It was still early in the morning as the bell for the end of the first period rang. Mina walked next to Danny as she smiled at the preparation everyone was helping get together for this week's Spirit Week. She was especially happy because Jazz would be giving a pep speech for it on Wednesday, which is two days from now.

"Are you excited for Spirit Week, Danny?" asked Mina, smiling at her boyfriend.

Danny raised a brow at her excitement, "Should I be? I mean, Spirit Week is just like any other school event."

Mina pouted, "Aw, come on. Don't be like that, Danny. Your sister will be the one to be giving the pep speech this year."

His eyes widen at this, "Seriously?!"

He then stopped and thought about it before waving it off, "Jazz was always the type to over-achieve anything. So I guess I shouldn't be surprised."

He chuckled when Mina playfully punched him, "Be nice."

Before Danny could playfully retort, their ghost sense went off. Looking at where their senses had gone, Mina frowned when she noticed the ghost in the room. A specific someone's room that she knew was supposed to be the new shrink for the students. Danny had noticed the ghost, too, and grabbed his girlfriend's hand, dragging her with him into the empty janitor closet.

Closing the door, Mina raised an eyebrow at him, "If anyone were to have seen us come in here, they would think we might be doing the dirty deed."

She giggled at the lovely shade of red on Danny's face. She always loved to tease him every chance she got. However, she knew that now wasn't the time. So, giving him a peck on the lips, Mina grinned cheekily at him, "Come on, we got a ghost to catch."

Danny nodded, shaking his head from whatever fantasy his thoughts had gone to, "Y-yeah. Let's go."

Going into their ghost form, they phased out of the janitor's closet and into the shrink's room.

Arriving there, Danny and the ghost started fighting each other. Mina, on the other hand, frowned at how weirdly cold the room was. She could understand if it was close to the middle of summer, but the weather was nowhere close.

Bringing her attention back to the fight, Mina gasped as the ghost flew straight toward her. With a counter reflex, she shot an ecto-blast at it, making the ghost slam into the bookshelf. Growling, the ghost got up and shot himself up to the top of the bookshelf it had slammed into and screeched at them before flying away.

Danny frowned, "Good one, Fenton. You let him get away, you idiot."

Floating beside Danny, Mina put a hand on his shoulder when she saw that he was still glaring at where the ghost had vanished.

"Don't worry, Danny. We'll get the ghost next time."

Changing back, Danny was about to reply when they heard the doorknob jiggle. Not wanting his girlfriend to get in trouble, he quickly ordered, "Quick! Hide!"

Understanding, Mina turned intangible when she saw Mr. Lancer and Jazz, who had come in to inspect the loud noises. Mina frowned in worry for the raven-haired boy as Mr. Lancer grabbed hold of his shoulder and sat him down on a chair that he sat right up.

Mr. Lancer looked sternly at Danny, "Your sister will be watching you while I go and get Ms. Spectra."

Wanting to be there by Danny's side, Mina quickly returned to the janitor's closet, turned back into her human form, and grabbed her and Danny's backpack before leaving the room. When she did, she saw Mr. Lancer returning to the room with the new shrink beside him.

Pretending to be looking for her boyfriend, Mina ran up to him, "Mr. Lancer, have you seen Danny?"

The older man looked at her and replied as he continued walking to the room, "Yes, and you will see him later. Now, please get to class, Miss Miller."

Clutching Danny's backpack close to her chest, Mina quietly replied, "O-oh, okay."

Before she left to do as she was told, Mina passed the new shrink, Penelope Spectra. Spectra has fair skin, green eyes hidden behind a pair of shades, and red hair pointed in a U-shape with orange highlights. Her make-up was purple lipstick and eyeshadow, with circular purple earrings to match. As for her outfit, she wears a business suit consisting of a red suit jacket over a white long-sleeved shirt with a black necktie, a red mini skirt, and red high heels to finish the look.

If Mina hadn't known any better, she would've thought that Spectra was your everyday woman who loved to keep up her appearance. But when she passed her with a glance, she saw the woman smirk down at her. Stopping in the middle of the hallway, Mina narrowed her eyes in suspicion as she watched the two adults walk into the room that still held the Fenton siblings.

It was the end of another class. Danny was walking with Mina and their friends as he glowered at the ground, "I can't believe I got stuck talking to the school's therapist."

Hearing him mention Spectra, Mina frowned. She wanted to tell them about her suspicions about the woman. However, she knew that she couldn't accuse without any proof.

"Come on, Danny. It won't be that bad," said Sam, seeing the boy's scowl deepen.

Danny scoffed, "Yeah, for you. You're not the one being punished for talking to the new shrink."

Tucker tried to reassure him, "Sam's right, Danny. You're just talking your problem away. What can happen with just talking?"

When they arrived in front of Spectra's room, they could hear the woman busy talking to another student. Sighing, Danny looked at the chair and, if possible, glowered even more when he saw a sign above it reading "Happy Chair!".

He turned to them, "I'll see you guys later."

Nodding, Sam and Tucker started leaving for their next class.

Before Mina followed them, she turned to Danny and hugged him tightly, who returned it just as tightly, burrowing his face in her neck.

"Be careful around Spectra, Danny. There's something about her that I don't trust," whispered Mina.

Danny furrowed his brows at her warning. Before he could ask her, Mina pulled away, gave him a quick kiss, and left after their friends. Danny watched her disappear down the hall, pondered what she had told him, and looked at the door he knew held Spectra.

The woman was very peppy when he met her, but she didn't seem dangerous to him. Deciding to heed Mina's warning anyway, Danny sat in the chair as he waited for his turn. Waiting to see if there is something wrong with the shrink when he talks to her. Though it would seem his wait didn't take long when the door opened, and out came Paulina, who looked quite glum.

"So, you're saying my popularity is, like, completely dependent on my beauty?" asked Paulina.

Spectra came out right after the girl as she replied, "I'm not saying it's fair, sweetie. But if you feel you need something like a lot of makeup, I say go for it. You're the only you, you've got."

When she turned to see who her next patient was, she grinned brightly, "Danny, come on in."

Going into her room first, Danny didn't notice the smirk Spectra held on her face as she followed him, closing the door behind her.

Another class was over, but this time, Danny had come back worse than before. Seeing his mood concerned Mina as she softly rubbed her thumb at the back of his hand as they walked with their friends again.

