Soon, the group was lead to the lab they saw, and Jacques saw a young man writing things on a clipboard.
"Good day Henry." The worker looked over.
"Oh, good day sir."
"A reminder: the boat to the mainland will be leaving at 1900 hours. Everyone must be at the dock no later than 1845. No exceptions." An announcement then came over the loudspeakers.
Ruby walked over to a nest, and looked at the machine turning the eggs. It was there, she said, "Guys, over here!"
The gang and the others came over, and they saw what was happening: an egg was moving about, with a little crack in the shell.
"Ah, perfect timing! I'd hope they'd hatch before I had to go for the boat!" Henry said as he saw what was about to happen.
"Henry, Henry," said Jacques, "Why didn't you tell me? I insist on being here when they're born."
The little dinosaur pushed it's way out, with Jacques saying soothing words to it, making Weiss and Winter very uncomfortable a bit. Soon, the egg broke, and the top half was stuck on the baby like a hat. Jacques was careful to remove the shell, and everyone looked at it with much fawning.
"Oh my god," said Ellie.
"So cute!" said Ruby, Nora, Yang and Weiss.
"They imprint on the first creature they come in contact with," said Jacques, "Which helps them to trust me. I've been present, for the birth, of every living creature on this island."
"Surely not the ones that have bred in the wild." Malcolm said as he was watching the hatching."Actually, they can't breed in the wild. Population control is one of our security precautions here. There is no unauthorized breeding in Jurassic Park." Henry spoke up as he stood next to the gang.
"How do you know they can't breed?" asked Ren.
"Because all the animals in Jurassic Park are female," replied Henry.
Ruby was holding the baby close to her, with it chirping and squealing.
"I so badly want to keep you," she said.
"I want one!" said Nora.
"She's so sweet," said Weiss, "I love her."
Everyone looked at Weiss with surprise, as she said, "What? I have a soft spot for cute things."
"But, how do you know all the dinosaurs are female?" asked Ian.
"Maybe they go out and pull up the dinosaur's skirts?" asked Nora with a grin.
"Nora!" Ren gently scolded.
"We control their chromosomes. It's really not that difficult. All vertebrate embryos are inherently female anyway. It takes an extra hormone at the right developmental stage to create a male. We simply deny them that." Henry explained."Denied them that?" asked Blake.
"Wait," said Jaune, "Does that mean when Ren and I were embryos, we were girls at one point?"
"John, the kind of control you're attempting is not possible. If there's one thing the history of evolution has taught us, it's that life will not be contained. Life breaks free. It expands to new territories. It crashes through barriers. Painfully, maybe even...dangerously, but, and...well, there it is." Dr. Malcolm told John, then gestured to the little dinosaur."So, what are you saying?" asked Yang.
"Are you implying that a group composed of entirely female animals will... breed?" asked Henry.
"No, all that I'm saying is, that Life, finds a way," said Ian.
Grant was currently holding the baby dinosaur, and asked, "What species is this?"
Henry looked up, and said, "It's a, Velociraptor."
Grant, Ellie, and Ruby looked up, and Alan asked, "You bread raptors?"
"What's the problem with a Velociraptor?" asked Pyrrha.
"It's a human sized carnivore when fully grown," said Ruby, "hunts in packs, long dexterous arms, a giant killing sickle claw on the second toe of each foot."
After that, they looked at the baby dinosaur, which was now curled up in Alan's hands, fast asleep, looking very peaceful.
