"Hey, Bruce!"
He looked up in surprise when he saw Rainlily walk into the lab where he resided the majority of his time, but still, he smiled when she came beside him.
"Hey, what brings you down here?"
"I'm bored, but I thought I'd get to finally speak with you a bit," she answered, "so, what are you doing?"
He chuckled, "Just testing some things but nothing too much. Should be done soon."
"Oh, no problem! Did you need any help?"
"No but thank you. I'll let you know though; it'd be nice to have an assistant."
She smiled, "And how is it with Nat?"
Noticing the small nervous smile on his face, he removed his glasses, "We, uh, have a date tonight. Nothing fancy but, we're having it here; a picnic."
"That's adorable. Congrats, Bruce."
"Thanks…how's everyone treating you?"
He noticed the small leave her for a moment before she plastered a fake smile, "Everyone is very nice."
"Liar."
She chuckled, "Yeah, I am... Everyone has been keeping a distance for the most part but good. Steve looks more nervous than anyone else, though."
"What do you mean?" Bruce asked, surprised to hear this.
"He just…his caring attitude he had with me when we met is gone. Anytime I walk into the room, his eyes are always on me- and it's not a Bucky stare. It's enough for me to warrant caution, Venom is on edge."
"I'll talk to him."
"Oh, no, really, it's okay."
"But it's not. We are here to help you, and you're learning more about Venom. Just…give it more time."
"Okay." Was all she could say, smiling gratefully to him.
"And Venom? You look pale."
"Always hungry, he's getting stir-crazy too. Is there a simulation here I can use?" Rainlily asked, hoping it'd calm Venom down.
"Yeah, fourth floor. I'll let Tony know you're going down there."
"Thanks, Doctor Bruce. Have fun with Nat, okay? Don't work too hard."
He smiled, "Thanks."
Walking into the simulation room, she was ecstatic at the large space.
"Friday? What features does the simulation have?"
"Allow me to pull up the options for you, Supercuts."
She rolled her eyes but smiled, going through it until she saw a curious one.
"Dance floor?"
"Oh, you'll love that!"
Lily shrieked when she spun around, noticing Scott jumping back just as alarmed.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you," Scott said but relaxed when he saw Lily at ease, "bored, huh?"
"Yeah, I need to do something. I don't want to train again, if Bucky hears me." She confessed.
Scott smirked, activating the dance floor, making Lily gasp. The room went dim with almost nightclub ambience of bright neon lights strobing throughout the room, but he saw her more relaxed then when he usually saw her.
"Any song requests?"
She smirked this time, "Surprise me."
Tony was in a meeting with the rest of the team when AC/DC 'Highway to Hell' came through the intercom, and the team looked mainly amused; with only Steve, Vision, and Bucky unamused.
"Friday, pull that up, where is it coming from?"
"In the simulation room, sir."
Sam and Peter chuckled when they saw Scott and Rainlily singing and dancing together. Clearly Lily sang better, but Scott was fully into it:
"I'm on the highway to hell! On the highway to hell!"
"I'll, uh, go tell them to stop, Mr. Stark." Peter said, scrambling out of the room.
"I'll help him." Sam said, joining in.
Tony was a bit annoyed, and the Maximoff twins smirked; he was done for the day. But anything was better than being here, lecturing about damage costs to the city.
"Wait up for us, yes?" Pietro said, Wanda leaving with him. This only made Tony more upset.
"Anyone else want to leave?"
Loki smirked and disappeared, and Bucky slowly stood. He was done already if everyone was gone.
By the time Sam and Peter made it downstairs, 'Cupid Shuffle' by Cupid had came on and Scott was scrambling to stand beside Rainlily.
"Ready, Ms. Fresh?"
"Ready, Tic-Tac."
By the time the others joined, Scott and she were dancing together, and were unfazed when they saw their audience.
"Come on, join us! Sam? Peter?" Lily asked, offering her hand.
Peter smiled and took her hand, joining her at her side as Sam joined Scott's side. Nat, Loki, and Bucky smirked at the sight of Lily. This was the happiest they had seen her, giggling and dancing amongst them. Peter twirled her, making her laugh that much more as Sam took her hand after. Lily and Sam faced each other as they became in sync, and he had to admit, it was fun to let loose like this.
