Chapter 8 Hunted
Deep in Vilgax's ship, the Chimeran Hammer continues to orbit the Earth. Inside the Spaceship, on a levitating platform, three spotlights shine on three bounty hunters. The first is thin with purple and black armor; the second resembles a robotic half-human/half-crustacean; the third wears bulky gray armor and has a pillbug-like shell covering their face.
The first immediately fires up a jetpack and lands in a circle of basic flying drones. He pulls a small blaster from a compartment on his joint and shoots a few down. A few fire back; he rolls out of the way and fires small rockets from his wrist in retaliation. He pulls a grenade out of another compartment for another cluster of drones.
The second bounty hunter jumps down to join, pounding one on his way down, grabbing another with a massive claw, and using it as a projectile against another. Two more of the drones rush him; he catches one with his claw and pulls out a sword to split the other in two. A platform opens up on the ceiling, and a gigantic attack droid falls to the floor, ready to fire at the two.
Now the turn of the third hunter, who deploys a hoverboard and rides it right into the droid's laser blast. When the smoke clears, he is completely unharmed. Without a moment to lose, he flies into the droid's chest and punches right through it. He folds his hoverboard back up as flaming robot pieces fall to the ground. A video screen of Vilgax appears on the wall, still sitting in his giant chair.
"Impressive. You are all hired. Your objective is to retrieve the Omnitrix." Vilgax said as the screen showed the image of the most powerful weapon in the galaxy.
"The one who succeeds collects the reward. Do NOT disappoint me." Vilgax said in a threatening manner that showed his time would not be wasted. All three wasted no time and left the room. On that day three pods were ejected from the ship shooting down toward the world of elements.
Ube was currently in the kitchen, making some clam Jamasiome tea. He was tired from all the training and flying, but that could all wait right now. He had a family that he never met before.
Sitting calmly on the couch was Opal, sitting with a gentle poise. Her eyes wandered to many of the pictures on the walls. Many of them have Ube and Lin involved in fun activities. One was of the two in a photo portrait, Ube was very young and looked to be nine years old.
Opal thought it was so strange she had a cousin. The many stories she heard about Lin Beifong from her mother put her more into women married to her job. To see her settled down was a little much for her to take in. Though she saw no pictures of a husband on the walls what gave?
"I hope you like tea," Ube said, walking with a big silver tray. On it are a white teapot two cups and some rice cakes.
"Thank you that's very kind of you but you didn't have to do this for me," Opal said trying to be a humble guest.
"Nonsense it's at least I can do for you, I mean, to be honest, I'm so happy to meet you," Ube said excitedly. Opal turned her head to face the young teen.
"Why's that we're just cousins I'm nothing too special- oh sorry I didn't mean like that," Opal said trying to be real. It sounded to her that Ube was unaware of her existence. How could he not hear about the great Zaofu? To Ube, this was his moment to truly know about his family, the one that brought him in from the street. Ube always wanted brothers or sisters, some aunts, and uncles to hang out with, and maybe a grandpa or grandma to tell him old stories but it was just him and his mom. So seeing Opal was so exciting for him.
"Just cousins! How could you say that we're family and I could never say no to family, I also bet you have a bunch of amazing stories," Ube said like a little kid meeting new friends.
"Thank you, that's nice of you, I just can't believe that I have a cousin out here in Republic City. It's amazing," Opal said. Ube could pick up that there were more than she was leading on. Ube could tell she was from a faraway place but we were.
"So hey Opal, how many families do you have, Ten, thirty, do I have aunts and uncles," Ube stopped and gave a loud gasp. "Have you met Toph, Is she even alive?"
"What of course she is alive, I met her when I was very young, How could you not know that?" She asked unsure of what to think of Ube's lack of awareness of the Beifong.
"To be honest I thought me and mom were the only Beifong, It's just she didn't talk about family, and every time I bring it up, she kind of just dogged the question," Ube admitted,
The room became quiet as an awkward silence took over. Ube cleared his voice and tried to brighten up the room.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to dampen the mood?" Ube said, rubbing the back of his head. He let out a tired yawn and soon gazed at Opal.
"Please no worries, It sounds like you guys had a hard time, though, it's so nice to meet you eventually," Opal said. Taking a sip of tea, her reaction to the drink had wide eyes of surprise.
