"Well," Jack said, after thoroughly inspecting the damage to the Happy Wanderer, "the good news is, she's fixable.
Ianto let out a heartfelt sigh of relief; he'd been worried they might be stuck on this uninhabited little world for the rest of their unnaturally long lives, constantly starving to death and reviving once they ran out of food. But…
"What's the bad news?"
"We don't have all the parts we need, so we'll have to manufacture them in the Wanderer's workshop, which is going to take a while."
"And how long is 'a while'?"
"Oh, two, maybe three months."
"Months?" Any relief Ianto had felt was fading fast.
"It's not as bad as it sounds," Jack assured his lover. "We can bring out the solar collectors so we'll have plenty of power available, and this place isn't so bad. The scanners aren't detecting anything dangerous, there're no big predators we have to worry about, and we can live onboard. It's not as if we have to build ourselves a shelter or hole up in a cave. Think of it as a vacation."
"Right, a vacation where we have to strip down and rebuild the ship's engines."
"It'll be good practice."
