[Location: Castle Oblivion.]
"Come on, Sora. Do it. Finish me off!" The hooded boy yelled as he prepared to receive the finishing strike from a spiky brown haired boy.
The brown haired boy relaxed his combat stance, refusing to finish off his opponent.
"Why won't you do it?...I get it. You've seen through my disguise." The hooded person pointed at the boy with one of his two Keyblades.
"I'm just like everyone else you've encountered in this place, made of data. I'm not even worth the effort, is that what it is? Guess there's no point in destroying something if it never existed. Is that right?"
The brown-haired boy's response left the hooded man speechless.
"Not at all." The boy said as he placed his arms behind his head in a relaxed/amused manner. "You say you're an illusion, but you certainly pack a really big punch."
"..."
The hooded person did not know what to say while he listened to that boy the most.
"You said that you'd show me hurt, and you weren't wrong." He said in a relaxed manner, as if that fight between them hadn't happened at all. "Actually, the hurt that I just felt…was more than that."
The brown-haired boy approached the hooded person unarmed, and acted as if they were old friends.
"Sure, it might have hurt while we were fighting, but I sensed a different kind of hurt from you…it was kinda like…an intense sharp pain….but it felt sort of familiar…almost like it was my own."
"..."
"As if we'd been connected, like right then we shared the same hurt. If somehow, it brings me closer to people in that kind of way…then carrying around a little hurt can't be all that bad." The boy finished speaking, leaving the hooded person surprised, it seems that he finally understood.
"'Can't be all that bad'? All right, I give up. here. You pass, Sora. Congratulations, you understand hurt. Now, use this to find the truth." Said the hooded man as he threw a letter at the boy.
"What do you mean?" Sora asked a bit confused.
"My role was to see if you were ready to take ownership of the hurt inside you. And now that role is done. Nothing left for me to do, but...go away." The hooded person replied with a tone of sadness in his voice.
Then Sora asked one last question. "Are you gonna go back home?"
"I don't know if I really have one…I shouldn't exist in the first place…" The hooded person replied as he walked slowly towards the large door behind Sora.
But his progress was interrupted by Sora's words.
"Everyone belongs somewhere, you just need to find it, it can be complicated but it will be worth it in the end." He said this with a smile on his face.
Roxas looked at Sora one last time before walking through the door.
To the Nobody's surprise, on the other side of the door, there was a person, a person who wore the same black coat as him.
Before Roxas could say anything, suddenly, the room around him changed to an endless white, as if he were in an infinite void.
"So, how'd it go? The test." Said the stranger, who from his voice sounded like an adult.
Roxas stared at that figure, he didn't know why, but he felt a monstrous power emanating from that man, so, due to feeling threatened, the Nobody answered.
"It was okay...Sora understands what hurt is..." he simply replied, seemingly elating the stranger with his response.
"Ohhh, really? Well, to be honest, I already knew that the boy was going to emerge victorious from that test." The stranger said, changing his mocking/sarcastic tone to a serious one.
"But now that the test is over and his journey is about to end, a question keeps running through my head..." He said as he pointed at Roxas. "What will happen to you when his journey is over?"
Roxas stared blankly at the hooded man and answered bluntly. "Disappear...I'm just the digital copy of Sora's Nobody...something that shouldn't exist..."
Hearing that, the stranger chuckled, while instantly teleporting to the Nobody's side and grabbed his shoulder.
"You know something kid...I've never liked sad endings, in fact they disgust me." He said this while having a visible chill. "So I have decided to give you three things, which you will accept whether you want to or not."
The hooded man began to wander closer to Roxas while he had his hands behind his back.
"First I am going to transport your soul/essence or whatever it is that makes up your being, into a physical body, basically you will be a Nobody made of flesh and blood and not a junk of data." He said as he formed the number one with his fingers.
"Second, I am going to erase any trace that you are a 'digital being' from your memory, I would not want you to live with existential crisis." He said, making a two with his fingers.
"And finally I'm going to give you exactly what you want from the depths of your being...a place to belong..." He said this as he snapped his fingers, causing a Corridor of Darkness to appear.
Roxas was going to question him, but was once again interrupted by the stranger. "I know, I know. This is so sudden, but unlike the other data beings in this virtual world inside a diary, you do not have any mention in any entries in this diary, which will cause you to vanish from existence…other than that, I must inform you that, being the data version of the original Roxas...you wouldn't be able access the outside world, if you did, you would disappear, due the fact that the heart of the original Roxas would absorb you...and unlike the data versions of Sora, Riku and Namine, they can keep their hearts inside this virtual world…but you can't…"
The man stopped walking him and stared at Roxas.
"Basically I'm offering you the chance to exist in a reality apart from the original Roxas, the chance to forge your own path….so…what do you say kid?" The man said as he offered a handshake.
Roxas looked at the stranger's hand and began to ponder. 'It's true that I'm not the real Roxas and I don't want to replace him or anything like that…but disappearing from existence with no one to remember me sounds horrible….plus I want to find a place to belong…'
Roxas sighed and shook the man's hand, suddenly his vision began to blur and he felt like he was slowly losing consciousness.
Before passing out he heard the stranger's last words.
"May your heart be your guiding key."
[Location: Kuoh, Issei's house, rooftop.]
In the middle of a rooftop was Hyedou Issei, who was putting away the clothes that his mother had left on the roof to dry, Issei was bothered by doing this (especially at night), but he knew he couldn't say 'no' to his mother.
While Issei was putting the dry clothes inside a basket, suddenly some kind of dark portal appeared out of nowhere, and suddenly a person fell from it.
That person was wearing a black leather coat with a hood, and from the little that could be seen of its face, he seemed to be the same age, more or less, as Issei.
Issei, seeing this, went blank and could only say:
"WHAT THE @#&!?"
