Trina entered Kelly's, looking for any sign of Luke Spencer. Today was the big day. It was Spencer's birthday party and the night Helena and Victor were to make their big move. Trina had hoped to feel more prepared than she actually did, but unfortunately, she didn't. She felt that she hadn't trained enough, that she didn't research enough, that she was on the verge of letting down the one person who had ever depended on her the most! Maybe Spencer was right yesterday. Maybe they should run away. Grab a car or jet and head for Vegas…
"There you are, sweetheart! I was expecting to see you here earlier than now," Luke came out from the back of the restaurant, his blue eyes studying her closely. "I hope that you have a foolproof plan to fight the Cassadines tonight."
"I do actually. Take Spencer, hop in a car, and head for Vegas, foiling Helena and Victor's plans," Trina simply stated, wanting to know if she had made a mistake by shooting the idea down.
Luke simply laughed. "You think that'll work? The Hellcat and the old bat would just snatch the boy before you even reach the city limits!"
"That's what I thought, which is why I had shot the idea down yesterday," Trina sighed, sliding onto one of the stools.
"So what's the plan?" Luke repeated his question.
"Attend the party with my trusty stake, never leave Spencer's side, and then dust Helena and Victor whenever they do appear. I'm not going to let them turn Spencer. There's no way in hell."
Luke frowned, looking closely at the young slayer. "Oh my god, you're in love with the kid."
"So what if I am? All slayers have someone to fight for. I'm fighting for him," Trina gave Luke a defiant glare, daring him to say something against Spencer. "He's a good person. He doesn't deserve any of this."
"Never said he did, sweetheart. I just hope that you don't end up with a broken heart," Luke gave a sad smile. "You're a good girl. If you can come out of this fight with a happily ever after, I'll be glad for ya."
Trina just smiled, grateful for Luke's words. "Thank you."
"Trina, there you are," Dawn burst into the restaurant. "I'm glad that I caught up with you! I happened to run into Angel at that gallery and he agreed to help you train for tonight!"
"Angel's still here?" Trina frowned.
"Yes he is and he's offering himself up as your punching bag. Trust me, take him up on it. He may be souled, but he's old and if you can beat him, you can easily beat Helena and Victor."
"Well, looks like you have a date fighting a vampire, sweetheart," Luke grinned.
"He's waiting at the gym now," Dawn grabbed Trina's hand and began dragging her to the exit. "See you, Luke!"
Luke just laughed and waved as the watcher and her slayer headed for Sonny's gym.
…..
Angel was indeed waiting for Trina in the gym, and so were Spencer and Dex. Dex of course was questioning Angel nonstop about the big fight he had heard about in LA, and Spencer stood in the far corner, just waiting for his slayer and her watcher to arrive. He had been in a weird mood all day, fully aware of what the night was to entail.
Trina's eyes immediately found Spencer as they entered the gym. She couldn't help the smile that appeared or her eyes happily lighting up as she headed for her boyfriend.
"Hey, what are you doing here? I thought that you'd be getting ready for your party tonight," Trina wrapped her arms around his neck.
"I thought I'd have a better time watching you train for the party tonight," Spencer returned her smile and pulled her closer. "You look great."
"I'm only wearing a tank top and sweats. Nothing special," Trina blushed.
"You look great, even if you were wearing rags," Spencer smirked, leaning in for a kiss.
"Trina! You can kiss your boyfriend later! It's time to beat up Angel!" Dawn called out, watching her slayer be pulled into what looked to be a toe-curling kiss.
Trina moaned as she pulled away. "Duty calls. Wait for me, okay? We'll continue this once I'm done here."
"Sure," Spencer smiled, going back to where he was leaning against the wall. He found that he always liked watching Trina fight. Trina fighting was like watching poetry in motion. She was all violence and grace. Not that violence was beautiful, but on Trina, it was, when she was the one dealing it out.
