Chapter 4: Graduation

It was Saturday evening. Graduation Day.

Riley was putting her shoes on for graduation. She couldn't believe it, she was really graduating.

It feels like she was just a Freshmen in High School and now she was graduating.

Riley signed and rubbed her sweaty palms on the front of her dress. Riley wished Farkle, Maya, her dad, or mom were with her. But they were either getting ready, or were doing something else.

Farkle's dad was back for the weekend for his graduation, so him and his mom decided they'd all go to lunch.

I wonder how that's going. Riley thought, sighing out loud.

Maya was getting ready with her moms help and "mom & daughter" quality time. Katy's words, not Maya's.

Her dad was at the High School already helping with Graduation stuff, and her mom was finishing something at her office, so she was going to meet them there. Then there's Auggie who is with Ava and her mom out eating, and so they were going to meet there at the Graduation too.

She was alone.

Riley took a deep breath and looked at herself smiling.

I look beautiful. Riley thought.

Riley was wearing a beautiful spaghetti strapped mid length green dress with a small bow tie on the side of her dress, with string strapped tan heels. Riley had her brunette hair down with waves in it, and her make up was natural looking.

Riley smiled looking down at herself.

She had one more hour until she needed to go. Riley laid down on her bed feeling sad.

Even though she looked good, and she knew she did, she wished someone was with her. The person she wished most of all, was Farkle who she could be with right then and there.

After the night before she didn't know if Farkle was okay. He left so hastily, she wished he'd explained it better to her.

Maybe I pushed him too much with sex, he's probably not ready. Riley thought.

Riley groaned in her hands.

"Maybe it was my fault!" Riley yelled out loud, as she laid her arms back on the bed.

Right then she heard a knock at her window.

Riley looked up and to her shock, saw Farkle sitting outside her bay window.

Why is he here? Riley thought.

He was matching with Riley.

He was wearing a green polo shirt with striped white and grey pants that had a belt holding them up, and he was wearing black dress shoes. His hair was spiked, but nicely done.

Riley held in a breath.

Wow, he's really good at looking like THAT. Riley thought.

Riley looked in his eyes and smiled at him, he smiled back at her sweetly.

He gestured to her window and she nodded before walking to the window and opening it.

"Hey." Riley whispered.

"Hi." Farkle said, kissing her.

"Oh." Riley said, closing her eyes gently.

They both moved until Farkle was on top of Riley, kissing her like his life depended on it.

When he hit her g-spot at her neck, she moaned quietly, before biting on her lower lip trying not to get loud.

"F-farkle." Riley moaned as Farkle started grinding himself against her.

Farkle kissed Riley on the lips plunging his tongue down her throat.

She loved this but she knew something was wrong, she started kissing him slower then it stopped and they just laid there for a second.

"What happened?" Riley asked, as he laid his forehead against hers.

"My parents were arguing at lunch." He started.

Riley sighed.

"Of course," Riley said. "What else happened?"

He shrugged.

"My dads already leaving for his next Business Call, he's not coming to the graduation."

"Oh, baby. I'm so sorry." She said, wrapping her arms around his neck.

He shrugged.

"It's okay. I realized, I want to have sex with you." He started.

Riley gave him a look.

"I-is that all you want, and came here for?" She asked, slowly unwinding her arms away from his neck, resting her hands on his forearms.

"No, that's not at all what I want, and that's not all I came here for," He said, and she relaxed against him. He laid down on his side, before continuing. "I wanted to tell you, that I thank you."

She gave him a look.

"Thank me, for what?" She asked him.

"Well, when they were arguing I remembered how much you had been there for me, especially these past 3 years. Thank you for that."

She nodded and smiled at him.

"Of course."

He looked her in the eyes and started talking again.

"I-I realized just how much I love you, and just how much I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want to be different from my parents. I want to experience everything with you, and I know at Prom I said that I wanted to wait for the right moment, but I'm always stopping everything before we get to that moment. Even if we're in our own rooms alone. Because, well-" he sighed shrugging, before starting again, "I'm scared that after we give ourselves to each other, that I'll lose you."

Farkle looked away from her eyes, at her shoulder, having this heavy look in his eyes.

