Chapter 7- The Trio
"Why are you spending so much time with Ethel?" Maud casually asked Mildred.
"She hasn't got anyone I know why but everyone needs someone" Mildred responded. "She has changed, she really has".
"Where was you earlier?" Enid asked out of breath as she had ran to the girls.
"I was helping Miss Hardbroom and Miss Cackle with something" Mildred said with a matter-of fact tone to her voice.
"Why was Ethel with you?" Enid quipped.
"She was also helping".
"Why weren't we invited" Enid's jealously was coming through, she hated the thought of losing Mildred as a friend.
"What's with the thousand questions, Ethel has been going through some stuff and needed some help, Miss Hardbroom and Miss Cackle wanted our help with something seen as we were in the woods, you weren't there for her to ask you to help. What would be the problem seriously with letting her join us?" she noticed Enid's face that clearly showed she couldn't believe what her friend was saying "people change and yes even Ethel".
"No way is she hanging round with me" Enid stated.
Maud had listened to Mildred with curiosity, she had noticed Ethel had changed, her lack of confidence and the way she kept herself locked in her room.
"I mean I wouldn't exactly hate a trial with her, she's always in her room anyway these days" Maud said.
Enid couldn't believe what she was saying she pulled a face and walked of, she was fuming, she didn't want Ethel the Evil in her friend group.
Mildred new this situation would take more time for her friends to come round to the idea especially Enid. She hadn't expected her friends to be ok with it but the thought was now in their minds, she hoped they would come round to accepting Ethel.
Mildred sat on her bed doing her Spell science essay when Enid walked in.
"OK say I'm listening, why exactly would you want Ethel to join us when all she's done make your life a living hell since you have been here?" I get you think she's changed but it's clearly a cover. She's probably waiting for the right time to attack.
"Did you ever think maybe she is expecting someone to attack her, did it ever occur to you that she might be scared of everyone right now?" Mildred responded as she looked up at Enid. Enid's face fell she clearly hadn't thought of this. "She has changed and believe me she has been severely punished for it, I will not explain how as it's personal to Ethel".
There was a screaming sound and then Mildred's bed started moving from side to side, both girls screamed. Miss Hardbroom transferred into their room and saw Mildred sat on her bed which seemed to have taken on a life of its own.
"Grab my hand" she said as she approached Mildred's bed, Mildred did, and Miss Hardbroom had yanked her of the bed and into her arms.
"Everybody out"
The door banged shut and all three jumped out of their skin, the bed had stopped moving. They turned around and there sat on Mildred's bed smiling was Nansi. Mildred and Enid took in Nansi's face, dress and the blood on her lower region.
"You are mine" Nansi spat and then she stood up and as if the bed was as light as a feather, she threw the bed out the window.
"My homework, it was nearly done" Mildred sighed.
Nansi turned to look at them and she laughed when she caught sight of the teacher "Figured me out yet" Miss Hardbroom nodded "two down now let's find out why I died" she cackled as she disappeared.
"Probably because she's psychotic" Enid stated. She looked at the other two and realised she's the only one didn't know who this was. "Who is she? I thought ghosts didn't existed".
"Ghosts don't however Poltergeists do and that was, Nansi Hubble" Miss Hardbroom simply stated.
Enid turned to Mildred "Who is Nansi Hubble?"
"She is one of my ancestors, she died when she was fifteen" Mildred answered.
"OK, so why is she here, is this one of Ethel's jokes?" Enid asked with suspicion.
"No, there's no way this is Ethel, Ethel is more concerned with punishing herself than to start causing issues this year".
"When you say punish, what exactly do you mean?" Enid was intrigued. She looked at Mildred and her teacher and no-one would answer they both looked like it was a sensitive subject.
"Mildred you're in my quarters tonight, grab what you need" Miss Hardbroom stated.
Mildred had grabbed what she needed and looked back at her window, she walked over to it and looked down and saw her bed in pieces on the floor, Miss Cackle looked up from being stood by the broken bed, luckily no-one had been injured by it. Miss Cackle picked up what looked like Mildred's homework which had managed to land unscathed.