"Careful, Angel man. She kicked my ass a few weeks ago," Dex warned as Angel joined her in the fighting ring.
"Don't worry. I'm used to fighting slayers. I had fought the best of them," Angel smirked.
"Yeah, and my sister sent your ass straight to hell!" Dawn reminded him.
Angel just rolled his eyes and got into position. "Alright, give me your best shot."
Twenty minutes later, Angel was lying on his back, badly beaten and bruised. He glared over at Dawn who was clapping and cheering.
"You enjoyed that way too much, Dawnie," Angel picked himself off the floor as the triumphant Trina was pulled into a congratulatory kiss by Spencer.
Dawn simply shrugged, very unapologetic. "That was for both Buffy and Spike, Peaches!"
Angel just rolled his eyes and hopped down from the ring. "So...are you sure that you're not going to need my help tonight? I hear that the Cassadine vampires are a different breed, sort of speak? I'm surprised that Buffy's not joining you."
"Oh she wanted to, but I think Trina would feel like we have no faith in her, so I told her to sit this one out," Dawn explained, sighing as she looked over at Trina and Spencer, who seemed to be in the middle of a conversation. "I have a feeling Trina's going to wish that she had Buffy's help."
"If you want me, let me know. Just tell me where to stand," Angel offered.
"We could use the extra muscle," Dex piped in, remembering his promise to Spencer.
"Oh, you're helping too?" Dawn blinked, a bit surprised. She wasn't expecting Dex's help.
"Of course. I hate the Cassadines. If I can thwart their agenda, I'm in," Dex laughed.
"What time is this party supposed to start anyway?" Angel questioned.
"Eight I believe," Dex smirked, wondering if Joss was still going to be there. He hoped so. Ever since he heard that she broke up with Cam, he had been dying to talk to her.
"Wow, it's noon already. Trina and I better get ready for the big event. See you guys, and Angel, don't be late," Dawn warned, approaching Trina and Spencer. "Trina, we have to go get ready for tonight. You'll see Spencer later."
Trina frowned, nowhere near ready to say goodbye. Yeah, she'll be seeing Spencer later. When he'll probably begin being stalked by his vampire relatives! "Maybe we should go to Vegas…"
"It's a little too late for that now," Spencer laughed, pulling her close and kissing her one more time. "See you later, slayer."
"Mmm, later," Trina smiled, sinking into the kiss one more time before pulling away and giving a small wave. Walking away was nearly impossible.
Dawn sighed and grabbed Trina's hand. "Trina, come on. You'll see the cute guy later."
Spencer watched her go with a sinking heart. Somehow, he felt like this would be the last time he'd see Trina again, which was silly because she'd be at his birthday party.
"You ok, dude?" Dexter approached, concern shining in his eyes. He didn't like Spencer Cassadine, but he knew that the guy was going through a lot right now and today may be his last day as a human. That was a lot to be aware of.
"I'm fine. I'll be fine, just as long as you remember your promise."
I do. I'll take care of her. Even if she hates me for it," Dex nodded, remembering the task he had been assigned.
…
Trina arrived at the Haunted Star a half hour early. She wore a black leather dress that had a sash around the waist and she wore her knee-length black boots that were always good for slaying. She had her hair tied up in an intricate bun with whisps of curls framing her face. She wore her cherry lip gloss that she knew Spencer loved and blush and eyeshadow that brought out her eyes and cheekbones. She was gorgeous and everyone on the Haunted Star, especially Spencer, couldn't take their eyes off of her.
Spencer approached her with a huge smile. He was dressed all in black with his black hair styled away from his face. His dark eyes looked at her as if he was going to devour her right then and there.
"You're early," Spencer smiled, taking her hands in his.
"Better early than late," Trina smiled as he pulled her into his arms for a welcoming kiss. She giggled as she pulled away. "So, who's all here?"
