Somewhere in the Reserve Course building, underground.

Unknown Time

Riki's POV

W-Where a-am I? T-There's n-no way I should s-still be a-alive, a-after what I had experienced. When I had looked up, there were two girls, one with pink hair, and the other with black hair and freckles.

Junko Enoshima and Mukuro Ikusaba. I knew these two were up to no good!

"You really almost foiled my plans, you freaking slob!"

"..."

"Oh, so you aren't going to respond to me anymore? Finally realized how trash you are?"

"..."

"Well, that's perfectly fine. You are worthless anyways. And to think a reserve course student almost outsmarted me? HA! Nobody outsmarts the Ultimate Analyst!"

"...y-you really a-are i-insane in the h-head. You t-think I'm going t-to let you w-w-win?"

"I bet you would think you're still going to win, aren't you? I definitely admire your resilience and bravery. Maybe if things played out differently, you could have been the third of the Ultimate Despair alongside me and Mukuro! Unfortunately for you boy, you will never be anything special in your life, because your time of reign is over. You and your friends! Mukuro!"

"Yes, Junko?"

"Take him out!"

"Understood..."

Mukuro took me to a secluded room while Junko was laughing eviliy behind her. The door closed and now she had her gun pointed to my forehead, ready to shoot me at anytime she wants to.

"I do wish we met under different circumstances but you've constantly become a thorn in Junko's plan so I do what I have to do. Any last words?"

(Damn it! I know I should do something but... she stopped every avenue of my plan. She really is the Ultimate Analyst! I thought out everything in secret, yet she already knew a plan was about to happen before I even thought of one! Her twin sister Mukuro, the Ultimate Soldier, is too smart and strong for me to counter against her at all!)

"..."

(I wish things could have played out differently. M-maybe if I just minded my own business, this never would have happened... I should have just played my role as an average reserve course student, like Junko said. Everything I've fought for ended up being meaningless anyways. I just wanted to prove that I was more than just a reserve course student, someone to rely and depend on. I just... wanted to be loved, appreciated, and looked upon as reliable.)

"No last words?"

"..."

(It's all my fault. Hope's Peak Academy will be taken over by the Ultimate Despair soon...)

"...d-did I do s-something r-right?"

...

...

(As I expected, no response... she really doesn't have a heart at all...)

"R-Riki, p-please know that I will a-always love you no matter what. Even if she stole you f-from me."

Wait, what? She had feelings for m-

"Goodbye..."

*BANG*

(Before all of this happened, I was just an average boy at Hope's Peak Academy. How did it ever come to this?)

One year before...

Hope's Peak Academy

8:30 A.M.

Front of the School

Riki's POV

Hope's Peak Academy is a very big school with two main buildings of note, The Main Course building and the Reserve Course Building. This school is home of the infamous "Ultimates" around the academy. If you want to get enrolled in the Main Course, there are two things you have to be in order to be scouted.

1. You have to be a high school student.

2. You have to be the best at what you do.

Two very simple, but at the same time, complex rules. It's easy to just have something your good at, but "good" won't cut it. You have to be elite at the talent that you develop in. Hence, the meaning of being an Ultimate. They really don't have to show up for class as long as they are developing their talent. I admit, I'm a bit jealous of that. Something of note is that they also have a lottery for one lucky person, meaning they would also be a part of that same class. Honestly, I wouldn't want to be there just because of luck. It kinda invalidates the point of having a talent, doesn't it? Either way, they can join the class as the Ultimate Lucky Student. I just hope they don't get overwhelmed by that...

Unlike the Main Course, the Reserve Course is available to everyone... for a large fee. And this is where I'm going to be for this year. Yep, I'm an average Reserve Course Student. Luckily for me, my parents come from a rich standing since they are famous movie stars in Japan(although nobody needs to know that), but not everyone is so lucky with that. It is also very mandatory for us to attend the classes or we will get suspended or even worse, expelled. Since my parents paid a lot for me to come here, I'm going to make the most of it. It's all I can do after all...

(Well, here we are. Hope's Peak Academy... I knew it was huge, but I didn't think it was this big...)

Standing there in front of the school was a Reserve Course Student, a new one that transferred during the beginning of the year. He has long black hair with an ahoge, green eyes, and is wearing the Reserve Course uniform. He looks up at the Reserve Course building with an optimistic look on his face.

RIKI AIUCHI

Age: 16

Height: 5"9

Weight: 155

Likes: Voice impersonating

Dislikes: Drama movies

Birthday: December 25

(I guess being a honor student doesn't really mean much here, but it's still something I guess... So I will be attending the famous Hope's Peak Academy after all this time. Let's see what all the hype is about.)

I'm gonna finally step forward into the Reserve Course building and have a brand new start.

