I've been having these weird thoughts, lately...
Like is any of this for real or not...?
Our story begins in the break of day. A land that dances under a cloudless blue sky, a crystalline blue ocean, and a shining sun. An island, a tranquil and relaxing world of bone-white sand. Resting on these sands...is a girl. An unconscious little girl with red hair and shining blue eyes.
"Hey...hey! Can you hear me...? Who are you?" A voice, the girl faintly hears...it was another child's voice by the sound of it. Slightly the girl, weakly opened her eyes...seeing a boy her age...a boy with brown spiky hair...and shining blue eyes, the same as hers.
"Where did you come from?" The boy asks.
"I...I... don't...remember..." The girl weakly says. The young boy only tilts his head in confusion. He begins to ask another question.
"Oh...well...do you have a name?" The boy asks.
"K-K-Kairi..." The girl says weakly.
"Kairi? That's a pretty good name! My name is..." The boy introduces.
Sora...
Our story begins in a pitch-black abyss. Not a single soul in line of sight. Not a single cloud, or a single sun. The only in this deep abyss is darkness. Save...for one figure.
Groggily, the boy opened his ocean blue eyes, only to find himself descending downward. Before he could even react, blissfully he felt the ground. A cold sensation emanates through his bright red jumpsuit and white vest.
I can see you now...Sora
A voice...chimed up...The boy known as Sora...could not however see the voice. He only looks down to see that he was now a bright stain-glass platform. On that platform, a painting of a woman with lips as red as the rose, hair as black as ebony, and skin as white as snow.
So much to do...so little time...take your time...don't be afraid.
Sora only looked around in awe at this place as the voice continued to talk to him. He does not recognize the voice at all. He simply looks forward...there's no other place to go...there's nothing but light...in the darkness.
The door is still shut. Now, step forward. Can you do it?
The boy simply did as the voice says and stepped forward to the middle of the platform. The moment he approached the center, the platform trembled.
Power sleeps within you, Sora. If you give it form...it will give you strength. Choose wisely.
A sword. Its blade shines a glistening silver hue, while the hilt and glows a majestic blue glow. A shining yellow gem gleams at the center of the hilt.
A blue staff with a green hilt, radiating with magical energy. The shaft is a circle with two smaller circles resting on top, forming two circular ears.
At last, a shield. The rim of the shield shimmers in sparkling gold, while there seems to be a blue interior, guarded by the big gold initials of WB.
The Power of the Warrior...invincible courage...a sword of terrible destruction...
The Power of the Mystic...inner strength...a staff of wonder and ruin...
The Power of the Guardian...kindness to aid friends...a shield to repel all...
Sora, ponders at the choices he sees before him. He decides to look at the sword...the boy always did enjoy sword fighting when he was young. This is his time to shine, and finally go into battle with the very weapon he dreams of...or to which...he believes this is all a dream...or is it?
The Power of the Warrior...is this the power you seek?
Sora nods.
Your path is set. The blade soon disappears in Sora's hand with a blinding beam of light. The boy pouts in disappointment. What's the point of picking if the weapon will only disappear in your hand? he thoughts. Soon...the voice spoke up as the remaining weapons still float blissfully on the stone pillars. Now...what will you give up in return?
Give up in return? To Sora, it's clear the voice means that he has to have two powers...but must give up one. In another dream, he dreams of being a wizard...powerful spellbinding mystics that sling powerful spells and curses in the storybooks.
He's always found such beings to be...interesting. Sora soon turned to the stone pillar with the shield. To give up defense, the boy chooses the be a wizard...and a warrior.
The Power of the Guardian...is this the power you wish to give up?
Sora nods.
You have chosen the Power of the Warrior...you wish to give up the Power of the Guardian. Once you make this choice...there is no returning. So be cautious...is this the path you truly seek?
Sora nods determinedly as the shield disappears in his hand as well.
Very well. Proceed, Sora.
Soon, taking the spiky-haired boy by surprise, the pillars suddenly begin to sink down back into the ground, forming cracks on the platform, making the boy look down in surprise and fear, as the platform begins to crack.
Taking the boy by surprise, the weight of the center began to release...and the boy soon fell through the platform, as he falls deeper and deeper within the darkness...with the light of the shards flying down blissfully with him.