It would seem Tucker had noticed this as well and voiced all of their concern for the raven-haired boy, "Dude, you okay?"

Danny glumly replied, "I'm fine."

However, knowing he wasn't fine, Mina squeezed his hand in hers, making Danny look down at her. Looking into her worried emerald-green eyes that are on him, Danny sighed, "I can't believe my sister told the shrink that I'm a loser."

This caught both girl's surprise as they exchanged glances with each other. Not believing that Jazz would ever say that about Danny, Sam asked, "Are you sure Jazz said that? That doesn't sound like Jazz to me."

They all stopped when Jazz suddenly appeared in front of them, "Hey, you guys. What doesn't sound like Jazz to you?"

Instead of answering her, everyone looked at Danny, whose only answer was a glare.

Jazz frowned, "Still mad?"

Letting go of his girlfriend's hand, Danny pretended to think as he sarcastically said, "Wow, you are the smart one."

"Danny, I know you're angry, but I'm worried about you. Ever since the accident–" said Jazz, getting cut off when Danny didn't want to hear any more from her.

"Jazz, I know you think you're helping, and I'm sure when I'm older, I'll appreciate it. But right now, I don't."

Jazz huffed in frustration, "You have to talk to somebody, Danny. You barely have any friends."

That got her glares from the two while Mina frowned in disappointment at Jazz. Seeing her mistake, the older girl corrected herself, "Besides these two and Mina. And you have absolutely no extracurricular activities."

"Unless you count the ghosts," mumbled Tucker, still frowning at Jazz.

That earned him an elbow from Sam as she shushed him, "Shut it!"

"Well, maybe this is me now, huh? Not everyone's pumped up full of spirit all the time, you know," said Danny, crossing his arms.

Just then, both his and Mina's ghost sense goes off. Eyes widening at the worst time that a ghost could probably appear now. Both halfa's looked around to try and find the ghost. But it was useless since they had no idea where it was.

Danny then starts to shiver as his ghost sense is still going off. Concerned, Mina put a hand on his back as she slowly let out a stream of ecto-energy heat to warm him but not disturb his ghost sense. However, it was inevitable as Danny's ghost sense made him feel colder, overpowering the heat.

Seeing Danny's condition, Jazz touched his shoulder and asked, "Danny? You're shivering."

Danny runs away, needing to get out of there, shouting, "Leave me alone!"

Jazz gasped, "It's worse than I thought."

Deciding to intervene, Mina put a hand on Jazz's shoulder, gaining the older girl's attention, "Jazz–"

Mina was cut off when a random kid suddenly grabbed Jazz, pointing down the hall, "A freakishly large hornet!" He then screams, making the girls wince, and jumps into the open locker beside them. Slamming it shut on his leg.

"Ow, my leg!"

Looking down the hall, the boy had pointed at, both girl's eyes widen to see a giant hornet. Jazz screamed as it grabbed her and licked her face. Narrowing her eyes, Mina removed her backpack and put an ectoplasm barrier around it as she swung it at the ghost. The hornet ghost screeched at the hard hit as it slammed into the lockers.

Jazz quickly hid behind Mina as the girl kept an arm out to protect her, her still-glowing backpack in hand going unnoticed.

Getting up from the floor, the ghost shook its head and glared at the other halfa. It screeched and was about to attack her until Danny flew in his ghost form. Intangible, he kicked the ghost in the face, "Back off, ghost bug!"

The girls watch as they phase and disappear through the door next to them.

"Ghost bug?" asked Jazz, her eyes widening at what she had just seen. "Wait a minute, that was a ghost? That was two ghosts?"

Unbelievable. So, after all this time that she had thought her parents were just ghost-crazy parents, they were right all along. Ghosts were real!

Mind blown, Jazz turned to Mina, who had been slowly trying to escape as the ecto-barrier on her backpack was gone, and shook the raven-haired female's shoulder.

"Mina! Did you see that?! There were two ghosts!"

Getting dizzy from the shaking, Mina quickly replied, "U-uh-huh. Y-y-yeah."

Letting her go, Jazz grabbed the girl's hand and dragged the stumbling, dizzy girl after her as she looked out the window to see the ghosts. However, it would seem that the ghost bug was gone, and all that was left was the ghost boy.

Mina shook herself out from her dizziness and watched Danny fly away, to which no one knew that it was back into the school as he changed back. The female halfa looked to Jazz when she excitedly said, "A ghost? Wait'll I tell Danny!"

Bringing a finger up, Mina was about to say something to stop her but sighed and decided to let things play out. It's not like the older girl learned Danny's secret anyway. Smiling, Mina started to leave, "I'll see you later, Jazz. I have to go to my next class."

Jazz smiled and said, "Okay. See you, Mina! I still can't believe we both saw ghosts today."

Once Mina turned around the corner, her smile was turned upside down as she wondered how her boyfriend was doing. Before he flew away, she had seen the scratch mark on his wrist that she knew could only be from the ghost bug.

Rounding another corner, her green eyes brightened when she saw him just down the hall. Jogging to catch up to him, Mina jumped on his back as she wrapped her arms around his neck. Danny yelped at the sudden weight, but knowing who it was, he wrapped his hands around his girlfriend's legs.

He chuckles, "Eager to see me, are you?"

Mina smiled as she gave him a peck on the cheek, "Always am."

She got off his back and grabbed his right arm as she closely inspected the scratch. Seeing what she was doing, Danny sighed, "I'm fine, Mina. It's just a scratch." He then quietly mumbled, "A scratch that I could've easily avoided."

Though Mina heard it and touched his cheek, making the boy look at her, she quietly replied, "You are still learning, Danny. You're always learning new things about yourself and your powers. And every day you fight against ghosts, you get better and better."

She kissed his forehead and smiled, "Just because you didn't catch the ghost today doesn't mean you're getting worse. It just means that today was not your day. You will get that ghost another day."

Danny smiled and put his forehead against hers, the heaviness in his heart feeling a bit lighter, "Thanks, Mina."

"You're welcome," said Mina before moving and tugging him with her, "Now come on. Sam and Tucker are probably waiting for us after your fight with the ghost."

Without complaint, Danny let her pull him to their friends.