She felt an emotion of love as tears threatened to fall.

"I get it, baby," she grabbed his chin and held it in her hands, looking into his eyes as she started to tremble as she talked to him. "I will never leave you. I-I love you, and you know that. I would never give myself to you if I didn't think I will marry you. Farkle, I want you. I-I want you and only you. It's always been you."

Riley sniffled, trying not to cry. Farkle looked at her, his face getting more red with tears.

"I have more." Riley said, sniffling again.

He wiped her tears away and caressed her cheek in his hand, loving her even more. He kissed her forehead then pulled away.

"Continue, my love." He told her.

She nodded, sniffed a little more, and continued.

"I know I-I was a mess for a long time but when we found each other, and fully admitted to what we have w-we grew. We became something. Something I can honestly say I knew was the right decision. How could I ever want to leave you i-if your the only guy who knows all the shit I've been through? The only person who knows all the shit I've done, and still loves me with it? You helped me when I needed you most too. Farkle, I am so in love with you, and I want to prove it to you. I-I knew there was something else to it then just wanting to wait for me to be sure, I'm so glad you told me. I-I'm so glad I'm yours."

Riley stopped talking and kissed him with all her might. The tears rolling down their faces as they shared to each other their truths.

They've kissed a million times before, but this one was different. It was like a promise being made.

As they were kissing Riley's hands traveled down to his shirt and her nails went up and down his abs gently. Riley gently pulled his shirt up over his head and then continued kissing him. Starting to get lost in the feeling of them all around each other.

Just as she started straddling him, they heard an alarm go off.

They pulled apart gasping for air, in shock.

"T-that is my alarm I set for graduation. I was gonna take a nap for an hour before I needed to go. But, y-you showed up." Riley explained, with barely any air.

Farkle laughed.

"That's okay, we can continue this later. What about tonight?" He asked her.

Riley looked at him in shock.

"Are you sure?" She asked him.

He nodded with love in his eyes.

"Yes, I'm sure. But if you don't want to, you don't need to. Don't feel pressured." He told her suddenly alarmed.

"Hey," she grabbed his face in her hands. "I want it too."

She suddenly had an excited expression.

"What is it?" He asked her.

She smiled.

"I'm excited for your hands to be all over my body." She said.

He chuckled.

"I am too." He said, kissing her forehead. "Now, it's time to go."

Riley smiled.

"Yep!"

They stood up and situated themselves.

As she looked herself in the mirror, she twirled her long hair in her hand looking behind at Farkle through the mirror.

He smiled at her and came over to her, wrapping his arms around her from behind.

He kissed her neck and she laughed before he buried his face in her neck. She smiled and pulled her phone out of her dresses pocket, taking a mirror picture of them.

He looked up and smiled so they had a picture of him showing his face too.

She put her phone back in her pocket and sighed loving the feeling of his arms around her. She turned around, and they shared a nice long hug.

She looked up at him, suddenly in deep thought.

"Quick question." She said.

"Yes baby?" He asked, rubbing circles on her back.

"Is your mom still coming?" She asked.

He signed.

"Yeah, she's coming. She just went to the house quickly. You know, she was crying because of the argument they had." He explained.

"Oh baby," Riley paused "I'm so sorry."

He shrugged.

"It's okay, I'm used to it." He said, looking down.

She grabbed his face and kissed him.

"You shouldn't be." She told him.

He nodded, smiling as he laid his head against her forehead.

"I love you."

She smiled widely.

"I love you too." She said, looking up at him again.

He had a worried look in his face, obviously worried about his mom.

"It'll be okay," She said, looking into his eyes. "We need to go."

"Yeah, we do," Farkle said. "Let's go."

Riley smiled, before they walked all the way down to the outside.

"Do you want to take the subway?" She asks him.

He smiles at her.

"Of course!"

"First to get there wins!" Riley shouted, before they both started running towards the subway.

Riley sat next to Maya as there was another seat that was empty beside her.

It was Farkle's seat.

"I knew he'd become Valedictorian." Maya muttered.

Riley shushed her and payed attention to her boyfriends speech.

