Something's Rotten in Amity Park

Chapter 1: From Zoravia to Amity Park

"Beat the Royals?" Danny asked in confusion upon reading a sign. "Are we being threatened by a royal family?"

"No, they're the visiting team for the upcoming football match, Danny." Tucker explained. "They come from Zoravia, the Crown Jewel of the Midwest."

"Crown Jewel?" Sam asked in confusion.

"The town of Zoravia used to be known as Fountain Park before renaming itself after the Kingdom of Zoravia and they went all the way with the royalty theme." Tucker explained. "Their water park has a ride that resembles the Turquoise Palace where Zoravia's royal family resides; their golf course has a statue similar to the one erected in the Kingdom of Zoravia in honor to the late King Hector."

"Wow, you sure did your research, Tucker." Sam commented. "I don't even know where Zoravia is."

"It's in Eastern Europe, Sam." Tucker replied.

"Were they part of the Soviet Union?" Danny asked.

"I don't think so, Danny." Tucker answered. "They had their own King in 1988."

"Why did you pick 1988 as a year of reference?" Sam asked.

"That was the year of King Hector's passing, Sam." Tucker answered.

"And how do you know so much about that Kingdom, Tucker?" Danny asked.

"The Kingdom of Zoravia has two things I love." Tucker replied. "A computer industry; and a beautiful Princess around our age!"

"Of course." Sam muttered while rolling her eyes.

"That explains you going there that summer." Danny commented.

"Hey!" Tucker protested. "It's not unusual for tourists to pick the Kingdom as a destination. Granted, most do it for the ancient parts of the Kingdom."

"Isn't the Royal Family of Zoravia upset over culture appropriation?" Sam asked.

"Not at all." Tucker answered. "They even visited a charity event hosted in the town of Zoravia, albeit I suspect the Princess who went there with them was a decoy hired to trick abductors." He said and showed a picture on his PDA. His friends were disgusted.

"Ewwww." Sam said. "Is that supposed to be a Princess?"

"Somebody must've spiked the punch." Tucker guessed and shrugged.

"Makes sense." Danny said.

"Whatever." Sam added.

Suddenly, the students were called to an assembly. "Attention, students." Principal Ishiyama said. "While I always expect you to be nice to our visitors, we must be extra attentive this time since the visiting school's Principal Lubek decided to come with his team."

"Wow!" Tucker was more impressed by that than any other student in Casper High. After the assembly, Tucker told his friends why. "As King Hector's first-born child, Lubek briefly became the King of Zoravia but, because of his past actions as head of the Zoravian spy academy and secret police, he became so hated by his subjects they made a referendum and elected to have Lubek's younger brother Carl as their King. Rumor says that Lubek's made some attempts to force the Zoravians to accept him as their King but, since there's no extradition treaty between the United States and the Kingdom of Zoravia, he cannot be forced back to his former homeland to face justice."

"I don't think he can be much of a threat to his former subjects." Sam commented. "He's so low in cash he's working as an educator."

"Royalty or not, he's an immigrant, Sam." Tucker argued. "He needs the job to avoid deportation until he can return to Zoravia as the King."

"Well, it's not like it's our concern." Sam commented. "It's just a rumor and we have no reason to believe he cares about the supernatural anyway."

Meanwhile, at Fentonworks, Jack and Maddie Fenton were welcoming a visitor. "May we help you, Mr." Jack asked until he remembering he didn't know the visitor's name.

"Lubek." The visitor identified himself. "Mr. Lubek. I'm ze Principal of Zoravia High and, since my school's football team is going to play a match in zis town, I've decided to buy something to protect my students from ghosts. Preferably with something zat allows me to control ghosts."

Meanwhile, at the hotel where the visiting students from Zoravia, Illinois checked in, one of those students was answering a video call. "Dad?"

"Natasha, Lubek's been seen meeting local ghost hunters Jack and Maddie Fenton." Her father said. "It confirms our suspicions that Lubek is planning to use ghosts as part of a plan to take over the Kingdom of Zoravia. You must stop him."

"Yes, Dad." Natasha replied with a salute.

Later on, Danny was flying back home when he was attacked by Skulker. "Whelp, I'll have your pelt…"

"Again?" Danny asked with annoyance. "You're becoming almost as boring as the Box Ghost."

"How dare you?" Skulker asked and shot several missiles at Danny, who used a ghost shield to protect himself. The resulting smoke prevented Skulker from seeing Danny. "Where are you, whelp?"

"Right here." Danny replied and hit Skulker's robotic head before the Ghost Zone's self-proclaimed greatest hunter could figure out Danny placed himself right behind him. Danny then sucked the tiny blob Skulker really was inside his mecha into a Fenton Thermos.

Danny then returned home and, to his surprise, found a girl he never met before. "Danny, this is Natasha." His mother Maddie said. "Natasha's school came to Amity Park for a football match and she decided to come here to satisfy her curiosity about ghosts."

"Nice to meet you, Natasha." Danny said, understand he had to be polite to his parents' guests. "I'm Danny Fenton. So, what's like coming from a town that copies an Eastern European Kingdom?"

"Actually, I'm an exchange student from the Kingdom of Zoravia." Natasha explained.

"Really?" Jack asked. "You speak English so well I couldn't tell you're a foreigner."

"Why, thank you, Mr. Fenton." Natasha replied and then turned her attention back to Danny. "Danny, since you figured out which school I attend from what your mother told you, I presume you attend Casper High."

"You presume right, Natasha." Danny said.

"I guess I'll see you at the game then." Natasha said.

"Not as a player." Danny said. "Sorry, I don't want to be rude but I've got homework to do."