Growing up, I wasn't the most popular student, but I was at the very top of my class all the time. That's because my parents would put so much pressure on me to be the best that I ever could. Because of this, I didn't have any friends and it genuinely hurt simply because of the fact that I could never make any. When I confronted my parents about what I wanted to do, they ended up mentally abusing me to the point of where I would cry every day until I completed my assignments.

One day, when I turned 12 on Christmas, I didn't get any presents because my parents were too poor to provide me with anything. So I cried all during that day. A bit selfish of me, but I was 12. Anyone would have done the same, right? I was really just upset at myself, not my parents. One day, the landlord does a routine check on everyone's houses, and when he went to my house, he noticed that I was all alone. My parents left me after they ruled me "unable to help anyone." The landlord took me in and put me in an orphanage.

A year later, on December 24, 10 minutes before Christmas, two famous celebrities(Seiji and Ai Kei) that were married would come in to adopt a kid. That kid turned out to be Riki Aiuchi, me! They noticed his love and care for all of the kids and being mature, that they adopted me and helped me be more confident in myself. I would celebrate my birthday properly that day after so long that I didn't get any presents. I think that's what you call a "Christmas miracle." Now I have parents and a older and younger sister in my family.

One day, I always wish to see my biological parents someday though, so I can understand their side of the situation, even if it might bring pain and sorrow for years to come. That's just the kind of person I am, it's my greatest strength and weakness.

Hope's Peak Academy

Classroom 2-D

When I had stepped into the classroom a few minutes early, already, people noticed and started talking about me.

"Hey, who is that guy?"

"I don't know, but he looks really handsome!"

"Do you think he is the transfer student they were talking about?"

"It is rather unusual for us to have people transfer at this time of the year."

"Either way, this class just got a whole lot more interesting!"

"Do you think Natsumi will make a move on him?"

"Hmph, she better not! I'm gonna get him for myself!"

Of course, people were talking about me, but honestly, I didn't mind. I expected that because I was a new face at Hope's Peak Academy. In fact, I actually appreciate the fact that people actually noticed me.

Who is Natsumi though? She must be someone popular here. I guess I should keep on eye on her, whoever she is.

"All right, everybody settle down!" the teacher said.

Once the teacher said that, everyone sat down except me, since I didn't know where to sit.

"Oh, you must be the new transfer student. Well, why don't you tell us your name and one thing about yourself?"

(Well, this is definitely my favorite part of a new school. The introductions. Let's just keep it ambiguous.)

"Hello everyone. My name is Riki Aiuchi. My fun fact is my name means many meanings. Whatever meaning you think it is, that is up to you. That is all." (I feel pretty good about that.)

"Concise and to the point. I like you kid. You can call me Mr. Bushida. Let's see here... you can sit in the back next to Hajime."

He pointed to where the desk was. Sure enough, it was empty. Riki sat there as directed to.

"Alright class, let's get started on biology today. Turn to page 15."

As the lesson was going on, I couldn't help but notice that Hajime was always looking at the window most of the time instead of focusing on the lesson. Seems like he was looking at the Main Course building. He must have an attachment to that building.

(Seems he really likes that building. I won't pry if it is something personal.)

Although I am very curious, I do know my boundaries. Especially involving personal thoughts and topics.

...

...

...

After a while, the bell had finally rang. Geez, I thought this class would never end.

"Alright class, that's gonna do it for today. Go to lunch." said Mr. Bushida.

I was packing his bags to get ready for lunch, but Hajime was still looking at the window, even when class was over. I decided to head over and talk to him.

"Uh, hey there. I couldn't help but notice that you keep looking at the building over there. That's the Main Course Building right?"

"O-Oh yeah. I've always admired Hope's Peak Academy. To finally be here is something special, but I want a talent so I can finally assure myself and be special."

"Really? I've always thought this place was a bit overrated to be honest. I didn't see the hype. No offense to you though. Maybe my mind will change as I continue to go here."

"None taken, and I can definitely see why you would think that. I mean, you have to pay a large fee to join anyways." Yeah, that fee was NO joke. I'm just happy I have celebrities as parents, but I can't imagine the same for everyone else going here.

"I don't think we've had a proper introduction. My name is Hajime Hinata. It's nice to meet you." He puts his hand out.

"Likewise Hinata-san." I shook his hand.

"Need me to show you around?"

"Yep, man. Lead the way!"

I had went around the school with Hajime, showing me every location here and the noteworthy places to go. What I didn't know was that a blonde girl was secretly following us.

"Ha! This new kid is really in for a fucking treat! He won't know what hit him when he gets acclimated!" I thought I heard someone talking but when I looked back, I didn't see anyone.