"Good evening!" Farkle started with a warm smile. "As many of you know, I am the one with many names; The Genius, The Baseball Star, Glow-Up Fanatic, Freak, Orange Turtleneck-"

Farkle looked at Riley in the crowd and winked at her with the reference of Middle School when she got his favorite Orange Turtleneck. She blushed, looking down at her lap as Maya chuckled, holding Riley's hand in hers.

"But there is more to me then those famous names," Farkle said seriously. "I am a friend, a lover, a son, and most of all; I am Farkle Minkus. The person who believed could rule the world in middle school. I remember the first day I met my best friends in elementary, and how they became my eternal friends. Then as we got older I remember us getting in relationships, and growing up, to then later becoming who we all are today. It was a crazy turn up. We all made mistakes, but we all managed to get here. We are all the same people we were when we were little kids. But we got older, we learned, we matured. Some of us are going to college, or going into the military, some of us are taking a break from school, some of us are creating businesses, and some are still trying to rule the world, their own world. The world they know to be the world they need to rule. We are all still those kids. So, no matter how far, or how much older we get. We will all be routed to this place here. Because it'll be what made us, us. So, no matter how long it takes. We will all see each other here 10 years from now, and see how much better we grow from this point. I am honored to have been able to be The Genius, The Baseball Star, The Glow-Up Fanatic, The Freak, The Orange Turtleneck, and so much more. I hope life treats you all well. Good luck in the real world."

Farkle smiled so wide as he finished his talk.

Riley looked at him and smiled.

Life couldn't get any better then this.

Riley and Farkle walked out hand in hand of the big gym they were in.

"Farkle, your speech was amazing." Riley told him.

"Thank you babe, I'm glad you liked it." He said.

"Of course I did! You always do so well!" Riley said, kissing him.

He smiled then leaned down to her ear.

"Yeah? Imagine how much better I'll do tonight." Farkle teased her, winking at her as he pulled away.

She looked at him in shock before whining.

"Ugh, why are you teasing me?" She whispered back to him.

He shrugged.

"Can I not tease my girlfriend?" He asked her.

She rolled her eyes.

"Now come on, we have people to get to." He told her.

She laughed, before they walked towards their friends and families hand in hand.

Riley saw her mom and hugged her.

"Oh, I'm so proud of you!" Her mom said.

"Yes, I'm proud of you too!" Cory told his daughter.

"Thanks dad." Riley said, hugging her dad.

"Now, what are you planning on majoring in again?" Topanga asked.

Riley laughed nervously before sighing.

"W-well-"

Just as she was about to reply, Shawn walked forward.

"Hey you guys, so, we're having dinner with tons of people, do you guys want to come with us?" Shawn asks, looking at Riley and winking at her.

"Oh, we're going to dinner?" Cory asked excitedly.

"Yeah, Cor!" Shawn confirmed.

"Oh, I'm in buddy!" He told him.

"Oh, good!" Shawn said, as they broke into a hug.

As they got lost in conversation Riley saw Farkle talking to his mother. She looked heartbroken as Farkle looked upset.

A common expression she's seen on Farkle's face since the divorce happened.

Riley quickly walked away from them and got to Farkle and Jennifer.

"Hey Jenny." Riley said softly.

"Oh, Riley. Hello my darling." Jennifer said, hugging Riley.

"Hi." Riley said, releasing a breath as she felt a much needed hug.

"Was your mom asking questions about your studies again?" She asked.

Riley sighed before nodding.

Jennifer laughed.

"Ah, that's okay, she loves you." She told Riley.

"Oh, yes, I know. Which is such a good thing. But she's a lot to deal with sometimes, Jenny." Riley admitted to Jennifer.

Jennifer laughed and nodded.

"Yes, I know." Jenny said.

Riley pulled away from her and pulled into Farkle's steady arm.

"So, Shawn is rounding up everyone for dinner." Riley told them.

"Is he now." Farkle said, clearing his throat.

"Yes, he is." Riley said.

She looked at both of them.

"I was wondering if you wanted to come with us?" She asked.

Jennifer looked from Riley to Farkle.

"Why would I miss it?!" She asked. "Of course I'll go!"

They all smiled and for once.

Riley felt at peace.

Today's a good day. Riley thought.
