It's finally time for a revamp of the Multiversal Steel Ball Run! As you all know since you have clicked into this story, Steel Ball Run, also known as the seventh part of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, involves a transcontinental race of the same name across the entirety of the United States of America on horseback. And in this fic, characters from multiple media, some popular but most pretty obscure, will compete in similar fashion in 1890s America in a new dimension. What will unfold? Read it!
Note: If you are confused about the kind of characters I have placed in this competition, I had to set some boundaries due to power differences and significant advantages in terms of travel speed. And plus I have seen a lot of obscure stories and lesser known games, so bear with me.
The sand on the beach shakes off a certain stone structure due to unknown tremors. Said stone structure rises up to reveal itself to be a large arch in the form of a door frame. Suddenly, a gold flash of light appears in front of the arch.
"Welcome dear viewer." A voice emanated from the light. "I'd like to be known as the Golden Voice, and it is now time for a competition like no other. We are currently in an almost exact replica of 1890s America. On the west coast of San Diego Beach."
"In a moment, I will send 50 people from across the multiverse into this world that's under my control. I am going to be the host and moderator for this competition, as I am a reality bender that can form this dimension to my will." The Golden Voice continues. "This portal will send the competitors into this world, and they all have an incredible thing at stake. What happens next? Just wait."
The portal lights up, and three walk out of it onto the sandy beach. The figures were seen as Gwen, Owen and Izzy. Known as three of the original contestants in the Canadian TV show Total Drama, these three are some of the most memorable of the bunch. Gwen is a loner with a relatively soft heart, Owen is a lovable big guy that wears his eating habits on his arm and Izzy is psychotic. Well meaning, but psychotic.
"Like, what kind of idiot would actually audition into that show again?" Gwen was in the middle of a conversation with the two. "There seemed to be a lot of health violations in the tables alone. Is there anyone, anyone at all inspecting the quality of the food you were speed-eating?"
"Beats me. But I would've preferred if they had more variety in their seasonings." Owen states. "But I loved the steak. Especially since it's medium rare."
"Medium rare? Owen, that steak was probably still trying to get grass while you were eating it." Izzy comments while riding Owen's back. "Ooh, maybe we can cook some fishies to see the difference."
"Huh?" The two then took notice of their surroundings.
The three were confused about the fact that they were at a random beach. Well, Gwen and Owen were confused and concerned while Izzy was thinking of crafting a harpoon for spearfishing. They also took notice of the Golden Voice situated in front of them.
"Welcome, Gwen, Owen and Izzy." The Golden Voice greeted the arrivals. "May you sit down and wait for the rest?"
"Ugh…" Owen paused, seemingly mesmerised by the light.
"Um… who are you? What are you?" Gwen asked.
"That will be explained in due time, dear. We must wait for the rest to appear." The Golden Voice explains.
"Um… who else?" Owen asked.
The portal spits out someone else, with them skidding through the sand after a sandwich on a plate. This was Inspector Gadget, a cybernetic agent of the police force. Despite being one of the most bumbling and dimwitted workers in the agency, his hijinks gets him into somewhat better situations.
"No! My Clubhouse Sandwich! It's gotten sandy!" Inspector Gadget mourns the messiness of his sandwich.
Two more people barge through the portal in the middle of a battle. These were Penny and Talon. Penny is the presumed niece of Inspector Gadget and is a great overachieving agent while Talon is the nephew of a villain named Dr Claw and is pretty egotistical and idiotic when it comes to common sense.
"Have you lost your aim the last time we saw each other?!" Penny taunted the guy.
"Once one shot lands, the rest is a piece of cake. Now hold still!" Talon aims his blaster device.
Talon pulls the trigger on his blaster that shoots out bubblegum. Penny dodges this with ease, but that doesn't stop it from hitting Gwen's arm, sticking her to Owen.
"What the?!" Gwen exclaimed.
"Ooh, bubblegum!" Izzy exclaimed.
"Okay, can you two stop the fighting for a second?" Owen called the two out.
"Huh? Great, you shot a civilian." Penny groaned.
"Eh, it's fine. The focus is on this battle." Talon tries to continue the fight.
