It was a sunny day in enchancia. Miranda, the local cobbler, was working hard on a pair of shoes. It was tough work, demanding work. Miranda wiped sweat from her forehead and continued working on the shoes. Her hands were calloused, and she felt tired. She had been working on the shoes for the better part of the day.

She sighed. It was hard running the shop all by herself. She had a husband birk who was a sailor. When they had a daughter miranda had refused to have only one source of income, so she opened the shoe shop. One day birk had left for a voyage but his ship had crashed. It had broken miranda's heart to see her daughter, sofia, wait for her father only to realize he wasn't coming home. And so miranda worked day and night in the shop.

Just then there was the sound of someone bounding down the stairs. Miranda smiled to herself. It was sofia. "Mom! Mom!" sofia yelled excitedly. A look of amusement crossed miranda's face as she turned to her daughter. She picked sofia up and spun her around before asking, "what happened?" it warmed her heart to see her daughter's bright smile. "The royal carriage flew into the village square. Can go see it please?" sofia asked.

Miranda suppressed a laugh. Her daughter loved the carriage because she thought it was beautiful. She also thought the castle looked amazing and would give anything to go there. Sofia often played princess with her best friends ruby and jade. "fine" miranda relented. Sofia hugged her mother tightly before running off. Miranda wasn't scared of anything happening to her. Everyone in the village knew her and she made friends quickly. Miranda turned back to her work.

Not even two minutes later sofia came running to her. "Mom! Mom!" she yelled, bubbling with happiness. "What now sofia?" miranda sighed. "The king's carriage is coming here!" the young girl informed. "What?" miranda gasped. Miranda quickly fixed her dress and hair.

The bell on the door jangled merrily as the king's attendant walked in. "hello. My name is baileywick. I am here to escort the cobbler to the palace to make new shoes for the king" baileywick said. Miranda's mouth just dropped open. She would be making shoes for the king!? "You are the cobbler, are you not?" bailiwick asked when Miranda didn't answer. "y-yes" miranda stuttered. "Please gather your stuff and come this way to the coach" baileywick requested.

Miranda quickly grabbed a satchel and got some tools as well as some samples of her work. She felt someone tug on her skirt. Miranda turned to find sofia with a hopeful look. "Can I come?" she asked. miranda thought for a minute. Sofia was pretty helpful taking measurements. Miranda turned to baileywick with an apologetic glance. "It is no problem" baileywick assured. The young girl jumped up and cheered. A warm smile made its way on miranda's face.

Sofia grabbed miranda's hand and tugged her toward the carriage. Once they were both seated the carriage took off and flew towards the castle.
