Into my hands, chapter 1: The accident.

Carlisle sat in his living quarters by a fire, he seemed lost in thought when he received the news.

Just like most bad news it always comes when you least expect it, and in an evening where everything felt just ordinary, no one could guess the troubles that would fall onto the Cullen's house.

Edward, one of the youngest vampires of the family,

rushes into Carlisle's room.

He is visibly shaken, his hands are covered in blood, he can barely utter a word of the events that have taken place.

"What has happened!?" Carlisle asked as his face turned from lost in thought to a deep concern for what he was about to witness.

"I... I didn't mean to, it was an accident." Edward manage to utter out.

"What was?" Carlisle asked

"It's Bella...she's"

That was all Carlisle needed to hear; her name,

and he knew the inevitable had happened.

"Take me to her"

He ordered Edward.

In a large room at the East wing of the house, Bella laid on a long out stretched chair covered in blood, and gasping for air.

"This wasn't supposed to happen." Edward said as Carlisle rushed over to Bella trying to apply pressure to her neck.

"You're damn right,

this should not have happened!"

"How many times have I told you to control your urges?"

"You even trained for this"

Carlisle snapped at Edward glaring at him for his irresponsibility.

He could see that Bella had lost too much blood, even if he could heal the wound with his best abilities, she was already too far gone.

There were only two options left,

and he didn't like either one of them.

"I thought I could do it,

I really thought I could"

Edward said as his voice was breaking up with fear.

"And you've come to me,

only after you botched the situation!?"

Carlisle said now looking more visibly upset himself.

It wasn't like Carlisle had not made vampires before, or didn't have the power to do so.

It was because he knew that even with the turning, there was no guarantee that Bella would make it.

Some humans go insane, some simply don't make it through the process.

It doesn't just change your mind,

it changes your body,

and even your very existence stands on an entirely different plane.

All of this is assuming they agree to the decision in the first place.

He couldn't bear the thought of seeing Bella suffer as he knew she was about to.

He knew however that he would have to be strong...

strong enough for the both of them.

Vampires who are made were separated from the ones that were born of the blood.

This would not only cause Bella to be treated differently by the vampire hierarchy,

but she would face immense challenges ahead because of it.

Edward became a vampire at only 19 and he still has much to prove even with his rank.

Carlisle himself being born human had to work very hard to move up the ranks and prove himself, not many live to see that chance.

It took a lot of hard work,

and a lot of sacrifice.

The hierarchy was set and so were the ranks, any new vampires not born of the blood would have to be tested with an Agni Kai.

A duel of skill, power, will and fire, were only one can survive in the end and they then take the others rank.

"Is she...?"

Edward still barely able to form words.

"Leave us"

Carlisle yelled ordering Edward out of the room.

"Bella, look at me... I know you're in a lot of pain right now,

but I need you to listen to me carefully"

Carlisle said trying to reach the girl.

He did his best to slow the bleeding down and close the wound but the blood loss was significant,

it had saturated and covered the chair so deeply that it went from blue to red..

Blood was now elapsing onto the floor, there was little hope at this point.

With one hand at the wound, and the other upon her heart, he pressed upon his vampiric energy pushing it through himself to her,

trying desperately to grant her enough energy to make the decision.

Her eyes opened momentarily looking up at him meeting his eyes,

golden and somehow comforting like a warm spring day.

His presence was different from Edward's, he was confident, controlled, logical,

it was like he was always standing still, even when he was moving.

But there were layers to him and sometimes his eyes gave away his passion,

and his vampiric instincts.

Even in his stillness and meditation, there was a pain in his eyes,

like he knew there was a layer he could never escape, but was always fighting to keep it from rising to the surface.

Bella reachs a hand up to his face, feeling the softness of his skin like powder, such a face like porcelain, he was perfect.

Carlisle removing his hand from her heart met with her hand trying to remove it.

His face almost encapsulating fear something Bella had never seen on his face before,

he didn't want this moment to become... what it was to become,

he didn't want to do this again,

he had made enough vampires, but she had the freedom and the right,

he must ask her.

She placed her hand on his face again and this time he allowed her to touch him.

"You are dying Bella,

I need to know... if you want to die"

Carlisle paused he knew he had to give her a moment, he knew humans well enough to know that it wasn't always an easy thing to answer.

He also knew that she would have to be honest with herself, and it was never an easy thing to admit that sometimes some people are just ready to leave this world.

Tears formed in Bella's eyes not just from the pain, but she now had to face everything of her life,

everything she cared about and everything she hated,

even parts of herself,

she would have to face her truth.

she cried like a little child again, Carlisle lifts her up into his arms.

"It's ok, there are no wrong answers, I just need to know,

I can let you go if you want.

Bella, it's alright, there is nothing to be ashamed of,

but I need to know,

do you wish to die?"

Carlisle said softly to the young woman even though such words were breaking his heart, and the thought of letting go of someone he holds so dear, was almost too much for him to continue to process.

So he tried desperately to push his thoughts away,

and center himself so he could remain focused on Bella.

His face was now ever so closer to hers that he could feel the warm tears stream down the sides of her cheeks,

and he could smell the saltiness of those tears.

"No"

She mumbled although it wasn't loud enough.

Carlisle placed an ear to her lips,

"Say again... please"

"No"

Bella said louder this time.

Carlisle embraces her tighter, while taking a hand and pulling her head back so that it rests into his other arm,

as she looks towards the ceiling.

"I now therefore have permission to turn you"

"Yes"

Bella confirmed with the last bit of air that she could manage.

Not wanting to cause her more pain Carlisle bites her on the other side of her neck,

the warm blood encases his mouth as he feels it run through his veins quickly,

his heart speeds up as if he is running a marathon.

Bella feels the hot venom enter into her veins from the sharpness of his fangs, as she returns her eyes to his, her mind some how longing to touch him.

He didn't speak a word and yet she was confident she could hear his thoughts, she could feel his emotions, she could hear him pleading.

"Stay with me Bella...Just stay with me."