"Wow, this is good," Opal said. She thought it was a very good tea, especially coming from a life of luxury and high standards. This team is certainly up to code with that life.
"Thank you, I made it myself, made everything from scrapped everything you see on that plate is made by me," Ube said with a hint of pride. Opal was surprised at the news.
" I thought this was all Star pot. You're a really good cook!" She said in joy partaking in each of the little dishes that the tea platter had. Ube noticed how much Opal ate of the small cakes. It seems. She was very hungry, probably from a long trip here.
"So if you don't mind me asking why are you here, I don't mind it, just you know I'd like to help," Ube said in a kind voice. Opal had a nervous look on her face, actually uncomfortably scratching her arms.
"Okay here's the thing I wanted to talk to Aunt Lin to see if I could stay with her in the city for a while-," Before Opal could finish her sentence. Ube was so happy at the news he prematurely answered.
"Oh course, you can stay with us, I would love it," Ube said with joy taking Opal aback but his positive nature.
"Really?" She asked.
"Yeah of course I'm sure Mom will have something to say, but I wouldn't worry. Also, it's gonna take a little bit of time before she gets here. There is a lot of work she's got to do. I won't even think she'll be able to make it tonight." Ube admitted it honestly, though, in truth, Ube knew he was the one probably holding at work, going around town saving people as aliens. not to mention his little training session with Tenzin. Opal jumped in joy and hugged her cousin in gratitude.
"Oh thank you, thank you!" She quickly backpedaled her action, realizing she had only met Ube today. Ube didn't mind and gave an awkward thumbs-up.
"Hey it's cool cuz, Oh my gosh I can't believe I said that I have family, this is amazing!" Ube said in excitement. Opal giggled at her cousin's reaction. Ube now had a guest, and there was only one thing to do to be a good host.
"So while we were waiting for my mom, what do you want to do?" Ube asked. Opal's eyes lit up with joy like she was waiting to say what was on her mind.
"Can we look at the city, I hear so many great things about it," Opal said with wonder and joy. Ube nodded but had one little thing he had to do first.
"Sure, can I just go get some shut-eye for a bit, I sort of had a long day yesterday, eh My bad," Ube said in a quiet voice, knowing that he spent an entire day as another alien without any rest or sleep. Opal gave a happy nod and smiled, she needed a rest after the trip she made.
"Thanks, I'll make sure not to take too much of your time," Ube said, going into his room and collapsing on his bed. Opal could hear a loud you're from the other room, and held in a laugh. Opal took a seat and gazed at the room she was in, taking in her surroundings, and taking a deep breath. So many thoughts are rolling in her mind. However, if she could describe her newfound cousin, in one word. It would be overworked. Opal thought how tired he looked figuring he had come back from doing such a big job. She guessed that was just city life but Ube had been lacking in something.
Not to mention why didn't you see any baby pictures or any information on him? Her mother Sue was always trying to keep up to date with her aunt. She never really understood the long distance but it seems that her aunt was doing well. Opal let out a loud yawn and lay down. resting for the day to come.
Opal looked at the ceiling with a sad look. "Sorry Mom but I had to go see the world,"
Republic City was known to be surrounded by a mountain range with its snow caps, and the thick pine woods. Many woodsmen in the city thought of how calm it was. However, that peace would be shaken today as a metal leg was stabbed into the ground.
As one of the alien bounty hunters gazed at the giant republic city ahead of them. This bounty hunter's name was Karb, a ruthless bounty hunter The legends of his brutality reach around the stars.
"This planet is a dump, I can't believe the most powerful weapon in the galaxy is stuck on this backwater world," Krab said clawing forward. The sound of a jet passed by the alien bounty hunter as the purple bounty hunter SixSix landed by Krab.
" " SixSix said, in an unknown alien language, flying down to see the masked bounty hunter open a device in his hand. The bulky bounty hunter was holding radar, a dot blinking right at Republic City.
"The Omnitrix energy waves are picked up in that city," The Buckley bounty hunter said. SixSix walked towards them with an uncaring pace. Only to be stopped by a third mystery bounty hunter.
"Keep a low profile, This planet is only level two on the technology scale, they barely entered three, Keep a low profile or else," He warned SixSix, who simply shrugged off his grip and flew off into the sky as his jet pack propelled him to his location. The mysterious bounty hunter shook his head and threw a black egg at the ground making a black hoverboard. He hopped on and surfed towards the city.
