Since I had broken my red glasses from the fall when I ran into Serena awhile back, I had to steal a pair from one of my teammates just so that I don't get in trouble again. Who I stole it from will be fine, since they don't have warnings like I do.
I polished my glasses with my tie while in the middle of the Frost Cavern with one of my teammates beside me to keep any intruders from entering the path our scientist was working in
"Hey..." my teammate shivered beside me, rubbing his arms "aren't you cold?"
"It's not even that cold in here. Stop being dramatic" I said, still cleaning my glasses
"I lived in the tropical part of Kalos. We don't get much snow or ice at those parts" it gets cold at nights and I've grown to get use to it. This guy will not last long in the streets like I have "How long are they going to deal with that Abomasnow? It's been ages"
"Be patient. You wouldn't want to get caught complaining" he sighed and stood straight again
"You think even the cold will be wiped out once our leader succeeds?" He asked. I don't even want to answer that stupid question. If he really thinks that a weather pattern will suddenly disappear, he has problems
Each time I looked at my glasses, I'd think back at the times they kept getting involved in my and Serena's situation, whether she accidentally kept them, traded with me, or broke them again when we ran into each other. It was getting harder and harder to get her off my mind, and after what Shauna told me a few weeks back, my head had been scrambling everywhere and it's giving me a headache!
"Hey" My teammate called me. I ignored him and kept daydreaming "Someone's coming- oh shi-" his voice took a tumble. I flinched and looked over at Serena sitting on top of his body on the ground
"Whoopsy!" She laughed, rubbing the back of her head while the red headed boy from before ran towards us "So much for being sneaky! Sorry dude! Didn't mean to land on you!" She laughed. I relaxed my shoulders and watched her smile glowing, but after remembering what Shauna told me before. Was it real..?
"I told you crawling up the glaciers was a bad idea!" The boy said "It's slippery up there!" She laughed again and stood up, almost tripping. The boy sighed and looked at me watching them. I moved to the back corner before Serena could see me
"Hm? What are you looking at?" Serena asked. I held my heart, not knowing if I can handle facing her again. I don't know what Shauna told her, but I didn't feel right facing her now
"Nothing" the boy said. I sighed in relief "This guy here passed out because you landed on him" Serena nervously laughed. I peeked the corner to watch her nervously smiling at her mistake "If he's here, I'm sure there's some grunts up ahead" Serena stood up
"Right!" She nodded
"Hey, Serena?" He spoke, getting her attention "I know this is out of the blue, but who was that guy that ran into you in Laverre City?" The city that the Pokéball factory was located. My face went hot when this was mentioned, and I'm sure he was doing this on purpose since he saw me
"Hm? Why are you asking me that now?" Serena held her chin "A bit odd to ask before we're about to attack Team Flare, but I guess I'll say. It's not really a secret" she giggled and winked "he's just a cute guy that I've been trying to get to know for the pass few months" I blushed more as the boy sweat dropped
"Because he's cute? He's the enemy, remember? They don't care about anyone but themselves" she nodded, still holding her smile
"Yeah, but I don't know. There's something about him that I like. I first met him in glittering cave, and back then I didn't know who Team Flare was, but he was really attractive" I scooted down to sit against the wall as she continued talking "Something in me just wanted to say hi. I didn't know who he was until I saw his Fennekin. The story Shauna told me? I had figured it was him, but I wasn't really thinking that at the time. He just gave out this vibration that I really liked" the boy hummed
"Because of his vibration? How do you even read a vibration? Isn't it bad if he's a criminal"
"Oh no, that's where you're wrong. You see, I have Kirlia, which you know is difficult for a regular trainer to control a psychic type. My body can feel vibrations and knows exactly what to avoid. The stronger the vibrations, the more I'm attracted to it. Of course, depending on it" I looked at my hand. My vibration?
"Really? What's so special about his vibe then?" Serena giggled at the question
"For one, he's lost in this world and holds a deep sorrow in his energy" I looked at her holding her chest and closing her eye "He has so much potential in his body that he doesn't realize. Someday, I'd like to see the true energy he's hiding from me"
"From you?" The boy blinked confused. I was confused myself. Serena leaned on her knees to reach his height.
