. We waited an hour before it reopened to reveal the spear and at first glance it didn't look like it had changed at all except for the handle becoming red in the middle with the ends remaining the same black. Other than the color change it looked the same, but that thought was changed when Brant picked it up and told me he could feel the changes within it. We went to the coliseum to see what the spears new capabilities were, and we were not the least bit disappointed with the new abilities it was granted.
To begin with the blade can triple in length with the bottom forming a hole in it making a hook and furthermore, an identical blade can extend from the other end, making it a double-bladed spear. Along with that, the tips of the blades could be launched at speeds that could create enough force to go right through a three-foot-thick wooden target and then continue to fly and imbed itself into the wall six feet away. This lead to an all new form of training for him under Fire since he needed to learn how to properly handle a double ended spear since it was different to using a regular spear while also needing to teach him how to aim and run at the same time. Still though, he had been doing well with his training and would be a true warrior with it with a few months of training to help him fully master his new weapon.
Speaking of weapons, I had a surprise when Robyne and Mabh came to me claiming they want to try getting weapons from the dragons' forge as well. As anyone could guess, I wasn't too big on it since when they were in their wolf forms, their human bodies which would have their weapons would be left alone with the weapons unguarded. Along with this, Brant and Chara had earned their right to enter and be chosen by their weapon while the girls had not undergone any training and preferred to mind the wolf packs in the forest. Brant convinced me to give them a chance though so I'd been planning a test to see how well they'd do on their own and decided to give them the same test I gave Brant so they'd be going from one end of Dragon Island to the other. We were still setting a date for it though since they wanted time to practice their forest and dragon handling skills before they took on what was waiting for them on Dragon Island.
Besides that, things had been pretty quiet with me spending most of my time sitting in Toothless' saddle in the sky while making plans for the new baby. We decided to turn one of the guest rooms into a nursery not just for the little one but for all the future babies we welcome into our lives and when they were old enough, they'd be moved into their own rooms. This nursery would require a lot of preparations such as a crib for the baby to sleep in, a rocking chair for the caretaker to sit in when taking care of the baby, a carpet for them to play on instead of the cold marble floor, a table to change the diapers on and of course toys to play with. My mom had already began making a stuffed dragon for the baby while my dad had ordered Gobber to make an axe for them like he did when I was a baby but this got him in a lot of trouble with my mom and my wives. As for Gobber, he got ordered by my mom and my to never make the axe or any weapon for the baby and if he did then they'd shove his head in the forge and hold him there till it was nothing but ashes.
Now though, I was enjoying a bit of down time in the garden beneath the cherry blossom tree with Blanca at my side with her head resting against my shoulder and my prosthetic arm around her as I gently rubbed her belly with my left, trying to feel the child within. It was a moment I felt truly content with my life and would be happy to just enjoy how peaceful it truly was for me when I didn't have anything to worry about. I knew things were also going to be peaceful on Berk since the Regatta was coming up and although I'd never been a big fan of it, I'd learnt to appreciate the simpler things which includes watching boats sail slowly across the harbor. Sadly, like all good things the peace didn't last long since it was at that moment Astrid flew above us on Stormfly and yelled out.
"HICCUP, HATE TO RUIN YOUR RELAXATION TIME BUT STOICK WANTS YOU ON BERK TO HELP GATHER THE SHEEP FROM NOT SO SILENT SVENS FARM THAT HAVE ESCAPED AND ARE RUNNING ALL OVER THE VILLAGE!" I sighed in annoyance before looking up at her.
"ALRIGHT, JUST LET ME GET TOOTHLESS AND I'LL BE THERE IN A FEW MINUTES!" She nodded before her and Stormfly took off while I turned to Blanca. "Sorry Blanca, looks like-"She cut me off by putting a finger to my lips.
"You have duties on Berk that you must tend to, I understand." She then placed her hand on her belly. "And so, does the little one so goes tend to it and then come back." I smiled at her before going to find Toothless and knowing him, he was either with his family or with the dimensional furies who'd begun cozying up to him since the fight with Hinote and this had made him quiet the ladies dragon.