It was evening, and Jazz had just finished telling Danny what she and Mina had seen when he angrily ran away from them at school after dinner in the kitchen. Once done, she asked her little brother if he had also seen the ghost bug. But when Danny denied it, Jazz asked in disbelief, "What do you mean you didn't see a ghost?"

"It didn't look like a ghost to me. It just looked like a big bug. So I ran. Like a loser," said Danny, bitterly saying the word loser.

Mina inwardly sighed at Danny's bitterness at his sister as she rubbed her thumb over his hand. Danny had reciprocated by tightening his grip on hers.

Jazz sighs, "I was right. You're not going to listen to me, are you?"

"Nope," answered Danny.

Looking between the two, Mina slowly got out of her chair, "I see this is a family problem. I'll just…"

Her boyfriend pulled the raven-haired girl back into her seat as Danny kept her hand in his, "You're family too, Mina. So, there's no need to leave."

Jazz agreed, "He's right, Mina. And since Danny won't listen to me and I have to guess you too… Well, he left me with no choice."

Alarmed, Danny sat up straight when Jazz raised her voice, "Mom! Dad! Can I talk to you about Danny?"

"What? Jazz, no!" shouted Danny, not wanting his parents to be involved.

Mina mumbled, "I should've gone while I had the chance."

Catching Danny's flat look at her, Mina innocently smiled at him. Their attention turned to Jack and Maddie when they zipped into the kitchen doorway, concern plastered as the former brandished a new tech they had made.

"Is there something wrong with Danny?" asked Maddie, worried that something had happened to him without her knowing.

"Is there a ghost involved?" asked Jack, looking around the room.

When there was nothing, they got close to their son as Maddie continued asking, "Is there something you want to talk about?"

"That involves ghosts?" asked Jack, hoping it was ghosts related.

Mina hummed, wondering what Danny would do now that his parents had cornered him. However, she hadn't expected him to throw them at his sister metaphorically.

"I…I… actually, yes. Jazz thinks she saw a ghost today," said Danny, smirking at his sister when he saw her eyes widen. "Tell them, Jazz."

Trapped at what he told their parents, Jazz backed away when Maddie started grilling her for answers, "WHAT? Why didn't you tell us?"

"It would have been a good chance to try out the portable Fenton Ghost Peeler," said Jack, showing them their new tech, which looked like another hand-held weapon. "It tears ghosts apart atom by atom!"

Holding the Ghost Peeler up in front of him, everyone watched as Jack pressed a red button on it, and all of a sudden, a full suit of metal armor encased him with a clear faceplate. The suit was heavy because not even a second had passed, and he fell over, smashing the kitchen table into splinters.

Holding his girlfriend in his lap when his dad fell on the table, Danny stood them up and cheerfully started to walk out of the kitchen, "Well, enjoy your chat!"

Going to Danny's room. Mina sat beside the mentally exhausted boy when Danny flopped himself face-first onto his bed. She ran a hand in his hair, "Are you sure that was wise of you to do that?"

Groaning, Danny turned to his side as he wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her closer, "Jazz called me a loser. If anything, she deserved it."

Mina sighed, not wanting to start an argument with him, and decided to change the subject, "So, how did your therapy with Spectra go today?"

Thinking about the shrink made Danny frown, "I don't know. Okay, I guess? Even though her room was practically ice cold when I was there."

Mina raised an eyebrow at his words, "Her room was cold?"

"Yeah. Don't even know why though since it's not even summer yet, nor was it hot today," grunted Danny, burying his face in her side as he was slowly starting to fall asleep from Mina's fingers that were still combing his hair and slightly massaging his scalp.

Mina hummed, thinking about her encounter with the woman she had watched from afar. Every time she passed Spectra's room, the students who walked out of their session with her seemed miserable instead of happy or at least feeling slightly better.

Wanting to know what they talked about, Mina was about to ask Danny until she saw that he had fallen asleep. She softly smiled at him and decided to ask him another time.

It was another day at school, and Mina noticed that Danny seemed more miserable than he was yesterday. And the more miserable he becomes, the more Mina starts to feel heavy-hearted at not being able to cheer him up.

She was about to say goodbye to Jake when the fire alarm went off. She and everyone in the hallway quickly filed out of the school as the sprinklers went off, soaking everyone.

Jake, deciding to walk with Mina, had stuck close to her as they maneuvered around the students before they finally made it outside. In front of the school were her friends and the Fenton siblings in one group away from the rest of the schoolmates and firefighters who had arrived. Walking up to them, Mina stood next to Jazz while Jake stood next to Sam, making the goth girl smile shyly at him, the boy returning it with a small smile of his own.

Since the flue season that Jake had gone to see Sam, the two had traded contact numbers and kept in touch. They were still shy in each other's presence but slowly gaining confidence talking to each other.

Mina asked the older girl, "What happened?"

Jazz answered, frowning, "Danny happened."

Understanding, Mina watched as Mr. Lancer gave Danny a month's detention. Shock at the punishment, Danny exclaimed, "A month's detention?! But I didn't do anything!"

Spectra, seeming to have heard what was going on, had zipped and appeared out of nowhere as she tried to coax Lancer to give Danny's punishment to her, "Hey, Mr. Lancer! It was an accident. But we're going to take that accident and make it an accid-don't, and learn from it so it never happens again!"

Danny tried to protest, "But–"

He couldn't voice his argument when Mr. Lancer interrupted, "No buts. You could learn a little bit about school spirit from Ms. Spectra here. When I was in school, I got the same advice. And look how I turned out!"

Danny and Spectra exchanged an awkward look when they saw the older man enthusiastically posed.

When the firefighters left the school and all the water mopped up, Mina was about to return to the school building for her next class until Jazz stopped her.

"Hey, Mina, can I ask you a quick question?"

Wondering what she wanted to ask, Mina shrugged, "Sure, what is it?"

"Have you noticed Danny acting weird? I asked your friends this, but Sam told me not to worry about him," said Jazz.

Mina hummed, "Sam's right, Jazz. Danny's fine. If anything, you should keep an eye on the shrink instead."

Jazz raised a brow, "Spectra? Why? I mean, she's a shrink. A therapist. She's helping Danny."

Looking at Spectra, who was talking to Mr. Lancer, Mina pursed her lips, "Are you sure about that?"

With that, she returned inside while Jazz frowned, looking at Spectra, who had noticed her stare and waved happily at her.