"Hm? Did you hear something Riki?"

"No, I thought I did. Guess not. Well, let's just keep moving."

"Yep."

Hope's Peak Academy

11:30 A.M.

Cafeteria

When we made it to the cafeteria, it was already packed with many people in there. Luckily, we managed to find a seat for ourselves, although it was a bit crowded.

"Is it usually this crowded?"

"Yeah, but for some reason it is really packed today. Might be a special on some food today." answered Hajime.

"At least I brought some food today."

"Same here. Guess we think alike."

We both had laughed. We already became friends in less than two hours. Is that a record?

"Hey Hajime!"

I had heard a voice that called out Hajime's name. It was a girl. I turned around to see who it was.

"Oh, hey Sato. Having lunch with Mahiru again?" asked Hajime.

"Yeah, would you like to join us?"

"Sure. Oh, let me introduce you to someone. This is-"

"Riki Aiuchi? Yeah I know him."

"You do?" I couldn't help but be surprised.

"Yeah, you made quite a name for yourself and you didn't even talk yet. You look handsome." complemented Sato.

"A-ah... thank you." I was slightly blushing. Just for disclaimers, it is very easy for me to get flustered and start blushing. I'm just an innocent guy that sometimes thinks too much into things.

"Hehe... I was just teasing you a bit. Although, your really blushing a lot! Anyways, I'm Sato. It's nice to meet you."

"Oh, would you like to join us, Aiuchi-san?" asked Sato.

"Sure. Thanks for the offer."

Sato, Hajime, and I all went out with their food to the courtyard.

There, a girl with a camera waited for us. She seems surprised by me approaching her. Guess she must be an Ultimate.

"Hey Sato. Hey Hajime. Who is this?" asked the girl.

"Hey, my name is Riki Aiuchi. Nice to meet you."

"Finally, a boy with some respect around here. You don't find that often here. Most guys here just try to take advantage of us." Umm... sexist much? I mean, she isn't exactly wrong, but at least she should know that not all guys can be like that. She must have some kind of history with boys or something. Note to self, don't mention boys around her.

"Um... h-huh?"

"Sorry, I'm just thinking to myself. I'm Mahiru Koizumi. I'm the Ultimate Photographer. I hope we can be good friends."

MAHIRU KOIZUMI

Talent: Ultimate Photographer

Age: 16

Dislikes: Bad manners

"Of course. And trust me, I know how it feels for people not to respect you." I said.

"Y-you d-do?" asked Mahiru, who was blushing slightly.

"Yeah, that's kind of the reason I came here. I wanted to find myself and give myself a chance."

Hajime was slightly shocked. He must have assumed that I'm very confident in myself but even I had doubted himself sometimes. Maybe Hajime and I were more alike than I would say.

"I-I see..."

"Mahiru, don't tell me you've already fallen for him!" teased Sato.

"N-no! Who would fall for him?"

"Uh... I'm right here you know." I decided to join Sato in teasing her by grinning slightly.

"N-No, I-I didn't mean it l-like t-that. I-I meant-"

This would go on for a bit, until Hajime managed to calm them down for a bit.

"It's fine Mahiru. They were just teasing you. Let's eat." said Hajime.

They would eat for a while and even talked about themselves and their problems. Riki zoned out again as he managed to piece together their stories and problems.

(So as it turns out, Hajime has a inferiority complex about himself. Mainly, the thought of feeling useless because he doesn't have a talent. Poor guy. If you ask me, I don't think talent is that big of an issue, but I can definitely understand feeling left out and feeling useless. It sounds like he's been holding that in for a while. I'll definitely talk to him about that later. So that must be why he is always looking at the Main Course building. I guess this building has more meaning than I expected.)

(Sato has a major problem with a girl named Natsumi Kuzuryu. I have heard of that name before during class. According to Hajime and Sato, she is also in the same class as us. She is the sister of the Ultimate Yakuza who is also in Mahiru's class. They have bad blood, like REALLY bad blood. They were arguing before I came in apparently. Seems like Sato is the kind that would always protect Mahiru no matter what. She definitely has a bad temper. Don't get on her bad side. Hell, her and Natsumi are probably people to completely avoid. But something tells me that I definitely won't be avoiding them forever.)

(Mahiru's dad is a terrible father figure. He treats her really bad and she has to do everything at the house since her mom is away. I can definitely understand that feeling. Because of that, she thinks most boys are bad, although she knows she needs to improve on that front. I think maybe I judged her too much. I understand why she feels the way she does about boys. I definitely hope she doesn't backfire on any guys though.)