"THIS is what I expected when we came here," Pietro chimed in, "do you not all do this?"
"Seems unnecessary, but…it does look fun." Wanda spoke, considering joining them for a moment.
"Come on, guys, don't be spoil sports!" Scott shouted.
Wanda was considering it but when Lily approached her with the same opening hand, she looked at Lily in the eyes. No fear, no hesitation; just a bright happy smile…and she took her hand.
"You'll love it, just follow my lead." Lily said, standing close by Wanda's side as Pietro came to Lily's other side.
Going to the right three times, Wanda followed the lyrics and the movement, then following the left three times. She smirked when she did three small kicks before she saw Lily turn in a dance rhythm. Bruce had come down after hearing the commotion and saw the dancing going on, caught by surprise but when he saw Lily almost back to her old self, it all made sense.
"Can I pick the next song?" Peter shouted.
"Do it, Parker!" Sam shouted.
"Now, this I like!" Venom shouted in her head, but she continued dancing.
She was happy.
Tony had broken up the party sadly later on that evening, and the team had mostly separated but Lily kept herself in the living room where her and Scott were hanging out while she is waiting by the hot oven. She realized they had a lot in common.
"Wait a minute. You worked at Baskin Robbins? The ice cream shop!"
"Yeah, I did. You were a bartender?"
"And a beautician- I cut hair."
"Wow, so, can you do my hair for free?"
Lily chuckled, "Yeah, of course."
"Can I get one too, Miss Lily?" Peter asked, the team watching them interact.
"Of course, it's the least I could do!"
"You should ask for something," Pietro suggested, "so they don't take advantage in the future."
"Next time, I'll demand chocolate. That's my main food source right now." Rainlily hinted.
"Good, that's reasonable for your situation." Wanda spoke, looking at the guest more thoughtfully.
Hearing the chime, Lily jumped off the counter, opening the oven when Scott came to her side. Testing her desserts, she smiled at this and took out the four trays. Peter and Sam sniffed at the smell as Bruce came in with Bucky; Loki standing at the window as he looked outside.
"Is that brownies?" Bruce questioned, wondering if he smelled right.
"I did promise you last time when you were Hulk. I thought everyone would like some though. Enjoy you guys." Lily offered, stealing a hot brownie before she left to the sofa. Steve immediately took one before they others came for one.
"Thanks."
"No problem, big guy."
Loki saw her in the corner of his eye and came to sit with her. Looking over to him curiously, she cut her brownie in half, and offered the other piece, "Wanna try one?"
He looked at her out of curiosity but took it carefully. Bucky looked back, watching them as Loki took a bite, chewing slowly. Lily gave him a funny look but ate her other piece when Thor and Steve walked in.
"Ah, I see my brother is behaving. Good; how is everything here on Midgard?" Thor asked Bruce, but Loki was annoyed by his presence.
"Watch…" he whispered to Lily before we waved his hand over to Thor. Lily watched as a snake appeared in front of Thor's feet and she gasped loudly in alarm.
Thor looked over to see her eyesight, following to her sight to see at his feet a snake. He screamed hysterically, running out of the room as the snake followed him and Lily giggled hysterically. Loki chuckled, looking down to see Lily's hand on his forearm. Bucky saw Loki's face soften, looking at Lily almost in awe and in adoration, and he wasn't sure how to feel about it. He wasn't sure what Loki's intentions were, and Lily had enough on her plate.
"Oh my god, that was too good. What else can you do?"
"Curious, are we?" Loki asked, seeing the mischief now in her eyes.
"Of course."
"Why don't we see what you can do, pet? Can Venom come out?"
Lily's face grew serious, alarming Loki and although he dares not show it, he saw the familiar look of fear in her eyes. She was afraid of what was inside her still. She was afraid of what would happen if Venom took over.
"Let us leave here. Let us be free! We can't be here much longer jsut doing nothing."
"He's talking to you even now, isn't he?" Loki asked in a soft tone, a hand carefully placed on her elbow, knowing full well most of the team were carefully listening in.
"He always is…" Lily confessed, running her hands through her hair in frustrations as she leaned onto her knees. Her legs shake in anxiousness, Venom only getting louder.
"Let us out! We are a team! Not them! Look at them! They are afraid of you!"