It wasn't long for another class session to be over. Mina walked out of the classroom with Sam and Tucker until they started hearing laughter down the hall. Wondering what was so funny, the three friends went to go and check it out. However, what they saw was not what they had expected.

Standing in the middle of the hallway stood Danny dressed in knee-high socks, a diaper, a sash labeled "SPIRIT" over his t-shirt, and a giant black top hat. Hearing Tucker laugh and take pictures of Danny, Sam frowns and puts a hand over the camera, "Stop it, Tucker!"

While those two bickered, Mina saw Jazz come up and stand beside her, a frown marring the older girl's face as she watched her little brother get laughed at. Mina narrowed her eyes at the smirking Spectra, "You still think she's helping him?"

Jazz opened her mouth to reply, but nothing came as she started to think about the school's shrink.

Walking up to her boyfriend, Mina glared at every laughing student and grabbed his hand, "Come on, Danny. Let's get out of here so you can change."

Danny followed, glad to have Mina save him from the embarrassment as she took him to the boy's locker room. Before they left, though, the raven-haired girl gave one last harsh glare at Spectra, her eyes flashing a glowing red instead of her usual ghostly blue. This made the older woman smirk.

After school, the halfa's and their friends went to Elmer's Pharmacy for ice cream. They had hoped getting the sweet treat would help bring Danny's spirit back up. But the raven-haired boy didn't want any when they went to order. Instead, he followed and sat beside his girlfriend at a table.

Eating her ice cream, Mina worriedly looked at Danny as he glared at everything and nothing. She then looked behind her when she heard Valerie talk about what Spectra had said to her during their session, "I don't know. Ms. Spectra says I worry way too much about material possessions."

Kwan grabbed his ice cream and frowned, "At least you'll have them. Spectra says I'm going to grow old, broke, and alone."

Mina's eyes narrowed at the information before she turned her attention back to her friends when Tucker, who had also overheard what Valerie and Kwan said, brought up the topic that Danny wished to forget, "Man, it was brutal making you wear that stupid baby suit. I could hardly watch. Though I did get some good digital pics."

Smiling, Tucker pulled out his PDA and showed the boy the photo that he had taken. He had wanted to joke and make his best friend smile.

But it backfired when Danny glared, "Hey, whose side are you on, anyway?"

"Danny, come on, you know he's kidding," said Sam, trying to diffuse his anger quickly.

Danny sighs and drops his head into his arms on the table as he groans, "Ah– Yeah, I know." Sitting up again, he continues, "I don't get it. Why am I so depressed and angry all the time? That shrink was supposed to be helping me. Ever since I started talking to her, I've been feeling worse."

Hearing what he said about Spectra, Mina was about to tell them about her thoughts on the woman until Jazz walked up to their table and greeted her little brother, "Hey Danny, how's it going?"

"Like you care. Just go away, Jazz," he said crossly, frowning at his sister's persistent presence. Until both halfa's ghost senses went off.

"Oh, no."

Looking around the store, they tried to find where the ghost was until they looked over at Paulina at the counter, powdering her face.

"If my skin's perfect, I'll be perfect," said Paulina.

Looking at the clerk, she frowned, "Do you mind? You're like the second old woman to hover over me today, and I'm so not in the mood."

That's when they saw it. The same ghost that Danny had fought back in Spectra's office popped up out of the floor from behind Paulina and lurked over her shoulder. A menacing smile spread across his face.

"Gotta keep Jazz busy," Danny said to himself.

Looking over to his girlfriend, the raven-haired boy mentally apologizes, 'I'll make it up to her later.'

Getting up to his feet, Danny slammed his hand on the table near Mina, making not only her but their friends and Jazz jump at the sudden action, and glared down at her, "You know, if you're just going to take Jazz's side then why do you keep hanging around me? I'm sorry I'm such a loser."

Turning to his sister, Danny grabs Jazz by the shoulder and shoves her into his chair as he throws his arms melodramatically in the air, "Here, take my seat. Now, the both of you can be even more best buds and gossip about me behind my back as much as you want now."

He then races off through the back doors of the pharmacy, feeling guilty to be using Mina like that, knowing that he might or might not have caused Jazz to hate her. He mentally noted a reminder to himself to make it up to her. And if Mina still doesn't forgive him, he will do anything to gain her forgiveness. After all, it wasn't that long ago that Mina was angry at him because of his overprotectiveness.

Danny winced at the memory and hoped his girlfriend wouldn't be too mad as he tried to get rid of this ghost without her help.

~Meanwhile~

To say Mina was angry is an understatement. She was downright furious at Danny for using her as a scapegoat so he could transform. And what is she? Chop liver?

Breathing in slowly from her nose, she slowly let her anger simmer down when she exhaled through her mouth.

Once she was calm, Mina was able to think rationally and decided to let Danny handle this one. She wanted to observe why this ghost gave her boyfriend such a hard time. He was doing so well the past few months. And now, suddenly, he was struggling with this one ghost?

Instead of confronting Mina about what Danny had said, Jazz jumped out of her seat and ran after her little brother, "Danny, wait!"

Mina blinked as she watched Jazz disappear behind the same doors that Danny had gone through. Alarmed, Sam exclaimed, "Come on!"

However, the two ran out of the front instead of towards the back doors. Seeing that she was alone, Mina entered the back and slipped into a storage closet to transform. Once she was in her ghost form, she intangibly flew back into the pharmacy to watch and help whenever she could with Danny's fight against this elusive ghost.

When she returned, Mina arrived just in time to see Danny zip in and kick the ghost into a sunglasses display. Taking off the sunglasses that landed on his face, the ghost growled at him.

"I know you need your makeup, but you're just gonna have to wait your turn," said Danny.

The ghost then shoots an ectoblast that Danny narrowly escapes. His ectoblast instead vaporized a book display. Hearing the commotion, the shoppers started to notice the fight and ran out of the store screaming while Danny dodged more ectoblasts. Meanwhile, Tucker and Sam had come back inside the building when they heard the screams.

When the ghost punches Danny into a wall of backpacks, Mina's eyes narrow at his words, "You're not very good at this, are you?"

Getting back up, Danny glared, "Yeah, well, maybe I don't need to be to beat you!"