The portal then spits out more people that spill out in a scuffle. It was 5 of the kids from the Colorado town South Park; Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Eric Cartman, Kenny McCormick and Wendy Testaburger. Despite living in a secluded town up the Colorado mountains, the first four are often involved in wacky and often bizarre adventures. Stan and Kyle are the level-headed ones, Cartman is an idiotic and selfish narcissist, Kenny dies a lot and Wendy is thoughtful but headstrong.
"Give me back my phone, fatass!" Wendy was currently trying to grab something from Cartman's hand.
"No way! I am going to delete that video of you and Heidi dancing so it won't ever see the light of day again!" Cartman was reluctant to give her.
"Dude, they were only Irish step dancing! What's wrong with that?!" Stan tried to seperate them.
"The Irish step dancing is evil in disguise! And I'm gonna remove all traces of it from America!" Cartman yelled.
"You're evil in disguise, you idiot!" Wendy yelled.
"Um, where are we?" Kenny was the first one to notice the surroundings.
"Huh." Kyle also took notice.
As the rest of the kids take in the surroundings, Cartman throws Wendy's phone into the sand in front of the portal, and pulls out a flamethrower from out of nowhere and points it at the phone.
"Time to rid this filth from this world." Cartman states.
"Wait?! Where did he even get that?!" Owen exclaimed.
Cartman pulls the trigger and unleashes a blast of flames that unknowingly makes its way to the portal. Just then, three people exit the portal facing the wall of flames; Katara, Toph and Zuko, the friends of the Avatar: The Last Airbender. They were the ones who saved the world from destruction by the Fire Lord. Katara is a kind and spirited fighter that controls water, Toph is a brash and headstrong warrior that bends the earth around her, and Zuko is a hot-headed and skilled fighter that blasts fire from his fingertips.
"What the?!" Katara exclaimed.
As Katara and Toph brace for impact, Zuko begins to absorb the flames blasted upon them into his arm. As Cartman stopped blasting, all the fire that had been released had been absorbed into Zuko's arm. He then releases them again up into the sky, shocking almost everyone around him.
"Whoa-ho! Flashy!" Izzy exclaimed.
"Okay, who did that?" Zuko asked calmly.
Cartman silently throws the flamethrower to Kyle and moves backwards.
"Ahem, Kyle, ahem." Cartman lets out an accusation between throat clearings.
"Hey!" Kyle yelled.
"Um, quick question." Penny approaches the bender group. "How did you do that?!"
"Yeah. What you did there was impossible." Gwen says.
"Isn't he obvious? He's a firebender." Toph retorts.
"A what-now?" Izzy asked.
"Hold on. You guys don't know about bending abilities?" Katara asked. "What tribe are you from?"
"Tribe? I'll tell you what tribe I am. The United States of America!" Cartman yelled out.
"Shut up, Cartman. We don't know these people, and we certainly don't want to provoke them." Stan states.
"Guys. Can we just calm down for a while?" Gwen requested. "In a while, more people will come through that portal. We should steer clear of any more conflicts until everyone is here."
"And what are we even doing here exactly?" Zuko asked.
"We still have no idea. But I do know more people will come right about…" Gwen then pauses as she estimates the time. "...now."
Just as she says this, a grapple hook shoots out of the portal and grabs Owen by the shirt. It then began to pull him towards the portal.
"Whoa! What the?!" Owen yelped.
"Gah!" Gwen was pulled as well due to the bubblegum.
"Owen!" Izzy yelled.
"On it!" Toph jumped into the scene.
Toph stomps the ground, and a barrier of earth shot out to stop the movement of the two encased in the gum.
"Whoo! Thanks!" Owen states.
"Ugh, might I ask why you think it's practical for you to shoot bubblegum from your blaster?" Gwen turned to Talon in confusion.
"What's fighting without messing with your opponent?" Talon states.
The grapple stayed tight until two figures were thrown out. It was the thief in the scarlet cloak and fedora Carmen Sandiego and ACME agent Chase Devineaux. Carmen is a Robin Hood-esque super thief that steals artifacts before the thieves of VILE steal it first. Chase used to be someone tracking down Carmen thinking she was a standard criminal, but ultimately worked with her to stop a greater threat.
