Entries from Andy's Diary:

Today was... difficult. I watched some of the kids make the choice to leave. To be stripped of their identity here and ushered out like prisoners. The breaking of the gladii felt final, a severed connection. There's a part of me that wishes them well, wishes them safety. But another part wonders if their decision might prove to be their downfall.

I still can't shake the sensation that they're being led into a trap. Is Petra really a haven? Or is it something more sinister? Vassilissa's emails make it sound like a fascinating place, reminiscent of tales of ancient Dwarf strongholds. It's an entertaining distraction, imagining Petra as an epic fantasy land with cavernous halls, sparkling gems embedded in the walls, and ancient treasures hidden in its depths. But it's just that, a distraction.

In the real world, the uncertainty is still palpable. Where does safety lie? With the L's and Carpatescu? With the Christians at Petra? Or somewhere entirely different?

It's a game of trust, and I'm not sure who's playing fairly.

I know today was tough, but let's imagine for a moment. Petra, a place where Dwarven lords and ladies walk tall and proud. Their beards glistening, echoing sounds of laughter and singing through the stone walls. Underground gardens, luminescent flowers, and vast libraries filled with books of ancient lore.

Do you think our friends will be greeted by these fantastical creatures? Or maybe they'll have to prove themselves in a series of challenges? I can't help but picture them being led down winding tunnels by little dwarf guides with lanterns. Who knows, maybe they'll find the ultimate treasure, peace.

It's silly, I know. But imagining all this helps. Even if just a bit.

Stay strong, V.

Won't they be really bored? Manna from heaven sounds yummy, but every day? At least we get some variety! And what are they going to do all day? Sunday School stuff? I think your version is a lot better than mine, even if it's less real...