"Me, my father, my grandmother, and Cam. Adam from business class and Joss, who's been keeping to the opposite side of the room," Spencer nodded over to the blond who looked rather lonely standing against the wall by herself.
"Please tell me that you talked to her," Trina sighed, feeling bad for her friend.
"I did, but I couldn't stand with her the whole time. I have to greet my other guests too," Spencer sighed, feeling guilty, but he couldn't help it.
"Well, I'll just go keep her company until this party really gets started, if you don't mind. Oh, I brought you a gift," Trina dug into the small handbag she had brought with her and handed it to Spencer.
"What is it? It's not a cross, is it? Because I heard those things only work if you believe...and I'm not sure about my belief at the moment."
"No, it's not a cross. Just open it."
Spencer opened the box and gasped at two white doves. "Trina, these are beautiful…"
"I found them at a flea market a few weeks ago. I'm supposed to take one and you're supposed to take one and they keep us bound together, no matter what."
Spencer blinked back the tears he felt rising. Clear emotion was in his eyes as he looked at the doves. "I love it. I'll keep it always."
"I will too," Trina smiled, taking one of the doves. "I love you, Spencer."
He cupped her face with his hands and smiled. "I love you too, Trina. I always will. No matter what happens."
Trina leaned in and kissed him as a shiver ran through her body as if a goose had walked over her grave. She fought against the image of Drusilla, with her cryptic warning, and a foreboding sense of dread. She didn't know why she suddenly felt like that or even thought of Drusilla. She was confident in her skills and that no matter what may happen that night, she and Spencer both would make it through in one piece.
…..
Trina stood with Joss chatting away as she kept her eyes glued to Spencer as he moved around the room, talking to incoming guests and sitting his gifts to the side. She could tell that his mind was preoccupied, thinking about what was to come later that night and so was she. She could barely pay attention to Joss describing her class schedule. Everything seemed to be going well, though. There were no signs of Victor and Helena as of yet, which was good and Cam seemed to be flirting it up with a girl that Trina had seen in Kelly's several times.
"I can't believe that she had the nerve to come. She couldn't even wait a week for the breakup to settle," Joss grumbled as she watched Cam and the girl approach the dance floor hand in hand. "I hope that she knows that she's just a rebound."
"I guess that she's had her eyes on Cam for quite a while," Trina awkwardly smiled, trying her best to stay neutral. After all, it was Joss who had dumped Cam. She really had no right to complain about Cam moving on.
"She has. For the past year, she's been trying to make moves on him," Joss ranted.
"Oh, there's Dex," Trina waved at the souled vampire as he entered.
"Wait, Dex is here? I'm surprised. Spencer can't stand him and with the break up with Cam…," Joss blinked in surprise.
"I think Spencer's mellowed out on his dislike some," Trina waved at the souled vampire, who came over after setting the gift he had brought on the table that already had a ton of gifts on it.
"Hey Trina, Joss," Dex smiled, his eyes becoming glued on the now single blonde.
"Hey. What are you doing here?" Joss questioned, her surprise clear in her voice.
"I was invited. All hands on deck," Dex winked at Trina, who blinked in shock.
"Oh, so you're helping with the big battle?"
"Yes. By the way, Angel sends his apologies. A big apocalypse is happening on the Hellmouth and his presence is needed. I reassured him that we have things handled here," Dex explained, looking around for any signs of vampires. "So...any sign of…"
The room suddenly went quiet as Helena and Victor Cassadine suddenly entered the venue. Trina moved to go to Spencer's side, but Dex held her back.
"Not yet. They're not going to make a move while people are on this ship," Dex whispered.
Trina watched with a rapidly beating heart as the pair approached Spencer, who seemed abnormally pale at the moment.
"Oh, my great-grandson! It is a pleasure to be here for your twenty-first birthday! Tonight you are coming of age! It is something to truly celebrate," Helena wrapped her arms around Spencer, making Trina want to go and plunge her ready stake into the vampiress's back.
