Episode 1

(It's early in the morning, as a plane comes into land at Gatwick airport. Elsewhere, people are boarding a plane that's preparing for take-off. And inside the airport, people are hard at work, or waiting for flights to various destinations around the world. It all seems quite ordinary. What's not so ordinary, is the heavy wheezing of a strange alien engine, as a blue police box materialises on the runway. As the engine stops, Jamie, in his usual Scottish kilt, steps out of the Tardis, the Doctor right behind him. However, upon looking around, Jamie immediately stops, as the Doctor walks into him. While he's cross, the Doctor's attention is quickly diverted, as Jamie points up into the sky above.)

JAMIE: It's a flying beastie!

(An aeroplane – beastie – is coming in to land…right where the Tardis is.)

DOCTOR: Run!

(But the Doctor can barely be heard over the roar of the aeroplane engines. Nevertheless, he and Jamie take off running down the runway – just as the Princess, Ben and Polly exit the Tardis.)

PRINCESS: Did you say something–?

(While the Princess is looking at the backs of the Doctor and Jamie, Ben and Polly have looked up and spotted the aeroplane.)

POLLY: He said, 'Run!'

BEN: Come on, Princess!

(Ben and Polly pull the Princess along as they race after the Doctor and Jamie, and away from the approaching aeroplane. The Tardis door slams itself shut, as if bracing for impact. But seeing the obstacle, the aeroplane pilots wisely pull up, avoiding the Tardis and the time travellers, who are still running to get clear of the runway – least they be flattened by an aeroplane. However, no sooner are the time travellers clear of the runway, they're spotted by a patrolling policeman.)

POLICEMAN: Hey, you! Stop!

(The time travellers all stop…)

DOCTOR: Scatter!

(The Doctor, Jamie and Ben run off in different directions, while the Princess and Polly run off in another together. Unable to chase them all on his own, the policeman chooses to go after the closest culprit, Ben.)

POLLY: He's going after, Ben!

PRINCESS: He'll outrun him. But we've got to find a place to hide, before any of his friends show up. Come on!

(The Princess and Polly race across the open fields between the runways, heading for some nearby hangers.)

(A short while later, the Princess and Polly are huddled down alongside one of the hangers.)

POLLY: I can't see anyone.

PRINCESS: If only that meant no one could see us.

POLLY: Do you think the others will be all right?

PRINCESS: Of course they will, Michelle.

POLLY: Michelle?

PRINCESS: Michelle who?

POLLY: No, you called me, 'Michelle.'

PRINCESS: Really? Odd.

POLLY: Oh, this isn't another of your premonitions, is it?

PRINCESS: No. Probably just a slip of the tongue. Sorry, Polly.

POLLY: Oh, it's all right. Oh no, look!

(Polly points to truck going by, escorted by two motorcycles. And on the back of the truck, the Tardis.)

PRINCESS: Don't worry, she'll be all right.

POLLY: But how are we going to get out of here now?

PRINCESS: Well, we can't leave without the others, so shall we focus on finding them first?

POLLY: Shouldn't we follow the Tardis, see where it's being kept?

PRINCESS: That's a good idea. It's a good thing you stick around, Polly. I don't know what I'd do without you. Come on.

(The Princess and Polly abandon their cover to see if they can spot where the Tardis is being taken. However, no sooner are they out of cover, does Polly spot another patrolling policeman. She quickly grabs the Princess and pulls her back towards the hanger – in the process almost causing the Princess' top hat to come off. But this time, rather than go around the side of the hanger, Polly pulls open a door – a door marked, 'Chameleon Tours' – and pulls the Princess inside before shutting it.)

POLLY: We can wait here until–

(The Princess puts her finger to Polly's lips.)

PRINCESS: (Hissing) Shhh.

(Both go quiet, before hearing a door opening. The Princess and Polly quickly take cover behind some barrels. However, the Princess' top hat is poking up over the top – something which Polly spots and quickly rectifies by snatching it off the Princess' head.)

PRINCESS: Polly–!

POLLY: (Hissing) Shhh.

(From the corner office in the hanger, a man in a suit quickly walks out, carrying an envelope.)

SPENCER: (From the office) Just a minute. Give me that envelope.

(Another man, one wearing the uniform of a commercial aeroplane pilot – Spencer – exits the office after him.)

SPENCER: I would advise you to stop!

