Individually, Jason requests the following guards and Brick to his office to disclose the DNA results from the answer key. He had Spinelli cross-reference the results to compare data from the hack Spinelli did through the PCPD. The PCPD served Sonny's associates with a warrant for all firearms in their possessions. Jason reluctantly agreed to assist Mac Scorpio.

Jason wishes that Johnny could legally own and carry a gun, but with his record, he doesn't want to return to prison. Jason never found out what Carly wanted Max for, but he knew Max was not Sonny's killer. Jason knew there could be trouble and asked Max and Milo to be on guard for his meetings and search each person. Any weapons would be kept outside before they could enter Jason's office. Max would record the serial numbers and check the caliber of the guns. Jason asked Johnny to sit in on the discussions. Spinelli would be in the back office recording everything.

Milo announces Brick to Jason. Brick is incensed. He says, "I don't appreciate being frisked and relieved of my weapon. Why am I here, Morgan?"

Jason replies, "The PCPD can't verify your alibi since they can't prove you were at home before my guard picked you up 'after' Sonny was killed. More importantly, you have reasons to want him dead."

Brick backtracks and replies, "I don't know what you are talking about. I am loyal. I didn't want Sonny dead."

Jason says, "I know who you are related to and looked into your family history. Do you want to explain, or should I tell you what I discovered?"

Brick thinks Jason is bluffing and says nothing.

Jason continues, "Okay, I'll explain. Bradley Ward was your father. Edward Quartermaine was your grandfather. Should I be calling you cousin?"

Brick balls his fists in his lap and remains silent.

Jason looks at Johnny in the corner, then at the file, and continues, "Edward's dirty partner, Jack Borland, killed your father. Jack was working with Frank Smith. Jack also had your brother, Justus, beaten up. Smith killed Jack, so I'm trying to understand why Sonny. It's not a secret both Sonny and Luke Spencer worked with Smith. That is when I discovered who your mother was. Her name was Elizabeth Jackson, and she was also sleeping with Jack. You never knew your father and your mother was befriended by Vincent Marino, mob attorney for Joseph Scully, and Sonny killed the man who helped raise you. How long have you known about what Sonny did? How long have you been planning on taking Sonny out? Were you not counting on my return and hoping to take his place? Was I spared because I'm family or because I killed Manny Ruiz, the man who killed Justus?"

Brick swallows and replies, "I didn't kill Sonny, I swear. I knew what Sonny did to Uncle Vinny years ago, but I didn't know about the Quartermaines or Justus until some woman who sold the house I lived in found my mother's diaries when she was sleeping with Bradley. She mailed them to me about five years ago."

Jason says, "I only have your word. There was enough time to kill Sonny, return to the penthouse, and pretend to be asleep when my guard came to get you. None of your firearms matched the one that killed Sonny, but the one taken from you at the door is being checked as we speak. I also know that there were two people responsible for Sonny's murder. There was a getaway driver." Jason presses a button on his phone and asks, "Is this enough to hold him on suspicion? Okay, you can come in from the back door." Jason nods to Johnny, who opens the back door for Mac to enter and reads Brick his rights while being handcuffed.

Milo buzzes Jason and announces Dex Heller has been frisked and is ready to enter. Jason introduces Johnny to Dex and says, "Dex, I don't know much about you. You have worked for Sonny for about three years. I didn't hire you. According to your files, Sonny recruited you from a mercenary site, and Brick did a background check on you. I have been unable to find any military records on you or listings of a mercenary site. However, I found that you are related to a dead man who ended up in the Port Charles morgue in November 2008. Did you come looking for Sonny, or did Brick look for you? Either way, I think he falsified records and never told Sonny who you really were."

Dex says, "I have no clue what you are talking about. Why would you think I was related to someone from 2008?"

Jason replies, "I advise that you say nothing. I will speak, and then you will be arrested for suspicion of murder or aiding and abetting a murder. Both you and Brick are suspects in the murder of Sonny Corothinos. Sonny was believed to have killed both your and Brick's fathers."

Dex says, "My father is still alive."

Jason replies, "Then, the murder of your biological father. Sonny killed Andrei Karpov. The PCPD has impounded your car and will run sound checks against the noise from the getaway car after Sonny was shot." Jason buzzes Mac in and hands him the file he has on Dex. Mac hauls Dex out of the office.

Johnny asks Jason, "What about the other two? Do you think they had something to do with Sonny's murder? "

Jason replies, "I don't know. I know that this next person has South American ties. Lorenzo Alcazar was Venezulean."

Johnny says, "Wait, weren't you on trial for killing that guy?"

Jason blankly replies, "I was found not guilty. I don't know if Mark knew about Lorenzo. But if the background Spinelli did is accurate, Lorenzo is the father, and a former friend of Sonny's is his mother. It would make more sense to go after me and not Sonny. Lois Cerullo was a childhood friend of Sonnys, and she had an affair with Lorenzo. The only issue Lois might have with Sonny is the way Sonny treated Brenda Barrett during their brief marriage. Lois and Brenda were best friends. That's not a good reason for murder, but I did find something else Mark was hiding. Please stay in your seat. If Mark did what I think he did, he will leave town, and I won't call Mac."

Jason buzzed Mark in and asked questions. "Mark, do you know why you are here?" Mark shakes his head. "What do you know about your biological family? Records show you were adopted in late 2005. You were raised in South Carolina until your father died in 2019. You and your mother lived in Connecticut until she died in 2021. You have lived with relatives in Port Charles for three and a half years. PCU lists you as a part-time student. You have been working as a guard for Corthinos for three years. Brick hired you. Do you know about the Alcazar family?"