Half-an-hour later
It's been half an hour since Astrid came and informed me about the sheep running wild around Berk and in that time, a simple sheep roundup had been turned into a sheep catching contest for me and the rest of my generation since other riders were busy with regatta preparations. It ended when everyone caught three sheep which of course lead to the tie breaker in the form of Sven's prized black sheep that was still missing. I am a little annoyed to say that Snotlout beat me to it after Gobber ran into mine and Toothless' path to get our attention and let us know that my dad wanted to see me. This brings us to now with me and Toothless following my dad down towards a boat on the docks as he said.
"Hiccup, I'm leaving town for a couple of days for official business." He then pulled me in close and whispered. "I've managed to locate wood on Loki Island that's lighter and stronger than anything we've ever seen." His voice then got a little higher. "We're building our ship out of it." He then coughed and let me go. "I'm leaving you in charge until I get back so until then, you'll be-" I cut him off.
"Acting chief with my main priority being setting up stands and banners for the regatta while also firing everyone up to watch boats slowly sail across the harbor and wondering why my mother isn't doing this." My answer came in the form of Cloudjumper coming to land on the ship as my mother said from on top his back.
"Because she'll be going with your father and Skullcrusher to ensure they don't get into any trouble or fights along the way." My dad then said.
"Fights are exactly why we have the Regatta, since it's a good way to blow off some steam and take a break from the constant need to fight we Vikings have." As if the gods wanted to help him prove his point, two men on the opposite dock began beating each other with fish. "I rest my case." I nodded and said.
"I see your point, but couldn't we go with something a little more modern." He made his way towards the ship that Skullcrusher was sitting.
"The Regatta is a tradition Hiccup and it has worked for many a generation." I nodded.
"Alright dad, I got it and don't worry" Toothless walked up next to me as I rubbed his head. "we got this." He smiled and boarded the ship.
"That's my boy." They then took off. "We'll be back in a few days." I smiled and waved to them as their ship vanished into the distance, but it was at that moment, I sensed a presence behind me and immediately turned around while releasing my prosthetics punch dagger and saw Fishleggs right behind me.
"Fishleggs, you shouldn't sneak up on people." He stepped back.
"Sorry, but I couldn't help overhearing that you're in charge of the regatta." I nodded. "Do you know what an honor that is?" He turned around. "How do I find the words?"
"Fishleggs, it's just a boat race." He turned to face me with a look that screamed 'are you serious?'.
"Hiccup, that's like saying a gronkle is just a dragon." Meatlug walked past and towards a large mass that was covered by a large tarp before Fishleggs lifted the end and let her in.
"And what exactly is that you guys have over there?"
"Sorry Hiccup but it's top secret stuff now that I'm old enough to continue the Ingerman family tradition." He was jumping from foot to foot in joy. "I can finally take part in the Regatta and I'm so excited." He then hugged Meatlug. "Oh, girl just hold me." I shrugged.
"Well good luck with that." I then turned to Toothless. "Alright, let's go find the rest of the riders and see if they can keep an eye on the sheep if they swarm the village." He let out a growl before we took off and fortunately for me, it didn't take long as they were all in the dragon training academy with Tuffnut explaining the rules of dragon races but it was when Tuffnut brought in, breaking a sheep in two that I decided to intervene. "Hey, I hate to break it to you guys but I'm afraid that there isn't going to be any dragon races in the future." I could tell they were a little annoyed by this and Snotlout had no trouble voicing his annoyance by saying.
"Hey, who made you chief?" Astrid was the one who answered.
"Stoick!"
"So, who made Stoick chief?" I gave him a look that asked him if he was serious. "Just wondering."
"I'm sorry but I've been given strict instructions to prepare for the Regatta." They all groaned and moaned in annoyance making me sigh and turn to Astrid.
"Astrid, could you please back your husband up here." She looked at me for a moment.
"Okay!" She sighed and gestured to me. "Guys, you heard the acting chief declare it so no dragon racing." I smiled.
"Thankyou!" I then took a breath. "Now with that out of the way, I need to begin assigning jobs to each of you to prepare for the Regatta." They all groaned before I began passing out the jobs to prepare for the Regatta.
