"Who's that girl? Where's she from? No, she can't be the one that you want That has stolen my world."
It was almost at clockwork, like she saw it coming. Every day, the same doofus trying to catch her attention.
Beacon Academy, the school for training the prospective Huntsmen of the future, young and idealistic young adults ready to learn about the world and to take down the monstrous and evil beings known as the Grimm. The black clouded beings that inhabited the world of Remnant for as long as humanity remembered, a very threat to their safety and society that needed to be eliminated.
The newly assembled Team RWBY said silently in the classroom, waiting for professor Oobleck's lecture to end in just a few minutes. Weiss was busy writing down notes, Blake was silently watching the lecture while Yang and Ruby leaned back into their chairs relaxed.
Team JPNR, minus their leader was sitting beside them, also silently observing the lecture.
"Where's Jaune?" Ruby said, observing for the first time that her best friend and classmate was not there "it's not like him to miss class."
"Maybe he overslept…by two hours" Blake said nonchalantly.
"Or maybe he's out planning an elaborate seduction technique in order to impress our resident ice queen over here" Yang said teasingly, poking Weiss in the side with a wink.
The heiress groaned at that comment. She had it up to here with Jaune Arc's attempts to woo her, at first it was funny, annoying but funny, now it had gone from funny to downright annoying and then from downright annoying to infuriating.
He wasn't the first, he wouldn't be the last, but he sure was the most persistent. Ruby found it adorable and honestly shipped her with him, calling them "Whiteknight" for some reason she couldn't understand. All his attempts served only to infuriate the young heiress even more.
"Oh please I hope it's not" Weiss groaned in frustration, pinching the bridge of her nose as she said so.
"Oh come on Weiss, Jaune is a good guy and he means well" Ruby said smiling.
"I'm sure he is Ruby but after a while it gets just really….ugh," Weiss said gritting her teeth "how would you feel if a guy was constantly trying to flirt with you?"
"Well I don't know…I guess I'd be flattered.." Ruby said blushing unsure.
"That's because a guy has never flirted with you before" Yang suddenly interjected with a playful wink, causing her younger sister to immediately bow her head down, blushing as red as an apple.
"Well praise your lucky stars you haven't. I have to put up with it on a constant basis and it's always the same! And the one time I did give a guy a chance he was only in it because of my family name and status, and that's how the song has been every single time" Weiss said indignantly crossing her arms.
"I don't know Weiss. Jaune seems kind of genuine, besides I don't really take him as the type to care about someone's family name" Blake said.
Weiss once again huffed "like you know what it's like to be involved with someone" she said. Blake recoiled slightly, turning her head away from her teammate but not saying anything in response.
Yang watched the scene unfold but uncharacteristically kept quiet, normally relishing in the ability to make a funny pun or joke was now silent, realizing there was no trying to reason with Weiss on this issue. The young heiress returned to her note taking as her attention returned to the class.
After a few more minutes Oobleck dismissed the class and Team RWBY proceeded to grab their backs. "The day is done! what shall we do next?" Ruby asked excitedly. "Let's go get something to eat, momma is starving" Yang said motioning to her stomach.
As the group was motioning towards the exit of the class, all students running out towards their newfound freedom and Weiss was once again preparing herself for an onslaught of compliments, wooing attempts and maybe even a big bouquet of flowers.
She walked in front of the rest as they exited the classroom, having her words ready to be spoken to what she expected around the corner. And as she turned the corner…
There was nothing.
He wasn't there?
Weiss looked in confusion at the empty corridor, expecting to see Jaune Arc standing there with another attempt to woo her over, but instead it was empty, he wasn't there. No serenade sung in her name, no cheesy pick up line nor gifts. Just an empty corridor which Weiss found herself staring at it, actually surprised to not see him there.
And it seemed Yang had caught on to it.
"Oooh is Weiss upset that her admirer is not there" she said once again with a playful wink and her fingers shaped into a heart.
Weiss was pulled out of her thoughts by that, a slight blush appearing on her face as she scoffed "hmmpff no! it seems he finally realizes he has no chance for him, good for him" she said, Yang just nodded along while winking, making it clear she wasn't buying what Weiss was selling, but regardless the heiress took the lead as her team followed.
They didn't come far however before Nora suddenly appeared in front of them, flailing her arms around excitedly.
"GUYS YOU'RE NOT GONNA BELIEVE WHAT JUST HAPPENED!"
Weiss, who had been standing in front received an entire earful of her loud yell and as such took a few steps backwards to compose herself.
"You don't have to yell Nora! What's going on?" Weiss said irritated.
