Sydneys POV
I woke up to a persistent knock on the door.
A quick look at Adrian indicated, that he wouldn't get up. He even pulled the blanket over his head.
I sighed.
Wait till we are at court he had said. We will have peace and quiet he had said. Things will be more relaxed.
Sure, yesterday had been amazing, yet I couldn't help but feel annoyed by the constant knocking on our door. Especially after… a quick glanze at the alarm next to my side of the bed indicated that it was 7 am… 3 hours of sleep… I sighed again. This was exhausting.
"Who is it?" I asked, the door handle already in my hand.
"Rose" the person on the other side of the door replied.
Really? Did she ever sleep?
I opened the door and she gave me a warm smile.
"Did I wake you?" she then asked.
"I was sure you and Adrian would still be awake and…" she stopped midsentence.
"Never mind. Non of my business. Were you already sleeping?" she asked again.
"Already?" I asked. "It's 7 in the morning Rose" I said putting my hair in a ponytail.
"Ooohh you were on a hunan schedule. I'm sorry. I didn't think" she went on and all I could do is nodd. I was still feeling a bit groggy.
"I would let you get back to sleep, but since it in fact is early in the morning on your schedule I thought the earlier we get all of this going, the better" she went on.
I once again nodded and opened the door a bit further and without hesitation she entered our room.
People could say a lot of things about me, but procrastinating wasn't an attribute I would describe myself with and therefor she was right. It was about me after all. And since she was so eager to help, who was I to tell her I needed my beauty sleep.
"Good morning Adrian" she then said and he lifted the blanket from his head.
"Rose?" he asked with a confused look at me.
"In the flesh" she said with a smile, sitting down on my side of the bed.
After visiting the bathroom quickly, I crawled up on the bed again but sat up right. Adrian followed me and I handed him his shirt that had been discarded on the bathroom floor yesterday.
He pulled it over and we both watched her expectantly.
"Oh, I almost forgot" Rose then said, handing me a cup of coffe I hadn't even seen her holding up till now.
"We better get this party started" she said way too chirpy.
"Is it not the middle of the night?" Adrian finally found his voice and somehow I chuckled.
This situation was just too absurd.
I had just been woken up by my boyfriends ex girlfriend and she now basically shared a bed with us.
"It's 7 in the morning. I thought having Sydney as your girlfriend would automatically make you an early bird, too" she replied, ignoring my chuckling.
"What's so funny Sage?" Adrian asked ignoring Roses coment completely.
I shook my head "Nothing. Rose is right. Where do we start?" I asked.
Adrian made a big deal about yawning and streching and I playfully slapped him on the chest.
"Come on now. This is important" I said and he gave me a smile that warmed my heart.
"Yea, you're right. Nothing is more important than this. So what's up?" he asked looking at Rose.
"I already got in touch with Castile and he is going to call us back any minute now. School starts soon, so he wants to get your teacher on the line. I thought we might be able to get her here over the weekend" she ended.
I was impressed. While I had been asleep after getting naughty with my gorgeous boyfriend she really had been busy.
"What day is today?" Adrian asked.
"Wednesday" Rose and I said in unison.
He chuckled "Okidoki. Sounds like a plan" he said and got up.
"Where are you going?" I asked.
"Shower" he replied.
"We just showered before bed" I argued.
He gave me a smirk "Oh I remember" he said in a tone that wasn't lost on Rose.
"Pleaaaase" she said making a face.
Adrian shrugged her comment off and leaned down to kiss me quickly before he vanished into the bathroom leaving Rose and me in a moment of awkward silence.
"I am sorry. This is weird" I finally broke the silence.
"Weird doesn't even begin to describe this" she replied with what could only be described as a nervous laugh.
"He makes me happy" I then said and Rose whole demeanor changed.
Gone was the uncertain look in her eyes and the awkward stiff pose she had held from the moment she had sat on the bed.
The funny thing was I only noticed now how unnaturally she had been sitting before.
"I can see that" she said with a genuine smile.
"He is a good one" she went on and I nodded.
"This must be so strange for you. I mean you guys dated after all" I said, knowing perfectly well how delicate this topic was. This could hurt my feelings in an instant.
She thought about that for a moment
"It is… surprising, yes. But not because I used to date him" she then said and I tilted my head.
"I wanted things to work out with him. I really did. But not for the right reasons. Of course he is everything a woman would want. But to me… it was always Dimitri. No matter how hard I tried to make things work with him, my heart belonged to someone else. I was being very selfish and he didn't deserve that" she ended.
I took a sip if my coffee unsure what to actually say.
"Anyways. All of this is in the past" she then said.
"If it is not because of him and you dating, why is it strange to you?" I then asked.