"That's right. He may not remember me, but I recognize his vibe anywhere. I never forgot it" she softened her expression "to me, he's the most important person... I want to be as close to him as possible, but I don't know if I'm strong enough to take him with me and hold him like I want to" the boy frowned at her looking down at herself "Some people don't know what's good for them. It's difficult to choose the right path when your mind is corrupted. I may not know what he's been through, but maybe when all this is over, I can see his face... um..." she leaned away
"What?" She stood there for a moment before flashing her bright smile again and poked her cheeks
"See his face smile! I want everyone to be happy!" She pumped her fist, determined. It's like a moment ago never happened "let's go now! Hey! Team Flare!" She shouted into the path where the scientist, Mabel, was with the grunts "Get away from the Abomasnow! Battle me!" She ran in. I came out and watched her talking to the scientist and the grunts with her while the boy stayed behind to face me
"Serena is a bit weird... I didn't know she was that kind of person" he told me
"What do you mean?"
"People who are able to train and control psychic type Pokémon are highly sensitive to the environment around them, from what I heard. I knew she had a Ralts, or Kirlia now, but I didn't really think much of it since it's a Pokémon she had since she moved from Hoenn. She just admit that she is sensitive to vibes and is attracted to yours" we looked over at her battling the scientist and grunts by herself "Your vibe didn't give off that you were bad, so she didn't avoid you" he crossed his arms "Do you two know each other?"
"No, I don't think so..." I said, confused on why she mentioned me not remembering her and recognized my vibe "She just would never leave me alone since I met her... she's strange" The boy chuckled
"I'm Trevor, by the way" I looked at him "Whenever you feel like coming to our side, we'll welcome you with open arms. I'm sure it'll make Serena and Shauna really happy" I sighed "now if you'll excuse me, I better help out Serena" he ran off to help her. I sighed and looked down at the grunt still passed out on the floor
"Hey" I softly kicked him to wake him up "Wake up. It's time for us to go" when he wasn't waking up, I took out a cold water bottle from a small box that we had for emergencies and poured it on him. He immediately got up and started shivering from the temperature
"H-Hey..!" His lips were turning blue
"Time to leave. We got company I couldn't beat" he looked over at Serena battling, having the time of her life without any hesitation or anything. I watched her having fun, even if it was against individuals who want to cause harm.
I don't like the idea of a Pokémon getting pressured in our plans, but there was nothing more I could do. I had to put up with it. If I dare to say a word, I'll get punished "Oh dang... yeah, let's leave"
"Report to the admin Rin about leaving. My holocauster is frozen to make the report. I'm going to stay behind and see if I can help" I lied. He nodded and ran off with a shiver. I looked back at the battle and saw that it was over already.
"Alright! That's what I'm talking about!" Serena laughed. I sighed, admiring her cheer "now leave that poor Pokémon alone!" She pointed.
"Girls, file the report of our lost! Team Flare! Disband" Mabel yelled at the grunts. They nodded and ran pass Serena and Trevor
"Hey! Get back here!" Trevor chased after them
"Trevor!" Serena called and looked back at Mabel. I slowly made my way towards them, quiet so Serena doesn't hear me.
"I've no patience for losing..." Mabel groaned at her defeat and later spotted me coming towards Serena "pesky little one, aren't you. Take her, grunt"
"Huh?" Serena asked, confused and looked behind her, but wasn't quick enough, so I grabbed her waist and cover her mouth with my hand "hm!?" She struggled a bit and tried looking at me, but I held onto her cold body tightly and close "Hmhm!" She yelled, probably my name
"Good work, grunt" Mabel sighed and held her hip "this girl has been ruining a lot of our plans. I'm without Pokémon now, so I can't take care of this Abomasnow. I'll have to retreat for now. Keep her here until we make our full escape. You'll be rewarded" I just nodded and watched her running off. Serena and I stayed in place for a long moment before I let go of her. She didn't move when I did. She was staring at the floor
"You knew it was me?" I asked. She looked back at me with a frown and nodded "sorry, but I had to do it" she looked down and walked away, not looking back at me. What did I do..? Did I make her mad..? Why did it bother me that she just walked away like that when I... wanted to keep holding her and talk to her?