"Hello, great-grandmother," Spencer forced a tight smile and gave a nod to a grinning Victor. "Uncle Victor. It's good of you to come."
Trina could hear the lie in those words. In fact, there was real fear there and it broke her heart. She needed to get over there to him, but Dex's grip on her shoulder was holding her back.
"I'm surprised to see the two of you here, Helena," Laura was suddenly by her grandson's side, and Trina spotted tiny sparks of white electricity at the witch's fingertips, ready to defend her grandson if need be.
"Well, Spencer is family. One thing about us Cassadines, we celebrate all of the milestones. Tonight, we're bringing Spencer into the fold of responsible Cassadines. That is indeed something to celebrate," Helena's smile was cold and menacing.
"Gifts go on the table over there," Laura pointed.
"Oh, not to worry. I have my gift right here," Helena held out a small box to Spencer. "It's ok, my boy. Open it up. It's a gift that all Cassadines get sooner or later."
Spencer looked reluctant to take the box, but he did so anyway and opened it up to find an intricate-looking ring. It was gold and had a diamond-encrusted C in the middle.
"It's your Cassadine ring, my boy. All of us Cassadine men have one. Now you do too," Victor chuckled. "Go ahead. Put it on. You'll find that it has the protective powers that your own grandmother Laura has blessed it with."
"It's beautiful. Thank you," Spencer smiled, slipping the ring on.
Trina whispered to Dex. "What is that?"
"Most likely a daylight ring. Not to worry, it won't hurt him. It'll protect him from the sun if the worse should happen and he's turned," Dex explained.
"He won't need it, because he's not going to be turned. Not on my watch," Trina simply stated as she watched the two vampires melt into the crowd. She immediately left Dex and Joss alone to approach Spencer, who was staring at the ring.
"Dex said it's a daylight ring," Trina stated, admiring the jewelry, despite herself. "It's kind of pretty."
"Enjoy the party you two," Laura gave a sad smile before returning to her husband's side.
"Maybe we should have gone to Vegas," Spencer sighed.
"No...it wouldn't have worked. I think they've been watching you since the moment I arrived in town...maybe even before then. They would never have allowed us to even reach the city limits," Trina sighed, wrapping her arms around his waist in a comforting hug. "Don't worry. I won't let them get their claws into you."
"Trina...promise me something, alright?"
"Anything."
"If it looks like you can't save me...I want you to leave. I don't want you to try to save me if it's hopeless.
"What?" Trina pulled away to look at him, her eyes confused and sad. "You cannot be serious."
"I am. I rather become a vampire and have you alive than be saved and you end up dead by Helena's hand. I just….," tears filled his eyes as he looked away.
"What is it?"
"I had a friend. She was older...actually, she was my father's ex. She was the only adult who didn't treat me as a child. In fact, I had hoped she would be my new mom...but things didn't work out...but she remained my friend. Last year...there was a serial killer here in Port Charles and she was the last victim. She died saving Joss...and losing her...it really hurt. I barely got over losing Britt. Which is why I couldn't stand it if I lost you, not for any reason. Even if it's to save my own life, do you understand?"
Trina's tears slid down her cheeks as she nodded and gripped Spencer's hands in hers. "You won't lose me. You won't be able to get rid of me if you tried."
Spencer pulled her into his arms and kissed her deeply, hoping to convey all he felt for her in that one passionate embrace. They parted, both feeling breathless.
"Is it time to cut the cake?" Trina asked, wiping away her tears.
"Um…," Spencer took out his phone to check the time, but the question was answered by Nikolas, who came into the room carrying a big sheet cake with lit candles. "I guess it is."
Everyone began to sing Happy Birthday as Nikolas approached with the cake and cheered as Spencer blew all of the candles out. For some reason, he felt very emotional. Most of the people in this room were close friends and family. People that he loved and cared about and had grown up around. To even think that soon he'll probably no longer be one of them...it hurt.
