Sesshoumaru was Shou Yasei. A Michelin-star chef. And working at a café while his employees facilitated his menu instead of basking in the fame and glory on a regular basis.
"Why?" she'd uttered after finally finding her voice.
"It is calming here," he stated, shrugging casually before heading back to the counter.
"You—" She looked around, remembering she wasn't alone in the café, then followed him. "You literally have two huge restaurants, but choose this place instead?" she asked, giving him a dubious look.
"I have spent enough time in bustling cities, Kagome." Ducking behind the counter, he shifted a few displays, amber eyes looking up at her through his glamour. "Would you not choose a place where no one questioned your decisions?"
She snorted. "Like anyone does that with you."
He sighed. "You would be surprised how entitled patrons can be when they feel their money has not been well-spent." He motioned to a family sitting in the far corner, a teen girl sharing a piece of cake with her younger brother. "That is the view I prefer."
