CHAPTER 43

Felicity and John went their separate ways after settling into the hotel in Central City, Felicity headed over to the Precinct that Barry was based at while John when exploring the city.

At the Precinct Felicity was directed to the upper floor and through to the back for Barry, but as she rounded the corner and stepped into the open plan lab room it was empty. She decided to snoop a little, moving around the room looking at the paperwork left on the tables. Checking out the things stored on the shelving.

Voices caught her attention and she moved back to the centre of the room facing the way in and could hear a man and woman. As the voices got closer she could tell Barry and another voice that was familiar, "anonymous or not, it's not safe. You never know what kind of weirdos are out there trolling on the internet." Barry said and finished as he rounded the corner and Felicity saw them.

"I can vouch for that. The internet is full of weirdos and nerd rage. Lots and lots of nerd rage." Felicity spoke up to get Barry's attention and make her presence known. She stepped forward meeting Barry as he noticed her and smiled, it was good to see him and looking as she remembered him very healthy.

Barry chuckled and just stared at Felicity, she remembered her manners and turned to the lady stood next to him and realised why she recognised the voice. It was Iris who had been answering Barry's phone to Felicity's calls while he was unconscious, when she had the rare occasion to call him. Reaching out her hand towards the lady, "Hi Felicity Smoak."

The lady met the pleasantries and introduced herself, "Iris West."

"Barry Allen." Came from Barry and Felicity turned to face him. He panicked, "But you both already knew that." He stumbled over correcting his embarrassing slip up. "Felicity is." He tried to carry on but Iris interrupted him.

"The girl that you met in Starling City, the computer, right?" Felicity nodded in agreement. "You two worked on one of Barry's unexplainable cases, and you called to check on Barry a few times." Iris added.

Felicity panicked at the unexplainable cases she didn't want any attention towards Oliver and babbled, "Which, long story short, was definitely explainable." She moved backwards trying to get out of the topic and continued, "So the lightening came through here?" She looked up and pointed before focussing on Barry again.

Barry looked confused and hesitant but answered with, "Yeah."

Felicity could tell he wasn't up for that topic so she dropped it and moved on. "Iris it is nice to put a face to the voice, from talking on the phone. Thank you for at least keeping me in the loop about how Barry was doing." Felicity expressed her gratitude and changed the topic.

"No problem at all, I mean it is a way to travel from there to here so it's the least I could do. How come your visiting now?" Iris asked curious.

Barry just awkwardly stood in between the exchange. "Oh I was passing through, have some time off owing figured I could travel a little." Felicity lied and she saw Barry look at her as if he knew she was lying.

"Iris maybe as Felicity is here and only for a short period, we can take a rain check on coffee break together and I can show her around town, we can meet up again later?" Barry interjected before Iris could.

"Sure." Iris agreed giving Barry a look before turning to Felicity. "It was nice meeting you and here I bought this and its not being used if you'd like it." She offered.

"Thanks." Felicity took the offered coffee cup. "Nice to meet you too."

Iris left and Barry seemed to relax a lot which Felicity mentally noted. "Want to take a walk?" Barry asked.

"Sure, lead the way." Felicity replied cheerfully and fell in line with Barry as they walked out the Precinct.

A block away was a community park and they entered the park in companionable quiet for a while, once they were well within the green space and not many people around them Felicity started to talk. "Iris seems very nice. And really pretty. Like, super pretty. Congratulations." She had put the connections together that Barry was dating Iris, based of his initial nerves, having coffee break together and him politely exchanging time with her for Felicity.

Barry glanced over to Felicity, "Well, Iris isn't my girlfriend." Felicity turned to face Barry in surprise. "She's just a friend who actually has a boyfriend. Oh, that's… interesting, I guess." She looked away awkwardly that hadn't been the answer she expected.

"What are you really doing here?" Barry asked, he turned more to face Felicity, his own curiosity getting the better on him and needing to know. "I mean, it's good to see you, but do you and Oliver need something, or…" Barry added remembering to be pleasant, It was good to see Felicity, he liked her she was a good friend someone who he had a lot in common with and trusted.