Finally, after falling...falling once more, down to the endless abyss...Sora finally sees light below. Another glass stained platform...of another woman. This time, a painting of a blonde-haired woman with an elegant dress and glass slippers.
You've gained the power to fight.
Soon, Sora sighs in relief as, with a sparkle of light, the blade appears in his hand. In intrigue, he swings the blade around. It seems to be good in reach, and manageable to swing. Sora seems to be getting the hang of it already.
Alright, you've got it! Use this power to protect yourself and others. But be forewarned...
Suddenly, tilting his head in confusion, Sora soon turned around and noticed something squirming from the ground...a Shadow. Sora soon looked in surprise as the Shadow suddenly rose up from the ground...idling like a...creature...there's no other way to explain it. Its hypnotizing buggy antenna, and shining yellow eyes...the only light of the darkness.
There will be times you have to fight...keep your light burning strong.
Claws...though sealed in the blackness of the creature, Sora can easily tell how sharp they are. The creature was creeping forward with the claws drawn. But the monster wasn't alone...behind him a few more...say 3 more appeared behind the lone shadow. They soon crept...and crept...and crept...and then they leaped!
SLASH!
Quickly, Sora slashed down a Shadow as it leaped...and then another one, and then another shadow met with his mighty warrior blade. Only two Shadows remain. The moment Sora turned around...was the moment he met with the claws of a Shadow, but he quickly blocked the Shadow off with his blade, making them collide with a
CLANG!
As blade and claws only collided together...a tug of war for dominance as the shadow and the boy struggled. While the blade and claw were colliding, keeping the boy occupied, the second shadow crept behind the bow with his claws ready, glaring at the boy's bare leg.
However, before the Shadow could take a scratch...the boy pulled the Shadow away making the creature wide open for an attack. The boy took that opening and sliced the creature down in half, and quickly attacked the other Shadow while it's face-first on the ground.
The boy lowered his guard, and pants...catching his breath, placing his blade on the ground. However, what he doesn't know yet...is that the battle is far from over. No time to rest...not yet.
Behind you!
Sora widened his eyes as he quickly turned to see another Shadow creeping behind for an ambush. Before the Shadow could even react, Sora immediately slashed the creature with the cold steel of the blade. More kept spawning in its place.
Determined, Sora charged at the Shadows, and one by one slashed them down as quick as he could muster. Soon...as Sora noticed more of them spawning...they soon only sank down...leaving shadow puddles on the ground.
Soon, more and more shadow puddles began spawning around the platform until they soon formed in the middle, just below the spiky-haired boy's feet. Almost as if he was in quicksand, the boy began feeling himself slowly sinking down. The platforms spawning, and spawning until the platform is turning into all but black, as Sora only sank and sank...sinking down into the deepest darkness...as nothing but black clouded his eyesight.
Wiggling and wrangling, in fear...the boy snapped his eyes open after realizing that he can breathe again. Is he awake from this dream? No...not even close...not yet. He soon sat up and noticed that he was once again on another platform. Unlike the two platforms before, these portraits are merely silhouettes of three regal figures. Faces unknown.
The boy rose up from the ground and noticed something in front of him...a door. A shining mahogany door just in front of him. As curiosity took him, the boy walked to the door to open it, however, the moment he even placed his hand on the doorknob, the boy simply phased through it. The boy tilts his head in confusion.
The Door cannot open just yet...first...you must prepare yourself for the outside world...
Soon, appearing in bright light, Sora turned around to see a simple crate behind him. The boy only looks in confusion as his attention turns from the door now to the crate. With all his might, the boy slashed down the crate, creating a small hole within it. He reached in and shuffled around in search for something...he found something.
Savor this provision...there will be many in your journey...use them with caution...for they will serve a purpose...a purpose you will find out...soon. Proceed...
Soon, with a flash, Sora noticed a change to the door. Looking in confusion, the boy's attention went back to the door...this time, when he extends his hand...he felt a solid surface. With a CLICK! he opened the door.
The only thing the boy met with, when the door opened...was light. He can feel the light shine right on his face...warm...mesmerizing...breathtaking light. He stepped forward...stepped forward to the light.
As the boy's vision cleared, he heard the familiar sounds of crashing waves. He smelled the familiar scent of the tropical saltwater. He can see the familiar scene of a tranquil and serene island bathed upon a shining sun.