"I felt your vibration earlier..." she said, catching me off guard. She didn't face me, but continued talking "I was occupied... but I felt you last minute. You heard what I told Trevor about you?" I gulped and agreed
"Yes" I could see her ears reddening "You were attracted to my vibe, which means you liked the aura I was producing, even if I'm part of an organization that wishes death upon others" she hugged herself and looked down
"I don't know about that... I loved the potential in your body... I could see it from a mile away. Aside from it, there was an vibe that was very sad... like the person holding it blames himself for it being that way" I frowned, looking at my hand. She's reading me like a book without even me explaining who I was... she wanted to get to know me, but she knew through the energy I was giving off
"I should sue you for stealing my information" I joked. She looked back at me rubbing the back of my head "I'm sorry I'm doing this to you unintentionally... I have something you like, but it's not the kind of energy you deserve in your life. My parents were killed by robbers who wanted to take everything my parents worked for... for years, my parents feared these criminals always trying to steal their money when my dad accidentally let out some information to a friend that betrayed him and used that information to steal from us. They got what they wanted, but my parents were home and lost their life. I wanted to avenge them after what happened. I want to erase all the bad people in this world so we have a chance to start over... without hardship" I bit my lips, trying to hold back my tears "I just hate those who wronged us... I lived in the streets for months, alone... refusing to take help from my friends, so I ran away when Lysandre offered me a job... in exchange, I'd give away the only savings I had left. I'm slowly trying to recover what I paid to be part of Team Flare, but it's getting harder the more I see you"
"It is..?" I nodded
"I don't know what it is, but you always being around was weird... not necessarily in a bad way. I couldn't put my mind to it. The more I thought about why I couldn't stop thinking about you, the more I realize that I don't want to live in this world without you" I looked at her eyes shining with tears wanting to escape "Please... Serena" I went to take her hands. She looked away, hesitant "Please join Team Flare..."
"Calem... you think what those people are doing is right?" She looked away from me "Those people are hurting others... stealing... using force... do you not see the bad in those actions?"
"They're only temporary!" She shook her head
"You think after this mission is successful, you think those people will start being nice? Hatred and anger is in our nature... you, even if it wasn't your fault, you wish death upon others. No matter what, things will lead to another, and it will lead a good person to go bad" I slowly dropped her hands, widening my eyes. It was hard comprehending what she said. In a way... it made sense... but... how can I just abandon my beliefs..? Am I really... wrong?
"Calem..." she held my chest and looked up at me looking back at her, seeing her cheeks redden and lips turning blue from the cold. Her hands were freezing... I didn't feel any heat when I held her before "Instead of asking me to join Team Flare... Join me!" She begged "Because I know I'm strong enough with my friends to take them down!" She held her chest "I will not let this world become ugly through the eyes of those who think the innocent deserves to die! Team Flare don't care about anyone, but you care enough to ask me to join..." she bit her lips, coming closer to me "I'm not changing my mind... but I want to change yours! I want your vibes to become bright and happy again, knowing there's a bright future in a world that's forgiving enough to understand how you feel! Don't push me away! Don't push Shauna or your other friends away! I'm right here!" I grabbed her arms a bit too hard, making her wince at how tightly I held them.
"Are you saying you understand me... then?" I looked down, shaking hard... finally feeling the cold that I felt when I was alone in the streets "You're saying you want me to forgive those people who killed my parents..?"
"No! But justice will be served! You ran away before you knew what happened! Shauna told me you didn't even call the police when you found them dead! You went to her house and told her to call the police after explaining what happened... and you left! Calem- ah!" I squeezed her arms harder, making her cry in pain. I... I dont know how to control my anger
"Serena..." I slowly ended up crying "Serena..." I groaned and pushed her towards the wall and slapped the wall behind her. Her eyes widened at the sound and at me. I...
