Welcome back to Uncharted Beyond Realms. Last time, the riddle of the pendants started to unravel as Nathan Drake found Runes on the back of the pendants that, when the seven pendants are assembled correctly, reveal... another riddle. The first part of it was solved pretty quickly, with Spyro and Cynder realizing they need to go to Warfang's Palace of Justice and find a set of statues. But what about the second part, something about Seven Sisters? Read on to discover...
(Our scene opens up outside a building resembling the US' National Archives, but with the columns replaced by statues of dragons in armor, single file left to right facing the street. We pick up just as Nathan Drake, Spyro, and Cynder arrive.)
Spyro: This is the place.
Nathan Drake: Well now what?
Cynder: Now, we wait.
(Thankfully, they don't have to wait long, as the Malefic Order representatives, namely their mysterious leader and the Watcher, arrive on scene, with Sully and Elena obscured but present)
Watcher: This had better not be a trick.
Cynder: Everything's just as we said. (Gestures to the statues) "Protectors in Single File", just like the second riddle said.
Watcher: Well then, where is the prize?
Nathan Drake: No. You hold up your end of the bargain first. Release my friends and we'll show you where it is.
Watcher: You dare to...
?: Hold. (To Nathan Drake) Very well human.
(With that, the leader of the Malefic Order moves his wings back, revealing two of his troops holding Elena and Sully. Seeing the cue from their leader, the two troops force Elena and Sully forward, falling to their knees. Rushing to help is friends, Nathan Drake comes up to them, ungagging Elena and Sully as he gets there)
Nathan Drake: Are you alright?
Elena: Been better, but I'll live.
Sully: (Sarcastically) I'm good too, thanks for asking.
Elena: (Seeing the pendants put together, then putting it together) Nate, you didn't...
Nathan Drake: It was the only way to secure your release.
Watcher: Now then, if the reunion is done, I suggest you show us where we need to go next.
Spyro: We don't know. All we know is that whatever these damn things lead to is here.
Watcher: Not good enough.
Cynder: He's being honest.
(As the dragons converse, Nathan Drake notices something odd about the square around them, it's patterned like stars.)
Nathan Drake: (Looking at the combined pendants, then realizing what the formation is) The Seven Sisters will lead the way...
Watcher: (Picking up the earlier conversation) If you don't tell us what you know, your lives are forfeit.
Cynder: I'm telling you, we don't know!
Nathan Drake: Yes we do. (Standing up) Or, at least we do now.
Watcher: Then start talking.
Nathan Drake: The riddle was more direct there than it's ever been. The Seven Sisters will lead the way.
Spyro: Nate, what are you doing? We have no idea what that means.
Nathan Drake: I do. (Holds up the combined pendants) The pendants are designed in such a way that they resemble the Pleiades, a pattern of seven stars visible near the constellation Taurus.
Watcher: This digression better mean something.
Nathan Drake: It's no digression. The Pleiades are also known as the "Seven Sisters". And in case you haven't noticed, the entire square is patterned like the night sky. (Looks down at his feet, revealing a large gap in the star pattern) I believe I'm standing right where they should be. My guess, reflecting the sun through these pendants will reveal the next step.
Watcher: Then get to it, human.
(truly unsure if this will work, Nathan Drake holds the combined pendants up to the sky, and as the sun reflects through the rose quartz gemstones of the pendants, they seem to luckily be in the right place, because the seven points of light hit a point on the ground, and with a flash, the square around that spot turns into a spiral staircase leading downward.)
Nathan Drake: I guess that's where we need to go.
?: Then, lead the way.
(Realizing they've got no choice, Nathan Drake leads the group down the spiral staircase into the depths of the city, to places unknown as our scene ends for today)
And that looks like a good spot to wrap up for today. So that's what the Seven Sisters meant, a particular star formation. And now it's unlocked, well, we don't know yet. But we'll start learning as things start to wrap up. I have no prediction of how many chapters there are until the end, but I know it's close. So, what awaits at the bottom of the staircase?