Karb gave a tired sigh and slapped his forehead. "They never say the job gets easier, but it always does get a lot more fun,"
Krab let into the air and dive-bombed into the ground, his legs now becoming a super drill that burrows into the earth. The hunt was on the question was now who would find the poor unfortunate soul who held their payday.
Opal and Ube were walking down the street, there was an awkward silence. A couple of minutes ago Opal had a rough moment, trying to wake up her cousin. Ube could sleep through a hurricane. Trying to wake him up was like him trying to wake up a sloth snail. Ube who was leading the way had his hand in his pocket walking straight face.
"You certainly sleep like the dead?" Opal said. Ube sheepishly scratched the back of his head.
"Sorry we used to live in this old apartment that was near a metal construction factory, I got used to loud noises," Ube admitted. There was time and place for everything but trying to wake him up was more complicated than anything about him.
"So where are we going?" Opal asked.
"That's an easy question. Our first stop is the great grand Republic City Central Park." Ube said. He stepped forward and was now at the main gate. Open for the public and sign that says some construction in work. They walked through the park with its nice cherry blossom trees. There was a nice breeze passing by.
Opal gazed at the lush trees with wonder like it was the first time she had seen them.
"Wow, that's amazing. Look at this place of nature all surrounded by the city. It's like a little oasis," She said. Ube gave a soft laugh.
"You think this is cool, Wait until you see the fire festival, They have the best fire flakes and Gummy fire soldiers, and at the end of the night they do a firework show," Ube said. They went around feeding the title ducks, and checking out the site and avatar Aang Memorial Statue. They laughed and joked. At the same time, they make their way out of the park. Opal's eyes caught onto a giant crater and stopped to stare at the site.
"What happened there?" Opal asked.
Ube shifted towards the while in the ground and gave an award cough.
"Oh, that we'll see…" Ube trailed off thinking about what to truly say. If he told the truth, what would happen? He just got to meet his first cousin, Ube didn't want her to go and leave. Being scared off by robots and aliens, That feeling of accident enters his heart and he gives a soft cough.
"Well it was a gas pipe leak, you know someone caused a spark it's nothing to worry about," Ube said. He felt a pit of doubt boil in his stomach and put on his same smile.
"Come on let me take you two the best food stop in the city," Ube said. Opal was getting a bit peckish and she could use a bite to eat.
"Sure why not," Opal said.
The two walked down the street both having some peep in their steps. Opal couldn't help but think how open the sky was in Republic City. Zaofu was so safe and kept safe by the vigilant guards, It was quieter with barely any crime. As perfect as that sound, Opal thought how boring it was, so quiet and peaceful. There was no edge to it despite being a metal city, this place she was in screamed personality, even Ube's wild and happy personality was so fun to be around. While they walked to grab something to eat some was watching from afar. Though walking by the coward she did notice the many glances heading her way.
"I guess metal tribe getup isn't a popular cloth choice here." Opal thought.
The mysterious bounty hunter watched from on top of the building, his radar going off the charts. His pod helmet gazed at the two as he put away his strange device.
The two stopped at the great Happy Dragon restaurant. Ube took a happy breath and walked in. Opal could only focus on how small it was. This was one of the greatest restaurants in the city, the fact that it seemed a little boring. As they walked in the front door, making that customer bell ring, They were greeted by Mr. Shi who was wiping his hand with a white rag.
"Ube what are you doing here on your day off," Mr. shi eye latched onto Opal who was behind Ube. "And who's this, Ube keeps bringing, pretty girls here, the customers love that"
"Mr. Shi," Ube protested in shyness. Opal let out a giggle seeing the old man pulling on Ube's leg. Opal smiled and gave a polite bow to Mr. Shi.
"It's very nice to meet you sir I'm Opal Beifong," Opal said.
Ube could see Mr. Shi's reaction and was a bit underwhelmed, it was like he was a bit disappointed, Ube quickly saw that reaction vanish as it was now replaced with the familiar happy face, Mr. Shi greeted everybody. Ube thought that was very strange but thought nothing of it.
"Well, it pleasure to meet your cousin and it appears you are from the metal clan aren't you?" Mr Shi asked finding her clothing to be from that region of the world.