Mina's eyes widened when she saw the ghost shapeshift into a wolf and knew immediately that this was the same ghost that had shifted into the giant hornet back at their school. With the pieces clicking together, the picture was clear in her head.

Spectra wasn't working alone.

No, this ghost, whoever he is, was Spectra's partner-in-crime. And whatever their goal was, it looks like they were targeting Danny the most.

Danny, meanwhile, had tried to fly away from the now wolf ghost when it pounced at him. However, he wasn't fast enough, and the ghost got a lucky bite out of his tail, cornering him.

Seeing his predicament, Danny second thought about what he said, "Then again–"

"Hey, get away from him!" shouted Tucker, pointing at them.

Turning away from Danny, the wolf ghost turned to attack both Sam and Tucker, making the latter gulp, "Or, don't. Seriously, it's open for discussion."

Seeing what he was about to do, Danny shouted, "No! You leave them alone!"

He tackled the wolf ghost down. However, instead of coming out on top to be able to hold the ghost down, it was the ghost who had ended up on top as it pinned the halfa's wrists down. Danny struggled, trying to free himself, but couldn't move an inch.

Seeing his struggle, the ghost smirked and mockingly said, "Oh, look. The little loser ghost has a few baby helpers."

Angry at being called a loser, Danny's eye twitches. He was about to let his anger take over him to throw the ghost off of him until an ectoblast shot out of nowhere. The ghost yowled in pain and growled at where it had come from just to have his tail tucked between his legs when his eyes met with icy blue eyes glowing red.

Mina menacingly said in a low, angry tone, "Don't you ever call him a loser."

He smirked at the sweet, deliciousness of her anger before he returned his attention to Danny when the boy, still angered at being called a loser, fired a powerful ectoblast at him. The ghost dodged easily as the blasts destroyed the store cases instead, leaving the pharmacy in shambles.

Shifting back into his original form, the ghost smirked, "Well, that's enough damage for one afternoon. Ta-ta!"

He then flies off through the ceiling. Of course, not without catching a last glance at the still glaring female halfa whose eyes turned back her icy blue color.

Danny and the others hadn't noticed Jazz, who had been watching through the window, looked on in shock at where the ghost had disappeared before looking at Danny. However, her eyes locked on the female ghost hovering beside her little brother. Seeing the female's features closely and how the two interacted and hovered close to each other, Jazz knew that it could be no one else but Mina. The older girl knows how much her little brother loves the raven-haired girl and will never cheat on her with some random ghost girl.

Looking at the wreckage of the store, Tucker rubbed the back of his neck, "I sure hope they're insured."

Danny sighed dejectedly, "Great, he got away again. Another ringing endorsement for the town screw-up."

Mina, feeling guilty for not helping as she should have instead of observing, followed him when he flew off. The couple did not notice Jazz watching them fly away.

Flying up next to him, Mina grabbed Danny's hand, who immediately intertwined their fingers. She wanted to tell the boy of her findings, but looking at the still dejected look on his face, Mina mentally sighed and decided to bring it up later.

The day had passed to evening, and Danny had wanted to be by himself when they arrived home. Mina left him to enter her room, knowing he wanted his space. Which leaves her still there as she had just finished her homework, ignoring the usual loud explosion from downstairs.

Mina turned her head when she heard her bedroom door open. She hadn't expected Jazz to enter; the girl would be doing some schoolwork at this hour.

"Did you need something, Jazz?" asked Mina, raising an eyebrow when all the older girl did was stand at the doorway, staring at her.

Concerned, Mina called her name, "Jazz?"

That seemed to snap Jazz out of whatever train of thought she was on, and smiled sheepishly, "Oh, sorry, Mina."

Pursing her lips, Jazz had thought about Mina's words when discussing her suspicions about Spectra. And now, knowing what she and Danny were, Jazz wanted to know what the girl thought of the shrink.

"You mentioned before that Spectra wasn't helping Danny. What makes you think that?" asked Jazz.

Frowning at the sudden question, Mina hadn't expected the older girl to listen to her. Though it is nice for someone to listen to her finally, Mina knew that Jazz wouldn't understand, or rather get the full picture if she mentioned that Spectra might be a ghost. A ghost that makes people feel miserable. Mina wasn't sure if Spectra fed off of the person's misery.

"Well…" started Mina, gathering her thoughts on how to tell Jazz without mentioning too much. "Have you noticed how miserable everyone is? The ones that go and see Spectra, I mean. It's not just Danny who has been feeling miserable, Jazz. I overhear other students talking about their session with the shrink, and I don't think she's helping them like a therapist should. Rather, she's doing quite the opposite."

Hearing her reason, Jazz thought about it, and her eyes widened. She never noticed. She has been so occupied with trying and helping Danny or getting him help that she hadn't noticed it. And now that she was thinking clearly about it, Jazz noticed that Danny had become more bitter, more negative, especially towards her, ever since his first session with Spectra.

Jazz smiled brightly at the girl, knowing what she needed to do to help Danny, "Thanks, Mina. I'll keep a closer eye on her."

Turning to leave, Jazz stopped and looked at the girl over her shoulder, "Oh, and Mina? Thanks for staying by Danny's side."

With that, Jazz left. This leads to Mina furrowing her brows, confused as to why the older girl had thanked her. Why wouldn't she stay by Danny's side?

She was snapped out of her wondering when she heard a knock on her still-open doorway. This time, it was Danny who was looking down the hall before looking at her with a raised eyebrow,
"What did Jazz want?"

Mina shrugged, "She just wanted to hear why I'm suspicious of Spectra. I told her my thoughts of the woman and left."

Danny hummed before entering her room, not before closing the bedroom door behind him, and sat on her bed. Sitting beside him, Mina saw that he looked a bit better. He still looked angry and sad, but something must've happened that made some light return to his eyes.

Thinking that now would be a good time, Mina gained his attention, "Hey Danny."

Humming, the male halfa looked at her, "Yeah?"

"Spectra may be a ghost."

Danny's eyes widened as he sat up straight on her bed, "You mentioned you didn't trust her last time. What makes you think that she could be a ghost?"

Crossing her arms, Mina asked, "Does she have an assistant? Or anyone that helps her?"

Not understanding what she was getting at, he answered, "Yeah, it's some guy named Bertrand who looks more like her butler than her assistant."