Seeing the emotion in Spencer's eyes, Trina took his hand. "Do you want to go somewhere to be alone?"
"Um...there are staterooms here...this way," Spencer led her through the crowd, away from everyone. They entered a hallway with doors along the walls. Spencer unlocked the first one they came to and turned on the lights to reveal a stateroom, double bed, and all. The couple entered the room and locked it. Soon, Spencer was in Trina's arms, clinging to her, tears spilling from his eyes.
"Hey, it's okay," She gently rubbed his back, her heart hurting for him.
Spencer shook his head and pulled away. "No. No, it's not ok. It'll never be okay in this cursed family."
Spencer walked over to the bed and sat down on the edge. He glared down at the ring that now sat on his finger. "Trina...I really don't think there's any saving me."
"Don't say that," She sat next to him and placed her hand over his, covering the ring. "If there wasn't, your grandmother would never have sent for me. There is always hope, Spencer."
Spencer looked into Trina's eyes, letting her see the fear and heartache there. He was terrified and there really was nothing she could do to make any of it better. He knew that tonight, he'd either lose his humanity or lose the woman he loved. Maybe both. "I just don't see it, Trina. Either way, I look at it, I lose."
"No. No, you won't. You know...you're right. We'll go. We'll go right now. We'll grab Cam, leave this party, and head for Vegas...or heck, maybe even California! Somewhere far far away," Trina got to her feet, just for Spencer to grab her hand and pull her back down.
"It's too late for that. When she hugged me, it was really tight...and it was clear that there was no getting away. She's not going to let us get off this boat alive, at least not both of us," Spencer sadly sighed.
"Well then, we'll just have to fight her and you're in luck because you have a very skilled slayer on your side."
"That I do," Spencer smiled through his tears. "A slayer that I love so much...more than anything."
"I love you too."
"I don't want you to fight for me," Spencer sobbed. "I'm afraid…"
"Shh, don't be. It's going to be alright. We're going to be alright," She wrapped her arms around him, pulling him against her, trying to soothe his fears the best she could.
Spencer pulled away and gently cupped her face with gentle hands. "I know this isn't the best time...but...I just...want to be close to you...while we still have the chance, you know?"
Trina nodded, feeling the same way. "I agree. Who knows when we'll have the chance to be this close again…"
Spencer pulled her into another kiss, a kiss that Trina returned just as passionately. Knowing that they weren't alone and time was short, they didn't completely undress. They just unzipped and pushed aside their garments until they came together effortlessly and clung to each other as their passion and desire overtook them. They remained in each other's arms even after their climax and they clung to each other, not wanting the moment to ever end.
Spencer kissed the top of her head as she rested her head against his chest. "No matter what happens, I'm going to keep our time together with me, Trina. Whether we survive tonight or not."
"We will. I know we will. There's no other option."
Spencer sighed, wishing that Trina would just accept that there were other options. That she didn't insist on looking only on the bright side, but that there was another side too that had to be acknowledged. But he couldn't pull her down to where he was. He didn't even want to. He just wanted to stay in that room in her arms forever and forget that there was even a such thing as vampires.
Trina frowned as she felt a motion under her that wasn't Spencer. She suddenly sat up and looked around, suddenly on alert.
"What is it?" Spencer asked.
"I think the ship is moving...stay here. I'm going to check it out," Trina got up and rearranged her clothes.
"Trina, wait...don't go out there. There's no telling what's going on," Spencer got up as well, his senses on alert. He had a bad feeling about this.
"Don't worry. I have my stake and some holy water. I'll be fine. Just stay in this room. Don't leave. I'll be back, I promise."
"Trina!" But it was too late. She was gone, leaving him alone in the room, looking scared, feeling like he'd never see her again...at least not as a human anyway. "I love you, Trina…"
…..