Yet something feels off.
As he walked amongst the hollow wood of the overseeing balcony, he took notice of three familiar figures surrounding him. He recognizes all three of them to be his friends.
A sandy-haired boy with clean green eyes. The boy was wearing a shirtless bright yellow vest, and jet-black jeans, with one uneven hole, and yellow sandals. The boy seems to be carrying some sort of...bright red stick. Sora knows this islander as…Tidus.
A red-haired boy who is no doubt older than Tidus. The boy has bright red hair, standing up, and half his head covered with a dark blue bandanna. The muscular 15-year-old was wearing a bright yellow t-shirt, and bright yellow baggy pants with x shaped insignia on the knees, and bright green sandals. The boy knows this teen as Wakka.
A brown-haired girl, the same age as Tidus. A brown-haired female with glimmering green eyes, carrying around a jump rope. Attire-wise, the girl was wearing a bright yellow knee-high dress, and brown sandals. The boy, of course, knows her as Selphie.
The sun shines down on all three of them, as the spiky-haired looks to see they were looking at him. Almost expectedly.
Hold on...the door won't open yet. First, tell me about yourself...Sora. The beings have questions for you...
Looking in confusion, the curious boy soon approached Selphie first...for her question. The brown-haired girl spoke up.
"What's most important to you?" The girl asks. Sora soon ponders this question for a bit, as he knows that there are many things important to him. However, if there's only one thing the boy cares the most about...the one thing that's most important to him...it's his friends. He has known them for such a long time and he holds them dear...taken away, he would be useless. Therefore...if there's one thing that's important to the boy...it's...
"Friendship." The boy answers in an assuring tone. The girl simply chuckles playfully as she only tilts her head.
"Is friendship really that big of a deal?" Selphie asks. Before Sora could answer her, with the light, the girl disappeared. The boy looked around and saw no trace of her...only the other two boys remaining. Shrugging it off, Sora soon approached Tidus.
"What are you MOST afraid of?" Tidus asks. Of course, just like the other set of choices, there are allot of things to be frightful about. Stereotypical fears like the fears of spiders and bats, to more...deep meaning fears like getting old...or death itself. But if there's one thing for the boy to be frightful of...there's one thing...
"Being different." Sora answers, being different could make an impact on you with your friends...for better or for worst. That is what fears the boy the most. Tidus only tilts his head in confusion.
"Is being different all THAT scary?" The sandy-haired boy asks. Before Sora could even answer that question, the other boy disappears just like Selphie, leaving Sora alone with Wakka. Giving out a sigh, the boy soon turns to Wakka, for most likely the last question that'll keep the boy thinking.
"What do you want out of life?" Wakka asks. This one...to Sora...was an easy question. For years he has been living on this island...and he wanted, somewhat a change from the routine he's most familiar with. He quickly answered Wakka's question without even giving it thought.
"To see rare sights." Sora answers. The bright-haired islander looked at the Spiky-haired boy skeptically.
"To see rare sight, huh?" Wakka asks. The bright-red-haired boy only nodded his head in approval, and understanding...as he soon disappeared in light, just like the other three. Sora was alone.
You want to see rare sights,
You are afraid of being different,
Friendship is most important to you.
The day you will open the door is both far...and very near. Be ready...for your journey here, is almost at an end...and a new one begins
The boy nods his head agreeing with the voice. He took out his sword...prepared for anything the voices wish to dish out. A bright light...soon takes over the boy's vision...a light as white as the daytime sun.
The light finally fades, showing the boy back into the familiar pitch-black skies. He looked below to see that he was standing on another stained-glass platform. Another royal Princess adorned in a regal gown. A maiden of sixteen, with hair of sunshine gold and lips red as the rose.
The very moment he approached the center of the platform, the shadows arose. He prepares for a battle.
With all his might, Sora slashed down at least half the shadows down with simply three slashes with his sword.
Many of them simply tried to leap at the boy, but that simply gave the boy an advantage to deliver an upper slash at them. While the boy was simply occupied with the stray Shadows attacking him, one of them finally gave the boy a scratch to the knee, making the boy retaliate quickly with a slash.
Soon...they were gone. All that's left was the boy...and a wound. The boy places his hand on the wound to stop the bleeding.
Step closer into the light...
