Only One

Chapter 7

Days Later

I loved him. I was in love with him. He had been my entire world since we were 16 years old.

We had been through alot together. Losing Keith. Losing Karen. Lilly had survived the traumatic birth but didn't live in Tree Hill.

When it came down to it. Lucas had grown and attached himself fully to this life we built and the lack of change within it.

Our kids were growing and evolving and he had a hard time with that too. But he dealt with it.

But within our relationship and our dynamic. We had stayed the same.

Just gotten older and more stable in our careers.

I on the other hand welcomed and embraced change.

We both grew up with a lack of family stability. Yes marriage didn't guarantee alot.

But it said something to the world most important it was a celebration of the love and commitment that had brought the couple to that day.

And maybe I needed more then just what we had grown used too. Brooke thought to herself. As she drove home from the store.

...

(Momma I used you.) Dawn announced. As she came in from upstairs in one of her dresses from her dress up trunk.

Brooke smiled warmly and embraced her daughter into a hug.

(I missed you too. Change out of this and let me double check you're homework.) Brooke replied.

(How was the store momma?) Paul asked.

As Brooke entered the living room. To find him with his sketch pad and colored pencils.

As she had done herself countless times.

(It was busy and my regular customers stopped by.)

(You know someone else besides us should see these drawings.) Brooke suggested.

(No that's okay. This is just for me.) Paul replied.

...

Later on that night

(I ran into someone from my past. I didn't even recognize him.)

(But he knew me. It was weird but he's a successful person. He makes movies.)

(And wants to work with me. You know create a wardrobe for his newest film.)

(It would be fun to have a side project like that.) Brooke mentioned.

(You should do it if you have the time. You seem really interested in it.) Lucas replied.