Next day
Yesterday had been a busy day since the sheep belonging to Not so silent Sven had gotten out a second time which meant me, and the others had to gather them again. I couldn't blame the flock though since the sound of Sven's voice when he was screaming was enough to get even on my nerves since it really grated one's ear drums. I am happy to say that Blanca and Hadasa knew I was having a bit of a rough day and prepared my favorites for dinner while also preparing a bath with bath salts to relax me when I got home. Following the dinner, I got to enjoy a little down time with the kids before they were to be tucked into bed for the night and then I enjoyed some peace with a good book in the library and then retiring to bed for the evening.
Now I was sitting in bed with Hadasa on my right while Blanca was on my left, both sound asleep but I wasn't sure where Astrid had gone off to while we slept in. I had just shrugged it off, figuring she just went out to get a little early morning training or to take Stormfly for a flight in the mornings light. Now as I lay there in bed, I went through my morning ritual of checking all over the island and Berk to see what was happening and if there was any trouble I could help with. I'd just finished up with the my inspection of the island and I am happy to say that everything seemed to be running smoothly with no issues with any of my islands inhabitants meaning it was time to check how things were on Berk and whispered.
"Now let's see how things are going on Berk with the Regatta preparations." I switched to the automatons I set up on Berk and the moment I did, my eyes widened since I was looking at the rest of my generation, including Astrid and excluding Fishleggs, doing exactly what I told them not to do and to make matters worse, everyone was enjoying it, making me groan. "Why do they never listen to orders when I'm chief?" I slowly got out of bed while being careful not to wake Blanca and Hadasa as I left since I didn't want to disturb their gentle slumber.
45 minutes later
It's been fifteen minutes since I was able to bring an end to the dragon race, gather the riders into the Great Hall and then call a town meeting to discuss what was going on. Now I was sitting at a table at the back of the Great Hall with the riders who partook in the dragon race, Toothless behind me and all the villagers in front of us. Presently, I was looking at all the people in front of us who were chanting 'DRAGON RACE' despite me trying to tell them to settle down so I could speak. I growled and signaled Toothless behind me who immediately fired out a plasma blast that went over their heads and out the door, silencing everyone and making me smile back at Toothless who simply growled before I turned back to the people and said.
"Alright, I know you all enjoyed watching the riders doing what I ordered them not to do and what they shall be punished for doing later on." I could hear them groaning at this before Tuffnut said.
"I didn't hear you order us to do anything." He then turned to Ruffnut. "Did you hear him?" She shook her head.
"Nope, didn't hear a thing." I glared at them before I turned back to the crowd.
"Listen, I know you all want to blow off some steam, but my dad gave the order that we do so by having a good old fashioned regatta." There were groans. "Yeah, I know how you all feel since it is pretty boring but it's a good way for all of us to blow of steam without beating each other up." It was then Astrid leaned in and said.
"You know your parents won't be back for a few days and dragon races are a good way to blow off steam as well."
"I know but it's still their orders to stick to tradition."
"Coming from the heir who lives on another island full of different environments and rides a dragon."
"That's different since if my father finds out that I blew off the age long tradition of the regatta for dragon racing."
"What your dad doesn't know won't hurt and besides" She leaned in and whispered into my ear. "the dragon races made me real hot and a full one might heat me up for tonight." I immediately turned to her and could tell she was serious so with this information and the people demanding it, how could I say no and turned back to the people.
"Alright, we'll have on dragon race but then it's back to the regatta." There were cheers before we left to go and prepare for the race.
Half an hour later
Everyone, including my family, the wolfwalkers and Arachne were now gathered at the dragon academy which is where the big race would begin and in order to prepare, we'd gone over the rules in which the sheep would start off at Sven's farm and be released to travel all over the island. After that, me and the other racers would set out to find and collect the sheep before bringing them back here to the academy where they'd be dropped into baskets. Along with this, Snotlout had recommended we have teams and it was agreed so it was me and Astrid against Snotlout and the twins who had named their team 'Snotnuts' which brought a good laugh to me and Astrid. We did try to involve Fishleggs but he turned us down in favor of preparing for the regatta and actually told me that he was disappointed that I gave into the demands of the masses before going back beneath the tarp with Meatlug to finish work.