"So, my theory was right," hummed Mina.

Danny sighed, "Can you please tell me what's going on inside that head of yours? What makes you think Spectra may be a ghost, Mina?"

Shaking her head, Mina told him her theory, "I think that Spectra may be a ghost because of your first session with her. You mentioned that her room was cold. A very cold room that can become the school's second freezer. My theory of that would probably be because of us."

"Us?" asked Danny, confused about what they have anything to do with it.

Mina nodded, "I think she may have done it because she knows about our ghost sense. A ghost sense that can sense other ghosts with our breath. You shiver when a ghost is nearby."

Danny's eyes widen, realizing that she may be onto something while Mina continues, "Another is that you mentioned that she was supposed to help with the therapy session. But if you weren't wallowing so deep in your negative emotions, you would have realized that you weren't the only one feeling miserable. I've noticed that most of the others, if not all, from our school had gone to see Spectra and came out just as miserable as you did. A lot worse than you did."

Thinking back on the other students, Danny hadn't noticed. He hummed, "Huh, you're right."

Mina nodded, "I wouldn't have expected you to notice since Spectra's poison words had gotten to you. Making you look like a fool in front of everyone is just a bonus to her."

Danny growled at the embarrassment of what he had gone through today because of the shrink. But he stopped when he felt a soft hand over his fisted ones on his lap. Mina frowned, "What's done is done, Danny. There's no use in changing it."

Sighing, Danny nodded, knowing that she was right.

"And lastly, there's Bertrand. Haven't you thought it was weird that he was in Spectra's office when we first encountered him? And then there was the incident with that giant ghost hornet, which I figured was him because he shapeshifted right in front of us back at the pharmacy. I guess those two are working together, and he's there to throw us off from being suspicious of Spectra," finished Mina.

Finally seeing the picture, a determined look settled on Danny's face, "Looks like we'll have to wait for tomorrow."

It was the next day at Casper High. The quartet stood at Danny's and Mina's lockers as the former grabbed one of his textbooks.

"Uh, is it just me, or is this the worst Spirit Week in the history of Casper High Spirit Weeks?" asked Sam, looking at depressed-looking students mingling in the school hallway.

Dash groaned, "Another day, another 24 hours closer to a career of pumping gas."

Kwan miserably replied, "At least you'll have a job. Apparently, I'm gonna end up a hobo. I didn't even know they had hobos anymore!"

The four looked at Paulina and Valerie, who walked by looking just as similarly depressed as each other and everyone else, while the former said, "Did you know wrinkles can start emerging at your mid-twenties?"

Determined to get everyone's spirit back and stop this dark cloud of misery, Danny looked at the two as he intertwined his hand with Mina's, and he quietly said, "Mina and I think Spectra might be a ghost."

Sam and Tucker's eyes widened as the latter asked, "How do you guys know?".

Danny answered, "Mina pointed out when I told her how cold Spectra's office was. I kept seeing my breath when I was there, which is likely to hide my ghost sense, hiding her true self. Spectra is somehow making people more miserable without us knowing."

Wanting to help out their friends, Sam smirked, "Only one way to find out.

Spectra's office door slams open just for Tucker and Sam to leave, looking more horrible than when they entered her room.

Tucker sighed dejectedly, "I hate my life."

"I hate your life more," said Sam.

Spectra stood at the doorway as they trudged off, smiling, "Buh-bye! And remember, there's only an 'I" in "misery" if you spell it that way!"

With that, she slammed the door closed behind her.

Invisible in their ghost form, Danny and Mina fly through the door and enter the office to find Spectra surrounded by a swirl of ghost energy before breathing it all in. They watched as the woman looked younger, all the wrinkles disappearing instantly.

Spectra breathed from the feeling of being young again, "Ahhh. Man, that's good."

Sitting on the desk, she shuffled through Tucker and Sam's student profiles and smirked at their picture, "I'm gonna miss these kids. They're a waterfall of misery."

The same ghost Danny had fought yesterday flew through the wall just then. Mina's eyes narrowed, and knew that she was right after all. The ghost, Bertrand, was working with Spectra when the woman saw him, "There you are. You hooked up the device?"

"Of course. And when the spirit sparklers go up, vaporizing the only chipper kid left in the entire school, there'll be enough misery and anguish in that room to keep us looking young forever!" said Bertrand, excited for the event to start.

However, it was quite the opposite for Danny and Mina, as they were horrified at what they just heard. Hearing the bell ring, the halfa's hearts started beating with dread as they knew it was time for everyone to gather for the speech. The very speech that Jazz will be giving out.

Spectra smirked at the sound, "Well, there's the bell. Shall we go hear a speech and bum some more kids out?"

The two merged into a single blob of ecto-energy and zapped through the wall. Becoming visible again, Mina looked frantically at her boyfriend, "Danny, we have to get Jazz out of there!"

"We need to get rid of those two first! If we don't, they'll just escape and spread more misery somewhere else!" said Danny, phasing out of the room.

Mina quickly followed him and saw him blasting an ectoblast at Bertrand, who was in his human disguise. Spectra's eyes widen at what happened to her partner before turning to find Danny and Mina hovering behind her. She saw that Danny had been the one to fire the blast, thanks to the smoke coming from his hand.

Danny glared at them, "Thanks to Mina, I finally figured it out. You feed on misery, don't you?"

"I'm sorry, can I help you two?" asked Spectra, pretending not to know what he was talking about.

"No, I'm sure you can't. You can't help anyone except yourself."

They both dodged when Spectra lunged for them, going around behind her while Mina kept her eyes on Bertrand in case he decided to lunge at them from behind.

Danny continues, "You find that one thing that a kid's most afraid of– their future, their looks, their confidence–"

Hearing him falter slightly on his words, Mina glanced worriedly at him before keeping her sight back on Bertrand when Danny continued, his voice filled with more confidence, "And you pick at it and pick at it while your snippy little ghost assistant feeds on it!"

"Hey!" shouted Bertrand, offended at being called snippy.

"Very good," said Spectra, clapping at Danny's and Mina's detective work. Smirking, her eyes flashed red, and a purple ring of fire flared around her, "But I fear you've missed a few details!"

The fire then turns to purple smoke, and Spectra shifts into her true form. An all-black form that Mina couldn't help but admire.