"Whoo! That was close." Carmen landed gracefully. "How about you, Chase?"
"Eh, fine. If you consider a sprained pelvis fine." Chase says as he rubbed an injured spot. "Eh… why does it feel warmer?"
"Okay, this might seem sudden, but we need to wait for more people to go through that portal." Gwen states. "We were brought here for some reason and I have a feeling we won't get out here easily."
Five more people walk out of the portal, and looked at the people around them with confidence. These were Paul Phoenix, Marshall Law, Ling Xiaoyu, Asuka Kazama and Emilie "Lili" De Rochefort. These five are martial artists and competitors of The King of Iron Fist Tournament, or Tekken. These well known fighters compete in a tournament of martial arts to test their meddle. Paul is an American powerhouse, Law is reminiscent of Bruce Lee, Xiaoyu is naive and known for her evasion, Asuka is a brawling peacemaker and Lili is a cocky heiress of the De Rochefort family.
"Huh, isn't this a spectacle." Lili took in the sight of where they were.
"Is this where the new tournament will take place?" Law asked.
"Tournament? Do you know what we're here for?" Wendy asked.
"Huh. We must've taken a wrong turn." Asuka states. "I wonder how we got here."
Suddenly, six more people burst out of the portal in the middle of a gunfight. These were Mirage, Octane, Caustic, Rampart, Loba and Wattson, a few of the Apex Legends, competitors of a sci-fi bloodsport called the Apex Games. Mirage is a trickster that uses holograms, Octane is a daredevil, Caustic is a sociopathic toxicologist, Rampart is a weapons mod, Loba is a thief and Wattson is an electrical engineer.
The sudden burst of gunfire that blew through the ears of all involved caused them to duck down in pain.
"Oh! Whoa!" Xiaoyu immediately took a step back.
"What is going on?!" Paul yelled out.
"Stand back!" Toph yelled.
Toph stomped her foot onto the ground, and immediately, multiple pillars of sandstone shot out of the ground, and trapped the six newcomers from the Apex Games. The dust that had exuded from this ordeal was exceedingle overwhelming for everyone involved
"Gah! Whoa! What slowed me down?!" Octane exclaimed in surprise.
"Did the sand shoot up? This is peculiar." Caustic commented.
"Where are we anyway? I thought we were at Olympus." Rampart was just as confused as the others.
"And what was that?!" Asuka yelled out to the six. "Were you seriously trying to kill each other with firearms?!"
"Oh, ahem. We are competitors in the Apex Games. Unless you've been living under a rock, we've got a lot of explaining to do." Mirage states.
"Who are you guys anyway?" Talon asked.
"Okay! Can we all just calm down now?!" Cartman yelled out.
Everyone then turned to the fat kid in confusion. Cartman then cleared his throat and began to speak.
"May I just suggest a theory?" Cartman asked.
"What is it, fatass?" Kyle narrowed his eyes in suspicion.
"Now I have reason to believe we all come from backgrounds. Maybe worlds for that matter." Cartman explains. "Look at Scar-Eye and Blind Girl over there. I'm pretty fucking sure the rest of you can't control elements like them."
"Okay, first of all, what a foulmouth." Penny commented. "Second of all, I get your point. They mentioned the concept of bending the elements. Do any of you have something like that where you're from?"
"Um, we have something like that. But I'm pretty sure there is some special equipment to do so." Wattson states.
"Okay, you guys." Penny then turned to the benders. "Do you guys have any tech for your… bending?"
"Of course not." Toph states. "I mean, there are some items to enhance it, but most of the time, you're just born with it."
"Yeah. And that proves my point." Cartman states. "If you dumbasses haven't figured out yet-"
"Let me guess, we all come from different universes? Is that what you're implying?" Kenny interrupted. "Saw it from a mile away."
"Wha- Gah! You stole my thunder." Cartman grumbled.
"And it appears you guys are smarter than it seems." The Golden Voice appeared within their midst. "Sorry for the inconvenience though."
The sudden appearance of the Golden Voice caught everyone off guard. But one thing's for sure, they were mesmerised by the light.
"Whoa! A Yellow Light!" Inspector Gadget exclaimed in awe.
"I guess you can call me that." The Golden Voice commented.