Tilting his head in confusion, the boy soon steps forward to the center of the platform, where the lone light above shines down. He felt a tingling sensation, a... very warm sensation as the light hits him. An aura of light surrounds the boy. Soon...he looks down in confusion...noticing something.
He took his hand off the wound...or...what used to be the wound.
"Whoa..." The boy says in awe...seeing the wound completely gone from his skin.
The light will always covet you, Sora...blanket you...do not let your light burn away too soon. Light will always be your friend. However,
The voice soon stops as the light that once healed him, began to move away from the center of the platform...and to the edge, forming with a sprinkle of light, a wayward staircase...leading up to the stained-glass platform in the far distance.
A gold platform, showing the image of a beautiful brown-haired maiden adorned in a yellow dress. Behind her, a ferocious and hideous misshapen beast.
The closer you get to the light, the greater your shadow becomes
Soon, Sora turned around...and to his surprise...his own shadow...rises. Not only that, it was growing in size. Growing, growing into a beast even greater than anything he has faced. Like a beast.
But don't be afraid...
A shadow with dreads, long and wavy like tentacles, claws as sharp as sharp can be, piercing yellow eyes as mesmerizing as the eyes of the little blighters, feet pointed almost as if it's paper...and finally...a great big heart-shaped crater in the middle of the beast's chest.
And don't forget...
Oh, Sora was past afraid as he looked at the creature towering him. The boy tried to escape but immediately stopped himself when reaching the end of the platform. He had nowhere to run, he had nowhere to go. He had no other choice...but to fight.
It seems the best bet the boy had to direct his attack to the hands, being the only target in reach. The boy did as instincts told him and did just that. He slashed, and slashed with all of his might, basically flailing the sword around like crazy, in hope that the monster would concede quickly.
Unfortunately for the boy, the giant shadow began to slowly lift his hands out of reach for the boy, earning a stern pout from the spiky-haired boy. However, the boy's pout quickly turned into shock when the monster began to channel energy from its fist. The shadow hurled its fist down, and Sora quickly dodged, as the shadow slammed the ground with its fist with a great big.
THUD!
A puddle of darkness began forming around the giant shadow's fist, as smaller shadows began to spawn from the darkness. Giving advantages all around, Sora ran to the puddle of darkness, and began slashing as much as he can, basically flailing that sword like crazy. Shadow spawns are meeting with the blade, and blade slices are seen on the hand of the giant.
Soon, after defeating the Shadows all around, the monster rose its hand up once more. Sora soon took notice of the great heart-shaped hole beginning to glow. The spiky-haired boy got ready. Ready for ANYTHING. Soon...charging up, the shadow projected out a dark ball of energy at Sora. Then another...and another...and another!
The boy parried as fast as he could, taking down each bubble as fast as he can muster. Parrying and parrying as fast as he could; hoping for the best. The boy soon noticed that a few of the darkballs were flying in all sorts of directions throughout the platform. This gives the boy an idea of how to end this battle. He waits for another dark ball to produce.
Another dark ball is being produced...they take a while.
The boy, with all his might, swung the dark ball as if it was a baseball, sending it towards the monster. It was slow in movement, so there's no possibility of a dodge from the monster.
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
The monster hissed with a great garbled sound as the darkball made a blunt contact with the monster's face. It began to jerk around, and began to groggily slump down as a hand was coming the boy's way. In surprise, the weapon disappeared in the boy's hand.
Quickly Sora jumped out of the way, falling to the ground in the process as a clawed hand slammed to the ground. The shadow was lowering...lowering to Sora.
To make matters worse for the boy, a dark puddle formed just below him, making him sink...as he looked in fear as his shoes were now being covered by the dark puddle. He was sinking...like quicksand.
But don't be afraid...
The voice only echoed, but Sora did not hear that echo as the chaos around him only began to ensue. The monster with its piercing yellow eyes only lowered down slowly to the boy, as the boy only felt his hands and feet, sinking down...proving any movement futile.
You hold the mightiest weapon of all...
That mighty weapon was gone, Sora thought, he couldn't sheath his sword. The monster was closing in...as was the darkness. There was nothing Sora could do. Nowhere Sora could go.
So don't forget:
The darkness soon took to Sora's eyesight...the only thing that was left of the boy...the only trace of him left was his bright blue eyes...looking in terror. Could this be the end?
You are the one...who will open the door