"Okay, I got to admit. She looks pretty cool," complimented Mina, gaining a look from Danny.

Spectra smiled at the compliment, "Why thank you."

She then flies at them, aiming for Danny with both hands glowing with ecto-energy. Danny rears back, startled. His eyes widened when Mina flew before him, intercepting Spectra with her glowing, ecto-energy-filled hands.

"But that doesn't mean I will let you get away with calling my boyfriend a loser," said Mina, glaring at the still-smirking woman.

Danny was about to help her until he yelped when Bertrand shifted into his wolf form and tackled him, sending them intangibly through the wall.

Knowing Danny would be fine now that he had regained his confidence, Mina tightened her grip on Spectra's, who laughed, "Tell me, girl, what benefit would you gain being by the halfa's side? All he's been doing is holding you back, stopping you from showing your true potential. Or could it be that you're scared he might leave you for someone else? Or, more accurately, leave you when he knows the truth?"

Anger rising within her, Mina's icy blue eyes flashed red as she blasted Spectra from their connected hands. Spectra slammed into the locker and laughed as she breathed in a mist of ghostly energy.

"Oh, the energy from you is delicious," said Spectra, standing up from the floor.

Mina frowned, confused, " What are you talking about?"

Spectra laughed, "Haven't you ever wondered why you're always so angry?"

When she saw that Mina still didn't understand, Spectra revealed her and Bertrand's true intentions, "When Bertrand and I first arrived here, we weren't going to do anything to the students. What we came here was for you. Your energy alone will keep us young forever. But then, when I arrived here and was surrounded by nothing but an all-you-can-stay-young buffet, I thought, 'Why not get more?' So, that's when we decided to not only feed off the student's miseries. But yours as well."

Still confused, Mina asked, "But how exactly are you feeding off of me? I'm not feeling miserable at all?"

Spectra, smirk still on her lips, narrowed her eyes and answered, "You've been angry and miserable at not knowing how to make the halfa feel better, haven't you?"

Mina's eyes widened, and knew that she was right. She had been miserable at not knowing how to make Danny feel better. Because every time she tried to bring his spirit back up, it wouldn't last long. And she has been so angry at everyone, especially Spectra, for laughing and embarrassing Danny.

However, though it may have been true, she now knows the truth and knows they will be all right. Closing her eyes, Mina took a deep breath before letting her anger go. So when she opened her eyes, it revealed them glowing a bright ice blue color. She grinned.

The smirk on Spectra's face falls when she can feel that the girl is no longer angry or miserable. But then she grins again when she remembers how to bring it back and flies out of the building, following where the two males have gone.

Mina quickly followed her, knowing exactly what she was going to do. When she caught up to Spectra, Mina saw she had a hold of Danny.

"Let go of me!" shouted Danny, struggling to escape her hold.

Mina shouted, "Danny!"

Before she could fly to help him, Bertrand stopped Mina, who, still in his wolf form, grinned at her, "Now, now. Don't tell me you forgot about little 'ol me, did ya?"

Tightening her fist, Mina lunged at Bertrand as the two started to fight.

Spectra smirked when she saw her partner keeping one halfa busy and returned her attention to the other one in her grasp, "No can do, Danny. Your doubt, your misery, it may be delicious. But your little girlfriend's is even more delectable."

Danny's eyes widened at her words as she brought them to watch the dominos fall from where they hovered at the gym windows. His heart beat heavily in his chest.

"And the best part is, as soon as that silly speech is over, and that last domino falls and the sparklers vaporize the speaker, we'll leave you here to take the blame. And by the time I'm done with you, you'll be sure it was all your fault! While we will eternally feed off from your little girlfriend."

Spectra's smirk turned menacingly until they turned to confusion when she saw his eyes narrowed. Protectiveness rose within Danny; his eyes glowed as a surge of power that he had felt like nothing before rose within him, "Man, I am so tired of you dumping on me. And I am so tired of dumping on myself. Jazz never did that, even when I was mad at her. And I won't let her down!"

Spectra screeched when Danny's power pushed her. Fisting his hands, Danny finishes, "And Mina, she was always there by my side, cheering me up when I was down. When I was always at my lowest, so, if you think I will let you feed off of her, you better think again. Because I won't let you or your assistant hurt her. Ever!"

Grinning menacingly, Spectra ordered, "Bertrand! Sic him!"

Dodging his claws, Mina followed Bertrand with her eyes when he lunged away. In mid-air, Bertrand shape-shifted into a ninja, gaining a flat look from both halfa's. Of all the things the ghost decided to be, he chose to be a ninja. They watched Bertrand perch on a tree branch and whirl a set of nunchucks around.

"We so don't have time for this," said Danny.

While Bertrand was waving the weapon, Mina rolled her eyes, flew up behind the ghost, and shot an ecto-blast. Bertrand gasped in surprise and screamed when Danny sucked him up in the Thermos.

"No! Aaaahhhh!"

Mina flew next to Danny as they both turned to Spectra, grinning at her as the latter rattled the Thermos around, taunting her that she was next.

Can't believe they had captured her assistant, Spectra angrily shouted as she lunged for them, "You're both through!"

Mina smirked as she gestured to Danny to do the honors since he had been Spectra's victim the past three days, embarrassing him in school and making him miserable through her lies. Danny flies behind Spectra and grabs her by the tail, "And you're done telling me what to do!"

He then throws her into a nearby dumpster, a satisfying feeling flowing through him.

Mina looked into the gymnasium window and gasped when she saw that the dominoes were close to the end. She shouted, "Danny! Hurry and save Jazz!"

Danny gasped and turned intangible, zipping through the wall and saving his sister, going through another wall. He got her out of there in the nick of time because just when the last domino fell, it triggered the ray guns, blasting the podium.

Mina sighed in relief when she saw that they were all right. Until her attention was captured by Spectra when the older ghost seized her in a hold. Mina grunted as she tried to pry her off, but her hold was too strong.

Laughing, Spectra flew them to where Danny and Jazz were. When their sight landed on the still struggling Mina, Danny worriedly shouted, "Mina!"

Spectra put a hand on Mina's chin, making the female halfa look at the Fenton siblings, and laughs, "Look at you. What was it that you said to me earlier? That you won't ever let me hurt your little girlfriend?"

