"She is much better now," he mused. "Though the palate of a phoenix youkai can handle more than others."

"Her mate must have an iron stomach," Kagome said.

Sesshoumaru's lips twitched. "No, but he has gone up in flames due to her experimenting with new spices."

Kagome coughed, the sip of tea she'd just taken coming out through her nose as she tried to contain her laughter. "You can't be serious!"

"I am always serious." His tone emphasized his point, but she caught the mischievous glint in his eye and started laughing all over again.

"You'll have to let me know the next time they're in town. I'd love to see her again."

Sesshoumaru offered her an extra napkin. "I will be sure to bring it up when she next has cell service."