Trina moved silently through the hallway and back into the party area, just to find it empty. Everyone was gone, or so it seemed. She looked around, almost desperately, looking for any of the partygoers that had attended.
"There you are," Dex Heller stepped into the room, looking relieved to see her. "We were looking for you two. It was getting late and everyone was leaving. I managed to stay onboard though…"
"Even Laura and Dawn left?" Trina frowned.
Dex nodded. "I think everyone was under some kind of thrall or something. Or at least that's what I gathered.
"Oh god, whatever they have planned, it must be soon, since the ship is moving away from the dock…"
"Where's Spencer?" Dex frowned., not seeing the birthday guy anywhere. He still remembered his promise and was determined not to leave the slayer's side for anything.
"I left him in a stateroom. I told him not to leave...We'll go get him. Follow me," Trina motioned for Dex to follow as she headed back to the room where she had left Spencer.
"Spencer everyone is…," Trina's words died as she entered the room just to find it empty. "Oh my god, where is he? I hadn't left him that long ago! He was supposed to stay here and not go anywhere! We have to find him!" Trina struggled not to panic. Panicking would not help anyone, especially Spencer. "Oh my god, I should never have left him alone...what was I thinking?"
Dex frowned as he walked into the room and spotted something white on the floor. He bent down and picked it up and frowned. "Does this look familiar?"
Trina walked over to see what Dex was holding and gasped in horror. "It's the dove I gave him! He was supposed to keep it with him! He wouldn't have just dropped it!"
"This is a clue then. He was taken against his will. Probably by Helena or Victor. Whatever it is they're planning, they're doing it now!"
"We can't let them do it! We have to stop them! I promised Spencer that I'd protect him, Dex! What do I do? Leave him alone and vulnerable so that bitch could just snatch him away! What kind of protection is that?"
"Trina, calm down."
"No! You don't get it! He was so afraid! He was afraid and scared and I let him down! I let him down, Dex!"
Dex grabbed her shoulders and gave her a small shake. "Trina, listen to me! This is not the time to spiral! Trust me, you did not let him down, ok! It's not too late, but it will be if you continue what you're doing! Pull it together, alright? Take five seconds. Five seconds to spiral, then pull it together. One...two...three...four...five...alright. Are you ok?"
Trina squeezed her eyes shut, allowing her mind to wander to the worst-case scenario and back. By the time Dex was finished counting, she opened her eyes and nodded. "I'm ok. Let's go find Spencer and kick that old bitch's ass," Trina dug into her bag and pulled out a stake.
"No super soaker?"
Dex laughed. "Left it at home, unfortunately. Come on. Let's go save your boyfriend."
…..
They made their way down to the lower levels of the ship, looking and listening for any signs of Helena, Victor, and Spencer. Unfortunately, they didn't find them in any of the other rooms, so they returned to the room where the party was held and to their surprise, found Spencer, tied and gagged, surrounded not only by Helena and Victor but by other vampires, including Nikolas who looked rather sad and guilty. Dex pulled Trina back into the shadows of the hallway, so they could remain hidden.
"Grandmother, please. Rethink this. Spencer doesn't want this and neither do I! Just let him go and I'll do whatever it is you want me to, like I've been doing!" Nikolas pleaded.
"Oh do shut up, Nikolas! It's already been deemed that you're too weak and cowardly to do what needs to be done! We need a leader with a spine of steel! We need a Cassadine! You're too weak with that witch's blood in your veins and her cursed soul repressing what you could be!"
"That curse is on my line! You turn Spencer and he'll be souled as well! Your plans will not come to fruition! You might as well just give it up and let my son go to live his human life!"
Helena and Victor looked at each other and laughed.
"My dear nephew. Our dear mystic friend Rasputin had removed that pesky curse. So you see, when we turn the boy, his soul will not be a problem. He'll be just as strong and ruthless as you were supposed to be! He'll be a true Cassadine leader and he will lead our family back to what we once were and this time...we'll stay there! No puny revolution will ever take it away again!" Victor happily declared. "Now. Let's get this started. We turn him...and then we'll go search for that sweet little slayer that is still on this ship somewhere. I'm pretty sure that she didn't get off with the others."