"Yes of course I guess my clothing gave it away," Opal said, though her stomach growl got both of their attention. "So uh what do you recommend here," She asked Ube.
"Two usually?" Ube asked. Mr. Shi nodded his head and walked into the kitchen.
"Two Usually coming right up," He yelled while walking in the kitchen. Ube and Opal took a seat at a small wooden table. Opal's eyes latched onto the wall seeing a lot of newspaper clippings of Lin Beifong, with many headlines being.
"Big gang bust, executed by Police Officer Beifong!"
"Police officer Beifong Saving five children from a burning bundling!"
"Drug bust made by Police Officer Beifong!"
Opal was amazed at how cool Lin Beifong was, doing so many amazing things without fear and her duty to the city. She wished that Opal herself could go on a grand adventure like that and save people. Opal did have one question though about this cozy restaurant.
"Hey Ube why does Mr. Shi have so many pictures of your mom on the walls?" Opal asked. Ube who giving a lovestruck gaze at Asami as she was busting the tables. Doing it with such ease and at a fast pace, she was looking like an angel to Ube. Opal connected the dots and gave an annoyed sigh. She snapped her fingers in front of Ube's face.
"Hey!" Opal called.
"Sorry, what?" Ube asked being dragged out of his puppy love.
"I asked why Mr. Shi has so many pictures of your mom on the walls," Opal said in a strong tone of voice. Ube gave a nonchalant look at the wall behind him and gave a cheeky smile.
"Oh that, well you see it's kind of a funny story, My mom was Mr. shi first customer and this is her favorite spot, she said, she would even chow down here in cadet days as well. Mr. Shi is kind of family to me and Mom. He always been there for us and such a cool boss," Ube said thinking of the found memoirs he shared with Mr. Shi. Ube beamed with joy. Opal was surprised that he worked at such a small shop despite having such a big name.
"You work here?" Opal asked
"Yep and I'm proud of it He's almost like my Grandpa," Ube said.
Opal understood what found family was like, her chief back in the family mansion might as well have been her uncle.
"So who was that you were smiling at? Hmmm~," Opal said putting her elbows on the table giving a mischievous smirk. Ube had a soft blush and sheepishly looked away from Opal's gaze.
"She a friend is all," Ube said.
"Well, I'm glad to be your friend, and speaking of friends who this?" Asami said who was now at their table. Ube shifted his head at his crush and held his tongue. Asami had her hand on her hip with a sassy smile, though her gaze now went to the women sitting across Ube. Opal extended her hand for Asami, which the heiress of the Sato company gladly took.
"I'm Opal, Ube here is my cousin, it's glad to meet one of my coworkers,"
"Hi, I'm Asami, nice to meet you," She smiled at her and gave a curt nod. Asami gave a curt smile. "I can see you out of town, you picked a heck of a wrong time to come to the city, It's full of spirit-,"
Asami was cut off by Ube who cut her off. "Hope Spirit energy is getting crazy out their people, just having a good time, yep Nothing too dangerous going on here,"
Asami was met with a begging glare for not to say anything about them, Asami didn't know what to think but if it was Ube's problem so be it. Opal noted how strange Ube acted at the mention of spirits but after meeting him and his quirks she wasn't sure if this was normal or not. Asami gave a silent nod as Ube mouthed a thank you from his lips.
Her gaze fell upon Ube and before he could speak Asami put a gentle hand on his shoulder. Making the poor teen freeze in his place. Ube turned to see she had a gentle stare at him. Asami knew Ube had met the spirits she needed an answer from him.
"When you're free tomorrow, I want you to come over to my house, we need to talk about something," Asami asked as she quickly zoomed back into the kitchen. Her wavey hair followed her as she carried the tray of dishes. Ube was still marveling at her, making Opal laugh at his reaction. Ube to his embarrassment quickly his face in his shirt.
"So Opal, is there anything you wanted to look at?" He asked. Her hands slammed on the table as her eyes widened with want. Ube was a little spooked by the action.
"Can we go to the pro-bending game?" Opal asked with pure excitement.
"Yeah, of course, we can see one tonight, I hear the fire ferrets are playing, they are making a comeback," Ube said. Opal is so excited right now The one thing she heard about Republic City was their popular game of pro-bending.