"But why are we here exactly? Why did you bring people from different universes together?" Chase asked.
"Yeah. Sounds kinda useless, you know?" Talon raised an eyebrow.
"Of course, something as grand as this doesn't come without an explanation." The Golden Voice stated. "I have selected fifty special people for this grand event."
"Ha! He called me special!" Cartman exclaimed. "Take that, Kyle!"
"He's not just talking about you, fatass." Kyle retorted.
"Hold on, fifty?" Mirage asked. "But there's around like… twenty-seven people here."
"That's because we haven't waited for everyone else to arrive yet." The Golden Voice answered. "Twenty-three more to go. Let's see who else."
As everyone manages to calm down, and Toph releases the Apex Legends from the sandstone structures, four people walk out of the portal. These were MacArthur and Josee, competitors of the spin-off of Total Drama, The Ridonculous Race, and Priya and Millie, competitors of the newest Total Drama season. Two worst rivals and two best friends join the squad as people Gwen, Owen and Izzy recognise. MacArthur is a high-tempered police cadet, Josee is an ultra-competitive Ice Dancer, Priya is a compassionate overachiever and Millie is an analytical college student.
"Huh, what is this place?" MacArthur took notice of the surroundings.
"What the?! What are you doing here?!" Josee jumped back upon seeing her rival.
"Ah, crap." MacArthur then rolled her eyes at this.
"Um… what?" Millie asked. "What are we doing here?"
"Is this the San Diego Beach? How did we get here?" Priya asked.
"Oh! Crap! These guys were dragged in as well?!" Owen exclaimed in recognising the four.
"Guys! Over here!" Izzy waved out.
"Huh? Is that… Izzy?!" Priya exclaimed.
"It… it is! And there's Owen and Gwen too!" Millie recognised the group.
As the two run up to the previous competitors, MacArthur and Josee followed suit, eyeing each other with hatred.
"MacArthur, Josee, Priya and Millie! These four, along with Gwen, Owen and Izzy, are competitors of a grueling reality TV show! Total Drama!" The Golden Voice exclaimed theatrically.
"Wow! I didn't think we'd be together with the competitors of the original Total Drama!" Priya excitedly yelped.
"Hey! Where's the love for the Ridonculous Race?!" Josee asked in annoyance.
"Hah! Like you deserve it." MacArthur took another jab.
"Um, sorry to burst your bubbles." Gwen politely interrupted the four. "But there seems to be a reason many of us are brought together. Do you recognise any of these guys?"
"No, now that I think about it." Millie exclaimed. "I only recognise the seven of us here."
"Yeah. That golden light also seemed to speak with theatricalities. Is this gonna be another competition?" Priya asked.
"I guess so. Let's wait for more competitors to go through that portal." Gwen explains.
Three more people were seen walking out of the portal. These were Lynn Loud, Clyde McBride and Ronnie Anne Santiago. Young teens part of the Royal Woods community, where the Loud House is situated. Lynn is a competitive jockey, Clyde is a meek nerd and Ronnie Anne is headstrong.
"Whoa! Is there even a beach in this neighborhood?!" Lynn exclaimed as the sand got into her shoes
"There's so many people here." Ronnie Anne exclaimed.
"Where are we anyway?" Clyde asked.
"Welcome, Lynn, Clyde and Ronnie Anne." The Golden Voice greeted the three.
"Um… hi?" Clyde greeted, but not without confusion.
"May you stand aside for the rest to come? You are blocking the way of the portal." The Golden Voice pleaded.
"Wait, is that a real portal?!" Clyde exclaimed.
"Just move!" Cartman yelled out.
With some skeptisism, the three moved to the side for the next group, which was a group of three from the city of Quahog. There was Peter Griffin, the father and resident Family Guy of the Griffin family, Meg Griffin, the daughter and hated child of Peter, and Joe Swanson, a close friend of Peter. These three, often with the rest of the Griffin family and friends, go on wild and often bizarre adventure. Peter is also a narcissistic idiot, Meg is resentful but mostly kind, and Joe is a usually level-headed and chill paraplegic.
"Aw, crud. They've begun renovations on the entire dock." Peter groans in disappointment.