"No, no, I came because I wanted to see you." She stopped walking and paid attention to Barry. Her life had been crazy with the introduction of the Tracy's and Barry didn't know about them only Oliver and Team Arrow and they had grown a friendship over being nerdy. Felicity had been worried over him after hearing about the particle accelerator explosion incident and she truly wanted to make sure he was okay. "I heard you were out of the coma." She pointedly started at him, "Didn't call, didn't write, didn't race over…" She smirked.

Barry panicked and looked about for anyone who might be within listening distance before looking back at Felicity. "Oliver told you?" He accused.

Felicity shook her head smiling she knew it. "Honestly did you forget I am a genius and wait you've seen Oliver before me?" She accused back mocking hurt.

Barry smiled shaking his head. "I want to see Barry." She asked, she realised it was a bit ambiguous what she was asking to see and babbled a correction. "Your speed, can I see how fast you can move. In case you thought I was talking about something else, which I really was not, oh I need to stop."

Barry laughed at Felicity's now distress, he glanced about for an idea of what he could do for a public safe demonstration. "OK, you see that building?" He pointed off to the right. Felicity followed Barry's point and agreed. "Keep your eyes on it." Barry said smugly.

Felicity glanced back at Barry then to the building. There was a breeze that rocked Felicity then she saw red/orange streaking on the outcropping balcony/roof of the building before Barry was at her other side phone in hand and another short breeze. She stumbled backwards as she registered Barry was now that side of her, she hadn't realised he had already left and focussed on the phone. "Woah, you took a picture of me? From the top of that building?" She said in shocked awe.

"Yeah. Don't Instagram that." Barry added.

"Unbelievable." Felicity almost sighed then she glanced past the phone and noticed smoke near the ground. As she paid more attention it was coming from Barry's shoes, she started to shout, "Your shoes are smoking."

Barry did a funny hopping between feet, stomping to put the embers out on his shoes while Felicity just watched on in worry. When the last of the embers seemed to stop glowing Barry slowed his movements and looked to Felicity, "That… that's fine. It's… it happens sometimes." He explains, Felicity however is still concerned that Barry almost caught on fire. "It's why I have a friction-proof suit." He boasted.

Felicity was shocked, how could Barry get something like that. "Where did you get that?"

Excited at being able to share with Felicity he replied, "I'll show you." he held out his hand to Felicity and in her awed state she took his hand and was led along the path. A few steps along Barry stopped and turned to Felicity, "Did you come on the train?"

Felicity stopped along side Barry and answered him, "No… um I had a detour from Star City that requires a plane to get there. I drove to the Precinct."

Barry looked at Felicity her answer confusing him, "There is a story there right? And great you can drive us I'll direct." He started walking again keeping Felicity along side him by still holding onto her hand.

"Well a little, so I was visiting my fiancé, he lives off the coast of Australia." Felicity started to explain.

Barry stopped dead again turning shocked to face Felicity. "Wait... Wait... What I thought you and Oliver?"

Felicity felt terrible. When Barry had helped them in Starling City with the mirakuru goon investigation he had thought she wanted Oliver but Oliver didn't see her. He had been kind of right so she didn't correct him but that was before the undertaking and her meeting John. He had also made the cutest pass at her after he left, but she only liked him as a friend and of course she was with John but he hadn't know that at the time.

"I'm sorry Barry, that when you thought I was interested in Oliver I didn't explain more. I did want to be with Oliver for the craziest amount of time thought I could be his one. Then I met John after the Starling City Undertaking, it's a long distance relationship he works a lot and usually out of town but he is special." She started to explain feeling her face blush at thinking about and describing John to Barry.

"His job is important to him and he understands how important my night life is as well as my promise to Oliver. He proposed to me a few months ago and right now he is on leave from work for a few weeks, so I went to visit him and then he's brought me here, and has some other plans planned that I don't know about yet." Felicity explained slipping into a bit of a babble at the end under Barry's gave.

"It looks like he makes you very happy and I'm happy that your happy. You can ask him to Jitters after, that is if he's not as scary as Oliver." Barry said.

"He does and I would love to introduce you two. He is nothing like Oliver, he has people skills." Felicity reassured Barry. "How long exactly is your coffee break?" Felicity realised that if they were going by car, it must be further away and Barry had said he was on break, she didn't want to be responsible for getting him into trouble.

"That's alright they won't even notice I'm gone." Barry replied and they started walking again back towards the precinct and Felicity's car.