Now the race had begun, and I think me, and Astrid had done pretty well together with our dragons, allowing us to work our way up to a tie with team Snotnuts. Now I was on the back of Toothless and watching Snotlout and Astrid go after the prized black sheep which served as the tie breaker for this race. I was watching closely as they closed in on it, waiting for Snotlout to pull out like he always does, allowing Astrid to take the black sheep and victory with it. It was then as they closed in on each other that I realized, Snotlout wasn't going to pull out but before I could call out anything, they collided with both Stormfly and Astrid at the bottom, beneath Snotlout and Hookfang. Seeing this I cried out.
"Astrid!" We then dive bombed towards her and Stormfly and before we touched the ground, I jumped off and ran to her at full speed as she sat up while gripping her left arm that was clearly broken as she glared at Snotlout.
"My arm, I can't believe you." I gently helped her up while glaring at Snotlout who rushed over to Hookfang before quickly mounting him as he said.
"Alright, I'll go get Gothi." He then went for the black sheep. "Right after I drop this off." I growled and released my snake whip before swinging it at the black sheep, wrapping around its body and pulling it into my arms as Snotlout looked at me in shock, not noticing the tree branch which struck him in the chest, knocking him off Hookfang and onto the ground, making me smile.
"That's what you get for choosing victory over helping someone in need." I put the sheep down and turned to Astrid. "We'll take care of him and the sheep after you're healed." I pulled out my mystic Ganges water and began tending to her arm. "And this is why I always carry a lot of my gear with me, even when I'm just going around Berk." Astrid just smiled as I pulled the water off.
"And for that. I am grateful." She lifted her now healed arm and flexed her fingers a bit before we picked up the black sheep and took off to the dragon academy to claim our win.
Half an hour later
It's been twenty minutes since me and Astrid claimed victory, but it took us longer to get back since Stormfly was still a bit dizzy from the crash. After we claimed victory, we gathered everyone back to the Great Hall to discuss the regatta preparations which brings us to now, with me trying to regain control of the people who were chanting for another dragon race. It was then I decided to save Toothless the trouble and get them to quiet down another way and activated my Noe mask before looking up and letting out a low powered sonic blast since I didn't want anyone's ears bleeding. I got the desired results of everyone quieting down, making me smile beneath my mask that quickly returned to its original form as a tusk shaped earing as I said.
"Alright, now that I've got your attention, I'd like to say I did enjoy the dragon race, but we agreed there'd only be one before we got back to the regatta." There were groans before Snotlout walked up and said.
"Hey, Hiccups right!" I immediately turned to him since I figured he'd want the dragon races to go on. "Let's start getting ready for the awesome boat race since he couldn't beat team Snotnuts again." Astrid didn't take kindly to this.
"Come on Hiccup." I turned to her.
"Astrid, Stormfly needs to recover before she can fly at full speed again or you'll both run the risk of crashing and getting hurt." It was then Snotlout decided to push his luck.
"See, he can't race since he doesn't even have a teammate." It was then someone in the crowd asked.
"Why not Blanca, she's got her own dragon." I could hear murmurs of agreement, but they were all silenced when I glared and growled at them.
"Do you all honestly expect me to put the life of my unborn child which my wife is carrying, at risk so you all can get a little entertainment." Everyone looked down in shame at this before an idea popped into my head that would succeed in both making the people happy and knocking Snotlout down a few pegs again. "I do have one person in mind though."
1 hour later
It's been an hour since we had the meeting in the Great Hall and since then, I've been able to recruit Fishleggs as my new teammate after he revealed what his secret project was. Turns out it was the boat he intended to use for the regatta with the sail having an image of him embracing Meatlug, the head of the ship having a small wooden gronkle head and at the front were two small sails like the ones on my ship. On his first voyage though, he took off on top of Meatlug who had a metal sailors hat on which is when things went wrong in the form of Meatlug getting sea sick and throwing up lava onto the deck which sprung a leak, sinking the ship at which point Fishleggs was happy to join me.