(The man in the suit stops, turning around to see Spencer pointing a gun at him. Spencer then fires the gun. But it doesn't fire a conventional bullet like ordinary guns. Instead, it makes a high-pitched noise, before the suited man screams and then collapses, dead. The Princess and Polly watch in horror. Then, putting the gun away in his jacket pocket, Spencer retrieves the envelope before covering the body with a blanket. Once that's done, he returns to the hanger office. Polly is horrified by what she's just seen, and so doesn't immediately react when the Princess sneaks over to the covered body.)

POLLY: (Hissing) Princess!

(The Princess doesn't respond, instead pulling back the blanket to look at the suited man.)

PRINCESS: But that's not…

(Hearing the office door open again, the Princess looks up to see Spencer coming out of the office quickly, gun at the ready.)

PRINCESS: Outside, Polly!

(The Princess runs back to where she was originally hiding with Spencer chasing after her. Polly is already at the door to the hanger, holding it open. The Princess pushes her outside and slams the door shut before Spencer can aim his gun. Outside, the Princess takes her top hat back from Polly and returns it to her head.)

PRINCESS: Run!

(The Princess and Polly take off running along the rows of hangers that lead to the main airport building. Spencer then exits the hanger, aiming his gun. But he hesitates to fire in a public space. He ultimately ends up putting the gun away before returning to the hanger, letting the Princess and Polly escape for now.)

(A short while later, the Princess and Polly are running amongst various parked small commercial planes.)

DOCTOR: (Calling) Princess! Polly!

(The Princess and Polly come to a stop.)

PRINCESS: Did you hear that?

POLLY: Yes.

DOCTOR: Over here!

(The Princess and Polly follow the voice, spotting the Doctor and Jamie hiding behind the landing gear of one of the parked aeroplanes. The Princess and Polly run over to join the Doctor and Jamie.)

POLLY: (Breathless) Doctor…we've…we've just seen a man killed!

JAMIE: By one of the beasties?

POLLY: No, no… He was murdered by another man!

DOCTOR: Princess?

PRINCESS: It's true. But the weapon he used, it wasn't right.

DOCTOR: What do you mean?

PRINCESS: Well, it was a gun, but…but it couldn't belong here.

DOCTOR: What makes you say that?

PRINCESS: Well, it didn't fire anything, and I thought that's what guns on this planet did. But the one this man used…it burnt the man he shot.

DOCTOR: Can you show me the body?

PRINCESS: Yes–

POLLY: But that man is looking for us!

DOCTOR: Did he see you both?

PRINCESS: Yes, as we were escaping.

JAMIE: Ah, never fear. We'll look after you both.

PRINCESS: Aw, thank you, Jamie.

POLLY: But what about Ben?

DOCTOR: We haven't seen him, what about you?

PRINCESS: Not since we split up.

DOCTOR: Well, I'm sure he'll turn up eventually. Come on, let's go find this hanger.

PRINCESS: It was back this way. It said…'Chameleon Tours,' on the side, if I remember correctly.

(The four time travellers abandon their hiding place and head back the way the Princess and Polly came from.)

(Returning to the Chameleon Tours hanger, the time travellers gather outside the door.)

PRINCESS: This is it.

DOCTOR: Right, Jamie and I will go first. Come on, Jamie.

(The Doctor opens the door and heads inside with Jamie. Once they've made sure its empty, the Doctor waves the Princess and Polly inside.)

DOCTOR: Where did you say the body was?

POLLY: By the office in the back. This way.

(Polly and the Princess lead the Doctor and Jamie over to the office, where the body is still laid out, covered by a blanket.)

POLLY: There he is. And the bloke came out of that office there.

DOCTOR: Let's make sure nobody's home before we start looking.

(The Doctor proceeds up to the office door. He opens it and looks inside, but its empty.)

DOCTOR: All clear. Now, let's see this body.

(The Doctor join the Princess, crouching down next to the body while Jamie comforts Polly. The Doctor pulls back the blanket for a look.)

PRINCESS: See, he's burnt along the back here. And his hands too. Even his face…

DOCTOR: You're right, Princess. But it…it couldn't have been a ray of heat, could it?

PRINCESS: No, he was shot while facing the man with the gun.

DOCTOR: And the effects are all over his body… That can mean only one thing.

PRINCESS: What?

DOCTOR: Electrocution. And you're right, Princess. No gun on this planet could do a thing like that.

(The Doctor covers the body back up before he and the Princess stand.)

DOCTOR: Well, there's only one thing for it. We must report all this to the authorities.