PAUSE

Barry took Felicity to S.T.A.R Labs, he introduced her to the small team there and spent several hours showing off before they finally left again. Felicity was in awe of all the tech. Barry, he was a literal superhero and it suited him, she wouldn't lie she was worried with recent things that had happened that morality was still at the forefront and Barry was so new to this. She didn't voice any concern to Barry she could see how much it meant to him.

Next Barry took Felicity to Jitters, in his excitement talking about being the streak, and S.T.A.R Labs he had forgotten to mention about inviting her fiancé.

As the walked into Jitters, they practically walked into Iris, "Hey you two." She greeted warmly, she had her hands full with a tray of dirty cups and Felicity realised she must work here.

She smiled back and greeted Iris, but Barry said, "We're not a two."

Felicity realised what it must look like them both walking in together and realised she needed to set things straight as Barry had. "Oh, no. We are a one and a spoken for." She said pointing to Barry and herself respectively.

It suddenly felt awkward and Iris nodded before moving swiftly on. "Has Barry been showing you some of the sights in Central City?"

"Yes, I have seen some pretty amazing things." Felicity glanced to Barry as she said that thinking of his display at S.T.A.R Labs.

"Really?" Iris seemed to focus on Barry two giving him a look before continuing on. "Well, if you've got some time, maybe we can show you some of Central City's night life."

"We are here for a short time but no, no. I get plenty of night life in Star City." Felicity hurried to say. Iris had started walking away into the coffee shop and Felicity with Barry in tow followed.

"Oh, this is something that I don't think that you're going to want to miss." Iris continued before she plonked down her tray on the counter and spun to face Felicity and Barry waving a leaflet. "Trivia night at Jitters. Eddie's not really excited about it, I admit. But it could be our night, guys." She said super excited and handed the leaflet to Barry.

Barry inspected the leaflet, "Our night to win $75 worth of cappuccinos." He said sceptically.

Felicity snatched the leaflet to inspect herself, before adding, "Uh, yum, its close enough to a latte." Her phone started ringing and she slipped it out of her bag looking at the caller ID. It was John and it was late afternoon and she hadn't message him since seeing Barry with all of the talking and excitement. "I need to take this, I'll be back in a second." She said distracted turning and walking towards the doors.

"I am so sorry John, I lost track of the time and I'm sorry." She blabbed as soon as she answered the call slipping through the door out onto the sidewalk.

There was a chuckle through the phone, "I take it Barry is well and you two have been catching up?" John asked.

"Yeah he looks better than the last time I saw him all things considering. I will tell you what I can when I see you. Are you back at the hotel or still wandering the city?" Felicity answered.

"That is good news, and I look forward to tales of your Central City adventures. I'm still wandering, I've not done this since being at college, it's nice." John replied.

"Iris, that's Barry's friend mentioned something about Trivia night, and I know that Barry wants to meet you so let me find out a plan and call you back." Felicity said.

"Sure sounds like a plan, I'll take a slow wander back to the hotel then. Love you." John answered.

"Love you too." Felicity cut the call and turned to go back inside only to almost walk into Barry.

"Hey so Iris is insistent on you joining us for the Trivia tonight, I want to insist you bring John, she's brining her boyfriend, Eddie." Barry started to say, he looked troubled.

"Are you okay?" Felicity asked.

"Yeah I'm fine. I should probably show my face at work for a bit so meet you back here for seven it starts at half past." Barry reassured.

Felicity wasn't convinced but she let it drop. "Perfect, I'll see you later Barry."

"Bye Felicity." Barry started walking away and literally vanished as Felicity watched him. She smiled it was so cool.

She pinged a message to John rather than ring him just to say that she would meet him at the hotel.

John was waiting in the hotel lobby and scooped Felicity into his arms in a hug with a hello kiss. "Did you miss me?" Felicity squeaked as John broke the kiss and relaxed his hold on her.

"A little." He replied. "Now I am starving shall we get some food now and you can tell me everything, including tonight's plans."

"I could eat, I may have skipped lunch by accident." She admitted.

John rolled his eyes and started to lead them out of the hotel to take a walk, he had scouted a few nice places on his wandering that were close to the hotel.

Over food John told Felicity about the places he visited and where he wandered about. Felicity in turn told John about visiting S.T.A.R Labs and that her suspicions were confirmed about the streak. She wouldn't say it though she didn't want to break the trust Barry had in her and she also didn't go into any details about S.T.A.R Labs specialist equipment for Barry. John accepted that he wouldn't get the full information and he was okay with that, he was content enough that Felicity was happy.

