This is my first fanfiction, and to be honest, the only piece of literature I have taken seriously. The idea behind this fanfiction was taking some key plot points from Joker and applying it to The Loud House with Luan Loud. I plan to add other reference's to movies in Actor as more chapters are added. My goal is create such a good fanfiction that it gets mention on TV Tropes website. I will try to keep the characters as true to the show as possible, at least in the beginning, by referencing The Loud House Wiki. However, some Original Character may need to added as the story goes on, though I will try to stick to the characters the show has provided. Enjoy the pilot chapter.
Disclaimer: I do not own The Loud House.
On the second floor of the Loud House, inside the bathroom at the end of the hallway was Luan Loud dressed in her clown outfit. She was preparing for one of her clown gigs she did at children's birthday parties, this one for a six year old named Winston.
She looked at herself in the mirror, admiring how her flowered bowling hat, daisy colored vest, green and black striped shirt, patched pants, comically large shoes, orange wig, rose pink tie and red clown nose blended into a humorous image, perfect for entertaining children.
"I just love the polyjester shirt" she punned to herself as she walked out of the bathroom.
As she passed by the rooms on the way to the stairs reflected on why she acted as a clown for birthdays. She was paid, yes, but that was a secondary motive. Money, after all, is merely a means to an end. The one, true driving reason was to give people a good time. This stemmed from an overarching desire, Luan thought, about bringing joy to people through comedy.
Luan's passion for comedy was as deeply ingrained in her as sports was for Lynn or music for Luna. It stemmed back as far as infancy, when she entertained her then significantly smaller family with sock puppets. As the years went by her ability to spread joy diversified, ranging from simple puns to practical jokes, which did at times get out of hand. Luan also explored the career of an actor, doing pantomime acts and taking part in plays, which started when she enrolled as Juliet from Romeo and Juliet to get closer to her boyfriend, Benny. She had her own website, Luan out Loud's Comedy Channel. She also had a "business" site called Funny Business Inc., where she was hired out for birthday parties like the one she was going to now.
Luan continued to think about this as she passed the living room, where Lola and Lana were going at it over the TV remote.
"I'm going to the birthday party now!" Luan yelled to Lori. Lori was looking down at her phone, most likely texting Bobby.
"Be back by 4," Lori said in reply.
Luan nodded and grabbed her bag of tricks and unicycle, both which were leaning on the wall next to the door. She went onto the front lawn and went around Vanzilla and turned left.
She passed through the sprawling suburbs, following a map on her phone. To cut time walking, Luan made a shortcut through Ketchum park. As she was walking through this shortcut she saw a trio of figures walking her way.
As they got closer Luan saw that they were from her high school. One was a tall girl called Teri, with long brown hair, with a hair style reminiscent of Leni's. She wore a tan dress covered by a red shirt, with slip on shoes. Next to Teri was an acne faced boy whose color scheme was green beanie, hoodie and blue jeans. This, Luan guessed, was Teri's boyfriend. The third person following behind the other two was another boy in a blue hoodie and khaki pants. The distinguishing feature of this one was that his eyes were covered by a mass of black hair, and he had a noticeable cowlick.
Luan and the group of high schoolers came to a stop a few feet from each other. Cowlick just stood there without any noticeable expression, but Luan could see that Teri and her boyfriend were looking at her up and down.
"And just what are you supposed to be?" asked Teri.
"A clown," Luan stated.
All three of the high schoolers smirked at this. Boyfriend eyed Luan's hands, which she held her bag of tricks and her unicycle.
"That's quite a load you're carrying," Boyfriend said.
Luan began to see where this was going and quickly tried to diffuse the situation.
"N-no thank you," she said. Luan started to back up and a cold sweat had begun to drip down her neck.
Boyfriend replied with a malicious grin, "We're not asking."
Teri, Boyfriend and Cowlick all rushed forward. Teri and Boyfriend ripped the unicycle and bag out of her hands and Cowlick shoved her off balance. All three of them then ran. Luan steadied herself and chased after them.
