We acknowledged well they would come the next day as well. We waited sneakily until to made our first move. In other words, to hadn't seen it coming. It seemed like an arrest, except it was a method to distract them. It wasn't even difficult.

Light sat next to L. In that big office with the computers. At one point L turned Light's chair around—since it had wheels—and looked at it in examination as if had some mechanical problem. The other boy noticed his unusual behaviour. He asked him if there was something wrong with the chair as he looked at it. L replied that the chair was a bit old and that Light might hurt himself.

"I'm glad you care about me, dear colleague, but I don't think it's necessary. If the chair suddenly breaks, I'll understand." Light replied.

Then he immediately tied a ribbon tightly around his eyes and handcuffed him. He smiled.

"You wish!"

At that exact moment, Misa came out of the bathroom where she had to freshen up her makeup. I didn't think to distract her since she would see Light tied up anyway. So, I attacked her by putting a ribbon around her eyes as well. After that, we took them to the cells hearing them shouting and letting them go. Of course, when the cops came we explained the situation.

For three days straight, they had eaten nothing. Not because it was forbidden. They are the ones who got stubborn. They also looked tired, which made sense, since Light was chained by the legs, and Misa could neither see nor move, as her eyes were covered by a long, narrow metal object, while her entire body was tied. Tough handling of a suspect, if you ask me. Tough but fair.

"They haven't eaten for three whole days. Imagine how stubborn they are." I commented.

"I need to go to the bathroom," Misa was heard on the security camera. L turned on the microphone.

"You went five minutes ago. Hold it for a moment."

"But I'll be forced to pee myself! Wouldn't it be fun to see me getting wet?" She replied sarcastically.

"You're not going,"

"My bladder will break!"

"Fine...Marina go get her."

"Yes, sir."

Five days passed days and no result hasn't been shown. The more we tried to get them to speak, the less they ate. In the end, we had to force them to eat. I went to Misa's cell.

"Here, eat," I said handing her a piece of toast. She shook her head.

"Misa... I don't like we're keeping you imprisoned, but it was Ryuzaki's idea because he suspects you to be the Kiras. We don't want to torture you. Really... If you confess your crimes, we'll let you go."

"I can't take it anymore... Kill me!" She only said

L turned on the microphone. "So, you're admitting you're the second Kira."

"That's not what I said! I just want to die! I know you can easily kill me! I wanted to die together with my family in old age... But now I don't care they were murdered! That's why I support Kira! He killed the murderer of my family! The only connection I had!"

Misa started shaking trying to free herself from the belts. "Kill me! Kill me now!!"

There she goes... They don't say anything and suddenly Misa asks us to kill her. Something is wrong here. Why would she want us to kill her? Does she admit to being the second Kira as L said? No way! A criminal would never immediately admit their guilt. Does she mean she's not the second Kira and we have a benefit to kill her even though she's innocent, because we think she might be Kira? The others still don't believe Light is innocent! But I clearly heard them using strange vocabulary. Like a secret code. Only L seemed to believe me...

The more I thought about it, the angrier I got at the cops for not listening to their partners!

"L, should I go to Light's cell? Not that I expect him to say anything, just to check."

"Yes, go."

It turned out even Light wasn't in the mood for revelations.

"You look tired," I noticed.

"You know, Marina... I'm not in the best of shape, but I refuse that dignity."

"What do you mean?"

And then without reason or cause, he fell unconscious on the floor. For a moment I thought he did what Misa did. As if protesting being imprisoned, even temporarily. They wanted to prove their innocence. That's why they went on a hunger strike. Fortunately, his fainting didn't last long and immediately regained his strength.

"Are you alright?" I asked.

"... Ryuzaki. Marina. I know you have Misa and I under suspicion and that's why you imprisoned us. But you're wasting your time. We're not Kira...!"

"Whether you are Kira or not it isn't up to you to decide," L said.

"How can you imprison us without proof?"

"We do have proof!" I answered brusquely. "Yesterday I heard you guys saying some odd stuff. And my ears don't deceive me!"

Light looked at me as if I spoke Chinese.

"What are you talking about? What strange things are you referring to? Unless you mean Misa. She generally says the weirdest things."

At this point, I began to think their entire behaviour is probably staged. Light had a relationship with an actress! It seems absolutely logical she taught him some basic acting to make him look more convincing. Even their daily appearances at the secret base may have been part of a plan. Everything was possible. I smiled at him and bent down slightly to reach the floor.

"Buddy. We won't reveal it in public! The truth will be known in secret! Don't be shy, say it! You are the ones to blame!"

"Light, let us be clear. We can't get you out of the cells until we're sure you're actually Kira.'' the detective through the microphone. "And to be one hundred per cent sure, we'll search both of their homes. There will definitely be tangible evidence!"

"Absolutely not! There's no chance! We're talking about my son!" the chief protested. "I raised my son with principles and a correct moral code! For so many days I didn't complain anything about the suspicions, as I have patience. And a lot of it! But that's just too much, Ryuzaki! You're wrong and you're affecting that child's reasoning too!"

He must have meant me when he said "child". It's impossible for Light to be swayed by the suspicions and begin to believe himself he's Kira. I was really impressed by his acting skills.

"I wouldn't like to brag, Mr. Yagami, but you know I've been in this field for over ten years and in most cases I have proven myself right. Therefore, I strongly believe your son is responsible for the murders. However the truth is, I didn't find anything suspicious when the cameras were installed in your home. Which brings the chances down to two per cent."

"Ryuzaki, do you know what you're talking about?" Matsuda spoke. "Weren't you telling us a few days ago you suspect Light around five per cent? What's all this imprisonment? It's more likely for Misa to be Kira since she's a star. We can imagine everything about public figures. But what did Light do? You also have the father of the martyr! Not to mention the cameras! Let alone you suddenly changed the percentage of probability. I really can't understand you..."

"That's business secrets, Matsuda. You don't have to understand."

"What's going on up there? Are you going to take me out or not?" There was an impatience in Light's tone of voice.

"He's right, Ryuzaki. And let me tell you something. There's always the possibility of being mistaken. How are you so sure?" Mogi asked too.

"I told you it's business secrets."

The situation was confusing. I couldn't come to any conclusion either. Something was definitely being hidden. Something that was either right under our noses and didn't realize it, or it was so well hidden that even L couldn't spot. At least for now. Somehow, I had the feeling the suspicions were indeed wrong, but on the other hand, my stomach tightened whenever Light was in my presence. Even at that time when I was in the cell listening to the policemen's conversation. Even though Light was tied up and therefore couldn't do anything to me, I still wanted to run away.

Kira wasn't Light. Or even if he was, it would be subconsciously. He could, for example, kill people in his sleep. The same could be true for Misa. But again. L said the cameras didn't show anything. For Light's house only. Not Misa's.