They enjoyed a cheeky desert before finishing at the restaurant and returning to change for the nights activities.

Felicity didn't know what kind of dress code there would be Iris had not divulged those particular details, so she settled on a pastel orange dress that was form fitting, stopped above the knee and had some crossed straps over the shoulder with a blue silk shawl. John had chosen a blue shirt with orange tie and deep blue suit trousers and matching jacket. He drove them over to Jitters, Felicity directed, and they made it for just after seven as the parking had been nightmarish to get a space.

They walked in together holding hands and Felicity glanced about for Barry, she spotted him immediately along with Iris and another man who must have been Eddie. She felt a little shy noticing that Barry was dressed as usual in a shirt and sweater, Iris was smartly dressed but modestly and Eddie was in a waist coat and smart, she was way over dressed. She strode forward pulling John along with her up to the table. "I totally overdressed for trivia night." She blurted as she reached the table. She felt John squeeze her hand before releasing it and resting it on her side.

Iris was the first to answer, "No you look amazing." And Felicity notice her glance up and do a double take of something next to Felicity which she realised must have been John.

Barry however caught her attention as he said, "Yeah, you do." And as they both looked at each other he went red and glanced behind Felicity. "This must be your fiancé." He hurriedly said.

Felicity turned towards John tucked closely at her side, "Yeah this is John and John this is Barry." She stepped back as she felt John extend his hand towards Barry. They both greeted before breaking apart. Then Felicity directed over to Iris, "This is Iris, Barry's friend and…" she paused on Eddie as they hadn't formally been introduced, she didn't want to be presumptuous.

"It's good to meet you. Oh, this is Eddie my boyfriend." Iris half waved at John and then gushed over Eddie as she introduced him. "Eddie this is Felicity, Barry's Friend, I told you about the girl who phoned checking on Barry from Starling City." She added.

"Oh right hi." Eddie smiled over at Felicity and nodded to John his greeting.

Felicity felt awkward at Iris' introduction of her, and she glanced about taking in the table and the room. She saw the table tag with E=MC Hammer, "E=MC Hammer, that is funny." She looked to Barry then to John figuring that they would get the reference. John chuckled.

Barry smiled and said, "See?" pointedly looking at Iris and Eddie, who seemed to be unsure.

"I'll go grab us some drinks." John said to Felicity dropping a kiss to her hair before walking over to the counter. Felicity nodded her agreement, she had another scour of the room and saw an empty chair at an empty bar table that she slipped off to grab for John.

By the time John returned from the bar the quiz was about to start, he passed a drinks cup to Felicity, "I got you a Mexican hot coffee." He said then slid into the empty seat on Felicity's left as she was sat next to Barry.

"What did you get?" She asked curious as she slid her cup a little further over and into the centre of the table so she didn't knock it.

"A hot coffee grog without the rum." He answered. "Try a sip." He offered.

Felicity took his cup and took a little sip, the smell and taste was delicious it reminded her of autumn. "Mmm that's really nice. I'm guessing mine is spiked so you can't try it?" John nodded.

The host of the quiz started to speak to the room drawing everyone's attention and began explaining the rules and calling out the team names taking part. They then went into the first questions. "First question of round one. What does the 'www' stand for in a website browser?"

John, Felicity and Barry in complete sync went. "World Wide Web." With Barry typing the answer on the tablet to be submitted.

"The answer goes to E=MC Hammer." Announced the host.

The table cheered with Iris and Eddie looking a little lost while Felicity high fived both Barry and John at the same time.

"Next question." The host started as the room quietened. "What geometric shape it generally used for stop signs?

The table seemed to turn to Eddie for the answer, "Pentagon?" He answered, unsure.

Barry scrunched up his face at the answer, "Octagon." He corrected and submitted the answer just as the Host called out the winner of another team.

"Sorry." Eddie apologised looking upset.

"Easy mistake." Felicity tried to reassure.

"What is the name of the biggest technology company in South Korea?"

Felicity didn't even hesitate to answer, "Samsung."

Barry inputted the answer and the host called out their team's name again. Felicity gave a little celebratory dance in her chair.