Luan had been harassed before, as should be expected going to school, but this was something entirely new. Luan saw them make a right turn at the park entrance and sped up. She made the tu-
Whack!
Luan dropped to the ground, flat on her back, reaching up to her head. Her face had lit up in pain. The bowler she had been wearing, along with the wig and red nose, had fallen off. Teri and Boyfriend came around the corner, laughing to themselves. Next came cowlick, who was laughing harder than the other two. He held in both hands the unicycle, which now had its spokes dented inwards.
"He hit me in the face with my own unicycle!" Luan mentally yelled to herself, as Teri, Boyfriend and Cowlick began beating Luan to a pulp.
After about a dozen kicks to Luan each, they ran away, leaving a bruised Luan, a broken unicycle and an emptied bag of tricks. Luan, tears in her eyes and wheezing from the beating, used the ivy covered brick wall as a support to stand back up. She was still going to entertain at the birthday party for the sake of Winston.
She put herself back together, picking up her fallen accessories. The clothes covered almost all of the bruises, but one of those bastards had kicked Luan in the face, leaving a noticeable bruise on the right side of her face. Luan hid this by outline it with lipstick, so it would look like face paint to the untrained eye.
Her tricks that had fallen out were more or less untouched, but her unicycle was totally unusable. Luan left it where it lay. She could come back for it later. Picking up her bag, Luan continued on her way to the birthday party.
Luan shuffled back to the Loud House. She passed by Lana, who was digging a hole in the front lawn with the help of Charles. Thankfully, she was on the left side of the lawn, meaning no awkward questions would be walked into the house and looked at the time. The clock read 2:30 PM.
Luan thought of how the party went. The kids, being blissfully ignorant as they were, took the bruise as face paint and thought nothing of it. The parents, however, were more knowing, as could be inferred from the sideway glances they kept giving her. No actual comment was said however. Luan had done the puns and tricks as promised, but failed to provide the unicycle act. Mrs. Smith, the mother of the birthday boy, still gave Luan full payment.
Luan trudged up the stairs. Lori was on a date with Bobby, Leni was having a tea party with Lola, Luna could be heard rocking in the garage and Lynn was in the backyard kicking around a soccer ball. Lincoln was at Clyde's, doing comics or something, Lucy was most likely holed up in a vent, Lisa was screwing around with some chemicals and Lily was napping. Luan was more thankful on this day than others for her large family, because it gave her the privacy to cry.
Why? Why did this happen to me? Luan removed her clown outfit for her usual sleeveless white shirt with a flower and yellow checkerboard skirt. She continued to think about it. Why did they do it? Not just those three that beat her up today. At high school, and really any other place.
Her buck teeth, combined with the braces, already made her a target at high school. Adding to that, because of her hobbies, gave her the reputation of a class clown, not to be taken seriously, despite getting the same grades as any of them. Being able to pantomime, along with the poorly kept secret of her attending clown school at age 10, only put her in the periphery of high school social life, and an easy target.
She thought about why they laughed at her. They laughed at who she was, and not the person who had spent a lifetime learning how to entertain people. A whole goddamned lifetime.
Luan walked over to the bunk bed and sat on the lower bunk. She looked across the room to the stand up comedy stage on the other side of the room. She put her head in her hands and began to silently weep.
I'm sorry for the short chapter, but then again, first fanfiction. Here we see how the Luan Loud we know thinks about why she does comedy, which is to give joy to others through her performance. We then see how she suffers from harassment because of this, and how she then begin to show personal insecurities brought on from the harassment, which starts Luan's descent. Because this being my first fanfiction, I would greatly appreciate constructive criticism and advice in the comments on formatting, characterization and other things too. In the coming chapters I will add other narratives from other points of view. As a little incentive to give me advice, at the last chapter of the fanfiction, there will be a sort of credits with the user names of the people that provided advice before the release of the last chapter. I hope you enjoyed and will get back with another chapter soon.