Loki and Wanda could hear them from where they sat, Loki's skin contact allowing him to hear Venom. He was angry, frustrated, annoyed but was still patient…but that could only last so much longer.
Lily looked up at the team, and she couldn't help but feel they were right.
"We chose you! We came here for a purpose, you are ours."
"Don't let him sway you, Lily. It's him who needs you." Wanda said softly, fully realizing now why she chose to be alone all the time.
"Or let him out, who knows? You both might like it." Loki teased but she stood up, looking at him harshly.
"Excuse me."
The team watched as she walked hastily to her room. The team was silent, the room was tense when Steve finally spoke, "We should take precautions with her."
"What?" Wanda questioned.
"I have respect for her, I do, but she's a risk. A risk to herself and to others, and we can't afford to have her loose. Maybe we should separate Venom and her until we figure out the next course. Maybe Stark could put a security in place for her." Steve explained.
"Venom won't separate willingly, and we don't know what the effect will be on her. She's been careful and isn't a threat." Bruce stated.
"We can't afford the risk, it's too high."
"Everyone in here is a risk, no? Even you are a risk with that big shield of yours. You should lay off her." Pietro said.
"I agree, and she's been fun to have here." Scott stated, but it only made him upset.
"We are soldiers, we are here to protect those who can't protect themselves. We are not here for fun, we have a job to do," Steve said, crossing his arms, "maybe keeping her wasn't the right choice."
"You disgust me…" Wanda muttered, leaving the room before she did something she regretted.
"If she's a risk, you might as well lock me up too." Bucky stated, the rest of the room leaving Bruce and Steve alone.
"I know it takes a while for someone to warm up to you, but she's always had the best intentions, even now. So, show her some kindness." Bruce said before leaving the room.
He only hoped it didn't ruin anything.
Lily slammed her door, snuggling into her bed as she wrapped herself into a burrito blanket. She was really trying, but she didn't want to risk anyone's safety. Hearing a knock on her door, she refused to move, hoping they'd go away. Hearing the door open, she was forced onto her back where she saw an amused Bucky with a box of chocolates in his arm.
"Bucky, hey. How's it going?"
"What are you doing? Are you stuck, doll?" Bucky asked with an amused look.
She laughed nervously, shaking her head, "N-No, no, no! Not at all."
Unravelling herself, Bucky sat beside her watching her work as he held out the box of Kit-Kats.
"You said this was your favorite, I thought you'd like some." Bucky said, making her smile.
"They are…thank you, Bucky. Do you want one?"
"No thanks, I'm not into sweets."
"Awe, but you've been 'sweet' with these gifts."
Lily chuckled at her attempted humor, but Bucky looked at her a humorless glare, quickly making her stop. Clearing her throat, she opened the box when Bucky built up his courage.
"If you're not busy, do you want to watch a movie with me?"
"Really? With me?"
"Yeah, what do you say?"
"I'd love to. I believe it's your turn to pick." Lily said as she got up.
Bucky took the time to come sit on floor at the foot of the bed, and Lily joined him. After he picked a movie called 'The Terminator', Bucky noticed her covering herself with the blanket as she watched the movie in excitement.
"You like the movie?"
"I love it. This one of the movies that made me love a man in a leather jacket."
Bucky smirked mentally, something to remember later. When the movie was over, he looked over to her, and saw that she was asleep against his metal arm. With her arm hooked tightly around his metal arm, he carefully lifted her onto the bed but realized her true grip.
Attempting to pull away, she wouldn't let him go and he was stunned. Not many were comfortable with him, let alone feared his touch. She was in the same position, he realized, and he wanted to be there for her.
"Don't go." She muttered in her sleep.
He took a hard swallow but laid down beside her, though he expected no sleep with his discomfort of beds. Immediately, she rested her head against his chest, wrapping an arm around his waist. Bucky was hesitant but wrapped his metal hand around her shoulder, holding her in place. Resting his bare hand on her bare wrist, he took in her warmth.
He didn't dare to leave her that night.
Over the next few days, mostly everyone had left the compound but her, but she was given instructions not to leave the compound. Today, Bucky, Steve and Sam were leaving and even though her and Bucky were training daily, she didn't know what the next few days will be like for her.
"Hey doll," Lily looked up when she saw the trio walk in, Bucky coming towards her as the other two passed them, "you going to be okay while we're gone?"