"Alright, which animal can be seen on the Porsche logo?"

John lent forward closer to Barry, "It's a horse." Barry entered it and a few seconds later the host called out the team name once more.

Barry looked over surprised at John and John noticed, "My youngest brother is into cars and race driving so I learnt a few things." He explained. Felicity turned and beamed at him.

"Next, what was the first soft drink in space?"

"Coca Cola." John answered once again.

Barry inputted that answer.

A few seconds later the host announced, both team 'E=MC Hammer' and 'Pride and Padawans' claim a point.

"I guess they like space too." Felicity commented.

"You know about cars and space very opposite topics." Iris commented.

John smiled kindly at Iris, "Space is more of a lifestyle for me." He said cryptically. Felicity nearly choked on her drink.

The questions continued and were mostly answered between Barry, Felicity and John for the first round. At the intermission between rounds Iris turned her attention to Felicity, "I knew you two would make a good team." She commented looking between Barry and Felicity.

Barry cleared is throat, "Yeah but with the addition of John we rock." He added.

Felicity felt an awkward tension fall on the table Iris was being a little odd she was noticing some comments just completely ignored that she was taken a taken woman.

"So, Felicity, John, what do you both do?" Eddie asked.

Felicity glanced at John before she answered first. "I work in computer sciences at Queen consolidated."

"I am a communications consultant for Tracy Engineering." John answered.

"Really?" Eddie seemed surprised.

Iris jumped in at that point before anyone else, "How did you two meet?" She gestured between Felicity and John.

"We met at a conference." They both said together. Felicity and John exchanged looks and laughed about the synchronicity they both had before John continued. "I was presenting and saw Felicity in the first row, decided to ask her for a coffee and Felicity was kind enough to accept."

"Aww, how could I say no?" She gushed back, they hadn't really had to tell anybody, she'd been vague with Dig and Oliver, and John's family knew the whole story. She hadn't really thought of what details she'd give if the need arose. She probably should especially as she'll have to face her mother in the future.

Before more could be said amongst the group the host drew everyone's attention back to the next round of questions.

Barry passed over the tablet to Iris this time to input and just in time as the first question, "Which Tasmanian marsupial is known for its temper?"

Eddie bounced a little in excitement, "Tasmanian Devil." He said quietly to Iris. Iris typed away quickly while Barry looked shocked at Eddie. "What? I watched the Looney Tunes." Eddie justified.

"And the point goes to E-MC Hammer."

"Yes." Eddie celebrated and the rest of the table cheered well done to him.

"Okay, what can be broken but is never held?" The host said.

The team went quiet while each individual thought, then Iris jumped in excitement and typed into the tablet.

"The Eggheads by a scrap score the point." The host announces.

"Wasn't quite fast enough." Iris said looking upset.

"Next time." Eddie encouraged.

The round continued for a while longer before the next intermission arrived. Iris jumped straight back into questioning, "So do you live in Starling City as well?" She directed towards John.

John looked at Iris and answered, "No unfortunately. My family home is just of the coast of Australia, work however means that I am rarely home."

"Oh, it must be great to travel and see the world." Iris added.

"It has some perks to see the world is a privilege but also it can be lonely too. Sharing is a much better experience." John replied, he subtly bumped his shoulder to Felicity's.

Eddie interrupted, "I'll go grab another round of drinks." John offered to help him.

If felt a little awkward at the table and Felicity excused herself to the restroom.

Another two rounds of the trivia passed with the last to go when Eddie's phone went off. He checked it before turning to Iris, "It's work, Snart's been spotted. I've gotta go." He stood and pulled his jacket from off the chair back.

Felicity looked to Barry and met his eyes. She nodded and looked to the door hoping he would get the hint. He didn't. Iris and Eddie were oblivious only talking amongst themselves as Eddie was getting his jacket on, Felicity noted as she turned to John she said, "One minute." John nodded his understanding.

Barry was heading out himself and Felicity jumped down and chased after him out the opposite door that Eddie was going. As the approached the doors Felicity said. "I'll cover for you."

"All right, what are you going to say?" Barry asked as he pushed through the door holding it for Felicity.

