Chapter five:
Kaoru lets out as quiet of a breath that he can before he finally pulls the trigger.
The bullet flies through the air and as it approaches time almost seems to go into slow motion. It strikes its target in the head causing a splatter of blood to occur then the target collapses.
Kaoru blinks taking things in for a moment that he actually killed his first person for real instead of in practice like he had done so many times. He finds that it feels like a shock and almost as if this isn't really real. He isn't sure how long he is sitting there taking in shock before footsteps are heard after some shouting happens from someone. He quickly shakes off his shock as he notices guards starting to race around to try to find where that bullet had to come from; With one going to the body only to declare that the man is dead. He quietly slips back and spots an open box that can't easily be looked into. He quietly climbs inside and stays low keeping his breathing quiet like he had practiced extensively so he is almost completely silent.
"Any of those boxes have any holes?" A voice questions and there is a flashlight beam that slightly goes to above where Kaoru is hiding.
"None. And there isn't anyone hiding around these boxes. If the bullet came from this direction then whoever did it already fled by the looks of it. I don't even hear anyone else nearby or see any movement in any of these boxes." Another voice explains before the flashlight beam disappears from Kaoru's sight.
"Then let us get going. The killer isn't in this room anymore." The first voice hisses sounding frustrated at this. "He or she cannot be allowed to escape!"
Many hurried footsteps dart off into several directions while Kaoru remains in his hiding spot.
Kaoru keeps his breathing low waiting even a little after things have quieted down in the room. He can't take the chance that one or more the guards are still there to watch for any sign of him coming from a hiding spot. He finally peeks out as little as possible spotting a guard that was left behind though has his back to the spot. He glances around for a good way to get out of this area without alerting the guard that stayed behind to watch the body. He sneaks quietly out of his hiding spot having to move slow to not make a sound. He carefully climbs down then ducks behind the stack of boxes just before the man turns around to glance to the stack.
"Hm." The man shrugs and turns back away to keep his eyes on the body.
Kaoru lets out a silent breath feeling like he dodged his own bullet there. He keeps low as he makes his way through the area. He gets to the door spot though he realizes that it'll be much harder to get past here without making a sound. He makes sure to close it carefully to try to not alert the guard in the room. He lets out a breath telling himself that he has got this. He carefully opens the door enough to allow him to slip through. He doesn't see anyone though he can hear some calls between guards further above. He slowly makes his way up the stairs keeping watch for anyone who will see him. He gets to the door and he turns feeling slight panic as he hears footsteps coming back down the stairs. He makes it for the door and slips out quickly yet quietly. He stays out of sight of any cameras as he makes his escape. He gets to the edge of an alley leading to a street that opens to crowds of people. He glances back hearing guards calling to each other to search this place. He turns back to the crowds and, after quickly making sure he isn't wearing anything suspicious but still covers his identity, quickly ducks into them trying to blend in as much as he can. He slightly glances the way he had come after stopping at a stand to look like a customer. He notices some guards stop to look around in the crowd so he turns his focus on the items before him. He leans close to one with a hand on his chin as if thinking that he is going to buy it.
"A good selection." The vendor speaks and shows an example of the cologne. "Popular with the ladies on this street."
Kaoru makes sure to make his voice sound different than it actually is. He had a lot of training for it knowing that it can come in handy for hiding if needed, without getting linked to being somewhere. "Oh? Well that is intriguing. Some of the ladies here are pretty good looking."
"Hey!" A man calls getting the vendor to turn with Kaoru slightly turning. "Did any of you see a suspicious person around here?"
"Only you. Running around looking ready for a fight." The vendor snorts back with his retort. "Now buzz off and go look for your shoplifter or whatever somewhere else. I would rather you not scare off my customers."
"It isn't a shoplifter! It is a murderer!"
"What? Well there goes my mood for tonight." Kaoru fakes shock in his changed voice. "Sorry man." He apologizes to the vendor then heads off as if planning to go home.
"Now see what you did!" The vendor groans to the man. "You scared away my customer! Murders aren't a new thing in this area! But that doesn't mean you need to go on announcing it! Can ruin a nice atmosphere here!"
Kaoru glances around trying to pretend to get back into the spirit of things as he feels eyes on him. He doesn't go too fast not wanting to appear suspicious at all. He makes a turn which hides him from view and he starts to make his way to his meeting spot for his pick up ride. He gets to the limo and heads inside sighing once he is inside.
The driver gets in then begins the drive back. "How was it young master?" He inquires while they are on the road.
"Job is done." Kaoru almost feels a bit tired as if some adrenaline is wearing off. "Totally different from practice."
"Well your parents will be happy that your first job was a success." The driver tells him and focuses on the road.
Kaoru hums in confirmation then he looks out the window as they continue the drive away. He wants to get back and rest after telling Hikaru about it. He almost thought he was going to get caught back there. He really hopes that no one recognized him. He doesn't want to be retaught some basics about not getting linked to the scene or area of the assassination.
"Oh. And young master? I have word from your father." The driver mentions suddenly causing Kaoru to blink at him wondering what it is. "He said that the pay of this job will be going to you. All of it. He said that since this is your job then you get to have the money that comes with completing it. It'll be all yours to decide what to do with. Your father said he will tell you any details about that tomorrow though said to tell you if everything goes smoothly."
Kaoru finds a slight smile coming to his face as that is a nice gesture. He almost thought that the money would go towards the family or some savings his parents have for their two sons. "Huh. Thanks for letting me know." He knows it may not seem like much since he comes from a rich family and can technically get whatever he wants whenever. However he actually feels happy at the gesture anyways. He feels like he really accomplished something and got an actual reward for what he had done. He hopes that Hikaru can make a deal with someone or sell a clothing item in order to get the same good feeling soon. He still will tell Hikaru about that part when he sees him. He doesn't doubt Hikaru is staying up to wait, though he wouldn't be upset if Hikaru got too tired and passed out.
