Walking down the streets of a specific mystical town Elena Gilbert's thoughts were chaotic with the return of her father, John Gilbert. She was too occupied in her head to pay attention to where she was walking until she started falling, awaiting the soft drop to the ground that never came. Opening her light brown eyes, she saw someone she hadn't expected to see in a long while.

"Nate?" The person she was seeing was Nathan Ajax, who visited briefly the summer of her parent's death and then suddenly disappeared before summer was over. "It's Nathan, Elena." He corrected as soon as the shortened version of his name left her lips while adjusting the glasses he was wearing.

"I didn't know you came back?" Genuinely confused due to his sudden disappearance, she hasn't expected to see him again, and now here he is. "I hadn't planned on it." He spoke sincerely.

"Right, so what are you doing back in Mystic Falls?" She innocently questioned, even though Nathan wanted to walk away already. "Nothing too extravagant. I just came to finish my senior year." He spoke in a bored tone that got a raised brown from Elena.

"I see you still have your antisocial persona going on," Elena said, remembering the summer filled with grief, sadness, and other emotions. "Yeah, well, I don't care much about others; you know that, Elena." Nathan ignored how she looked at him when he said that and started walking away. As predicted, Elena didn't let Nathan off and followed him.

"So, what did you do after you left?" Though Nathan. Not wanting to interact with her, he just asked. "What do you want, Elena?" His voice raised a bit as he stopped walking. "What do you mean?" Her soft, confused tone slightly infuriated Nathan. "I mean, you were the one that told me! That everything would go back the way it was before that."

"Woah, Woah, what's going on here?" Out of Nathan's vision appeared an older man with Black hair and blue eyes, whose height was slightly shorter at 5'10". "Nothing, Damon, it's fine." To further irritate Nathan, as soon as he took a whiff, he could tell this new guy was a vampire.

Nathan gave a once-over to the pair, seemingly mulling something over. "A little old for you, isn't he Elena?" Damon, who was still eyeing Nathan, his eyes briefly became severe, and then he smirked. "Why? you jealous?" Nathan's blank face said it all, but to further explain, he said. "I don't have a reason to be." Ignoring Elena's imploring look, he focused on Damon, who further explained.

"Well, don't worry, she is shacking it up with my brother." To which Nathan let out an amused smile. "Damon!" Elena shouted in embarrassment and annoyance. "Yeah; as much fun as this is, I will let you two be." Nathan walked quickly to avoid any protest.

"Damon, do you always have to be vulgar?" keeping his smirk, he said. "Because it's fun, Elena, or are you worried I scared him off?" Looking back at Elena while ignoring the look she gave him, he finally asked. "Who is he? And how do you know him?" Elena, not thinking much of it, she said. "He's Nathan Ajax; he stayed at the Lockwoods manor last summer." Damon started thinking over the connections to the Lockwoods, though he first decided to ask something else that had been on his mind. "So then, what's his connection with you?" To which Elena got nervous at his questioning face and said. "Nothing, he was new, and with what happened with my parents, he was like a breath of fresh air." Not buying her answer, Damon said. "I think there's more to that story than you're saying."

The two continued walking towards Mystic Grill, unaware that Nathan had turned around, and looked back at Damon Salvatore with a pensive gaze. The emotions on Nathan's face were plain for anybody looking at him to see. All people would see was a face full of confusion on Nathan's face while looking at the dark-haired vampire.

"Nate, are you okay?" Aria spoke, seeing Nate silent as he leaned against his black Kawasaki Ninja Zx-6r with gold outlines. "I'm fine, Aria." He said while his lips were the only part of his body he moved and kept looking afar. Knowing him for so long, she picked up on some of his body movements or habits and knew this was one of the cases where he was not good. "Nate, I know you're not okay. You're only like this when you think about something that bothers you."

The two stood in silence, and Aria kept her gaze fixed on Nate; knowing she wouldn't let up, he sighed at his companion's stubbornness. He finally placed his gaze to meet hers; both friends locked on each other as if they were the only ones present.

"I can never win, can I?:" He laughed lightly. "Nope." She said while popping the last bit of the word out of her mouth and sharing a smile with him. "I don't know, it's just this vampire I ran into about ten minutes before you got here." He said while slightly frowning. "A vampire already, Nate?" she questioned before she could worry further, Nate said. "No, he didn't pick up on me being supernatural."

"Dammit! Nate, what are you doing getting close to one this early?" He shook his head helplessly as she expressed her frustrations. "I didn't sniff him out until he got involved with a conversation I was having." What he said grabbed her attention. "What was this conversation, and with whom? That you got distracted when you are usually so alert." A bitter smile appeared on his face. "Elena Gilbert." Not attempting to hide anything, he said her name.

"The doppelganger, The one you slept with, am I right?" Aria's tone suddenly got aggressive, and amid the sudden anger, her eyes shifted to an amber color, displaying her Lycanthrope heritage. Deciding to calm her down, knowing she can leave a lot of destruction when she gets angry, and being in public was not the place to do it. Nate held her shoulders and guided her face close to his while shifting his; however, these weren't the ruby eyes he'd shown before. No, they were similar, but at the same time, the orange hue added made them resemble Aria's.