The squabbled back and forth between typical excuses she's used for Oliver, Barry being squeamish about illness eventually Felicity got annoyed, "Just go!" Before the o finished the space in front of her was empty and a wind knocked about her hair. "Stay safe." She continued before her brain caught up to the fact Barry was no longer there. "And I'm talking to air now, which will look crazy." She glanced about and the alley was still empty. "Just stop talking and go back inside." She instructed herself turning and heading back inside.

She was the first back to the table, Iris was no where to be seen so must have been outside with Eddie. "Hey." she said over John's shoulder as she slipped back into her chair and rested her head against his arm.

John leaned down and kissed the top of her head. "Hey yourself. Barry needs to work on being more subtle." He chuckled.

"Yeah, turns out he also has no idea about excuses, I've got to think up something before Iris comes back and apparently illness is not an option." She sighed. "When we're done here can you drop me off at S.T.A.R Labs?"

"Sure. Better think up that excuse here comes Iris." John agreed.

Iris smiled at them both as she reached the table. "Where's Barry gone?"

"He uh… The… He got a call about a crime scene needing attending. He said to say its been a great night and he'll call you tomorrow." Felicity fumbled thinking on the spot for something believable and that Barry could work with. Tonight, had really made her grateful of the openness between her a John with these things.

"Oh." Iris said looking upset.

"I'm sure we can manage the last round together." John added.

Felicity took the tablet the countdown on the screen showed 30 seconds before the last round started.

It ended up being John and Felicity answering the questions, Iris seemed to have lost all interest and it made things a little awkward. The team came joint second place which was surprising with three geniuses but then again there were a lot of general topic questions that had bemused them. John offered Iris a ride back to her place if she needed it, but she turned down the offer. They bid goodbyes and left the excitement of Jitters Trivia night out into the bustle of nightlife of the city.

"Well that was fun and awkward in differing measures." John exclaimed when they were outside walking back to the car.

"Yeah, Iris was really nice when I first met her, but she seemed a little off tonight in comparison. Especially after Eddie and Barry left." Felicity agreed.

"So you know the way to S.T.A.R Labs?" John asked as they walked along the sidewalk approaching the car.

"Vaguely, I've got directions up already." She waggled her phone at John as he walked to her door and opened. "Thanks." She added.

PAUSE

John had dropped Felicity off, he was a little apprehensive at letting her go inside alone, the place looked desolate and as if gangs could be hiding inside. The outside did not match the description Felicity had provided of the inside with the equipment and laboratory rooms it held. When Felicity had vanished inside John drove away back to the hotel.

Inside Felicity found Barry sat on the medical bed with Caitlin examining him and talking aloud. Dr Well greeted her and Felicity stopped by the desk listening. "Frost-bite." Felicity caught Caitlin saying.

"I thought he had hyper healing." She blabbed as she was processing what was happening her mouth had just gone on its own accord.

Caitlin looked up at her and answered. "It's been slowed." She stated then focused on Barry. "If your cells weren't regenerating at the rate they are, your blood vessels would have frozen solid, and the nerve damage would have been permanent." She had stepped back from Barry and focussed on the computer screen with the data backing up her statement. "You're lucky to be alive."

Barry was annoyed he pulled down his shirt and stood walking around the lab trying to process. "Snart wasn't another meta-human. He had some kind of gun, it froze things, slowed me down. Enough that I wasn't in time to save someone."

Felicity pulled out her phone and did some background on Snart, she may as well be useful, "According to his record, Snart didn't even bother to finish high school, so how did he build a hand-held high tech now machine." She said as her brain processed the situation.

The room went quiet for a while Felicity looked about the room before Dr Wells started to speak. "S.T.A.R Labs built the gold gun." He was fiddling with something in his hands and not making eye contact with anyone in the room.

Cisco continued, "Dr Well and Caitlin had nothing to do with this. I built the gun." He moved forward into the room. Felicity saw how guilty he looked admitting to that.

"You did?" Barry asked confused. "Why?

Cisco and Barry hashed out over the specifics of why. Even Caitlin tried to step in and defend Cisco. Dr Wells remained quiet and Felicity watched on as she saw Barry hit hard over the betrayal and he stormed off.

No one spoke for some time it was just an awkward silence with everyone reflecting on what just happened. Felicity eventually put her phone away and turned back towards the desk to put it away into her bag and she removed her shawl draping it onto the bag.

