Chapter 11
A/N: Hey I added a poll for this story. It's posted on my profile. Be sure to check it out.
Rory POV
Spending the weekend in Hartford had been worse than I had thought it would be. Colin and I had taken Finn with us, just like I'd told Mom. We ended up staying at the Crap Shack, (Colin and I in my room and Finn on the couch). Finn kept trying to hit on mom (which was nothing new). I'd reintroduced Colin and Finn to Luke as well as other townsfolk. The shocker had been when Jess showed up. Colin, Finn, Mom and I were sitting in the diner eating when Jess came down from the diner apartment.
***Flashback***
Colin, Finn and I were having lunch with Mom when I looked up from my coffee cup and saw Jess coming down from the diner apartment. He slowly walked over to us. "Rory." He said.
"Jess." I said. "This is Colin and Finn. Guys, this is Jess. Luke's nephew." Jess looked hurt that I'd only introduced him as Luke's nephew.
"Can we talk?" Jess asked, not acknowledging the guys. I nodded. I stood up and followed Jess outside.
"What?" I asked him when we got outside.
"That's how it is? I'm just Luke's nephew." He asked me.
"What do you want me to say, Jess? I haven't seen you in years. Were you expecting a hug?" I asked crossing my arms over my chest.
He shrugged. "I don't know. Not the cold shoulder." He said. "So which one is it?"
I raised an eyebrow confused. "What?" I asked.
"Which one are you dating? I mean, that's why there here with you right? Your introducing the new boyfriend to your family." Jess said.
I rolled my eyes. "Not that it's any of your business but yes I am dating one of them and the other is a really good friend. Was that all you wanted to know?" I asked him.
"Yeah I guess." He said before he walked off.
The only thing I could do was stand there and roll my eyes.
***End Flashback***
Saturday night, Mom, Colin and I got roped into having dinner with the Gilmores. Finn was hanging out with Luke while we were at dinner, then we were going to have a movie night when we got back. So here we were standing outside Grandma and Grandpa's. "Is anyone gonna ring the bell?" Col asked.
Mom reaches over and rings the doorbell. It wasn't long before the maid opened the door and told us that my grandparents were waiting for us in the living room. "Hi Grandma, hi Grandpa." I said as we walked in.
"Rory! Good you're here." Grandma said as Colin and I sat on the couch. Mom decided to sit across from us on the loveseat. "Drinks?"
"Martini." Mom and I said at the same time.
"I'll have a Scotch." Colin said.
Grandma nodded as she walked over to the drink cart to begin fixing drinks. As she got them fixed she brought them over to us. "I heard about your father, I'm sorry Colin." Grandpa said.
"Thank you, Mr. Gilmore. He was very fond of you." Colin said.
"Please, call me Richard." Grandpa said and Colin nodded. "How's work Rory?"
"It's good. Busy but good. We're in the middle of negotiating terms of a merger with Colin's firm." I told him.
"A merger? Why?" Grandpa asked.
I looked at Colin and he nodded. "Andrew was very adamant about Colin taking over the firm. When I became CEO, I approached Andrew about a merger because it was something that Colin didn't want. He doesn't want to be CEO. Andrew declined. When Andrew passed, Colin and I were having dinner one night, and he told me that didn't want to be CEO and asked if I would consider a merger. I told him that I would. The only thing holding it up is Grandma Francine. She keeps trying to stop it." I told everyone.
Grandpa nodded. "And your father?" Grandpa asked.
I sighed. "Let's just say that Dad and I aren't exactly seeing eye to eye right now." I said. Colin grabbed my hand and gently squeezed it for support.
"How come?" Grandma asked.
"Mom, I don't think that we should pry." Mom added.
"No, it's okay." I said. I told Grandma and Grandpa everything that had been going on. Needless to say they were shocked.
"So, this is serious?" Grandma asked, gesturing to Colin and I.
I nodded. "It is." I said, smiling at Colin. "Hence the merger."
I looked back at Grandma and she smiled.
When Colin and I got back to my condo that night, I headed straight for my bedroom. I started taking my jewelry off and putting it back in my jewelry box. In the mirror, I could see Colin sit on the edge of my bed. "You okay?" I asked him.
He nodded. "Yeah, I've just been thinking." He said.
"About what?" I asked.
"Everything really. I mean, I had to watch you with Logan for three years. Then we had the no strings thing for a while, while we danced around our feelings for each other. Then there was Charlie. Then finally, I almost had to watch you build a life with Tristan. Then when I almost gave up hope, your finally mine." Colin said. I walked over to him and sat on his lap, wrapping my arms around his neck and his around my waist. "I just don't want to lose you." He said.
I leaned my head down and kissed him. "Col, you're not gonna lose me. You have meā¦heart, body and soul. You are my future." I told him, hoping that it would reassure him.
He pulled me closer and kissed me. When he pulled back, he cupped the side of my face. "I love you so much Rory." He said.
"I love you too, Col." I said.