She chuckled "Even you asking me this question is mind-boggling to me. When I first met you you couldn't even be in the same room as me. Let alone a Moroi" she said.
"He is just Adrian to me" I simply said.
„See, this is what I mean. You are so much stronger then I ever gave you credit for. This started in Palm Springs already, right?" she asked and I nodded.
"You were always that person who lived by rules and all of that and then suddenly you start to date the one person you shouldn't be dating and you don't care. I admire that about you. Honestly" she ended.
"I don't know what to say to that. Lost memory and all that" I said playing with the coffee in my hands.
She nodded "Right".
We stayed silent for a few more moments.
"I am happy for you guys. Both of you. You deserve to be happy and I can really see you are" she finished.
"I am" I said unable to suppress the huge grin that spread over my face.
"Hey Sydney" she then said and I snapped back to reality.
"You don't have to feel awkward about me, okay? Him and I… we never even had sex" she then said.
I rose an eyebrow. This was interesting and new information.
"So letting him drink your blood was the most intimate thing you did with him then?" I asked and instantly regretted my words.
"He told you about that?" she asked appalled.
I nodded, feeling the blush on my cheeks.
What was I doing? Was this not awkward enough already? Did I have to make it even worse?
"And you didn't freak out completely? Why would he even talk about that?" she asked in complete disbelief.
"It just came up" I said evasively.
She rose an eyebrow and studied me.
"It just came up?" she asked way to shrill.
Adrian came back to the room at this very moment and Rose shot him an angry look.
"What did I do?" he asked confused.
Rose shook her head "Nevermind" she said and he looked at me questioningly.
I shook my head and he was looking at Rose again.
"What did I miss here?" he asked.
"You told her you drank my blood Ivashkov?" Rose exclaimed.
He did a double take "This is what you guys have been talking about?" he then asked.
Rose nodded eagerly.
He brushed through his hair and looked at me. I looked bashfully down to my cup of coffee.
"It wasn't like I said hey funny story, remember I used to date Rose oh by the way she let me drink her blood" he defended himself.
Rose huffed "How could this ever come up in any conversation anyways? Especially with Sydney? What is wrong with you?" Rose asked.
„It just did" Adrian said shrugging.
Rose watched him with her mouth open.
She was about to say something when her phone rang.
"Hey Eddie" she said with one last angry look at Adrian.
"Yea I'm here with them… yes they are both fine" she said glancing up at me.
"Oh really?… uhum... Did you tell her we need her here at court? Okay that works."
She got up and walked torwards the window "Hold up, the receptio isn't the best here…"
I then felt Adrians eyes on me.
He shot me a questioning look and was mouthing „How did that come up?"
I shrugged but felt my cheeks blush.
I felt him studying me for a few more moments while I was intentionally very concentrated on Roses phonecall.
"So apparently it's almost summer break. It's crazy how time flies when things are getting crazy, isn't it?" she said putting her phone bak in her jeans.
"Anyways, your teacher will be able to come at the end of next week. Friday, latest Saturday. Of course we'll make arrangements to get her here and take it from there" Rose explained.
„That is great" I said „right, Adrian?" I asked looking at him.
„Right" he said still sounding a bit warily.
„Okay then" Rose said.
„I've had enough awkwardness for one morning. I'll let Lisaa know and I guess I'll see you guys" she said the door handle already in her hand.
When she closed the door behind her Adrian joined me on the bed again, a meaningful look on his face.
"She just wanted to be helpful and then somehow we ended up here" I tried to explain sheepishly.
He sighed "can we stop talking about Rose?" he asked brushing a strand of hair begind my ear.
"Gladly" I replied.
And I meant it. I was so done with this. He was with me and Rose was in the past.
He lay down on the bed again, pulling me with him so I was wrapped up in his arm.
"So Miss Sage. Did I not promise you some peace and quiet here at court?" he asked wiggling his eyebrows.
I laughed „Yea, all of this is so relaxing and not awkward at all" I replied.
He placed a kiss on my lips "please bear with me, okay?" he asked.
"You did nothing wrong" I whispered against his lips.
He shrugged "I strongly disagree. I have done a lot of things I shouldn't have. But none of them matter now. All that matters is this" he said pulling me on top of him, kissing me deeply.
I got lost in the feel of his hands that brushed down my spine and his lips on mine and completely forgot about Rose.
"So I guess we have more than a week to do a whole more of this" he said mischievously.
I chuckled "Well there are a few things I want to work on before Miss Terwilliger will be here" I replied.
„And we will, but for now, let me just get some more of this" he whispered into my ear before gently nibbling on it.
"Yes please" I replied in a sigh and we ended up entangled under the sheets a few minutes later, both of us missing a few clothing items.