"I know we don't know each other very well but I've learned a lot from working with the Arrow and team dynamics. Trusting is a slow path shown by deeds, with one deed it can be earned and with another it can be lost. You don't always have to be open with everything to earn trust but at least be honest. There is always the chance someone could be bad and one day we may need to stop them but while they are good, we should always be honest about these possibilities." Felicity imparted some of her hard learned wisdom on the room.

"Now I'll try and find Barry while you guys try and find a way to locate Snart." Felicity imparted as she followed where Barry had gone off to.

Felicity searched the corridor checking every room until she came across Barry, of course he was in his training room, flat out on the treadmill. She stood watching for a while in the observation room, the speed output on the monitor was not as high as it had been showing that Barry was still affected by the cold gun wound. She absentmindedly played with the locket while she watched Barry for a few more minutes giving him the space he needed but knowing that him pushing himself like this also wasn't going to be good for him.

She took a deep breath and walked into the room calling his name. He kept running, so she called him again until he stopped and paid her attention.

Barry was sweating profusely, he looked exhausted, and hollow compared to the happy healthy Barry she had been with during the day. She walked up closer to the treadmill. "What? What are you doing?" Barry huffed out between huge breaths. "You should go back to your hotel, get some sleep. John must be wondering where you are?"

"You should too. No go back to my hotel… I meant get some sleep. And John well he knows not to ask questions about night life." Felicity answered Barry she watched as he clambered down from the treadmill and sat on the edge, he looked so defeated.

"I can't. Every time I close my eyes, I see that man's face. I watched him die. I have to go faster." Barry admitted before finding resolve and standing ready to go again.

What is it with hero's and self-punishment. She thought. "Barry, it's not your fault." She started, Barry scoffed, and she emphasised, "It's not Cisco's, either." She went on to justify Cisco and explaining the long road that Team Arrow went on to build their trust.

"This path you are going to see a lot of people get hurt or worse like tonight, someone with more experience than me once explained that they had to understand that they had to let go of the fear of losing people to lessen the nightmares. You need to sleep and get rest if you're going to be on your A game." Felicity tried to impart some advice to try and help Barry she didn't want to see him suffering needlessly. He was now back on the treadmill about to attempt pushing himself more so Felicity went to leave she'd said what was needed to be said it was up to Barry now.

At the doorway she added something else, the latest that she had learnt. "I've seen first-hand what this life can do to people. It's a lonely path. Don't make it any lonelier than it has to be." She gave Barry a sad smile before she walked away and let all that they had discussed process.

Felicity headed back to the main room and joined Dr Well and Caitlin at the computers they were scanning the City for Snart. Cisco wasn't in the room. "How is Barry?" Dr Wells asked.

"He is working it out. It'll take time but he will come back around." Felicity answered.

They all waited in quiet, Felicity pinged a message over to John to say she was safe but still tied up, the reply was almost instant back to keep safe and he'd wait up for her.

Barry walked into the room but remained quiet and kept to himself watching the repeat monitor showing the tracking currently processing on the main PC.

Cisco came into the room and instantly started explaining a tracking method involving the cold gun.

Felicity of course helped where she could, hacking was her forte after-all, and Barry left with a disconnected comm. Link.

Felicity sat in the silence for a while before she decided enough was enough, she spoke to Cisco and Catlin, Dr Wells had left as soon as Barry had. She gave them a pep talk, told them exactly what it means to be a team and convinced them to go to Barry's aid. This Snart guy was calculated, and Barry would need his team behind him even if he didn't realise it.

Felicity set the ping program onto her phone while Cisco and Caitlin got together supplies and they went in Caitlin's car.

The signal was moving consistently along the tracks until it suddenly stopped and Felicity directed them to the nearest level crossing that would allow them to move along the tracks to the signal.

The car abandoned at the side of the road they clambered out and ran up the tracks as best as they could given they were carrying the Cisco' special device. They entered the train wreck and traversed the devastation, as they came around one coach on its side across the track they saw Snart over Barry.

Felicity saw Cisco straighten up, aiming the device at Snart and challenging him. It was tense, Snart really was calculated not your typical criminal at all. Cisco was brave and quick Felicity was impressed, the group really had great potential together, Barry would be well looked after.

Snart eventually backed down and retreated, diamond and gun but at least Barry was safe from him for now. Felicity dropped the device and rushed to Barry's side, while Cisco boasted.

