CHAPTER 2:

That evening, Stacie and Kyle met Kim's new boyfriend. Things seemed to be going well, and they were getting to know him. Stacie had some suspicions about Travis but didn't speak up about them at the dinner table. Instead, she spoke her mind later that night as Kim was about to go to bed,

"Why do you want me to break up with him?" Kim asked.

"Well, the thing is...I just think you could do better than him," Stacie explained.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Kim asked.

"I just don't want you to get hurt, that's all," Stacie said.

"Mom, it's my relationship, not yours. If I want a boyfriend, then it's my choice," Kim insisted.

Stacie sighed before getting to the point, "Okay, I didn't want to tell you this, but when Travis' father was picking him up earlier, I saw a pack of cigarettes in the backseat. And I could even smell that he smokes in his car."

"So? Just because Travis' dad smokes doesn't mean he does. Besides, Travis already told me his dad smokes, and I don't mind," Kim argued.

"Maybe so, but secondhand smoke is not a joke. Who knows what'll happen if Travis gets tempted to put a cigarette in his own mouth," Stacie fired back.

"I'm not worried. Besides, he's the first boyfriend I've ever had, and it's up to him and me to decide whether it's going to work out or not. It's not up to you," Kim said, putting her foot down.
"Kim, this isn't a discussion; break up with him tomorrow, or you're grounded!" Stacie ordered before exiting her stepdaughter's bedroom.

After Stacie left the room, Kim was really angry about her mother's ultimatum. And Stacie certainly could have been a bit nicer about it. Kim started to think maybe Stacie was trying to sabotage Kim's first Valentine's Day as a couple. And if that was the case, Kim was bound and determined not to let that happen.

Meanwhile, back in Providence, Esther started to have contractions around 11:30 p.m. Donald was already asleep, so she had to wake him up. Once her husband was awake, he got dressed and quickly helped Esther to his car. Although they tried to move quickly, they wanted to make sure they didn't wake up Flo and Unicycle on their way out. They arrived at the hospital about 15 minutes later.

By 3 a.m., Esther said a prayer to herself as she felt the baby crowning, and four minutes later, the baby was finally born. Once the nurses handed the baby to Esther, she and Donald took a family photo with their newborn and then texted it to the Bellas. The text read, "It's a girl! Violet Elise Stone graced us with her presence on February 13th, 2027!"