Spencer began to make noise and struggle some more, but it was useless. He was tied tight and couldn't get away. His eyes widened when he finally spotted Dex and Trina hiding in the shadows. He made eye contact with Dex and shook his head, signaling for Dex to get Trina out of there. There were too many vampires for her to fight and Helena and Victor were already looking for her.
"She'll make the boy a perfect first kill, don't you think, Nikolas? I heard slayer blood is the best," Helena gushed.
"I wouldn't know," was Nikolas's grim answer.
Trina couldn't wait any longer. If she was going to take Helena and Victor out, it was going to have to be now. She gripped her stake and stepped out of the hall into the room, not listening to Dex's protests.
"Looking for me? I'm right here. Let him go and maybe, I'll make your deaths quick," Trina twirled her stake in her hand, trying not to look at Spencer, who was looking at her with wide scared eyes, then looking behind her at Dex.
"Oh look. A little mouse. It's going to be fun squashing it," Helena smiled, her face morphing into the mask of the vampire. "This one is mine!"
Spencer tried to speak, but he was gagged, he tried yelling at Dex anyway, telling him to grab Trina and get her out of there.
Dex was about to go out and grab Trina, but he held back, wanting to see if there was a chance for Trina to win this. To save Spencer and herself. He ignored Spencer and watched, yet remained ready to grab Trina if it looked like things were going to go badly.
"I'm not afraid of you," Trina stood her ground.
"Oh, little girl. You should be. You should be very afraid," Helena licked her teeth. "I can see why you'd want the boy. He's very beautiful. Just think of how much more beautiful he'll be as one of us. Powerful and deadly."
"He's beautiful as he is now. Alive and human," Trina gripped her stake, ready to fight and dust the old vampiress once and for all. "You'll turn him over my dead body."
"Well, if you must have it that way, fine then," Helena roared before flying at Trina who did a roundhouse kick and knocked Helena back. Helena came at Trina again, this time landing a punch of her own, knocking her back as well.
Vampire and Slayer were doing what they did best. They punched, kicked, and dodged until Trina began to feel tired. She was getting tired, but Helena...she still had plenty of fight in her yet it seemed. Dex frowned, noticing the slayer slowing down. If things kept up, Trina would lose and he would have broken his promise. He risked a glance over at the terrified Spencer, who was simply glaring at him now, blaming him. He looked again and his heart sank to see Victor, slowly approaching Trina, ready to pounce when he had the chance, and the chance was approaching in a few minutes. There was no way that Trina was going to be able to keep it up against Helena. The vampiress was too old and she had another powerful vampire on the outskirts to help.
Dex knew that if he was going to save the slayer, he was going to have to move now, so as fast as lightning he ran out and grabbed Trina, pulling the slayer back and out of both vampire's reach.
"Dex what are you doing?!" Trina angrily screamed.
Dex ignored her as he threw her over his shoulder and took off running for the exit, knowing that the surrounding vampires were probably in pursuit. He felt the slayer struggle, trying to get out of his grasp, but thankfully his hold on her was too strong.
"Spencer!" Trina screamed as she spotted him, tied up tight, his eyes wide and full of tears as he saw her be carried away, his last chance of being rescued. "Spencer no!" She screamed as Helena and Victor closed in on him, blocking her view.
She continued to struggle and scream as she saw the other vampires begin to give chase and then, they were on the boat deck, at the railing and then, they were flying through the air and into the ocean. Trina barely had enough time to gulp in a breath of air as the ocean swallowed both her and Dex and the waves carried them back to shore, leaving the Haunted Star behind with Spencer on it. Leaving him to a fate that Trina had tried so hard to save him from.