Lily noticed his look, his dark blue leather jacket making her smile at how good he looked; did he remember from their movie night? Bucky caught her blush and smirked, she was a fan of it.
"Oh, umm, yeah. I'll be fine, but just be safe out there."
"Always am," he said, clearing his throat before he held out his hand to her, "here."
She saw his small throwing dagger in his hand and looked at him questionably, "Why are you giving me one of your knives?"
"Just in case. You've been training, and I can't be here. Promise me you'll have this on you."
She smiled, "I promise."
"Let's go, Buck." Steve shouted, and Bucky flashed her a lame smile.
"Have fun."
"You too, Terminator."
He chuckled, leaving her alone but his face grew serious when he saw the knowing look on Sam's face.
"Terminator? Doll? Can I get a gift too?" Sam teased.
"Shut it, Sam." He muttered before he left.
After they left, Rainlily trained rigorously for the first days, helping Venom stay calm but she couldn't help but explore the rest of the compound. One day turned into a week when her senses were feeling off.
"Something is coming."
"Friday, something seems wrong. Is anything here or incoming?"
"No, but our system is down. Attempting to start up."
"It was turned off?"
But still, Lily felt off, when she heard buzzing outside. Thinking it was one of the team members coming back, she went to the window, when she saw an unknown aircraft coming towards them.
"Friday? Who's that?"
"Intruder detected, alerting Mr. Stark. Please head to the holding cell for your safety."
Rainlily ran down the stairs when there was an explosion, causing her to fallback through the glass. Groaning as she fell on her back, she coughed hysterically when she saw the four helicopters with 'Life Foundation' on them; they had found her.
"Oh shit!"
Rainlily ran at full speed, Venom helping her dodge the bullets coming towards her, but she knew she had to give in to him.
"Venom, I need you!"
"Oh, hell yeah!"
Venom consumed her and jumped up into the air. Using his long reach, he swung the helicopter into another and jumped off before they landed into the woods. Running through the woods, Venom disappeared, brining Rainlily back as she laid low.
"I thought the compound would have protection, what the hell was that?"
"That Rogers character left it off. I knew not to trust him."
"What? No. No, why would he do that?"
"He wanted to give us the chance to leave on our own. You humans are very…angry."
"Not all of us are though."
She yelped as shots came through above her and Venom took control again.
"Allow me." Venom's voice now sounding feminine as they took off.
Venom threw trees as they dodged and weaved through the forest, hearing the crashes. Venom jumped up onto the top of the trees, looking around when she saw the four helicopters crashed on the floor.
Part of her wanted to go back to the compound, but if Steve did what was true…she was not welcomed there. Guilt rang through her as she thought of the others, they did nothing wrong, but it reminded her of her time in foster care.
She didn't like being where she didn't feel welcomed, or truly wanted.
"We must go, they will come looking for us."
"And where do we go?"
"We look for more information on Life Foundation. Remember, I'm not the only one here."
"Ah, shit. Okay, but I need to know what's going on. Why are you doing this? Why are you here? Why me?"
"You are a strong host. There were many we could've switched to but we have grown fond you, You and I are alike."
"Oh yeah, how so?"
"We too have always been alone. People judging us and make us feel weak. We came here to take over your world but…maybe you aren't so bad after all."
"Awe, Venom. Are we bonding now?"
"I will help you protect this imperfect world, but we really must go."
"…Okay, let's go."
"Smart choice, human."
When the team made it back to the compound in a hurry, they were alarmed to see the damage done to their headquarters. The team looked chaotically through the building but Tony went through the audio and vids. When Tony found what he was looking for, he called for a group meeting.
Meeting in the undamaged meeting room, it was clear Tony was irate but he seemed to contain it until everyone fully sat down. Without saying anything, he pushed play when he pushed the video.
"Friday, something seems wrong. Is anything here or incoming?"
"No, but our system is down. Attempting to start up."
"It was turned off?"
Lily went to the window cautiously, when she saw an unknown aircraft coming towards them.
"Friday? Who's that?"

The video cuts off to the cameras in the woods, showing Venom consuming her body. In a feminine form, Venom consumed Lily, his eyes pure white with sharp teeth and grew in height.
She ran at super speed, dodging and weaving but fended off the helicopters. Venom looked back at the compound, and took a step towards the compound for a brief moment before hesitating:
"We must go, Lily, they will come looking for us."