"You need to see this! I can't believe it!" Nora just exclaimed as she pointed backwards, the hallway leading to the main hall as she immediately made a sprint for it!
"Hey! Wait up!" Ruby yelled behind her as she immediately turned into rose petals to follow the energetic redhead, Yang similarly ran behind them, her curiosity already peaked and Blake just shrugged her shoulders but also proceeded to run behind her team. Weiss looked down at her heels and sighed.
"I have to stop wearing heels to class" she said as she proceeded to follow her team, walking slowly as she saw her team disappear in the distance.
Weiss finally arrived to join her friends a good minute later. Yang turned to her as she joined them "you should stop wearing heels to class" she said in her usual playful tone. Weiss once more scoffed at her friend as she finally caught up with them.
"So what's going on! What did Nora see this time that required our immediate attention" Weiss said.
"Oh you're not gonna believe this Weiss" Yang spoke up, being the only to do so as the rest of her team, plus Nora all stared forward. Weiss made her way through her crowd of friends to see what the fuss was all about, as soon as she had and stood past Nora who was staring with wide glowing eyes in front of her, she wanted to ask what was going on but words left her mouth as she finally laid her eyes on what was in front of her.
She couldn't believe what she saw…
Nobody standing there could believe it…
Jaune Arc was standing there, chuckling and laughing, with a girl beside him, who was giggling softly and smiling at him.
"What the…" Weiss mumbled in disbelief.
"My team leader has a girl around him! Woohooo!" Nora yelled out ecstatically waving her arms in the air. Team RWBY was also looking with big eyes at the scene, Ruby with big round eyes of happiness as her best friend seemed genuinely happy.
Weiss on the other hand looked at the sight before her and felt frozen in time just staring at the girl next to Jaune. She was dressed in a black dress which ended in a skirt with red spots on it. Similarly black colored heels that mixed well with her pale skin and her long black hair, adorned with red highlights on the front.
Weiss looked at the girl like she looking in a mirror, a darker mirror. She was thin and not that tall, her hair was loose and not in a ponytail but she felt a deep sinking feeling boiling within her that she couldn't place.
"Oh hey you guys"
Weiss was snapped out of her thoughts as she saw Jaune waving towards the group. The entire group moved forward toward where he was standing with the mysterious girl, Weiss followed trying to keep her thoughts under control.
"Well boss who is this new girl, your girlfriend!" Nora said teasingly with a smirk. The young warrior blushed and immediately responded with "oh no! not at all! She's just new and principal Ozpin asked me to show her around!"
"Phew not his girlfriend…wait why am I thinking this?" Weiss thought.
"Hey," the girl spoke up smiling happily at the pair "my name is Alida, it's so nice to meet you" she then extended her hand to the entire group, who all happily shook it and introduced themselves. Weiss just kept observing her, she was smiling, like happiness was an emotion she exuded like the sun exuded heat. When she eventually reached Weiss, the heiress put her best foot forward and smiled.
"Nice to meet you I'm Weiss"
"Oh yeah! Jaune talked a lot about you, said you were very talented" she said with an endless smile as she shook Weiss' hand. "Well he is not wrong" Weiss said with a confident smile.
"Alida here is new and principal Ozpin asked me to show her around," Jaune said "so that's why I was absent from class. Hope I didn't worry any of you, it just happened so suddenly."
"That's so sweet of you Jaune" Ruby said.
"Yes he's such a sweetheart, showing me around the school, offering to help me with my training!" Alida said excitedly, jumping slightly into the air before pulling Jaune close by his arm.
Weiss felt a pit in her stomach as her fingers reached around Jaune's arm, almost like she was claiming him…she tried to wrap her head around what was going on, to stunned to say anything.
"Well we need to keep going, I still need to show her around more. Nora I will see you and the team soon, bye guys" Jaune said.
And with that he disappeared with the new girl by his side into the crowd of students as Team RWBY and Nora stayed behind, each of them now with curious questions about this new girl at school and how Jaune was already so close with her, Nora and Ruby were ecstatic about it, Yang and Blake were curious about it, and as for Weiss…all she could do was stand there, her mind drawing a blank with a weird feeling in her stomach.
Jaune was normally all over her…only her…his eyes only focused on her. And now his attention was focused completely on someone else…and she was just left with one lingering thought.
"Who's that girl…"
A/N: A yes a new story and one that I think will be a big one, with rather fantastical elements and new fun Original Characters to interact with. To be honest I came up with this idea quite randomly and hopefully it will appeal. It's rated M for potential smut in the future, but like my Lessons in Love series I want to try and incorporate into a good story and not turn it into full on smut.
