Soon, everyone was now seated, and only Blake was eating, seeing that she loved fish so much. All around, there were projectors showing slideshows of what was to come in the following months.
"I spent almost a year thinking of everything," said Jacques, "None of these attractions are open yet, but they'll come out along with the basic tour you are about to witness."
"And we can charge anything we want," said Donald, "2,000 a day, 10,000 a day, and people will pay it. And then there's the merchandise-"
Oh brother, thought Weiss, That's something Father will agree on. He loves money more than anything.
"Donald, Donald," said Jacques, "This park was not meant to carter the super rich and famous. Everybody in the world, has the right to enjoy these animals."
Whitley rolled his eyes, and said, "Sure, we'll give free coupons to those pesents that-"
Jacques stood up, and said, "Whitley, that's enough! This is to help clean up the image that we have for the public! Humans, and Faunus alike can enjoy this park."
Weiss, Winter and Willow were shocked at the sternness in Jacques' voice. He really meant it.
"The lack of humility before nature that's been displayed here staggers me." Malcolm suddenly spoke up, and the others all looked to him. "Thank you, Dr. Malcolm, but I think things are a little different than you and I feared." Gennaro said looking rather annoyed at Malcolm."No, it's a lot worse," said Ian.
"Now, hold on," said Gennaro, "We haven't even seen the park yet-"
"No, no, let him talk," said Jacques, "I wish to hear his opinion."
"Don't you see the danger, John, inherent in what you're doing here?" Dr. Malcolm said. "Genetic power is the most awesome force ever seen on this planet. But you wield it like a kid who's found his dad's gun." Gennaro then spoke up, obviously not happy, "It's hardly appropriate to start hurling-" "Excuse me, excuse me-" "Generalizations before-" "If I may." Malcolm managed to get Gennaro to be quiet while he talked, which Ruby thought was just plain rude, but Jacques said he can voice his opinions. "The problem with scientific power you've used is it didn't require any discipline to attain it. You read what others had done and you took the next step. You didn't earn the knowledge yourselves, so you don't take any responsibility for it. You stood on the shoulders of geniuses to accomplish something as fast as you could, and before you knew what you had, you patented it, packaged it, slapped in on a plastic lunch box, and now you want to sell it." He then slapped the table for emphasis. "I don't think you're giving us our due credit," said Jacques, "Our scientists have done things no one could ever do before.""Yeah," said Ian, "But your scientists were so preoccupied with what they could, did they ever stop to think that maybe they should!?"
"...Condors, and Giant Salamanders," said Jacques, "Condors, and the Giant Mistral Salamanders are on the brink of extinction. If I were to, no, if I were to breed a flock of Condors, and a group of Giant Salamanders on this island, you wouldn't have anything to say against it?"
"No, no," said Dr. Malcolm, "This isn't a species that was obliterated by deforestation, or, or the building of a damn. Dinosaurs, had their shot, and nature, selected them, for extinction."
Jacques then asked, "I don't understand this Luddite attitude, especially from a scientist. How could we stand in the light of discovery and not act?"
Ian then scoffed, "What's so great about discovery? It's a violent, penetrative act that scars what it explores. What you call discovery I call the rape of the natural world."
Blake then said, "The question is-how much can you know about an extinct ecosystem, and therefore, how could you assume you can control it? You have plants right here in this building, for example, that are poisonous. You picked them because they look pretty."
"I agree with Ms. Belladonna," said Ellie, "These are aggressive living things that have no idea what century they're living in and will defend themselves. Violently, if necessary."
Ruby spoke up, "Sir, I think I'll save my opinions after the tour. I loved learning about these animals as a kid, and well, I've always wanted to see them in the flesh. I can't speak for everyone else, but I want to experience this, before I judge anything."
"Although," said Jaune, "This is risky. Like Dr. Sattler said, these are living things that will defend themselves if not treated properly. I've seen people get attacked from dogs who were abused, or mauled by cats who were neglected."
"And these aren't like the Grimm," said Ren"They are real animals, not monsters. They can live well, and be perfectly fine, isolated on this island."
Jacques couldn't believe what he was hearing, and he then said, "Dr. Grant, if there is anyone here besides Ms. Rose that can appreciate what I'm trying to do, what would you say?"
Alan looked up, and sighed before saying, "The world has just changed so radically, and we're all just running to catch up. I don't want to jump to any conclusions, but look. Dinosaurs and mankind, two amazing species, separated by 65 million years of earth evolution, have just been suddenly thrown back into the mix together. How can we have the faintest idea of what to expect from this?"
"I don't believe this!" chuckled Jacques, "I don't believe this! I expected this from Winter and Weiss based on their past with me, but your meant to come down and defend me against these characters(referring to Malcolm and Gennaro) and the only one I've got on my side is a Young Huntress and the Blood-Sucking Lawyer!"
Donald then took some offense to this, and said, "Thank you."
Jacques was then whispered something, and said, "It's time."
