Girls Und Panzer Tankery's End Retribution

Chapter 1

The sun had reached its peak not long ago, the weather was moderate in terms of heat. The wind blew inland from the ocean giving a chill to the group of seven men. The men stood patiently as who or whatever they were waiting for was supposed to arrive by now, but sometimes things like this go weary.

Austin Mayes sat on the top of one of the two military grade Humvees present. His attire was plain to what he usually wore but on his shoulder laid a patch with the insignia of the IDF. Friend Island Defense Force, his home, and a place of history for him.

Sitting next to Austin was a lifelong friend Mark Manson. He to wore plain clothing but had the same patch on his own shoulder. Mark and Austin had been close since childhood as their mothers had been friends since their own childhood. The two sat not really partaking in any of the conversations that were going on at the moment but had been paying close attention.

"So you reckon that the rainbow sprinkles are the way forward with the doughnuts?" asked one of the other men in the group.

"Exactly, because then you get the different textures with the doughnuts and that gives you more of an incentive to eat them." Stated the second one.

"But if you have an affinity for chocolate then just chocolate sprinkles would be better because while you get the best of all worlds with rainbow you get your favorite with all chocolate." Said the first one.

"What in the world are you two clowns talking about!?" Demanded another of the group. The two stiffened up their posture at the question.

"Contemplating weather or not rainbow or chocolate sprinkles are better on doughnuts Sergeant." Said the first one. Sergeant Henry Johnson gave a cold glare at the two as they stood there practically shaking in fear.

"You two are the biggest imbeciles I've ever seen, talking about rainbow and chocolate sprinkles on doughnuts. Talk about sports, guns, women, something more you age." Johnson said turning his gaze back to the horizon. "Besides, vanilla sprinkles are superior." That last quip got a chuckle out of Mark, which the Sergeant heard.

"Got something to say Corporal?" Johnson asked. Mark quickly, and wisely, shut his mouth before replying.

"No Sergeant." Mark said. Johnson went back to his business as the others began another subject of conversation.

"So Austin, Mark, you two took part in that year long Tankery match right? What was it like?" Asked the first man. Mark looked at Austin who turned to answer the question.

"It was an experience I guess. First time ever something like that had happened, and with how things turned out it was the last." Austin said.

"But you guys had all those women around you to yeah? How did that feel?" Asked the second man.

"It felt fine. Besides those girls saved our lives back then. I still remember how things turned out. Hey Austin, how long has it been since the end of that game?" Mark asked unsure of the time.

"Eight years. Nine in the next few months." Austin said.

"But I thought that you guys were supposed to fight the Japanese girls. What happened to get you fighting side by side?" Asked the first man.

"You need to understand something Carl. When the Japanese Sensha Do Federation sent their members onto the island they treated us Americans like how the Nazi's treated the Jews. Albeit not to the highest extremes but we were neglected pretty badly. The girls saw what was happening and disapproved, so they saved us and defected to our side." Austin said. Carl nodded his head understanding his words.

"Not to mention that things were pretty hot to begin with. Rivers failing to take Hoja City at the start, Jonathan's campaign in the north, your little escapade in the mountains." Mark commented getting a glare from his friend.

"Shut up about that. It's not the fondest of memories for me." Austin said as Mark smirked.

"Not even when it led you to meet you know who?" Mark commented. Austin turned around and punched him in the arm, giving off a cold glare. "Alright, alright rough subject."

Once again the group waited for the arrival of a very late individual. The purpose of their presence was necessary for the goal of the team currently assembled. Besides the fact that the group had no idea what their mission is that led to their patience waning.

"What the hell are we even waiting for?" Asked the sixth member of the group. As he was the biggest and most impatient one he wanted to get this mission underway as soon as possible. Sergeant Johnson sighed, turned around, and moved towards the Humvees intent on debriefing his men.

