Moonkit bounced excitedly, her bright blue eyes wide in awe as she craned her neck to see farther ahead at the many cats going about their day.

Her ears twitched in slight announce as a fly buzzed passed her. She really hated those things.

"Hey, Moonkit!" the silver she-kit spun around, her plump, feather-like tail flicking behind her as she turned her head to face the cat that had called out to her.

"Come over here, father wants to get us ready for our apprentice ceremony." Flare kit squeezed, ghee fiery-colored pelt glowing in the light from the rising sun, making her pelt look as if it were on fire.

"Okay okay! I'm coming, just chill out a bit, will you, Flare." Moonkit grumbled under her breath as she scurried over to join her littermates.

Just as Moonkit had joined her littermates, a black and white tomcat pushed his way through the nursery entered.

"Dad!" all four kittens cried out in glee, dashing over and practically knocking Olivebranch off of his paws.

Olivebranch chuckled lightly and smiled up at his kits from his place on the mossy ground.

"I'm glad to see you too. But can you please get off of me so I can get up?" he twitched his whisker and shook out his pelt once he was standing again.

"What are you doing here?" Spottedkit asked, her chocolate-brown eyes wide as she stared up at her father.

One of her sisters, Shadowkit, rolled her eyes and laughed quietly while nudged her sister playfully in the side with her forepaws.

"Sheesh Spottedkit! Give him a chance to catch his breath will yea!"

Flarekit blues Shadowkit a raspberry and cuffed the little black she-kit over the head with a paw. "Don't be so mean! You're just as eager to become an apprentice as the rest of us are!"

Moonkit just watched them with a glint of amusement shining in her eyes. Her fur was already groomed - her silver fur gleaming lije it was pained by Starpelt themselves, and her blue eyes shined with shade of sky blue to sapphire and even a hint of navy.

She sat there and patiently waited for her littermates, watching with a fond smile as Flarekit batted their father's paws away from her with a small huff.

"I already did it myself," she protested, backing away and giving her forepaw one last quick lick before patting over to join her littermates near the nursery entrance.

"Come on! Come on! Come on!" Shadowkit cried, bounce eagerly from paw to paw, her green eyes gleaming with anticipation. "Let's get going already!"

Flarekit padded towards a puddle left by the recent rainfall, Moonkit beside her. They both critically judged their own reflections.

Flarekit saw herself differently. She never really had time to look into puddles, and most of the time there weren't any to look in. She was a little shocked at what she saw.

She and her sister looked almost identical in body shape, small paws, long, plumy tails, symmetric ears. Their pelts and eyes were the only differences they had.

Flarekit tilted her head from side to side, admiring her fading green orbs. They had every color of the forest, from dark olive green to bright leaf green. They blended with her flame-colored pelt adorned with streaks of sunny gold.

Flarekit looked over at her sister's reflection in the water, curious to see how Olivebranch's grooming had transformed her littermate. Moonkit held in a gasp. Moonkit looked stunning. Her pale silver pelt glowed in the morning light and her blue eyes sparkled, containing every shade of the sky. She looked like a small moon.

Flarekit's admiring was interrupted by a loud yowl. "All cats old enough to race the breeze, gather beneath the Leafstone for a MeadowClan meeting!"

Moonkit and Flarekit turned to each other with equal looks of excitement bloodying on third face as the two she-kits turned to face their two other littermates.

Flarekit, Shadowkit, and Spottedkit flanked her as Moonkit marched towards the Leafstone.

As the four kits stepped up to sit at the base of the Leafstone, Moonkit looked up to face Foxstar. Blue met amber and the silver-furred she-kit smiled as Foxstar turned her gaze upon rher Clan.

Noble cats of BreezeClan! We gather here today for one of our most important announcements. The making of new apprentices!" Foxstar yowled.

Foxstar looked down at her four kits and pride filled her chest as they returned her gaze with their own expecting ones.

"Moonkit, Shadowkit, Flarekit, and Spottedkit, please step up to the Leafstone." She mewed.

Flarekit was the first one to reach the top, with Moonkit right behind her, and Shadowkit and Spottedkit right behind her.

Foxstar glanced down at the impatient Flarekit. She smiled at her large leaf-green eyes, which were widened in both nervousness and excitement.

"Flarekit, do you promise to listen to your mentor and uphold the warrior code?" she asked her, her voice steady and calm.

"Yes," she mewed, her fur fluffed up in anticipation. Foxstar smiled.

"Then, until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Flarepaw. Spottedbrook will be your mentor." She meowed, smiling softly as the brown and white tortoiseshell she-cat stepped up to the base of the Leafstone and touched noses with her new apprentice.

"I promise to train Flarepaw to my best abilities," she meowed seriously.

Suddenly, a wave of nervousness shivered over Moonkit. She was next in line! Please don't let me mess up! she thought, both praying and pleading to StarClan.

"Moonkit, do you promise to listen to your mentor and uphold the warrior code?" she repeated. Moonkit nodded.

"Yes." Foxstar then spoke the words, just as Moonkit had dreamed of.

"Then, until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Moonpaw. Silkshade will be your mentor." Foxstar mewed proudly.