Mark shakes his head. Jason continues, "Mark, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt that you don't know about your biological parents, but you are fired. You are not fired because of your parents but because I have proof you have embezzled $60,000 from Pozzulos in the past year. You have 48 hours to replace that money and leave Port Charles forever, or be arrested and face up to three years in prison."

Mark tried to explain he was only testing the security of Sonny's checks and balances, and it got out of hand. I always planned on replacing the funds, but bills started piling up and…and.."

Jason cooly says, "I don't care the reason. You need more money, you ask; you don't steal. Make restitution and find somewhere else to live. I know you have the money. I'll take it back with interest if you don't return it. All documents will be sent to the authorities if you try to pull this stunt again."

Jason and Johnny watch as Milo follows Mark to his car and returns to the shop. Jason rubs the bridge of his nose, stretches, and asks, "Max, when is Frank due?"

Max replies, "He's parking his car now. I'll buzz him in."

Jason is tired and ready for the day to be over. "Frank, do you know why you are here?"

Frank replies, "No. Why was I frisked and my gun taken?"

Jason says, "After Sonny was murdered, I went through all the records of his staff. There were many inaccuracies. Sonny trusted Brick, but Brick was sloppy in his verifications. You lied on your application; either Brick knew or didn't care. Why didn't you disclose you are a convicted felon?"

Frank stammers, "I wanted to work for Sonny and prove my value. I hoped one day to be a guard for you."

Jason replies, "Being a prisoner at Pentonville would not have kept you from working for Sonny. I was housed there; Johnny, too. That would not matter, but you lied and are carrying around a firearm. You can't possess a gun with your record. Everything I have learned about you has been positive. If you still want a job, you have one. We can find something that you can do. If you choose to work elsewhere, you will receive stellar reviews, but you cannot own any weapons."

Frank thanks Jason and says, "I'm sorry I lied. I want to keep working for you."

Jason nods and replies, "Think about your qualifications. Take a few days off and make an appointment to see me."

Johnny waits until Frank exits. He says, "Is it over? Can I go home?"

Jason replies, "Yes. Call Kelly and have a drink on me. It's not over yet, though. It's up to the legal system; we both know how that could go. I'll see you tomorrow. I'm going home to my family."

Jason pulls into the driveway and parks his car behind Elizabeth's. His eyes look to Steve's apartment, and he chuckles. Jason locks the doors, checks on Jake and Aiden, and crawls into bed next to Elizabeth. She is reviewing schedules on the computer, and Jason laughs and asks, "How long has Diane been at Steves?"

Elizabeth laughs, "Since seven. She's slumming, but from the laughter I heard earlier, I don't think she minds. How did it go today?"

Jason updates his wife on his day that possibly Sonny's killer(s) is in jail awaiting formal charges. Elizabeth tells him about the brief news announcement from Mac about the arrests of two suspects in the murder of coffee importer Sonny Corothinos. She updates him on her day as Jason closes his wife's laptop, places it on the nightstand, and turns out the lights. He kisses her, "That's enough for tonight."

Elizabeth murmurs, "What's next?"

Jason replies, "Changes, lots of changes."

The alarm announces movement at their front door, waking them. Jason looks at the screen showing the outside front door porch. "Shit! It's Carly."

Carly knocks on the door. She yells, "Jason, Elizabeth, let me in!"

Elizabeth says, "Jason, she will keep banging on the door until you let her in. The boys are probably awake now."

Jason groans and flips his legs over to the side of the bed. He steps into his jeans, pulls on a t-shirt, and jogs down the stairs. He yanks the door open. "Carly, what the hell! It's after midnight!"

Carly pushes her way into the house, "What are you going to do about Sonny's kill…" She stops as she notices Jake and Aiden watching her.

Elizabeth rushes down the stairs, tying her robe around her waist, "Boys, let's go back to bed. Jason needs to have a conversation with Carly. Goodnight, Carly." Elizabeth watches as Jason ushers Carly into his office.

Jason sighs, "Carly, I know you have been through the wringer the past three months, but it does not give you a pass to burst into my home at all hours. What couldn't wait until this morning?"

Carly paces and replies, "Why didn't you call me? Mac said he has suspects in custody. Why weren't you around to kill them?"

Jason says, "Carly, count to ten. I would be the first person the police would look at. I won't risk losing my family, not when I helped hand that pair over to Mac myself."

Carly gasps, "I knew that bitch would change you. I tried to make peace with her for you. You killed Alcazar for Sonny, for Skye because of Lorenzo's part in what happened with Alan. Sonny was more of a brother or a father than Alan. The least you could do is avenge Sonny for me."

Jason rubs his face, "Carly, go home. Be there for Avery and Donna. Don't ever call my wife names again. Don't ever come into our home again."

Carly storms off, yelling, "It's not over, Elizabeth. Jason is mine now that Sonny is dead. He needs a queen, not a prissy princess by his side."

Jason shuts the door as Elizabeth wraps her arms around him, "This prissy princess wants to take her husband back to bed."

October-December 2025

Mark replenished the embezzled money and left town.

Formal charges against Brick and Dex were announced, and thanks to the legwork of Jason, Spinelli, and Johnny, a court date of early next year was on the docket. Carly realized Jason was not going to acquiesce to her demands. She backs down when Jason chooses Elizabeth and his family over her.

Halloween and Thanksgiving come and go without incident. Cam arrived from his world tour in time to spend Christmas with the Morgan/Webber family. The Scorpio-Drake family celebrated the holiday in Port Charles. Emma and Cam reunited for the first time since he left to tour.

For those who question Jason owning and carrying a gun, Jason was acquitted of the murder of Lorenzo. I wasn't watching when Jason went to prison for Michael, but that didn't happen in this story.