"Thank you," Opal said.
"Ube smiled no problem," Ube said.
"Order up do usuals for here," Mr. Shi said. He laid their dish onto their table with a mighty grin. presenting the dishes to them. They were both fried Isopods, giant roly-poly creatures, forming a bowl as it was filled with mango curry. Opal looked at the dish with utter shock, having never seen a dish like this before. Before Opal could ask Ube if it was good the young boy was already digging in with other delight.
"Oh, this is good," Ube said with a mouth full of food. Opal gave an awkward smile and stood up.
"I'm just going to use the bathroom," She said, though, in all honesty, she was trying to think whether or not that's edible to eat or not. Mr. Shi shook his head at the girl's reaction.
"That girl has a spoiled palate," Mr. Shi said. Ube was about to speak when suddenly, he heard a bunch of people screaming and running down the street. He quickly got up from his chair and out of the building. He wondered why all these people were running only for that question to be answered as Krab threw a car down the street.
His yellow optics narrowed down on the young teenager who held the Omnitrix. He began to slowly approach the young teen as his robot legs stabbed the ground.
"Found you, now give me the watch," Krab said, his giant metal claw pinching the air. Ube narrowed his eyes and turned to face Mr. Shi who gave an approving nod. Ube ran into the alley as Krab gave chase. Ube knew nobody would be there and Opal and Asami were inside the safe, he twisted the dial and selected a form.
"It's hero time," Ube said, slamming down the face plate. He felt his body being engulfed in a green light. His body changed and turned into something else. Now standing in his place was no other than good old Four Arms. He stopped running and turned back to face Krab.
"You ready for beat down," Four Arms said, as he began to crack his knuckles. Krab stopped and was unimpressed at the transformation. He used his normal arm to pull something from his back. Four Arms took that chance to charge at him however Krab raised his claw and it opened, A blast of orange slime shot from the claw, forced Four Arms, and bonded his arms, in gooey arm restraints.
Four Arms tried to bust open and yet it failed. Krab pulled out a long bronze baton. While at the end of it glowed with blue energy.
"Hardly worth the hunt," Krab said as he snapped his claw. Four Arms glared at this machine, if it could speak he would give this guy a piece of his mind. "Hand over the Omnitrix and I promise you won't suffer - much."
"Listen crabby, me and the watch are," Four Arm said back.
"Not for long," Krab said slowly approaching him. Four Arms was trying to break out of his gooey confinement. Each time he tried to pull it off, it became tighter like the more force he put on it the more tougher it was.
"You're as arrogant as you are dim-witted!" Krab said realizing that Four Arm wasn't figuring out any other plan. Four Arm smiled as he had an Idea pop in his head. He ran forward leaped into the air and gave a mighty kick at Krab, who blocked the attack skidding back into the street. Then when Four Arms landed on the ground caused a great impact on the ground making the road he landed on into a pile of gravel. Krab shot the button at Four Arms giving him a great shock, he let out a yelp of pain. Karb was about to snap at Four Arms again however Four Arm dodged the attack rolling into the rock he made, the orange slime making the rock stick to him.
Krab stabbed the ground only for Four Arms to roll out of the way and back on his feet. Now covered in tan rock and dust making him look like a Tempura shrimp. He smiled at Karb as his play was already in action. Karb leaps toward our hero and his claw ready to crunch the alien.
Four Arms ran towards Karb who struck out his button again, only for it to not conduct, as the rock and dirt were so deep into the slime, that it lost its conductive properties as the metal rod was now stuck into the jell. Karb gazed up seeing a smiling Four Arms smirking.
"What was that about being dim-witted," He smiled and slammed his head right down on the mechanical being's head, forcing it back into his chest like his head was a pop-up toy. Krab tried to pull his head out while he was backing away. With great force, he ripped the goop that covered him splashing it everywhere.
Krab popped his head out and stared at the Tetramand, He gave an annoyed grunt but it became a laugh as Krab held in his claw making it move and turn like he was stretching his hand.
"Well this isn't as boring as I thought it would be," Krab said enjoying the moment. Before Four Arms could charge Krab burrowed in the ground as his laugh echoed through the hole he dug. Krab was gone and Ube felt like he didn't win at all. He took a deep breath and knelt at the whole. Narrowing his Four Eyes at what this Krab was.
