Chapter 13
When Whitney brought us to the gym, she already left to prepare. We find the gym guide and he says, "Yo! Champ in the making! This Gym is home to Normal and Fairy-type trainers. You have to be careful."
We nod and Ethan says, "This is the first time there are two types in one gym..."
Reisa says, "If you use Fighting Types, it will be good for Normal Type. But Fighting is weak to Fairy Type, so this is a gym that you need to play smart."
As we continue, we find the first trainer: A Beauty named Victoria. "Oh, you are a cute little Trainer! I like you, but I won't hold back!"
This causes Lillie and Kris to glare at her, but I just want this battle to get over with. She uses three Sentret, while I go with Heracross. With the Arm Thrust, the Sentret faints in the end and the trainer says, "Let's see...Ooh? Is it over?"
We then go to the next trainer, which is another Beauty named Samantha. She says, "Give it your best shot, or I'll take you down!"
"I see you try!" I say. And the beauty sends out two Meowths to battle, I go for Croconaw for this one. It uses Low Kick to defeat the two of them as well. "No! Oh, Meowth, I'm so sorry!"
Then we continue moving as we get to a Lass named Carrie. She says, "You shouldn't let your guard down just because I don't look tough."
She goes for a Snubbull, and I mutter, "So here comes the Fairy Type, that means Fighting Type is not going to work."
I send out Spinarak to battle, with the String Shot to tie the puppy Pokemon up, and it defeats the Pokemon with Poison Sting. "Gosh...I thought you were weak..."
"Never underestimate your opponent." I reply back.
The final trainer is the Lass named Cassie, and she says, "I like cute Pokemon better than strong Pokemon. But I have strong and cute Pokemon."
Then she sends out three Jigglypuff, much to my horror. I have to use Golbat. By using the Poison Fangs and the Supersonic, the three Jigglypuff are fainted in the end. "Oh, no, no, no..." She widens her eyes in horror after her Pokemon are fainted.
And finally we arrive at where Whitney is located. "Everyone was into Pokémon, so I got into it, too! Pokémon are super cute! Do you want to battle? I'm warning you-I'm good!"
"We'll see about that." I say with a smile.
When the referee states that it is going to be a two-on-two battle, she says, "I'm ready for a rumble. Are you ready for it?"
"I'm ready when you are." I say back.
"Good, now you're up first, Clefairy!" Clefairy jumps into the field, and I say, "Quilava! I choose you!"
After the two Pokemon are on the field, Whitney says, "You know what to do, Clefairy!"
Just then, much to our horror, Clefairy is waving its fingers. East says, "That's Clefairy's Metronome attack!"
"You never know what kind of attack will come out of Clefairy's Metronome." Reisa says.
"I want Ash to win, but I also want Clefairy to win as well..." Lillie mutters, and it causes the others to look at her with surprise.
"What's up with her?" Ethan asks.
"I think she's still salty when her mother evolved her Clefairy into a Clefable by using a Moon Stone, and Ash just captures a Clefable instead of a Clefairy when traveling in Kanto..." Reisa says.
"I know that Clefairy can whip up a strong gust, but get ready for everything, Quilava!" I yell.
Just then, much to our surprise, Clefairy is using a Splash attack. "Oh no! It's imitating Marikarp..." Whitney mutters.
Quilava is confused before going for Flamethrower attacks, and Clefairy is panicking. "Oh no! Clefairy can't take this! Please hold your fire!"
The Clefairy then rushes to Whitney, who smiles, "It's okay. You don't have to battle anymore."
"So I guess I won the first round?" I ask. "I guess this match is too easy. I guess the sooner we beat her, we'll get that Plain Badge."
"This isn't over yet." Whitney says. "I still have one more Pokemon left. I choose you!"
And much to my horror, Whitney sends out Miltank. "Oh no... a Miltank..."
"Miltank is not a pushover." East says, "Considering it has a high base stat total..."
"Miltank! Use Rollout attack!" Just as I expected, Quilava is hit by a super-effective attack. I try to have Quilava use Take Down, but Miltank keeps rolling and dodges the attack, eventually Quilava is knocked out.
"The problem with Rollout is that the more turns it gets, the more damage it deals with." Reisa says.
"Quilava! Return!" I recall Quilava and send out my next Pokemon. "Poliwhirl! I choose you!"
I decided to use Poliwhirl as my final Pokemon. Lillie asks, "Are you sure that Poliwhirl is a good idea?"