Felicity started to help Barry up when Cisco crouched in front of Barry and they called a truce. Cisco assisted in helping Barry to his feet, Felicity helped keep him on his feet while they took the long walk back to the car.

It was now the early hours of the morning, John had rung her a few times before she managed a quick message back to him to stop his worrying. He'd seen the news on the train derailment and of course sightings of the streak, so he knew she was involved somehow.

Barry had been checked over and Caitlin had said based of the previous cold injury that Barry would need at least a full day to recover. Felicity now dead on her feet, the adrenaline was waning. She had already asked for John to pick her up when they got back and he'd be outside now so she went up to Barry.

"You have a good team here Barry. I am glad to see you up and about. There isn't anyone more suited to being a hero, Barry. Look after each other and call me if you need anything." Felicity said to Barry. She stood awkwardly wanting to give him a hug but not wanting to hurt him either knowing the frost bite was painful for him.

"Thank you Felicity." Barry said.

"It was nice meeting you Ms Smoak. Please extend a hello to the Arrow from us." Dr Wells called over.

"I will do that." Felicity agreed. She turned and walked out.

John was in the same spot as when he dropped her off. She slipped into the car, she leaned over and kissed John hello before buckling in relaxing back in the seat and shut her eyes.

John started the car moving before he said anything. "Want to talk about it?"

"Yes but later, I need sleep. Jet lag on top of a log day and late night is so not a good combination. I might be getting too old for this." She mumbled.

John laughed. "Maybe too much time on Tracy Island." He countered, I could not link Felicity with old she was full of life and happiness even with the difficult and dark she had to face.

"Nope." She simple stated and popped the p.

"You'll be glad to know that I adjusted the arrangements of the flight out for late afternoon so you can sleep in as long as you want." John informed Felicity.

"Perfect." Felicity was only just keeping herself awake now, the cars movement making the task that much harder.

PAUSE

Felicity woke late morning to the smell of coffee, John had been out and grabbed coffee and pastry breakfast for them both.

After a relaxed breakfast where Felicity told John what had happened to Barry and the incident with the train. She gave up any pretences and just told the whole thing, chances of John and Barry meeting as the Streak were slim to none.

Early afternoon Felicity enjoyed a long self-pamper time while John had a conference call with his Tracy Engineering team.

At the airport in the lobby as they walked in was Barry, John went over to the desk to take care of the hire car and plane. Felicity walked over to Barry, "Don't tell me you're here to save me?" She joked.

"Planes are still the safest way to travel." He reassured.

Felicity smiled, she was in the safest plane available on the market looked after by the best of the best but Barry didn't know that.

She decided to impart one last bit of hard learnt advice to Barry before she left. "You remember when you told me you had a little experience, liking somebody who didn't see you the same way?" Barry nodded looking a little sceptical. "What was Iris, right?"

Barry looked around before admitting it, "How did you know?"

"It's the little things. The way you linger on her when she isn't looking, the smile you fake to play the part." Felicity admitted, she remembered all that from her crush on Oliver.

"Like you and Oliver." Barry started. "Takes one to know one." Barry sniggered he looked away. Felicity nodded. "I'm afraid it'll change everything." He admitted.

"Yeah once, and it will but maybe that's not such a bad thing? If Oliver had told me before I met John things would be different now. He waited until I got engaged and by then it was too late, but it is better to know than hide it." Felicity told Barry.

"You look so much happier with John, and I am glad, he is a lot less scary that Oliver. I guess I'll think about it with Iris." Barry said.

Felicity laughed at Barry believing Oliver is still scary when he could run rings around him. "Don't think for too long, okay?" Barry nodded.

Barry stepped closer to Felicity turning serious, "If you ever need anything, I will race over in a heartbeat." He promised her.

"Same, well as fast as I can run, which might take me a while, maybe fly when I get my pilots licence, but I will still come." She promised back, knowing that Barry would have healed by now she stepped up to Barry and pulled him into a hug. Barry returned it.

"Bye, Felicity."

"Stay safe, Barry." She said and he streaked away. Felicity spun around to make sure no one was looking in this direction before she relaxed and went over to join John.

NOTE - I really REALLY hope that I got the Flash characters right, most was as the original episode went John just slipped in there. I want Felicity to still have a good friendship with Barry. Views and reviews are so very much appreciated to feed the muse beastie.