"Alright gather around. Ill tell you what I know about the situation we're getting ourselves into." Johnson said as the group circled around him. "We were hand picked by our respective countries to investigate a local Separatist cell. Intel suggests that they have heavy weaponry and are intent on using those munitions to assault the capital Lima City. Now I know we all don't much enjoy the fact that we got sent to this god forsaken country of Peru, but this mission should be fast and easy. Plus it will put us in good graces with the Peruvian Government. Now here's the team formation. Corporal Butch Cavendish, Private Taylor Prince, you two are our forward units. You see anything you don't like you tell me immediately. Privates Carl Cartwright and Darius Robinson, you two will hold our rear. Watch our backs got it. Corporals Mayes and Manson you two will be escorting our guest when they arrive. Understood!" Sergeant Johnson asked.

"Yes Sergeant!" came a unanimous acknowledgement.

As soon as they finished a black speck could be seen moving in their direction. Johnson brought up his binoculars from his backpack and took a gander at the incoming object. With the help to his sight he recognized the make of a Black Hawk Helicopter moving at an adequate speed.

"Looks like our quest has arrived. Formation gents!" The six men got into a line and stood at attention. Whoever was on that Black Hawk clearly outranked the Sergeant so they would have to show respect to the upper echelon.

The helicopter soon made its way above the group and slowly descended, touching down within the minute. The side doors opened at our came two men dressed in hiking attire followed by a woman wearing the same. The two men carried brief cases while the woman held a folder full of papers and such. The men weren't much noticeable, but the woman got the attention of all the seven soldiers. She was tall, lean, and walked with a purpose. She had black hair and light blue eyes, but what set her apart was her aura and gaze. Her eyes were calm and collected but her stride seemed to emit a cold sensation. To most of the men she was a mystery, but to two men she was very similar.

"Oh crap." Austin muttered under his breath as the woman walked forward to Sergeant Johnson. They talked for a minute before turning around to address the squad.

"Gentlemen. This is 2nd Lieutenant Nonna Mayes from the IDF Intelligence Agency. She is our liaison for this mission so show her your upmost respect. Ten hut!" At his word all six men saluted. Nonna reciprocate the gesture and moved on with her two men following her. "Dismissed. Mayes, Manson, your in Humvee one with me and lady. The rest of you in Humvee two. Lets get ready to move."

The squad dispersed to ready themselves for the drive ahead but some of them took a moment to quench their curiosity on the sudden subject.

"Wow Austin, I didn't know you had a sister in the military to." Asked Carl. Austin just looked at him before responding.

"I don't." Was all he said before moving on. Austin and Mark reached the Humvee, opened the back, and began equipping themselves with their combat equipment. Vest, gloves, helmet for Mark and hat for Austin, as well as strapping their sidearms on their hips and their MP5's to their chests.

"Man you looked terrible. Are you that upset that Nonna's our liaison for this mission?" Asked Mark. Austin sighed and shook his head.

"No. I just haven't spoken to her for a while is all, and now I see her here. What do you want from me?" Austin asked. Mark shook his head and rolled his eyes.

"Maybe it's the best time to talk to her. You can settle this thing before she slaps you with papers." Mark suggested. Austin looked apprehensive at the subject and shook his head.

"I don't know, maybe it's too soon." He said before Mark interrupted him.

"You've been on my couch for four weeks. Go talk to her." Mark said sternly with a pointing finger. Austin sighed and softly nodded. He looked at where Nonna was talking to Johnson, her two lackeys standing by. He walked over to them with no confidence in anything positive coming out of this.

"Sergeant, we're all ready to go." Austin said. Johnson nodded and excused himself from Nonna's company to get himself ready. Nonna looked at Austin linger and, as reading his mind, knew he wanted to talk to her.

"Laskey, Shinso get ready to move out." Nonna said. Her two men nodded before moving to one Humvee each. Nonna and Austin stayed there more a minute in awkward silence waiting for one of them to speak. Finally, with a sigh, Austin spoke first.

"I'm glad to see you Nonna. Its been some time." Austin said. Nonna raised an eyebrow at his words. What was he saying? He made it sound like the two of them were friends that just happened to run into each other after not seeing each other for years.

"What do you really want to say Austin?" Nonna asked sternly. Austin sighed again.

