Only One

Chapter 4

My first kiss was on the rooftop of my mom's store.

Her name is Diane McFadden.

A kiss always means something. So I guess she's my girlfriend now. Carter thought to himself.

(We aren't here to play basketball are we?) Carter asked.

It was the weekend. Early. No one else was around.

My dad had driven us to get breakfast then we ended up here.

(I wanted to talk about girls dating. Open and honest.)

(You're older now. High school. Peer pressure. Hormones.)

(It's alot. You're mom and I were older two years older when you were born.) Lucas proclaimed.

(I know. Momma said that's a cautionary tale of what not to do.) Carter replied.

(Yeah I mean we were kids but we made the best out of it and you turned out incredible.)

(Growing up making mistakes figuring yourself out. Is all apart of the process.)

(We aren't here to judge just love and support you through it.) Lucas explained.

(Okay I'll be and Diane kissed on the clothes over bros roof.)

(And I don't really know what that means.) Carter admits.

(You and her need to talk and don't add pressure on yourselves to label anything.) Lucas advised.

...

(I'm in love!) Paul announced as he entered his mother's car in front of Tree Hill elementary school.

Brooke out down her cellphone and her Starbucks cup. And looked to him.

Honey. You're 10. I wouldn't use words like love. There is so much that comes with a big word like that.)Brooke explained.

...

As Brooke and Lucas met up with each other to catch up on the day and what was going on with their family. They made it a point to make each other a priority too.