Both stayed in place for a minute as Aria's amber eyes shifted back. "You look me in the eyes any longer; I'm gonna think you're in love with me." Aria joked, then Nate smirked before he pulled away from her, not taking his eyes off her. Then, both started lightly laughing.

"You okay?" Nate asked Aria, frowning a bit. "I'm okay," she answered back while smiling. "Though I need some release on this pent-up stress I've been feeling." She cheekily said while doing arm stretches. Nate gave her an unamused look and then said. "We can ride down the road near the forest, away from people, and then we get some business done, then go back to the manor." Aria nodded as she got her black Kawasaki Ninja Zx-6r with a maroon outline.

Before she rode off, she looked at Nate, who looked to be examining a tree. "Something wrong?" Nate looked towards her and said. "Thought I heard something."

"Nice glasses, by the way." She laughed as the two rode off on their bikes, completely missing the witch hiding behind the tree looking in the direction they rode off to.

Later that evening, two species meet a group of werewolves and a couple of vampires bargaining over members of the other species. This event was occurring in the forest, though not during the full moon. Rising tension between the two groups was about to break into a fight. What neither group knew was that the forest during this night was the stalking ground for a dangerous creature. Two blurs were racing down the forest as the leaves crunched beneath their feet. The larger one could be seen moving faster than its counterpart but slowed to the point the other reached it and then took a significant lead once again as if teasing it. Suddenly, the larger one stopped and lifted its head to listen, seeing its companion stop. The smaller one also stopped to listen for noise in the forest. What they heard could only be the result of a conflict, and both darted off toward the direction of the struggle as a gunshot rang in the forest.

Looking at the current situation could be explained as a deal gone wrong, but no, it was a skirmish between two species, vampires and werewolves. Due to the disadvantage, the werewolves used numbers to overwhelm the vampires. Three vampires, a female blonde pressed against an RV with a gun to her back, a male with light brown hair knocked down onto the ground, and a familiar black-haired older male on the ground, with a stake in his stomach.

One of the werewolves reached for another stake, ready to stake the black-haired vampire in the heart; something howled through the night. A sudden chill passed through all the supernatural creatures in the area, and with their heightened abilities, they were alerted to the cause. A crunched sound of leaves made them turn toward the open forest, where they saw two wolves standing. The smaller one had dark gray fur and amber eyes and stood at a stature of 2.7 feet, and the bigger one stood at 3.9 feet. The massive silver-coated wolf not only had its height to intimidate, but also its eyes glowed a bright vermillion hue.

Everyone looking at the two was speechless, and a range of emotions permeated the area, such as awe and surprise from the werewolves and fear from the vampires.

The silver wolf looked toward the RV entrance, and a glint of recognition passed through its eyes, looking at the young werewolf with black hair. Suddenly, most of the werewolves started dropping in pain due to a mysterious force. Even the gray wolf started whining, yet the silver wolf was still standing. It looked around for a moment but then narrowed its eyes toward one direction and started bearing its fangs to the culprit.

The man looked shocked at the wolf and seemed to be in a trance. The magic that had been assaulting the werewolves had lessened, but as the man realized his mistake, he refocused his assault. He aimed a lot of magic toward the silver wolf, but it continued bearing its fang and started moving in. The closer it got, the more worried the male witch became, as it seemed no matter how much he focused on the wolf, it didn't feel a thing. Glancing at the gray wolf crying out in pain, he knew what had to stop.

The spell released from the wolf, and as the pain stopped, so did its cries, which notified the silver wolf that she was all right. "I'm sorry I hurt your friend, but I have a deal to uphold that they stay safe." The witch said while indicating to the scattered vampires. The wolf huffed in defiance as it glared at the witch, ready to rip him apart until the gray wolf barked, saving the witch's life. Turning around, the two wolves stared at each other as if having a silent conversation. The gray wolf turned its body, facing toward the deeper parts of the forest, and started running away.

Giving one last growl toward the witch, the larger wolf followed right after its companion. "What the hell was that?" Spoke out Damon Salvatore as he got up from the ground. "I don't know, but you need to go before they decide to return." The three vampires zipped out of the forest, not wanting to be anywhere near it with those wolves out and about. The witch followed afterward, but not before giving a message to Tyler Lockwood for the other werewolves to leave.

Stopping at some stone ruins, the two wolves looked around a bit before sniffing in the air, and after a bit, the two hunched over as their bones broke.

After a bit of time, two bare human-like figures were standing and it was Nate and Aria. Nate moved a stone covering the gym bag that held their clothes and grabbed the bag. "Someone was here not too long ago," Aria said, grabbing her clothes to cover herself. Nate hummed in response as he glanced at her. "What is it?" She asked, already knowing what was on his mind. "You should've let me kill him; he hurt you," he said.

"We would've got an original on our case." she sighed while he huffed and said. "We probably already do, leaving his witch alive to tell the tale of two werewolves who shifted when it's not a full moon."

"Nate, sometimes you have to show restraint; that's just the animal in you talking." Nate didn't continue that conversation as he looked toward the entrance of the tomb next to them.

"I think it's time to get to business." Aria shook her head, knowing he was just dodging the truth. Nate walked inside the tomb as Aria followed him.