"It can wait, Danny." Jack said. "That girl is curious about ghosts." He then approached Danny and whispered. "And I think she's developing a crush on you."

"What?" Danny asked.

"Sssshhhhhh." Jack shushed his son. "Your Mom and I must solve something at the lab. Please entertain our guest."

"Sorry about that." Danny told Natasha.

"It's okay." Natasha replied. "Well, since we're staying here for a while, we might as well try to get to know each other."

"Well, my parents hunt ghosts, I have an older sister who wants to be a psychologist and talks like she's already one, and I want to be an astronaut." Danny said. "Your turn."

"Well, my parents work at the Turquoise Palace, I'll likely end up working there someday, and I'm an only child." Natasha replied. "So, what's your view on ghosts?"

"Believe me or not, they're real." Danny answered, hoping that's all Natasha meant.

"No, Danny, I meant if you see all ghosts as evil like your parents do." Natasha clarified.

"No, there're exceptions like Danny Phantom." Danny replied and his parents almost came out from their hiding place.

"Where did we go wrong?" Jack whispered to Maddie.

"An exception?" Natasha asked in confusion. "Didn't he first became known in Amity Park for attacking the then Mayor Ernesto Montez?"

"Another ghost was overshadowing Ernesto Montez back then and Danny Phantom was trying to rescue him, Natasha." Danny explained.

"Overshadowed?" Natasha asked in confusion, not used to the word being used in that context.

"The other ghost was controlling Mayor Montez' body." Danny explained.

"Oh, you mean a possession?" Natasha asked and Danny nodded. "How odd. I never heard of it being called overshadowing."

"Yeah, now that you mentioned it, I don't recall having heard it being called 'overshadowing' before it became known to Amity Park that ghosts exist." Danny commented and his parents silently agreed.

"But what about the time he and three other ghosts were caught in robberies?" Natasha asked.

"A criminal known as Freakshow was using a magical artifact to control ghosts." Danny explained.

"And what happened to the artifact?" Natasha asked out of concern.

"It was destroyed." Danny answered.

"Well, I must leave now." Natasha said. "May I take a picture of you?" She asked while showing her camera.

"Okay." Danny uneasily said and she took a picture.

"See you at the game?" Natasha asked.

"Yes, Natasha." Danny answered during a moment of distraction and only realized what he said after she left. "Wait! Oh, why did I say that?"

"Because you have a crush on her." Jack answered as he revealed himself. "And who can blame you? She's interested in ghosts, thanks in part to her Principal."

"Principal Lubek?" Danny asked in shock.

"Do you know him?" Maddie asked.

"I know of him." Danny answered.

"He also came here asking about ghosts." Jack said. "He specifically asked about anti-ghost weapons and a way to control ghosts. He didn't like it when your mother and I told him we stopped selling weapons to untrained civilians after V-Man shot you during the McMasters fiasco."

After that conversation, Danny met his best friends at the Nasty Burger. "So, is Lubek planning to use ghosts as a way to retake the Zoravian throne?" Sam asked.

"And what about the student of his?" Tucker asked. "Is she hot?"

"I agreed to meet her during the football game." Danny answered and noticed Sam glaring at him. "I was distracted!"

"She is hot." Tucker replied with a smile.

"That doesn't matter." Sam said with irritation in her voice. "What do we do about Lubek?"

"We'll spy on him." Tucker suggested and his friends nodded. "Now, Danny, what'll you wear to your date?"

That night, as the Zoravia High students were about to leave for the match, Natasha received another call from her father. "Natasha, we received intelligence that Lubek plans to break Freakshow out of Amity Park Penitentiary. He must be stopped!"

"Yes, Dad!" Natasha replied.

During the game, Danny spotted Natasha near a stand that called "McYak Shack?" He asked in confusion.

"Oh, hi, Danny." Natasha replied. "Having a preference for yak meat is one of the things Zoravia, Illinois takes after the Kingdom of Zoravia. Have you ever tasted it? It's so yummy!"

"I think I'm gonna try." Danny replied. "So, how's it like attending a school headed by a former King of Zoravia?"

"I try not to think about it." Natasha answered with some hesitation. "After all, his days as King ended before I was even born."

"OK." Danny replied.

"But how do you know Lubek used to be King of Zoravia?" Natasha asked.

"A friend of mine who loves technology is fascinated with your nation's computer industry." Danny answered, not wanting to bring up Tucker's obsession with some Princess.

"Well, it was nice seeing you again, Danny." Natasha commented after she received her order. "Bye."

"Goodbye, Natasha." Danny replied and then ordered a Yak Burger.

"Don't you attend the other team's school?" The seller asked.

"Your point?" Danny asked in reply. After buying the burger, he rejoined his friends. "Yak burger, Danny?" Tucker asked upon feeling the aroma. "After my trip to the Kingdom of Zoravia, I've learned to sense the difference between yak meat and cow meat."

"Danny, it's already bad enough commercialism made you see nothing wrong with eating animals like cows, turkeys, pigs and chickens." Sam commented. "Did you have to add yaks to the list?"

"Look!" Tucker exclaimed. "The Zoravia Royals scored another touchdown!" Team Phantom hated the Casper bullies so much they actually liked seeing the Ravens lose.

"But why did you buy meat?" Sam asked. "Didn't I bring you enough tofu?"

"Only if you don't force Tucker to eat his." Danny replied, making Sam scowl at her friends.

"This is gonna be a long night." Tucker commented.

End chapter.

Author's note: The decoy Princess is an allusion to the Princess Natasha episode "Princess 3". The spiked punch theory is just that. A theory to how civilians and Lubek could mistake the decoy for the actual Princess.