"Four Arms, what was that," Asami's voice called out. Four Arm turned to see Mr. Shi, Asami, and… Opal! Four Arms could tell Opal was Staring at him with amazement. Asami smiled and could see this was Opal's first time seeing the so-called native spirits.
"You guys alright?" Four Arms asked. Opal's eyes then showed an alarming terror, she looked around the streets.
"Where's Ube?" Opal asked. Asami had a worried glance. When she heard the chaos outside was over, she saw Ube run out, She wanted to give chase to him but she was stopped by Mr. Shi. Quickly she glanced at Four Arms.
"Where is he," She asked.
"Don't worry he's fine, he went out to actually help those people escape from that, uh, I wanna say robot krab," Four Arms said.
Opal meanwhile, was completely in utter awe at what she just heard, her cousin just bravely went headfirst just to help some people he didn't even know. She heard a couple of rumors about spirits and China, tons in the city, but she thought I was just a myth, a local folktale to inspire, or possibly give the city life. Now it was true, she worried if these were evil spirits like Koh the face stealer but that clearly wasn't the case. She could see this four-armed spirit had a gentle face.
"Don't worry I'll go find him," Four said, leaping a great distance away. From the sites of the public and hide to time out from his transformation.
Opal was at a loss for words but was more worried about her cousin's whereabouts. She felt hopeless and alone, her shoulders shaking. Asami saw her reaction and put a commuting hand on Opal's shoulder. She quietly gave an Opal calm small hug.
"Hey, it's okay," Asami said. "I'm sure he's okay,"
"I sure am, because I'm right here," Ube said standing in front of them. With a happy smile, Opal quickly wrapped her arms around Ube's neck and gave him a loving hit.
"Oh gosh you're okay, Thank goodness," She said letting Ube go. She had narrowed her eyes at Ube.
"How could you go off to do something reckless, even if you are a bender, you should leave that stuff towards the police," Opal scolded, showing she was worried about her cousin. Ube gave an apologetic look towards them, and Asami gave a light punch to Ube's left arm.
"Do you always do crazy stuff or do you just have a death wish," Asami said in irritation. However, that mask of anger slowly faded away as it was replaced with happiness.
"I'm glad you're okay," She said.
"Sorry guys I didn't mean to scare you guys," Ube gave an awkward laugh. "Sorry, Opal. Also, one thing you got wrong is that I'm not a bender."
Opal was taken back but still held her stern glare at him. She didn't care if he was a non-bender even if that made him cooler in her eyes. "Whenever or not keep your head out of trouble doofus,"
Mr. Shi gave a silent nod and looked around at the destruction.
"Well it looks like no one coming around the shop, so Asami you have the rest of the day off," Mr. Shi said.
"Are you sure?" Asami asked. Mr. Shi waved her off.
"Listen is gonna be swarmed with cops and I say none of you are gonna get back home until late, being held up by the police, Ube, Opal, and Asami go ahead and watch that pro-bending game."
All three of them had guilty looks but understood Asami did want to see the match, the fire ferrets were playing this match. Opal didn't was her first day here being stuck with the police.
"Alright if you say so," Ube said. They began to walk away Mr. Shi glanced at his watch and gave a serious glance.
"Ubebe careful," He said walking back into his store.
Far away one person watched this whole conflict, the mystery bounty hunter, but put his strange binoculars down.
"Not as green as I thought," He said, finding this human to be interesting. He had potential but was still a rookie at combat. He showed a lot of cunning, unfortunately, cunning wouldn't cut it for Vilgax.
"I have to get that device off the planet before he lays waste to this world."
Space visitors watched from a distance, deep in an alleyway where they hid in the shadows. Amon the leader of the equalist had seen the conflict that took place here. Walking out of the darkness was Amon's right-hand man. With a stoic gaze seeing the ruble that was in front of them.
"So the rumors are true," Amon said. "It appears the supernatural has become natural,"
"What do you want to do?" Asked his second-in-command. There was a harsh in his voice after seeing these two Titans brawl.
Amon gazed up at the sky and touched his mask.
"We will have to make new agreements, and tell Mr. Sato that he needs to speed up the mech production," Amon said. Glaring at the destruction made by the two spirits. He shook his head thinking the world was out of balance and that bending had brought this plague of spirits, He would take advantage of this situation. He turned to face his second in command.