Now we were back in the dragon training academy ready to go with Gothi getting ready to drop the purple silk handkerchief to signal us to go and I was ready to go. As she was about to drop her arm though, someone cried out my name in a voice I had been dreading since the moment we began these dragon races. I turned to the owned of the voice and saw none other than my dad walking into the ring with my mom and their dragons walking behind him and he was giving me a look that demanded answers. I groaned in annoyance since I knew this was coming but it was still a pain so knowing it would be a pain to hold it off, I dismounted Toothless as I said.
"Dad, you and mom are back early." I began walking towards them. "I can explain." He looked at.
"I hope so" He then gestured around us. "because these do not look like regatta decorations to me."
"Well you see dad, as you know being a chief means making difficult choices for the good of the people and I had to make one of those difficult decisions." He gestured for me to go on. "So, I replaced the regatta with dragon racing since it was a more exciting way for everyone to blow off steam." I could feel my dad's hard stare as he asked.
"And you did this by yourself?" I looked at the other riders who either looked away or whistled innocently before turning back to my dad.
"Yeah, it was just me." He leaned in so his face was a foot away from mine.
"Totally contradicting my orders?"
"Yes!"
"Well I guess there's only one thing left for me to do." I closed my eyes to prepare for his loud yelling as he placed a hand on my shoulder. "Run the dragon race." I felt my eyes widen as I turned to him.
"What?" He smiled.
"You heard me." I looked to my mom who simply smiled and shrugged before my dad turned me around. "If we're going to do it, we're going to do it right." He pushed me towards the riders. "Get everyone together, I have some ideas."
2 minutes later
It's been minutes since my parents arrived back and my dad had already thought of a way to improve the dragon races a little and his way of doing so was with face paint. This brings us to now with team Snotnuts painting patterns on their face with green paint, with the exception of Tuffnut who just shoved his face into the bowl of paint before wiping it off his eyes. Me and Fishleggs on the other hand used red paint with Fishleggs putting spots on his face and me doing stripes with arrow heads pointing down. I turned to my dad with a smile.
"Face paint was a great idea dad." He smiled.
"Well it does give a warrior feel to it."
"Yeah, to be honest I can't remember the last time I wore face paint for something other than the traditional ceremony." He chuckled.
"Well you'll be using it a lot more often for these races." He then walked away to begin the announcements and made his way to a chest before holding out his hands and announcing. " WELCOME TO THE FIRST ANNUAL BERK DRAGON RACE!" He then opened the chest releasing six terrible terrors as people cheered. "WE HAVE TWO TEAMS," He gestured to Snotlout and the twins. "THE GREEN TEAM, TEAM SNOTNUTS!" He then gestured to me and Fishleggs. "AND THE RED TEAM, TEAM HICLEGGS!" Hearing our team name, I turned to Fishleggs with a raised eyebrow but he just smiled and said.
"I thought of that." My dad replied.
"Yes Fishleggs, that's quite apparent." He then turned to the crowd. "ALRIGHT, EACH SHEEP IS WORTH ONE POINT EXCEPT THE BLACK SHEEP WHICH IS WORTH FIVE AND I HAVE APPOINTED A REFEREE TO ENSURE THERE'S NO FUNNY BUSINESS!" Astrid walked up next to him on Stormfly as they looked at the twins when mentioning the cheating bit making Tuffnut turn to his sister and ask.
"Why does he always look directly at us when he says that?" My dad just continued to announce.
"THE WINNER OF TODAYS RACE WILL HAVE THEIR PORTRAIT HUNG IN THE GREAT HALL AND A FEAST THROWN IN THEIR HONOR!" Snotlout then replied to this by saying.
"Might as well just call it the feast of snot." I smirked as he realized how this sounded. "Snotfeast, the feast of snot." I rolled my eyes as Gothi held up the material while my dad asked.
"Are we ready?" We all got ready with me and Toothless smiling at each other as we got ready to take off before the horn was blown and Gothi dropped her arm and we took off over my dad before turning around and taking off to begin the race.
Half-an-hour later
I was standing back in the arena only now Snotlout and the twins had won after claiming the black sheep to break the tie of twenty-five points. Right now, I was looking at Snotlout and the twins who had surrounded the black sheep while Fishleggs was still down the well where we thought it might be. I silently clapped for them knowing Snotlout was going to be a bigger headache than usual now that he's pumped up on his victory and will be receiving the feast in his honor but knowing I should be a good sport with my kids watching I took a breath and prepared to congratulate them. I walked up to Snotlout and allowed him to yell out 'Yeah' right into my face as I held out my prosthetic hand for him to shake and said.