"I don't know. But we have to try." I reply. Then I have it use Mud Shot, but the attacks aren't stopping the Miltank and the Rollout keeps hitting me. I say, "Use Rain Dance!"
I just come up with this idea because I wonder if the friction of the wet floor will make Miltank harder to roll, and just as I expected, Miltank has a hard time turning around with the Rollout.
"Oh no!" Whitney yells in shock. I say, "Now use Hypnosis!"
"Quick! Dodge the attack!" Whitney yells in horror, but Miltank has a hard time dodging because of the wet floor, and the attack hits and Miltank is asleep.
"That is a nice move, Ash!" Ethan yells.
"Finish with Wake-Up Slap!" I yell, and Poliwhirl defeats the Miltank with the attack.
"Waaaaah! Waaaaah! ...Snivel, hic. ... You meanie!" Whitney starts to cry, much to our surprise. Kris says, "It is the first time seeing a Gym Leader cry after losing a gym battle..."
I walk towards Whitney and she says, "Sniff... What? What do you want?"
"Do you forget the rules of the Pokemon League? I won the gym battle, so there should be the badge, right?" I ask.
"A Badge? Oh, right. I forgot. Here's the Plain Badge." Whitney stops crying and she gives me the badge. "The Plain Badge lets your Pokémon use Strength outside of battle."
Strength... good thing I have that HM, although Ethan won't have one. Ethan says, "Now it is my turn to battle."
"Sorry, but I have to close the gym, please come back tomorrow." Whitney says, which causes Ethan to frown. I sigh as I say, "Don't worry, we can spend one more day here in Goldenrod City."
"I guess you're right..." Ethan mutters.
The next day, we're at the Pokemon Center until we find Whitney, who greets us and wants to take us to a secret place that she wants to show us. It turns out to be a Miltank dairy. Of course, we all want to go there because of the delicious Moomoo Milk products.
We meet Whitney's grandfather and he shows us around the place and gives us the milk to drink. Togepi has drunk the third glass, much to our amusement, and Whitney and his grandfather decide to get some other food for us to try, until we find Team Rocket running out from the storage room with the products and Whiney's yelling, "Come back there!"
"Team Rocket! They manage to get back from Saffron City?" Ethan asks.
"Now is not the time!" I say. We chase after them and I have Pikachu shock them with the Thunderbolt. Lillie and the others manage to take back the products. Team Rocket is furious and they send out Arbok and Weezing. Whitney just has Miltank use Rollout to send them flying.
"I'm very grateful for you guys to help out. How can we pay for you?" Whitney's grandfather asks.
Ethan says, "I was preparing to battle Whitney for a Gym badge. So I think maybe I can learn more about Miltank?"
"Well, I know a perfect way for you to learn more about the Miltank." Whitney says.
It turns out that we're all helping her with farm work, which we aren't complaining. We also managed to explore the place and see how the Moomoo Milks are produced by machines. Then we decided to watch Whitney train her Miltank on top of the hill, it was actually awesome since Miltank is actually fast and the strength is powerful.
However, Team Rocket comes back with another machine, I know they aren't going to just give up that easily. The machine resembles a giant barrel, and they already captured Whitney's Miltank and rolling toward us. They also grab Pikachu, much to my annoyance.
"Seriously... Giovanni isn't commanding Team Rocket right now and they still do this?" I mutter and Ethan says, "Exbo! I need your help!"
Then he has Quilava use Tackle on the machine, causing it to keep spinning. Kris says, "I'm helping as well! Megaree! Use your Vine Whip attack!"
Then Kris' Bayleef also attacks, and the attack causes some trenches to appear. Then they accidentally break the machine and free both Miltank and Pikachu. I say, "Pikachu! Thunderbolt!"
Then Pikachu fires the attack and sends Team Rocket flying once more. After thanking us again, Ethan says, "I have an idea. About my Gym battle, how about we have it right here right now?"
"Why not, you earned it. Although there won't be any gym trainers for you to prepare." Whitney says.
"I'm fine by that." Ethan says.
Then Ethan battles her Miltank, and Whitney even gives him a two-on-one against her Miltank. Ethan manages to play smart by creating trenches to dodge and make Miltank stuck. In the end, Ethan's Exbo defeats Miltank in the end.
"Here it is, the Plain Badge. It's yours." Whitney smiles while giving him the badge.
"Thanks, Whitney." Ethan says with a smile.
Before leaving, Whitney says, "That's right! I heard this thing called the Pokéathlon Dome is now open right next to the National Park. You should go try it since you're so good at battling with your Pokémon!"