Spectra ran her sharp nails slowly down Mina's cheek, leaving four long scratches. Danny watched dreadfully as small green droplets ran down his girlfriend's face. He gritted his teeth and brought the Thermos up to suck the woman in. But before he could do so, it was knocked out of his hand when Spectra sent an ecto-blast his way.

The woman maniacally laughed, "Look at you. Can't even protect your little girlfriend. What are you? A ghost trying to fit in with humans? Or some creepy little boy with creepy little powers?"

Jazz and Mina clenched their fists angrily at her words.

Danny clenched his head, afraid that Spectra might hurt Mina even further, as he insecurely answered, "Both! Uh...neither! I don't know."

"You're a freak! Not a ghost, not a boy!" said Spectra, grinning as she absorbed Danny's and Mina's ecto-energy, feeling the girl's rage boiling on the surface.

"Who cares for a thing like you?"

Deciding enough was enough, Jazz interrupted, "Excuse me."

Both halfa's looked at the older girl when she continued, "I don't know these kids, but I hope it's ok if the ghost boy gets a second opinion."

They all watched as she held the Fenton Ghost Peeler and activated it as armor encased her. Jazz voiced her awkwardness at her parent's invention, "...This is weird."

Once she completely suited up, Danny saw that Jazz was already firing the Fenton Ghost Peeler at Spectra, who still held Mina in her grasp.

He shouted, "Wait, Jazz! She still has Mina!"

But it was too late to stop. The Ghost Peeler shot a ray straight towards them, Danny watching in horror.

Seeing the ray heading straight towards her and Spectra, Mina closed her eyes tightly. She waited with bated breath, waiting for the pain to come. However, the only one to scream in agony was Spectra. Mina quickly staggered away when she felt the older woman's grasp on her gone.

Danny, seeing her getting away from the ray, ran up to her and tightly hugged her to him as he and Mina watch Spectra's black ghostly form peel away to expose her 'human' form. Which then starts to peel her like an onion, showing the teens her older and more elderly version of herself. Finally, when there was nothing left to peel, there, smoking and surrounded by her ghost peelings, stood an ancient-woman-looking Spectra.

"Talk about having nothing within," said Danny, his first time seeing that happen to a ghost and hoping that would be his last.

Feeling her face filled with wrinkles, Spectra shouted in devastation, "Aaahh, nooo! I am nothing without my youth!"

Seeing the Thermos on the ground, Mina picked it up and handed it to Danny, who turned it on as it started sucking her in. Spectra screams, unable to fight now that she has lost much of her powers.

Jazz powered down the Ghost Peeler and smiled at the result, "Hey, it worked! But it's still weird."

She then walked up to the halfa couple, to which Danny cautiously held Mina away from the older girl, still remembering what she had done. Jazz noticed this and felt guilty that she had aimed her parents' ghost invention at Mina.

She apologized, "I'm very sorry. I…uh…I didn't know it would fire right after activating it."

Mina put a hand on Danny's arm, the boy looking down at her in concern. She smiled at him before directing it at Jazz, "It's all right. It didn't seem to hurt me. So you're forgiven. And thank you for helping us with Spectra."

Jazz smiled brightly and sheepishly, "You're welcome."

Mina smiled and started pulling Danny with her, silently telling him they should get going. Danny nodded and smiled at his sister before holding Mina close to him as they turned intangible and flew outside of the gymnasium doors.

They returned to their human form when they saw that the coast was clear. Sighing at the long day, Mina was about to go inside where she knew Sam, Tucker, and Jake were, having them save her and Danny's seats until she was stopped.

"Mina, are you sure you're all right?" asked Danny, putting his hands on her shoulders as he carefully examined her for any injuries or hidden injuries she may have gained from his parents' invention.

Mina quickly reassured him, "Danny, I'm all right. I promise. I don't think the Fenton Ghost Peeler did any harm to me. To be honest, I feel perfectly fine."

When he saw that she was telling the truth, he gently touched her cheek, still holding the scratched marks from Spectra. He frowned, "I'm so sorry."

Mina smiled, "Don't worry about it. It only stings."

Wrapping his arms around her waist, Danny hugged her tightly as he buried his face in her shoulder, "That doesn't mean that I don't blame myself for it. It seems Spectra was right. I am a freak who can't even protect his girlfriend."

Pulling away from him, Mina put a hand on his chin as she made him look at her. She said sternly, "Danny Fenton, never blame yourself for this. Do you understand me? And if you're saying that Spectra was right about you being a freak. What am I, Danny? I'm as much a halfa as you are. Are you saying that I'm a freak also?"

Danny's eyes widened as he quickly shook his head, "No! Never!"

"Then you're not either. You may see yourself as a boy with ghost powers. But what I see is a boy who is trying his damn hardest every single day just to keep the peace in the world as he keeps us all safe from ghosts who wish to harm others," smiled Mina, putting a hand on his chest, feeling his heart beat strong in his chest.

Danny, in awe of the girl in front of him, felt his heart swell with pride and love as he put his forehead onto hers, "Thank you, Mina… Thank you."

Mina touched their lips, giving him her silent 'you're welcome' through the kiss. Pulling away, she smiled at him, "So, do you feel better now? No more anger and misery?"

Danny mentally checked and nodded, thinking about it, "Yeah, to be honest. It feels like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders."

"Okay, good," was Mina's only reply.

Feeling her grab his arm, Danny saw the world turn upside down as pain burned his back when it impacted the ground hard.

He groaned, confused at what just happened, "Wha-?"

Looking up at his girlfriend, who held a smirk on her lips as she looked down at him, she said, "That is for using me as a scapegoat when you tried to get away from Jazz back at the pharmacy yesterday."

Groaning, Danny laid still on the ground, "Okay, I deserved that."

Giggling, Mina started to head to the gym doors, "Hurry up, or else I'm going to leave you out here."

Quickly getting back up, Danny smiled grimly before following her, glad she wasn't too mad at him.

When they both got inside and sat next to their friends, Danny quietly asked, something that had been on his worried mind, "By the way, how come the Fenton Ghost Peeler didn't affect you?"

Confused just as he is, Mina shrugs, "Not sure. Your guess is as good as mine."

"Well, whatever. I'm just glad that it didn't hurt you," said Danny, pulling her closer to him by wrapping an arm around her waist and waving at Jazz when she arrived back on stage.