…
"We look for more information on Life Foundation. Remember, I'm not the only one here."
….
"You are a strong host. There were many we could've switched to but we have grown fond you, You and I are alike."
….
"We too have always been alone. People judging us and make us feel weak. We came here to take over your world but…maybe you aren't so bad after all."

Tony turned it off, looking directly at Steve, "You know, I wandered why she didn't come back. After all, we saw her wanting to come back, right? You all saw that,"
Tony leaned on the table, making sure Steve kept his eyes on him, "So I couldn't help but wonder why she wouldn't come back. But Venom is smart, observant; clearly, they knew something I didn't."
"What about the defenses? I thought you had them put in." Bruce asked.
"He did." Vision stated, and it was starting to sink in.
"Someone turned them off…" Nat muttered, looking at Steve.
"I did a report Capsicle, and YOU were the one to turn them off. Is there something you'd like to share with the class?" Tony asked.
Steve took a deep breath but remained silent, looking down at the table.
"Rogers." Bucky warned him, knowing that look too well.
"I didn't know it'd take everything down. Just enough for her to leave."
"Is this her being a risk to you?" Wanda questioned.
"That's messed up, Cap." Scott said, crossing his arms.
"She's been a risk, and a ticking time bomb. Look at how quick she turned to Venom." Steve stated.
"For her survival, you weak mortal," Loki spat, "any regular mortal would've died within seconds."
"She said she was going to the Life Foundation, we-"
"Sir, movement at the lab!"
"Pull it up, Friday."
Lily kicked the door down and saw the lab in disarray. There was blood and paperwork throughout the building. Making her way through the lab, she scrambled looking for an active console when she heard screaming in the building.
"Another symbiote?"
"Probably. If our host and I don't agree or connect, we eventually kill our hosts. Something to consider."
"Yeah, we'll talk after this, okay?"
"We should really get out of here."
Venom was trying to force her out when a body fell through the ceiling and took a step back. The man groaned but a light grey symbiote was travelling its body when he shot his eyes open to her.
"Oh, shit! Go, go!"
Lily didn't need to be told twice as the man shot up, running after her when she thrown into a wall. Groaning, the man pulled her at him, being held by the grey symbiote as she came face to face.
His eyes went white with grey veins appearing around them, "Mmm, you are stronger than this host. But it looks like you have someone in there. Come out!"
Venom came out, consuming Rainlily as the man consumed by his own symbiote.
"Venom!? You weak symbiote, why are you here?"
"The same as you Riot, unhand us!"
Riot laughed before attempting bite her, but Venom quickly through her legs up, knocking him back as she attacked him. Both fought relentlessly up until she was pinned down, when a loud frequency came through the ceiling intercom.
Both screamed as they came apart, the symbiotes separating from their hosts, leaving them both drained. Rainlily scrambled onto her feet as he charged at her, but she threw him over her shoulder onto the floor.
"Snap out of it! Run while you can, while that thing is out of you!"
"Nooo! Give it back!"
Riot consumed him once more, Venom overtaking her as they brawled relentlessly in the building. With Riot having the upper hand, Rainlily could only watch in anxiousness.
"Take him outside Venom, the information we need is here. We can't lose it!"
Venom followed the order, throwing Riot through the wall, chasing after him into the parking lot. Hearing an aircraft above them, Venom looked up and winced, both he and Riot falling to their knees as the high frequency came out again.
"It's…Quinjet." Rainlily hissed.
Riot, with its ounce of anger left, mustered up the strength towards the Quinjet and through a car towards them. It had evaded them, but the frequency stopped, and Venom through a car at Riot.
Tony came out in his suit and began firing at Riot to help support her. He roared at Tony, and extended his arm, dragging him down to him as he pinned Venom down. Rainlily and Venom were alarmed when they saw him attempting to transfer to him.
"Sir, it's seeping through the suit."
Tony shook his head, feeling his body on fire as a loud voice invaded his mind and fell downward towards the ground.
"NO!"
Venom knocked Riot back, catching Tony before he fell. Placing him down carefully, Venom took the remenants of Riot into their form before turning back to Riot himself. Riot shrieked at him, Venom shrieking back herself before charging at him.