"Um, Dad? I don't think this is the dock." Meg said.
"Yeah, Peter. I don't think this is Quahog anymore." Joe stated.
"Well, this is like the time I got that dreamcatcher from a goatee man in an alleyway." Peter stated.
"Welcome, Peter and Meg Griffin, and Joe Swanson." The Golden Voice greeted.
"Whoa! Is this a competition of sorts?!" Meg quickly discerned the situation. "I wonder what's gonna happen?"
"Yeah. There's a lot of people here." Joe commented. "We should probably stand aside."
"And what's so special about these three?! There's even a cripple in that group!" Cartman began to laugh, specifically at Joe.
"Shut up, Cartman!" Kyle yelled.
"What's he gonna win?! Best Wheelchair Gears?! Ha!" Cartman continued to laugh.
Just before anyone else could react to this disrespect, the next person jumps out of the portal. This was Aloy, a famous machine huntress and the genetic clone of the person who has overseen a project to stop extinction on the Horizon; Zero Dawn. She was an outcast in a post-apocalyptic world, who steps up to save the world from extinction, twice, because of her genetic blueprint. Aloy is extraordinarily brave and compassionate, but often blunt in social interactions.
Aloy backflips out of the portal, dodging a purple plasma blast that grazes the skin of her chin. The blast flies by her and grazes Cartman by his ear.
"Whoa! I was just teasing!" Cartman exclaimed.
"What the?! Where am I?!" Aloy exclaimed.
"Welcome, Aloy despite the Nora." The Golden Voice greeted the huntress. "It appears you were in the middle of a battle."
"Yeah. I was." Aloy says. "Got any reason why you've brought me here?"
"Just stand by. You aren't the last to come." Josee rolled her eyes.
"Hmph. Alright then." Aloy skeptically accepts.
Aloy stood aside as the next two people exited the portal. These were Heavy and Scout, their code names of course, because they are a part of the Team Fortress 2. These two hired mercenaries are part of a 9-man band that were hired to reclaim land. Heavy is a hearty Russian that loves his companions and Scout is teasing and annoying in battle due to his speed.
"Come on, big doofus! We gotta move!" Scout tried to hurry up his friend as he sped through the beach.
"Scout! We're not in battle anymore!" Heavy immediately notices the shift in surroundings.
Scout then crashes into Gwen and Owen, who were still stuck in the bubblegum. And it appears Owen was getting nauseous.
"Man, I think it will take a while before we get unstuck. Eating the bubblegum is taking a toll on my stomach acid." Owen queasily states.
"You were eating the what now?" Gwen got confused as she didn't notice this happening.
"Oh, man!" Scout tried to pull himself away from the gum.
"Welcome Scout and Heavy! The mercs are now here!" The Golden Voice introduced.
"Um… what the hell are you?" Scout asked.
"And then he's gonna say 'that will be answered in due time'." Cartman rolled his eyes in knowing the pattern already.
"It appears people are getting bored." The Golden Voice noticed this comment. "In that case, the rest of the competitors absent will be sent at once."
The portal flashes once more, and ten people emerge from it. As they wonder what's going on, the portal behind them shuts down, and the arch that was left began to crumble into dust.
"Ah shit! The portal!" Kyle exclaimed.
"Callum and Rayla, the elf and human duo that brought The Dragon Prince to its rightful home. Ranger Dana Tabes, righteous and just forest ranger, friends to all animals and three particular We Bare Bears. Lucy, Felonius Gru and Vector, two of which are AVL agents and one villain who brings out the Despicable Me. Marinette, the Miraculous Ladybug, vigilante of the city of Paris. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, evil scientist and brother of the mayor of Danville where Phineas and Ferb. And Jim Lake the Trollhunter, and Steve Palchuk, his classmate, former bully and now ally." The Golden Voice introduces everyone who has just arrived at the beach. "All ten of you, as well as the forty other people here have been chosen for this grand event that transcends time and space. Welcome one and all to…"
The Golden Voice then does a pause for dramatic effect, and everyone around him quietly anticipated the announcement that would shed light on their situation.
"...the Multiversal Steel Ball Run!" The Golden Voice ended the announcement as many fireworks appeared to the side.
