CHAPTER 1
It was a late night on patrol for Miles and Peter. While Miles was in relatively good health considering he was Spider-Man, the same could not be said for Pete. While he wasn't too beat up physically, the same could not be said for his mental health. He was only two weeks removed from a breakup with MJ. While this breakup wasn't as bad as their first because he had Miles to be there for him, it still took a toll on him. It was midnight and Peter and Miles just finished stopping a gang trying to steal a car.
They sat on a rooftop to relax a bit after a hellacious night of saving the city. Miles could tell Peter was still feeling the effects of his and MJ's breakup.
"You alright Pete?" Miles asked.
"Yeah I'm fine. Just thinking. Thinking about how I manage to screw everything up as Peter Parker."
"Is this because of MJ?" Miles asked.
"It's not just that. I'm behind on payments for May's old house. I can't bring myself to sell it but soon I will have no choice."
"Hey, I'm sure that teaching job will work out, look at how great of a job you did with me" Miles says in an attempt to cheer Peter up.
"Yeah, but that will take a little while before I actually become a full time teacher. Without a girl in my life, I feel like I'm spiraling out of control. I have no stability now" Peter explains to Miles.
"There's plenty of fish in the sea, I'm sure you'll find the one for you eventually" Miles tells Pete.
"Yeah, you're right. Hopefully I'll find the one for me sooner than lat-"
"Hey Spider." A familiar voice interrupts Peter. It's a voice only Peter recognizes. Peter turns around to see Black Cat emerge from the shadows. "Did you miss me?" Felicia asks.
As Peter and Miles stand to face her, Miles' hands start to glow with Yellow and Blue electric venom sparks, but Peter gestures for him to back down. Miles is confused by this as he knows she and Peter have had many encounters as foes.
"What are you doing here?" Peter asks as he's filled with anger. "Back for one more big payday?"
"I'm here to apologize." Felicia explained. "Im sorry for-"
"Don't you think it's a little late for that? Especially after you lied to me about your son being in danger." Peter interrupts.
"I might have lied about him being in danger, but-"
"Save it." Peter says, interrupting her. "I don't want to hear any more of your shitty excuses."
"I was telling the truth about him existing." Felicia tells Pete.
"I'm not going to fall for the same trick twice." Peter says in a rough tone.
"It's not just my child, it is also yours."
Peter released a small, bitter chuckle, while Miles is shocked and realizes that there is more to Peter's relationship with the Black Cat than what he was told.
Peter angrily snaps at her. "If you don't get out of here right now, we will turn you in and make sure you spend the rest of your life paying for your crimes."
Felicia tosses 2 pictures of a boy at Peter. He has short platinum blonde hair like Felicia, and the facial features of Peter, including his brown eyes and plump cheeks. The first picture shows the boy sitting on a bed.
"This could be anyone's kid." Peter says as he is thinking out loud. He is in denial of what he is seeing.
He and Miles look at the second picture and the boy is hanging from the ceiling using nothing but his hands.
"Nope, that's definitely yours." Miles tells Pete.
"But, why didn't you, you could've…" Peter was at a loss for words.
"His name is Benjamin. I named him after someone you were familiar with."
Peter was frozen from shock. Miles was watching the two with his jaw dropped (thankfully his mask was on so they couldn't see it).
"Peter, I wanted to tell you, but I thought you'd turn us away," Felicia explained as her eyes began to get watery. "We can go and talk about this at my new place."
Miles gets a call from Ganke interrupting Pete and the Cat's moment. It is about a robbery being reported on Miles' friendly neighborhood app.
"A bank is getting robbed in Harlem, you guys need to go" can be heard by the three of them from Miles' phone.
"Cmon Miles let's go, Felicia and I can discuss this later."
A tear starts to fall down Felicia's face as she is seeing first hand Pete turning her and her child down.
"Na Pete, I got this. You should go get this all sorted out." Miles says to Pete.
Then Miles jumps off the building and starts swinging to the crime scene while Peter and Felicia agree to go back to her place.