"Are you still that mad at me? I didn't realize that this would've been that big of an issue for you." Austin said. Nonna glared at him, obviously unhappy with his words.

"If that's all you have to say then you obviously need to think about it more. Now get into the truck Corporal Mayes." Nonna said eyeing him. Austin sighed before straightening and giving a halfhearted salute.

"Right away Lieutenant Mayes." He said as he moved back to the Humvee, Nonna following him a few feet back. As Austin got into the drivers seat Mark cast a sideways glance to him from the passenger seat. Austin shook his head to which Mark responded with a roll of the eyes.

"Sergeant, load up. Its time we move out." Nonna told Sergeant Johnson.

"Yes Ma'am. Alright boys load up, we're moving out." Johnson called to the rest of his men by the second Humvee. All the while Mark rolled down his window and addressed Nonna as she passed by.

"Permission to speak freely ma'am?" He asked. Nonna stopped walking and looked at him.

"Granted." Was all she said. Mark smiled and gave a polite greeting.

"Good to see you again Nonna." He said. Nonna's eyes widened for a second before she let out a giggle and recuperate the greeting.

"Good to see you to Mark. Buckle up, we're leaving in a minute." Nonna instructed.

"You got it." Mark said rolling up the window again before glancing at Austin, who had a raised eyebrow and confused look on his face. "What? Just cause you two are on bad terms doesn't mean I have to be."

This time it was Austin who rolled his eyes as he started up the Humvee and prepared to drive. Once everyone was in, Johnson behind Austin, Nonna in the middle, and one of her lackeys behind Mark, did Austin begin driving.

Nonna took out a folder stuffed with several papers and flipped through them while her subordinate, Laskey if Austin remembered, took out a radio and set it in the Humvee, connected to the other truck.

"I assume your Sergeant briefed you on the mission Corporal Manson?" Nonna asked.

"Only the need-to-know bits Ma'am." Mark answered. Nonna nodded and continued her assessment.

"Listen up. Our target is the local Peruvian Separatists cell operating in this region. The Peruvian Government has given us the intel needed to assess the heavy weapons and equipment that they have and intent to use on the Capital. Command believes that the Separatists are using the regions ruined temples as store houses for these weapons as there has been heavy activity by them." Nonna said.

"Pardon Lieutenant, but doesn't the Peruvian Government have military forces for this kind of thing? Why have us come in and sweep them up?" Mark asked.

"That has to do with who we believe is the leader of this cell. He's our main target. If we get him, not only will this cell collapse but it will cause a huge loss in both equipment and moral for the Separatists." Nonna responded.

"And who is this leader we're supposed to capture?" Johnson asked.

"He goes by the name of Kai Adachi." Nonna said. At the mention of the name both Austin and Mark stiffened, which didn't go unnoticed by Johnson.

"I take it there's some bad blood there ma'am?" he asked.

"Kai Adachi was hired by Renta Tsuji to aid in the dismantlement of American Tankery eight years ago. After the fighting ended and revelations came to fruition Kai fled the Island before any officials could detain him. After some time tracking his possible movements we learned he was here in Peru. This man is wanted by both America and Japan as well as Friend Island. It is vital that we capture him. Alive, but not unharmed." Nonna said. Johnson nodded at this answer but still noticed the heavy atmosphere between his two men upfront as well as the Lieutenant herself. Johnson was aware of the three's involvement in the game eight years ago, so whatever this Kai Adachi guy did must've been terrible.

"We'll take the eastern road and make our way north from there. Corporal Mayes once we hit the Temple ground you kill the engines. Copy?" Nonna asked.

"Copy Lieutenant." Austin said. As he drove Austin thought about this new predicament. Kai was here in Peru. This was news to him, but it would explain why Nonna was here. She wouldn't care for some Peruvian Separatists if it wasn't in someway connected to the Island Defense Force. She probably asked for this assignment if anything. But then why was he here. Every man in this squad came recommended by someone, so who recommended him and Mark? In any case, it was going to be a long drive.
