This was meant to be posted in September but I accidentally posted it early on AO3. So far this story is seventeen chapters at 14k words. I'll be posting this Fridays until I finish posting my other story in September then it will move to Saturdays.
I'm aiming for at least 30 chapters. The latest chapter is currently in December 2000, I think it will end in October/November 2003 either with a birth, a wedding or possibly both.
Summary:We're introduced to our main character Annie McCartney, muggle born daughter of former Beatles member Paul McCartney. She is annoyed with the feelings that George Weasley is making her feel again.
But seeing you across the room tonight
Just gives me away
'Cause the heart won't lie
Sometimes life gets in the way
But there's one thing that won't change
I know I've tried
The heart won't lie
Chapter 1 - The Heart Won't Lie
On a cold February morning, Annabelle 'Annie' McCartney tore into St. Mungo's to visit her twin Eleanor or rather Nellie. She was surprised that Nellie was taken to St. Mungo's since she was a muggle unlike Annie who was a muggle born witch. She rushed up to the information desk. She knew her way around St. Mungo's since she was a healer but she didn't work in the ward that her sister would be in. She was a trainee mid-healer.
She asked the welcome witch for directions and rushed towards the ward. She saw an all too familiar stocky one-eared ginger. She hasn't seen him since his oldest brother's wedding almost three years ago. Though, she also ran into him briefly after the Battle of Hogwarts.
"McCartney?"
She turned to him as her heart decided to skip a beat. It wasn't the time for that.
"I'm sorry about your sister," he apologized sincerely.
She looked confused at him.
"St. Mungo's called me in for a consultation because your sister was injured by one of my products," he explained further.
She narrowed her aquamarine blue eyes at him and pinched the bridge of her nose in frustration. "How am I not surprised that it was one of your products that injured my sister?"
"It was an accident," he assured her.
"How did she get a hold of one of your products anyway? She's a muggle," Annie asked, a confused look in her blue eyes.
George shrugged. "I don't know, McCartney."
"That would be my fault," a new voice joined the conversation.
Annie turned to Nellie's boyfriend of almost a year, Marcus Belby. She had forgotten that they went to Hogwarts together but he was a year younger than her and a Ravenclaw.
The healer interrupted. "You can see your sister, Miss McCartney."
Annie walked into her room and rushed towards her sister's bed.
"I'm fine, Annie."
Annie unlatched herself from her sister to let Marcus join her at her bedside.
"I'm sorry this happened to you, love," Marcus apologized.
"It's not your fault, Marcus," Nellie assured her worried boyfriend brushing her red hair out of her face.
Annie glared at George. "Yeah, it's George's fault."
Nellie's cornflower blue eyes wandered towards George. "I'm sure he didn't mean it, Annie."
"Don't go so easy on him, Nellie. I'm sure he never tested this product."
"Did you test this product?" Nellie asked George.
"Technically we tested it on first years of our seventh year. I'm surprised your sister didn't remember that. She hounded my twin and I since she was Head Girl," George laughed.
"I try to forget that you tested this on innocent first years."
George said. "They were willing to help."
"You also have a twin?" Nellie asked.
George sighed and began to explain. "I did but he was killed in the Battle of Hogwarts almost two years ago."
Nellie frowned. "Oh, that's unfortunate. I can't imagine what it's like to lose a twin. I was bloody terrified when Annie told me that she was petrified in your fourth year."
"I think I remember seeing you in the hospital wing and Diggory was visiting you. I didn't know you two were close."
"We were always paired together in Herbology but he only had eyes for Cho Chang while I was infatuated with the seeker on the Chudley Cannons at the time," she explained her relationship with Cedric to George.
"You like the Cannons?" George asked.
"Yeah, I know they're the worst team in the league but I like them."
George laughed. "No need to explain."
A few minutes later, Nellie was released and Annie escorted her sister out of the hospital with George and Marcus trailing behind them chatting awkwardly.
"I'm fine, Annie," Nellie assured her sister.
"I know but I'm your big sister. I have to take care of you."
Nellie laughed. "You're only 5 minutes older than me."
"And don't you forget it," she teased, hugging her and ruffling her strawberry blonde hair lovingly.
The two women had different shades of red hair. Nellie was strawberry blond while Annie's was more auburn. Nellie had shorter hair while Annie's hair was nearly down to her waist. They were the same height for the most part.
Annie said goodbye to Marcus before the couple left, leaving George and Annie alone for the second time that day.
"Do you want to grab a cup of tea?" he asked with his hands in his pockets casually.
"Not right now, George."
"Okay. I'll see you later then."
They went their separate ways. Annie apparated back to the home she shared with her Hogwarts best friend Lila Neilson. She was the seeker for the Falcons, so she should be home in a few days.
There was a sound from the floor Annie bent down to greet their cats. The two cats were as inseparable as their owners. Annie owned a purebred tabby who could be confused for McGonagall except for the fact that he's a male.
Lila's cat was a crossbreed of kneazle and tortoiseshell. Their names were Opal and Onyx, respectively. They had started off with opposite personalities to their respective owners so Opal was quieter and cautious while Onyx was adventurous and loud. Though, that's changed since Onyx was diagnosed with cancer last year.
She fed the cats then started to make dinner for herself. She was the better cook of the two. She sat on the couch, turned on the TV and flipped through channels. She settled on a documentary about the Beatles.
She hadn't seen her father in ages. Her dad was Paul McCartney. She was thankful that she was a witch because both Nellie and their older brother James had to deal with their dad's fame in the muggle world.
She and Nellie were a surprise to her parents since they were not even a year younger than James. Their birthday was August 4th, 1978 while James was born September 12th, 1977. So, Irish triplets, you could say.
Their mum Linda had died of cancer a few weeks before The Battle of Hogwarts and as expected the family was devastated.
Her dad had met Heather Mills last year. She liked her a decent bit.
After she finished dinner, she changed into her Everton, FC tee and crawled into bed and both cats curled up with her.
