CHAPTER 9
6 Months Later
It had been 6 months since Peter was taken over by the symbiote and Miles and Felicia had to save him from it. Those 6 months had been very eventful for Miles and Peter, but in very different ways. For Miles, he had unofficially taken over as the main Spider-Man. Peter would only come out for big super villains like The Rhino and Scorpion, but Miles was doing a majority of the work in those fights, as Peter started taking the backseat to Miles. Peter realized this and felt it was time for him to hang up the web-shooters and put all his time into his family and job. It was now September, so Miles had been a couple of weeks into his first semester at ESU. Peter was starting his new teaching job at a high school in queens. He was teaching chemistry. His son was about to start first grade. This was his first year going to public school, as before Felicia would hire a teacher to homeschool him. Ben finally was able to control and hide his spider powers so Felicia and Peter thought he was ready to go to public school. The three of them had been living in Peter's house in Queens for the last 6 months after Felicia sold her penthouse. Felicia was finally getting used to living in a modest home instead of a grand penthouse, but she was actually enjoying the house and the neighborhood. This was of course after a few renovations to the house, but it was nothing too extreme. Felicia and Peter were living a nearly perfect life, but there was one thing left for them to do. Peter realized this and he did it. It was a Friday night a couple of weeks after Ben's first day of school. Ben was having a playdate with one of his friends from school, so Peter took Felicia to a nice dinner at a local Italian restaurant in Astoria, Queens. Astoria park was around the corner of the restaurant. So after they finished their delicious meals, they walked over to the park. They grabbed seats where they could see the skyline of NYC. It was night so the city was all lit up. The two of them started reminiscing on their days in the city.
"Do you ever miss the city?" Peter asked Felicia as they examined the city's skyline. He still wasn't completely convinced that she enjoyed living in a modest home in queens.
"Honestly, no." Felicia said as Peter raised an eyebrow. "The goal for me was always to get away from all the crime and disgustingness the city's offers and settle down somewhere nice and start a family. And with you, I was finally able to do that." She said as she squeezed Peter's hand.
Peter got up and brought Felicia to her feet. He faced her with the city's skyline in the background as he looked deep into her gorgeous blue eyes and told her "Ever since we got back together our life has been almost perfect. There's one thing that's been missing, but I think it's time we fix that." He got down on one knee and asked her the question "Felicia Hardy, will you marry me?" He presented her with a beautiful Diamond ring.
Her eyes glistened as they began to fill with water. She told him "Yes Peter." Peter slid the elegant ring onto her right ring finger and got up off the ground and shared the most passionate kiss they had ever had.
When they returned home it was 9:30 and they didn't have to pick up Ben from his play date until 11. So, they did what any newly engaged couple would do until 10 minutes before it was time to pick up Ben. They picked up Ben from his friend's house and put him to sleep. They quickly went to bed after.
The next morning, the newly engaged couple was woken by Ben as he was grabbing Felicia's hand and shaking it until she woke up "Mommy. Mommy, what's on your finger?" The boy curiously asked.
"It's my engagement ring sweetie." She told him.
"What does that mean?" Ben said with a puzzled look on his face.
"It means mommy and daddy are getting married." Peter said as he sat up to look at the two of them.
"Really?!" The boy said with excitement. "This is the best day of my life!" Ben exclaimed.
"Me too." Peter said as he looked over and smiled at his now fiancée.
"Do you want to watch some cartoons, Ben?" Felicia asked
"Yeah." The boy said as he ran downstairs to the family room.
Felicia grabbed Peter's shoulder and asked him "So, when's the wedding going to be?"
"I was thinking in a few months, maybe a beach, something small because, well, there's not many people we'd be inviting." He said in a slightly diminished tone as he stared at the ground.
Felicia picked his chin up and said "That sounds perfect Pete." As she leaned into him for a kiss. After their quick little kiss, he got a call from Miles. He told Felicia and picked up.
"Hey, what's up Miles?" Peter asked.
"Hey Pete. I uh, I was wondering if you know where Raft inmates are usually dropped off?"
"What? Is everything ok Miles?"
"Yeah. Today my uncle is getting released and I don't know where he gets dropped off."
"Your uncle was in the Raft? What did he do to get in?"
"I didn't tell you? He was the prowler." Miles said as if it was a completely normal thing.
Peter put Miles on speaker phone, so he and Felicia both heard and looked at each other confused.
"What?! Your uncle is The Prowler?! Wait, I thought he was gonna be in there for 2 years."
"Yeah he was, but he's getting out early for good behavior."
"I don't know where they release prisoners, I just know where they arrive when they break out. Wait, does he know you're Spider-Man?" Peter asked.
"Well, yeah." Miles said.
"Dude how many people did you tell?"
"Hey, I didn't tell him. He figured it out from my voice when I saved him from the underground. Anyway, do you want to come with me to pick him up?"
"I would, but I have a wedding to be planning." He said as he smirked at Felicia.
"Oh really? Congrats man. Ok, well, I gotta get going and see my uncle. Bye Pete."
"Bye Miles." He said as he hung up.
"Huh, so his uncle's the PROWLER and he didn't tell you? I wonder what else he's been hiding from you." She said while giggling.
"I can't really be mad, I've hid things from him in the past." He said as he smiled and grabbed Felicia's hand. Then he put on a serious face and looked deep into her eyes. "Y'know, after May died, I never really thought I'd ever be happy again. When I was dating MJ, I knew it would never end well but I did it to help ease my pain of May's death. I've experienced so many more downs than ups in life. It felt like I was taking one step forward and two steps back. But that was until you came back into my life. You made me feel happy again. You made me feel like I matter. You helped me realize that at the end of the day, I'm still human. And being a parent with you for Ben has invigorated a new kind of happiness I thought I would never have. I've never been so happy in my life, so I just wanted to say, thank you, for everything. Words can't describe how much I love you." He said as a tear of joy was streaming down his face.
"When I lied to you about our son, I thought that I had driven you away for the final time. I tried so many times to come clean to you about Ben but I could never muster up the courage. But when you took me back, I couldn't believe how lucky I was to have you as the father of my son, and I realized that you were still the love of my life and nothing would ever change that. Even the symbiote couldn't change that. I love you too Peter." She said as her eyes were tearing up. They leaned into each other and passionately kissed.
3 months had passed and it was Felicia and Peter's wedding day. They were on a beach. There weren't many guests at the wedding, in fact it was only Miles, Ganke, a couple of Felicia's friends, and Ben, but it was enough for Peter and Felicia. Peter was wearing his finest black suit, complete with a navy blue tie with crimson red stripes. Felicia was in an elegant white dress. Her hair wasn't in a ponytail like it usually was. Instead it was all flowing down, but two strands of hair remained on each side of her face. Her veil was covering her face. They said their vows and they each said 'I do.' Once the officiant told Peter 'you may now kiss the bride' he opened her veil and placed a juicy kiss on her decadent lips. This was the happiest day of their lives. At the end of the wedding, Miles and Ganke approached Peter and Felicia with their gift for the wedding. The two of them made custom web-shooters to fit Ben's wrists. Peter was ecstatic, while Felicia was slightly annoyed until she saw how happy it had made Peter. A week later, Felicia and Peter went on their honeymoon and Miles was officially New York's only Spider-Man.
The End
Thank you all for reading. This is all I intended on writing, but if there is enough demand I can write about some other things like Peter telling Felicia about the Spider Society from ATSV, or Peter just being a father until he and Miles teach Ben.
