Fate Whispered to the warrior 'You cannot withstand the storm' and the warrior whispers back 'I am the storm'

"what's taking them so long?" Nami whined from her viewpoint on the ship. The red sky was starting to appear on the horizon - dawn time was nearing. The ginger continued to pace while the others waited anxiously.

"Wait... what's that..." Usopp pointed, moving the scope from his eyes as he saw a dust cloud raising in the distance.

"hhhhheeeeyyyy!" Luffy called, hands waving windingly at the crew.

"Luffy! You late!"

"Look at this!" he lifted his hands upwards, "it's a Hercules!"

Dawnya trailed quietly behind him, a confused look shadows her showing features. Why the boy was obsessed with the bugs of the forest, she didn't know. It wasn't something she quiet understood.

She had to spend a good part of 30 minutes trying to convince the boy to leave the bug alone, only to capture it with the wind and gave it to him to quickly show the others.

"There was a slight delay" she muttered to Nami, glancing tiredly between the bug and captain as the boy showed the buy off to Usopp and Chopper.

"it's to by expected don't worry" Nami let out a heartful sigh before storming up to the boy. Delivering a swift punch to the back of the head.

"We need to go!"

-x-x-

The new upgraded going merry drifted along, following the direction of the south bird who head always faced south.

Dawnya stood of the decking, waiting with the others, eyes watching the dubiously still seas surrounding the island – looking for a sign of the knock-up stream.

"How was the fight?" Zoro stepped beside her, leading against the railing, arms crossed over his chest.

Dawnya thought back, mind drifting to the fight at had occurs hours before. "It ended quickly. A single punch"

"A single punch? I knew his punches were weak, didn't think he was that weak" muttered Zoro, resting his hand on the hilt of his blades.

"He underestimated Luffy, from earlier actions. Believing that he had the upper hand from the early beat up and hidden devil fruit"

"He had a devil fruit?"

"Spring-Spring I believe..." Dawnya nodded, "he was very slow, bouncing all over the place. Luffy took him out with a Singal punch. Out cold" she explained.

Zoro glanced towards her, "Slow, eh? We still haven't had our sparing match, yet you know..."

Dawnya nodded, "very true. When we get to the sky island? Things just seem to be putting it off"

"it's a date" grumbled the male, a smirk growing on his face as the prospect of their awaited up and coming fight.

"Woah! What's that!?" the sudden called of usopp snatched the pairs attention away from other to the situation at hand.

Chaos.

The ship went from gentle sailing to chaos. The crew running about the decking at Nami shouted orders. It was hard going, the ships crashing against waves as the seas began to chur causing the crew to stagger across the wooden board.

Dawnya lightly danced across the rigging pulling ropes as the boat creaked and groaned. It didn't sound healthy at all. Would the ship make it? Or would the hull crack and spintler under the crashing waves of the sea?

Would the going merry be, okay?

Suddenly the world was spinning, as a giant whirlpool was formed. The seas current, slowing dragging the ship towards its centre.

Dawnya was silent staring wide eyes. Sky blue hues glinting in the daylight she felt the winds whirling around them. Even if she were to die... she would be glad to have some joy before the end and to die a free person.

The others... had varying reactions.

"They never said we would be sucked in!"

"woah!"

"Dont worry I will project Nami-san, Robin-chan and Dawnya!"

"This is my first time seeing such a Huge whirlpool"

"No! NO! NO NO NO! Go back! I want to go back"

"Forget it usopp its too late, somebody already hyper"

"Here I come sky island!"

Dawnya watched with veiled amusement as usopp, chopper and Nami panicked, running about trying to get the crew to turn about – shame that they didn't realise that the ship had gone pass the point of no return... it would take a miracle to get the ship out of the strong fast flowing currents.

One moment the ship was being hit by waves on both sides, the next... stillness.

As they entered the very centre of the whirlpool, it all disappeared – the clouds above they head darkening as the storms brewed around them.

"The silence before the storm..." she muttered softly; head turned upwards towards the darkening skies.

"What happened?!"

"Disappeared why?"

"A whirlpool that big?! What the heck happened?"

"That's not it!" Nami exclaimed horror donning her features as she stared overboard. "it's started! The whirlpool had only disappeared to the seabed"

The notion made no sense to the swordswomen, but she nodded, nevertheless.

Dawnya barely glance at the incoming pirates, eyes flickering toward those of the familiar sniper. Instead, her head was turned downwards, towards the still seas below. Hues focusing on the murky waters below.

She could feel it

The swelling, the torrent of current. But not those of the sea.

The wind currents seemly coming from the seas below. The air whipping about violently in the depths of the seas. It was a particular sensation to feel the wind under the waters below. Her eyes widen as the currents suddenly shot upwards. As if it was trying to reconnect with the winds in the skies above.

It was terrifying.

But glorious.

The unrelating rage, power she felt raising higher and higher -

"GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"

The screams of the crew surrounded her, the terror filled screams being drowned out by the roaring wind that echoed in her ears.

She felt light, long raven locks whipping violently about her head, as did her clothes. She felt it – felt the tugging sensation of her limbs and freeing whispers on the wind begging – pulling her in all direction to join them free flying on the winds.

To the bitter ice winds of the north, to the humid wet winds of the east. To the parching heated winds to the south, to the peaceful winds of the west. Upwards to the thinnest points in the heavens and downwards into the still cracks of the earth. She was unprepared for the sudden shot, like being slinged shotted across the field. The upwards current slinging the ship and her upwards into the cloudy skies above. Leaving behind a gobsmacked pirates and smiling allies.

A tug at the corner of her lips seem to grow under the mask, as the winds whipped violently about them. She could feel her feet slowly lose their balance on the wooden boards below. None but one noticed,

"Hey!" Zoro gripped onto the swordswomen's arm dragging her back toward the ship while another arm held tightly onto a rail, hanging on to dear life at the sudden shift in gravity.

"It will be fine" she stared directly into the man's eyes. As her legs rose behind her, her body light as a feather rising in the ever-growing winds. Zoro being her only weight downwards "Trust me"

Zoro studied her face, dark hues staring with intention at what was visible of the female's face – searching for something. Something she wasn't sure about, but it seems that he found it. As she swordman reluctantly let go of her arm. Letting the wind take her.

"wait Zoro!" the crew screaming noting the situation the pair was in.

"dawnya!"

The winds cradled her, wrapping around her body like a loving figure giving her a hug.

As first as the wind dragged her about, choosing it path around the boat – pulling her along the wind currents but slowly, she started to pull at her power – at the devil fruit feeling the tug of winds moving her path.

"pah!" a sound exhaled from her mouth.

She was flying!

Her eyes were wide, glittering with excitement at the emotion course though her, unbeknownst to her below on the ship those of the crew watched grins growing on their faces as Nami shouted orders. The pirate crew noting the shining light blue hue, the growing crow's feet at the edges of her eyes.

"Never heard her be that cheerful before..." muttered Zoro watching the flying wind women.

"let's kept it that way, eh?" Sanji spoke next to him, having heard the green haired male words.

The pair glanced at each other before glaring. Turning in different directions as Nami shouted instuctors adjusting the sails to make riding the side of knock up stream much smoother.

Free.

That's how Dawnya would describe the feeling that erupted from her chest as she flew before the sailing – leaving the way upwards towards the growing wall of clouds above them.

Free.

That's what's being a pirate was all about, the freedom to sail the seas, to not let others control their choices and paths.

Free.

She was truly free.