(I ended up telling them about how my biological parents left me alone at home and I was taken in by my adoptive parents. Of course, I didn't tell them who they were; I wanted them to like me for me, not my celebrity parents. I told them how I felt and why I worked hard to get where I'm at and I know that I can do better as a person, which is why I chose to come here. I mean, if no one is going to do it for me, then I have no choice but to do it by myself.)

"Aiuchi-san..." Mahiru gasped.

"Whoa, I didn't think it was that bad." said Hajime.

"You are very brave and resilient..." said Sato.

"Well, I don't hold it against them. I'm just glad to be here." Riki said.

They ended up talking a bit more before lunch ended. However, I noticed someone spying on us. I don't know who it is, but they have blonde hair. Well, it shouldn't be a big deal, right?

Hope's Peak Academy

12:57 P.M.

Classroom 2-D

It was time for us all to head to class.

When we got there however, a blonde girl had been waiting. It seems I was correct. This must be the Natsumi Kuzuryu that they were talking about. She must have been spying on us earlier. I mean, on first sight, she looks really beautiful. I wouldn't mind talking to her every now and then, but looks and personality are two different things. And her personality is... crappy, and that's me putting it nicely.

"Hey skank. Seems like you came back with two other people. Must be nice to have people sucking up to you all the time! I bet you also do that in the bed don't ya?!" Natsumi was furious with her... for some reason. I guess what Sato said earlier must have been true.

"Natsumi, stop it..."

"No I won't Hajime. You know why? Because she had the nerve to insult me for no reason! Always hanging out with Mahiru, thinking she's better than everyone!" It was getting too rowdy so I had stepped in between them. As expected, people were looking at me crazy.

"Oooh, is the new kid gonna try to stop those two?"

"Heh, good luck. This guy will learn some lessons today about getting in cat fights."

"But he seems so genuine! I think he can stop it!"

"Natsumi must have managed to charm him. Damn it!"

"Either way, whatever happens here could determine what happens in the next few days."

I tried to reach her.

"Hey. Natsumi, right? Look, I don't know what happened, but you should just calm down for a bit."

Natsumi had said something after a little while.

"Aww, is the new kid stepping in? Already falling for me aren't ya? Well, your gonna have to wait in line! Get out of the fucking way!" She had pushed me out the way, signaling that she didn't really care what I did. I guess that must have pushed a serious nerve in Sato because she starting getting REALLY angry.

"You want to say that again, bitch?! First, you are pissing me off, then you push one of my friends?!" yelled Sato. Now she was furious and it was getting serious. "I dare you to fucking say it again. Say it!"

Everyone formed a circle around them as if a fight was about to start.

"I'll gladly say it again, slut! You think your better than everyone! Try me then!"

"That's it! I'll gladly take you up on that offer, bitch!"

Sato goes for the slap.

All of a sudden, time seems to slow down. This is clearly a situation Natsumi got herself into. NO one should get involved at all. Despite that, I wanted to get involved. I don't know why, but I just feel like this could be something huge if I let it play out like this. Me and Hajime both look at each other and wonder what to do. We know that we should get involved but maybe we should let it slide. I mean, no one really likes Natsumi; she causes nothing but trouble anyways. What is one slap going to do?

In the end, I still don't know I got involved. I should have just minded my business like past times. I knew it was going to happen...

...

...

And yet...

My stubborn self kicked in and I ended up protecting Natsumi even though she was clearly in the wrong...

This caused a major commotion in the classroom that wouldn't be gone for hours to come, all because of me. Whether this was a good thing or a bad thing, I guess we'll have to find out in the future and see what it holds.

Well, that's it for the intro chapter! This will be my very first fanfiction and its on a game I love: Danganronpa. I read so many and I finally decided to make one of my own using my own OC. Let me know if you liked it or not. Reviews will be very helpful as it can help me become a better writer and improve on what I need to work on in the future.

If you don't know, this is before all of the despair problems happening at Hope's Peak and seeing what would happen with a new OC. What shipping will be involved... Hmm... I'll leave that as a secret. It will be revealed as the story continues.

By the way if the text is like this, (Riki) or Riki, these are thoughts of characters. Don't worry, it won't be just Riki doing this.

Also, is anyone excited for Danganronpa coming out on the Switch? It's going to be very fun! Also, Monokuma for Smash confirmed?! Haha, like they would do that, but the world would explode if that happened. Can you imagine? ;-;

Anyways, like I said, all reviews are welcome here. I will read them all. Be on the lookout for the next chapter! :D

Here is the segway to the next chapter!

Oh no! It's only Riki's first day and he already gets into drama with two of the most troubled girls in the Reserve Course. Will his act of bravery prove meaningful? Or will it be worthless? What is Hajime's true goal in life? Will Mahiru stand for this aggression? And what will happen to Riki, Sato, and Natsumi after the altercation? Find out in the next chapter!
