Spring is sprung, the last snow has melted, and a brisk wind is blowing, sending clouds scudding across the sky. The forecast is for scattered showers, with temperatures around the seasonal average, and Ianto thinks he might have even relished the idea of being outside under other circumstances, breathing the fresh air, seeing the trees coming into blossom and the daffodil buds swelling.
But this is Torchwood business, not a pleasure jaunt, and while the better weather is certainly energising, he can think of a million things he'd rather be doing. None of them involve cleaning up bits of dead alien, which, unfortunately for him, is the task he's been lumbered with.
Alright, yes, clean-up is among his responsibilities, but the rest of the team caused this mess so it's only fair that they should help. Instead, as soon as he arrives at the scene, they head back to the Hub, leaving the real work to him.
Pulling on overalls and rubber boots, Ianto gathers his equipment and sets to work, scooping organic matter into heavy-duty rubbish bags. This is what you get from poking at unidentified aliens. Working for Torchwood is nowhere near as glamorous as most people think.