"Okay, we will." I say as we bid them farewell.
When we are back at Goldenrod City, we hear that the contest is being held. When I was going to register for the Contest, we also met Ariel on the way.
"Hi, Ariel. You are here for the contest, too?" I ask.
"Of course. I guess you're in this as well. How about Reisa? I kind of feel bad after defeating her last time. Does she feel better?" Ariel asks.
"Yes. But she decided to watch this time. I am going to get the ribbon." I say to her.
"We will see." Ariel gives a smirk.
In the first round, I went with Bayleef. She uses its Leaves to make a special performance, the one which makes the crowd go wild is the Energy Ball and Leaf Storm combined. Ariel uses Aipom, she also does pretty well as she lets Aipom jump on the Swift attack. They both get to the second round.
"So this is the power of Ariel…" Reisa mutters, she is still a little sad about the loss.
"Yeah… No doubt she would move on to the next round." Lillie says.
Ariel and I use Houndour and Pikachu respectively to defeat our opponents, and we face each other in the final round.
"So we will face each other." I say.
"Yeah, but I am not going to lose." Ariel adds.
Pikachu first uses Quick Attack covered in Thunder Bolt, Houndour is hit and it loses a few points. Houndour uses Crunch and Fire Fang, which also hurts Pikachu badly. They both use attacks and they aren't backing down. Not long after, the time is up.
"The winner of the Goldenrod Contest is…Ash Ketchum!"
The crowd cheers at my spectacular performance. Ariel also congratulated me when I was awarded the second ribbon.
Back outside, Ariel is now with our group. Reisa asks, "So Ariel... I want to ask, is Giovanni really not dealing with Team Rocket right now?"
Ariel says, "Just because he wasn't leading now doesn't mean Team Rocket is disbanded. I am going to destroy them and bring my father back to my mother. Although I wonder... when I confronted my father, I saw seven shadows eavesdropping on our conversion nearby. I assume that you are the ones?"
We all flinch, of course, she must have seen us. I say, "So what if we are?"
"I used to look up to my Dad since he was the number one trainer to me. After learning what Team Rocket did, it disgusted me. I just hope that the conversion back then should be kept a secret." Ariel says.
"You can count on us." I reply, and then we bid farewell to each other.
We also get to the Flower Shop, and we meet a woman who says, "Apparently, there is an odd tree at Route 36. They say it dances when you water it..."
As she notices our badges, she says, "Oh, that's a Plain Badge from Goldenrod Gym! Did you defeat Whitney? Well, then there's nothing to worry about, is there? I'll let you use this SquirtBottle for a while then...Oh, never mind. I can just give it to you."
We then get the SquirtBottle from the lady, we thank her, and leave the shop. Before we head to the gate for Route 35, we hear a familiar voice.
"Well, if isn't Ash?" We turn around and the one who's greeting me is Bill, "How have you been?"
"Great, what are you doing here?" I ask, and Bill says, "I have a house here in Goldenrod City, I just finished adjustments on my Time Capsule."
"Time Capsule? What is that?" Then before he continues, I introduce my new travel companions to him.
"You know that Pokémon can be traded, right? My Time Capsule was developed to enable trades to the future." Bill says. We are surprised to hear what he says, and Ethan asks, "To the future? Is that even possible?"
"Relax, the process is that we put the Pokemon inside into a deep sleep, after some time passes, people from the future can get the Pokemon." Bill says. We all sigh in relief, this is what they mean. "And we have to be careful as well. One move might cause some breakdowns as well."
"I see, glad to see you still working hard." I say.
"And by the way, since you are here, I have a favor to ask you two." Bill says as he sends out two Pokeballs, and out comes two Eevee, much to our surprise.
"Two Eevee?" Lillie asks.
"They came over when I was adjusting the Wi-Fi Connection with the trades. Someone has to take care of it, but I don't like being outside. Can I count on you to play with it, Ash?"
"Of course. We will like to take the Eevee." I say.
"I knew you'd come through! You're the real deal! Way to go! OK, I'm counting on you. Take good care of it!" Bill says. " I have to hurry on back to Goldenrod and see my folks. Buh-bye!"
We bid farewell to Bill and leave Goldenrod City. I'm also happy to get two new Eevee for new Eevolutions.
Here is a new chapter, and in this chapter, Ash and Ethan get the third gym badge and I add some Anime and Game plots in it. I hope you like this chapter.