The team watched as Venom and Riot rustled with each other, Venom being thrown into the forest, and the team were confused on what to do. Tony had come back to the Quinjet, and Bruce was beside him as the team surrounded him.
"Hey, you're okay. What happened?"
"Damn thing almost got into my head but Lily, or Venom, they both got him off…"
"…What did it feel like?" Bruce asked carefully.
"My body was on fire, and unbelievably hungry. But the voice, it was so…I know how she feels now…" Tony spoke, "we can't face that. Not like this. We need Venom to fight them out there."
Venom rolled out of the way, grabbing a tree and hitting Riot as the fight ensured. Riot had charged at him, Venom using her legs that her host knew too well to use. Jumping on it's back, Riot spiked him and she fell back with a loug pain groan.
Hissing as they felt tired, Riot grabbed them from the neck and lifted them.
"We will become one, brother."
The team watched horrified as they saw Venom divided painfully, hearing Rainlily scream out in pain, seeing her as they parted from one another. Seeing the same for Riot and the unknown man, Rainlily took out the knife Bucky gifted her and prayed…
And threw it.
The knife landed in his forehead as they both fell to the ground. Riot began to pull away and Venom quickly ran after him, consuming him before shifting back to Rainlily. She fell to her knees, panting heavily as she got herself together.
Rainlily heard the aircraft above them, the high frequency making her scream as she covered her ears, feeling Venom vibrate through her. She felt someone hands over hers and painfully opened her eyes to see Bruce with her.
He covered her ears with his own, and looked over her carefully, his face filled concern as he took in what just happened even though he could see her and Venom vibrating. Her eyes all black, black looking veins on her face when this happened, their echos beween her and him could be heard.
"You're okay." He assured her but she could merely nod.
Bucky came running to them and took out noise cancelling headphones from his jacket as he kneeled in front of her.
"I got her, Dr. Banner." Bucky assured him.
"W-We need to review the information h-here." Rainlily hissed through.
"We'll get it," Bruce said, before looking to Bucky, "take care of her for me."
"I will."
As Bruce went inside with Tony, Bucky covered her ears with the headphones and heard her sigh in relief as the pain subsided. She rested her head against his shoulder, alarming him. He was afraid to hurt others, and although he knew she could defend herself with Venom's help, he couldn't help but feel worried still at how at ease she was with him.
But she was in a fragile state right now.
"Hey, you okay doll?"
"I'm so…tired. And not hungry for once…" she answered, chuckling under her breath when she heard him from the headphones.
"Why don't you we get you inside so you can rest okay?"
She merely nodded, wrapping her arms around his neck as he lifted her bridal-style back to the aircraft. When they came in, he laid her down, surprised to see her already passed out.
"Barnes, we need you and Nat in here as well."
Bucky was conflicted on leaving her, but Wanda approached him, "I will watch her. Go."
"Thanks."
Wanda sat beside her, her leg almost touching her head when Rainlily rolled to her side, grabbing a fist full of Wanda's jacket. Wanda saw her face scrunched up but didn't make a noise of complaint and couldn't help but be curious. Pietro sat as Lily's feet when Wanda put a hand on her forehead.
Wanda watched Lily as a little girl under the bed as her parents were killed, being sent to different homes until she was raped. Feeling unprotected, she lived life running from each home until she was kept in a foster living with other kids. She learned to defend herself, take care of herself, entertain herself.
She saw Lily also aid Hulk, which explained her relationship with Bruce, and remaining in contact until she came to New York.
"Сирота." Wanda whispered, looking up to Pietro.
When they arrived back to the compound, Pietro had carried her to the room but rolled his eyes when he noticed her cling onto him in her sleep.
"I don't think you want me here, princesa." Pietro teased in a soft whisper.
"I've got her."
Pietro looked up when he saw Bucky take off his jacket before sitting down beside.
"Are you sure she'll go with you?" Pietro asked.
"Let's see…" Bucky leaned over, whispering into her ear as he placed his metal hand on her arm, "hey doll, it's me."
Lily released Pietro and rolled over to Bucky, latching onto his metal hand.
"Ah, I was mistaken, then. Watch out for her, alright?"
"I will." Bucky swore, his jaw clenched as Pietro left.
Once he was gone, he looked down at Lily and sighed softly, "Only cling to me, Lily."
