On hug picnic table overlooking the water and a view of the town.
Brooke and Lucas had their daily catch up session during one of their lunch breaks.
(During this talk with Carter you did tell him he isn't allowed to date yet right.!) Brooke asked.
Lucas took a long sip from his cup. (I didn't encourage him but I didn't not.)
(I mean Brooke. He's half Scott and half Davis. We should expect these kind of encounters to happen sometimes. What were you doing at 24? I remember what I was doing.) Lucas questioned.
(That isn't the point. He's too young to date. Especially at that school.) Brooke replied.
(You have no reason to worry and stress he's a good boy.)
(Now who is Paul crushing on now?) Lucas asked.
Brooke smiled. (He's in love. He claims. But that'll change.)
(Rosemary Taylor. Skills and Bevin's daughter.) Brooke replied.
Lucas nodded his head agreement.
(In ten years when we're going through this with our girl. It won't be so funny.) Brooke said.
(Dawn isn't going to date.) Lucas replied.
(When she's 16 and 17 as beautiful and wonderful as she is that will happen.) Brooke stated matter of fact.
...
At some point they finished their lunch and sat next to each other.
Looking out at the view. Occasionally gazing over at each other.
(You're a Scott. So are our kids. I want to be one too.) Brooke admitted.
(You are the heart and soul of our family. We don't need to be married to be committed to each other. And to prove anything to anyone.) Lucas replied.
(Don't you think I would make a good wife?) Brooke asked.
(You're the love of my life. My emergency contact. Mother of my kids.)
(I'm not going anywhere.) Lucas stated matter of fact.
Brooke didn't want this bother to her but it did. Everything he said about their life was true. Yet he was holding off on fully committing to her and that made her nervous. And brought forward that insecurity she thought she had outgrown.