JAMIE: That man who chased us. We could find him maybe.

DOCTOR: What, the policeman? Oh, no, no, Jamie. We must find the man in charge in this place. (To Princess) And you and Polly can identify the killer to him.

PRINCESS: Of course.

POLLY: I doubt I'll ever forget that face.

JAMIE: Where will we find the man in charge?

DOCTOR: In the main airport building I imagine, come on.

(The time travellers then make their way out of the hanger.)

(A short while later, while walking along the row of hangers towards the main airport building, Jamie and the Doctor lead the way with the Princess and Polly at the rear.)

JAMIE: Are you sure this is the right way, Doctor?

DOCTOR: This seems to be leading to the main airport building, yes.

POLLY: Are you all right, Princess?

PRINCESS: Yes. I just hate goodbyes.

(Before Polly can respond, Spencer and another man – also dressed as a commercial airline pilot – grab them from within the hanger they're passing. The Princess and Polly go to shout, only for their captors to spry them using a pen-like device. The spray instantly knocks them both out, as Spencer and the other man – Blade – drag them away. Unbeknownst to the Doctor or Jamie.)

(When the Princess and Polly come to, they are sat in a room which contains several monitors and a lot of control panels and electrics – some of which look rather advanced. Before them stand Blade and Spencer.)

POLLY: Oh, what happened?

PRINCESS: We were knocked out and…

SPENCER: And captured.

PRINCESS: Yes, and captured, by these two.

POLLY: I feel stiff.

PRINCESS: And my mouth tastes funny.

BLADE: Temporary effects of the disablement, you'll be back to normal any second.

SPENCER: We have some questions for you. Which airline do you work for?

POLLY: Murderers.

SPENCER: Answer the question.

PRINCESS: We don't work for any airline.

BLADE: Impossible. You must belong to some airline or the airport authority to be in this part of the airport.

PRINCESS: And yet here we are.

POLLY: We've got nothing to do with the airport. We'd just arrived, we were lost. We were trying to find somewhere to hide and… (Nods to Spencer) we saw him kill a man.

SPENCER: You say you'd just arrived? How did you get here?

PRINCESS: Would you believe me if I said we materialised?

BLADE: (To Spencer) We'll gain nothing by questioning them. The important thing is that we've got them.

POLLY: You don't think our friends are just going to forget us like that, do you?

(An alarm buzzer goes off. Both Blade and Spencer look to one of the monitors, and the Princess and Polly do the same. As Blade turns off the alarm and turns on the monitor, it shows a live feed of the Chameleon Tours hanger, where the Doctor and Jamie have returned.)

JAMIE: (From speaker) I don't understand it, Doctor. The Princess and Polly are nowhere to be seen. Something must have happened to them.

DOCTOR: (From speaker) Well, there's nobody here. No evidence to suggest they came back this way.

(Polly suddenly makes a run for what she presumes to be a door – a large metal section on the wall. She tries to slide it or push it, but it doesn't budge. Spencer then grabs her and points the pen-like weapon at her again.)

PRINCESS: No, don't–!

(Blade points his own pen-like weapon at the Princess.)

BLADE: Quiet.

DOCTOR: (From speaker) I'm afraid we're wasting our time here, Jamie. The sooner we find the authorities and tell it all to them, the better. Come on.

JAMIE: (From speaker) All right.

(The Doctor and Jamie exit the hanger once more. Once they have, Blade turns off the monitor, as Spencer shoves Polly back into her seat.)

BLADE: Yes, you're right. Your friends are worried about you. Well then, we shall have to do something to stop them worrying.

PRINCESS: Like letting us go?

BLADE: (Smirking) In a manner of speaking.

(A while later, only the Princess remains in the secret room, with Blade watching her.)

PRINCESS: Where have you taken my friend?

BLADE: You'll find out soon enough.

(The Princess sighs, bored.)

PRINCESS: Is she all right?

BLADE: Yes. She'll be perfectly safe, I assure you.

PRINCESS: Well, that's kind of you. Not every kidnapper treats their prisoners so nicely.

BLADE: We are not ordinary kidnappers.

PRINCESS: Yes, I was beginning to think that… I've got an idea, let's play a game to pass the time. (Blade remains silent) If I can guess where we are, you'll let me and my friend go? (Blade still doesn't respond) I'll guess anyway. Well, considering you told us to be quiet before, when my other friends were in Chameleon Tours hanger, I'm guessing that's because they could hear us if we were loud enough. (Blade sits up but remains silent) Thought so. Which means we're inside the hanger, probably somewhere in that office. And I bet that metal door there leads into the office, am I right?