"Well Snotnuts, congratulations." He smiled and looked like he was going to take my hand.
"Hey, good game." He then pulled his hand away. "IN YOUR ONE-EYED DREAMS!"
"Sure, mention the eye as it's so appropriate."
"Hey I have just three words for you." He then lifted up a finger. "UN" He held up another. "DE" He held up a third while leaning in. "FEATED!"
"Boy do I enjoy your company." It was then Fishleggs flew in and much to my surprise, he was holding the black sheep as he said.
"Not so fast Snotlout." We all turned to Tuffnut who was next to the other black sheep as he said.
"Uh-Oh!" My dad then asked.
"What's going on here?" He turned to Sven. "Sven?" Sven replied.
"There's only one black sheep Stoick!" Snotlout replied.
"Yeah, and it's ours." Tuffnut then said.
"That's right." He then picked up the sheep. "You're the real black sheep aren't you." He then began rubbing his face into its wool as he called it a little sheepy weepy but when he pulled away his face was covered in black paint, exposing the sheep before Snotlout made a whole act how the twins could do it and how he was ashamed. "This was meant to be quick dry paint." My mom then walked up and announced.
"WE HAVE A REVERSAL EVERYONE AND AS THE ONES WITH THE REAL BLACK SHEEP, THE WINNERS ARE TEAM HICCLEGGS!" Me and Fishleggs held up the black sheep while everyone cheered and Toothless blasted plasma blasts into the air before my dad walked up.
"You are officially relieved as acting chief." I smiled.
"Thank Thor for that." I then mounted Toothless. "Dad, I leave the care of Berk back in your hands and request that proper punishment be given to the twins for cheating." He smiled before my mom walked up.
"Don't worry Hiccup, I have a few plans for their punishment that they will be doing while we're all enjoying the feast." I nodded before I looked at Toothless.
"Come on bud, let's get out of here before my dad decides to make me acting chief again." He growled and nodded before we took off.
Nightfall
Night had fallen over the island and I was now carrying a sleeping Chara in my arms into her room before gently lay her down on her bed and gently tucked her in as she cuddled into the pillow. I smiled at how deep into her sleep she was since she was adorable this way and I couldn't blame her for being so tired since it was way past her bed time but we were all having too much fun at the feast. It was during the feast that the twins were punished for cheating in the form of needing to clean all the dishes and not being allowed to enjoy the food, including the yak butter parfait. While they did this, me and my parents had begun discussing ways to improve the dragon races such as how to ensure no more cheating, better views for the people and ways to better hold the sheep that are brought in.
I'd already began drawing up plans for possible stands and a few other things to help with the dragon races, making them a little more excitement for them. I also had this idea of building a dragon race hall of fame to commemorate all the winners of the races in the form of portraits that had their names and which race they win along with other items from the races. I knew that before I did anything though, I'd need to first draw up the designs for these ideas and then get my dad's approval along with the location for where they'd be built and only then could construction begin.
For now though, I was happy to go to bed and get some rest so I could have an easier time facing the challenges of tomorrow, no matter what they were. With this in mind, I left Chara to sleep in her own bed while going to prepare for my own evening in bed with my wives. As I walked down the hall though, I couldn't help but try to think of a way to keep the twins from cheating in the future as that just ruins it for a lot of people and from past experiences, one punishment was nowhere near enough to get the message through to the twins. I sighed and ran a hand through my hair as I said.
"Those two are never going to stop being a headache for me." I knew it best to just sleep it off and went to bed for the night.
AN: And that brings an end to this chapter and yeah, I know it's late but work was busy this week so rarely got to write and when I got home, I crashed on the couch every day. Now I'm curious to know if there's anything everyone who reads and reviews is interested in seeing next because if you do, I'd love to hear it and see what I can do. For now though, I hope you've all enjoyed the chapter and will remember to review kindly since I'm a little disappointed that I've been getting so few reviews. In the meantime, stay safe and have a nice day.