"Set up the revelation early, I must show these spirits, were on their side," Amon said. "I shall bring the world into a new age of equality one where the spirits can stay in their world,"
They slowly walked back into the shadows as the sound of police sirens could be heard in the distance.
Opal, Asami, and Ube were sitting in the public trolley, after the incident, they discussed amongst themselves, that they would all go to the pro-bending game. Opal wasn't opposed to Asami coming but she felt a pit in her stomach hearing something Ube said.
Opal and Asami glanced at Ube, seeing he was in deep thought. They both wondered what he was thinking, as he had a very serious expression.
"Why was it after the watch, Was it the original owner, Did someone want it back, Should I even give it back?" Ube thought. The situation had appeared to be more grim than he thought. If somebody had sent some hired muscle to pick up the device, surely that wasn't a good sign. Not to mention he didn't wanna give it back he felt it was a part of him, and ripping it away would be almost cruel.
"Ube?" Opal called out. The young teen was snapped out of his thoughts.
"Sorry, what did I miss," Ube asked thinking he made a mistake. Opal frowned at the answer.
"Why did you run off like that to help people, especially with no bending," Opal asked. Asami's ears perked up at the answer, the son of the legendary Lin Befong wasn't a bender, yet he still chose to help people. Asami couldn't help but admire that, with nothing. Diving head first into the fire to thoughts who need help. No wonder these spirits liked Ube they had the same attitude. Asami gave it some thought and couldn't help but find some weird similarities between the spirits and Ube, but she couldn't quite tell what it was.
"Sorry it's just whenever I see people who are in danger, I just have to do something about it, I know it's silly but it's life and I can't ignore it. Opal, I'm sorry I'm sure I don't compare to an amazing Earthbender like you," Ube admitted, feeling a bit ashamed that he didn't have any bending, he knew of his adoptive origins but still, he felt a little embarrassed to even be in such a big name family. Opal totaled with her fingers and gave a shy laugh.
"Well, you see…" Opal trailed off in her sentence, making both of them glance at her. "I'm not a bender either,"
Opal was quite embarrassed about that fact, too. She rarely left the house grounds unless she was guarded or with family. Her mother always kept her safe though she wanted to see the world. Asami could see both of their self-disappointment in themselves and decided to step up.
"Hey I don't have any bending either but I'm still the best," Asami said trying to cheer them up. Ube had a sympathetic look at Opal.
"It must be hard, bending your not, You still a good cousin," Ube said, getting a smirk. She crossed her arms and gave a mischievous smile.
"Doofus you are, you're still a good cousin," Opal said with pride. Asami let out a laugh at the name. Ube gave a relieved sigh, unfortunately now realizing that doofus was going to be a nickname from now on. The trolley soon stopped and Ube had a smile.
"I can see you in a better mood and gave me the nickname, but at least not a dweeb like you," Ube said with a smug tone. Opal let out a smirk seeing that Ube could handle a bit of verbal banter. The trolley stopped and a loud bell rang.
"Well, we're here," Ube said, all of them walking outside. Opal gave an audible gasp, seeing a giant stadium in front of them. They were on the cost side of the city as the Stadium was over the sea connected by a large. The pro-bending arena was a colossal glass dome structure, located on a man-made platform. Castleway connects the building entrance to the mainland as a testament to the popularity of the sport, The arena's exterior has a golden appearance, and it's late at night. I would've been quite busy except during the daytime; those were the slow games and less busy. Opal had her jaw dropped and eyes full of shine.
"Well let's check it out," Ube said, marching forward.
Far away two were watching the three teenagers walk into the stadium, both having very eager stances to Charge in and claim their bounty. Krab and Six Six both had their weapons drawn. didn't care if they broke any inner galactic laws about breaking and interfering in unadvanced worlds. This was payday waiting to be taken.
"Ssa Ruoy Dekcik Ohw Eht stahT," Six Six said in his strange alien language. Krab shook his head and pointed at Ube.
"Well tough guy why don't you try and catch him," Krab said.
"Tuhs pu dna s'tel teg eht ytounb," SixSix said.
"Fine looks like the finale match has begun," Krab said with wicked joy. He has a twisted love for his job.