(Blade still doesn't answer, but looks annoyed. The Princess then suddenly gets up, approaching the metal door.)

PRINCESS: Let's see if I'm–

(Blade stands up, pointing his pen-like weapon at the Princess.)

BLADE: Don't touch that door.

PRINCESS: Why not? It's not like I can open it. The controls are over there–

(The Princess points to the controls, momentarily distracting Blade. As she does this, she then whacks the pen-like weapon from his hand. Before he can react, the Princess takes off her top hat and pulls it down over Blade's eyes. As he struggles to get it off, the Princess activates the door controls, and the metal door slides open to reveal the Chameleon Tours hanger office. As the Princess runs for the door, she snatches her top hat off Blade and puts it back on her own head as she spirits out… Only to run right into Spencer. He quickly grabs her, and while the Princess struggles, he pulls out his own pen-like weapon and sprays her once more. The Princess then stumbles back into Blade, before falling into his arms as she passes out again.)

BLADE: Well done. How's the other girl?

SPENCER: Already processed, as well as an air traffic controller.

BLADE: Good, he'll be useful. We'll use her next. Take her to the medical centre, then return to help me transport the other.

SPENCER: Understood.

(Blade hands the Princess over to Spencer, who then carriers her – as if helping her to walk – out of the office.)

(Later, the Princess is coming to once again. This time however, she's in the back room of the airport medical centre, laid out on one of the beds.)

SPENCER: She shouldn't be waking up. I gave her a full dose.

BLADE: Never mind, restrain her.

PRINCESS: Wha…? What's…?

(Blade and Spencer quickly use the leather straps on the bed to tie down the Princess' arms and legs.)

PRINCESS: Where…? Where's my hat? It's not on my head, where is it?

PINTO: We had to remove it for what comes next.

(The Princess looks over, as a woman in a white lab coat comes over – Nurse Pinto.)

PRINCESS: And what comes next?

PINTO: Why isn't she unconscious?

SPENCER: I don't know, I gave her a full dose.

PINTO: Then there's only two explanations. Either you got it wrong, or this woman here isn't human.

PRINCESS: Are any of you?

(All three stare back at the Princess.)

BLADE: We'll find out the truth once processing is complete.

(Blade then steps aside, revealing another body in the bed next to the Princess. The body is humanoid in nature but is most certainly not human. Its entire head is like green mould, with hardly any defining features, only partially covered holes that marked the eyes, nose, and mouth.)

PRINCESS: What's wrong with them?

PINTO: Very soon, nothing will be wrong with them.

(Pinto heads over to a nearby cupboard, taking out two matching devices – one black and one white. She hands Blade and Spencer one each. Spencer then attaches the black device to the arm of the alien, while Pinto puts a headband, with two antennae, on the alien's forehead. Meanwhile, Blade rolls up the Princess' sleeve and puts the white device on her arm. Once it's attached, Blade rolls the Princess' sleeve back down, concealing the device. After that, Pinto places an identical headband on the Princess' head as well. With everything set up, Pinto walks over to a control unit and then activates it. Immediately the Princess winces.)

PRINCESS: Oh… My head…

PINTO: Yes, I imagine it hurts. But the process won't take long.

PRINCESS: (Strained) You're…reaching into…my mind…

PINTO: That's right.

PRINCESS: But…why?

BLADE: Open your eyes and see for yourself.

(The Princess struggles, but manages to open her eyes. Only to then stare in shock, as the alien in the bed next to her begins to take on her likeness. From the green mould like head, skin begins to appear. Features begin to be defined – ones identical to that of the Princess. Then from the top of the head, long wild black hair begins to sprout and grow. Even the Princess' clothes begin to appear over the alien's body, matching her in every way. At first everything seems transparent, with the original alien underneath. But then as the seconds pass, the ghostly copy of the Princess begins to settle and solidify. Once it does, Pinto turns off the machine. Pinto then removes the headband from the second Princess, who's eyes begin to open. The same green-blue eyes of the original Princess. The Princess continues to stare in shock, as the second Princess sits up on the bed and turns towards her. She's a perfect copy, from the exact tangle in the hair, to the bowtie and even the scuff marks on her leather high heeled boots. The second Princess smiles, but it's the only thing that differs from the original. The second Princess' smile is cold.)

PRINCESS 2: Hello, I'm the Princess…
