Phase 21: Operation Jaiver Pt 4
Leon is recalling what happened. "Manuela has told us everything she knew. When she was fifteen she contracted the same fatal disease that her mother had. The Veronica Virus was used as a form of treatment. She managed to recover and has strengthened her cells," Leon continues onwards.
However, the virus can severely damage its host's brain cells and if incompatible it will take them over. Even the Ashfords' researchers were unable to control the Veronica Virus. There seems to be no exception to this except Jaiver's treatment of his daughter. Somehow, he has managed to keep her from turning into a monster," Leon finished.
Leon and the gang were in the forest which is near Javier's compound covered with crates, sandbags, and trenches made to prepare for defenses against his enemies. "Gee, this place is covered with defenses," Leon said as he looked through his binoculars.
"Paranoid much," Makoto said.
"I know right, Jaiver made a lot of enemies to do all this," Ark said.
"Guys," Krauser said as he was watching over Manuela who was moaning in pain and holding her disfigured arm. The four agents regroup with Krauser looking quite serious. "We should take care of the girl before it gets too late," Krauser said as the three were taken aback by this.
"You can't be serious?" Ark asked.
"It's only a matter of time before she becomes a threat," Krauser said. They know what he said made logical sense but they withdraw from this opinion.
"Jaiver knows something. He has a way to prevent Manuela from transforming. We need to take her with us and find out how," Leon pulls out a PDA from his pouch to show it to Krauser.
Krauser looks down to read the text on the screen. "Anti-Virus Weapon Protocol number 7600. You three are on a special assignment for the president," Krauser said as he was surprised by this but held his stoic expression not showing this.
"Our mission is to destroy this virus once and for all. With your help sir, I intend to do just that," Leon said as Krauser put the PDA away to see that Leon has grown far beyond him.
"I am a soldier. And if your orders are from the president, then I'm on your side," Krauser said as he reached out with his hand and Leon took this hand to give him a firm handshake out of a sign of deep respect.
"Let's do this Krauser," Leon said as the men smiled at each other.
"Let's kick some ass, Rookie. No, let's kick some ass, Comrade," Krauser said, Leon is happy to hear his former mentor said this as they are both now equals.
"Okay Manuela let's do it," Leon said as the girl nodded her head feeling a bit weak.
"Okay," Manuela said as the group headed into the front section of the mansion compound.
"Gee, this place is very secure," Krauser said.
"Pretty tight here," Ark said.
"Maybe he doesn't like door salesman," Krauser said lightly.
"Yeah, better be extra careful," Leon said as he wielded his shotgun to hear the speakers come up.
"Welcome home Manuela and to my American friends. Please accept my sincere gratitude for returning my daughter. Now get my daughter and kill the Americans," Jaiver said as his grunts are now zombies beginning to swarm.
"Oh no," Manuela said as his army the Sacred Snakes had become zombies.
"Gee, is this old man insane," Makoto said as she used her M1A to shoot off the heads of the incoming zombies.
Krauser lobs grenades from his HK69A1 to blow up a group of enemies turning them into piles of gore. He switches to his MAR to set it on a three-round burst to tear into zombies.
"I mean, he turned his private army into zombies," Leon splits in half zombies with his PM-5 pump action shotgun.
"Yeah that was a stupid question," Makoto said as she kicked the zombie in the knee and sliced off his head with her Tanto. She noticed the zombie had a MAC-10 on his belt along with ammo. "Just what I needed," she said as she slung her rifle onto her back. She uses the machine pistol to pepper the zombies with rapid-fire bullets.
Ark uses his M16K-45 to pop out the heads with precise shots. Then a crate bust opens to see some of the zombies have a belt of grenades on them. "Seriously?" Ark questioned this as Leon fired at a zombie to trigger the grenades to take out a group of zombies.
"We can use this to our advantage," Leon said as they triggered grenade explosions to clear the way to the mansion. They go through a set of crates to see Hunter Gamma 1s trying to ambush them from above but Leon and Krauser blast through the monsters with ease to see zombies popping out of the crates and back of trucks.
Leon tosses a flame grenade to set the zombies on fire to see them crash onto the ground burning away their flesh. They see the gate to the mansion to see more zombies coming out of the crate.
"Oh, look the welcoming party," Krauser said,
"Oh, they shouldn't have," Leon said as Krauser took them out with a grenade round. They get to the gate to see it's locked up tight.
"Shit, we can't get through here," Ark said.
"We can take an underground passage over there," Manuela said as she pointed to a door that leads to the underground sections of the mansion.
"Time to move," Makoto said as they saw more Hunter Gamma 1s blocking their path. They dodge their leashing tongues as they shoot them dead. They run towards the door with the zombies coming up behind them. They enter inside and block the door with heavy boxes.
"That should keep them out," Leon said as the five go into the depths of the basement of the mansion to see it's quite dark inside. They hear the moans of the prisoners down here.
"Gee, what is this?" Makoto wondered as they saw several cells filled with zombies unable to break out of there.
"Is this some sort of B.O.W. storage room?" Krauser wondered.
"Seems like it," Leon said.
"Well, let's not wait around for inventory," Krauser said as they didn't get too close to the cells. Suddenly doors come out of the floor to block them in this section.
"Oh no," Leon said as Manuela screamed to see the cells open up to let the zombies out trying to reach and bite them.
"Gee, another one of Jaiver's traps," Ark said as he tore through the zombies with pistol rounds. Ark kicks the head of a zombie into a wall to turn it into red mush.
"Very little light here," Makoto said as she used her MAC-10 machine pistol to pump the zombies filled with rounds to drop them dead on the floor.
Leon is blasting zombies apart with his shotgun to slip a new magazine into the gun. Krauser finishes off the last group with a grenade round leaving the sealed hallway empty beside them.
"What now? We are sealed up in here," Krauser wondered as Manuela looked over a panel with a golden snake symbol on it.
"This is," she presses the panel to make a hidden door appear.
"Good job kid," Krauser said.
"Good work Manuela," Leon said as Manuela smiled at him.
"My pleasure, oh my," Manuela said as she felt like throwing up to see a hallway filled with dead bodies and gore smeared onto the walls.
"Gee, Jaiver's victims," Leon said.
"This guy is insane," Makoto said.
"This is Jaiver, we are talking about," Ark said as the five walked through the terrible smell and piles of human bodies attached to the walls.
"So many tight corners," Makoto said as they heard moaning nearby.
"More zombies, get ready," Leon said as several zombies appeared for them to shoot them to take them out. They approach a door that has the same gold snake symbol as before. They press it and allows them to go into another storage room with no creatures in sight.
"Good, more no zombies or gore rooms like in some horror movie," Leon said as they noticed the room was getting sealed again. "Oh no, not again," he said as they saw the wall coming down. They all slide under the wall to be lucky enough to get through sealing off behind them.
"Oh boy, something out of an Indiana Jones film," Leon said as they spotted a ladder nearby. "Come on, let's go up," Leon said as the five got up to be within the mansion itself.
"Fancy digs here," Ark said as Manuela was surprised to see a group of men dead on the floor.
"Who are these guys?" Krauser asked.
They were my doctors. It's my fault. I made them tell me how they cured my illness. Then father…" Manuela is holding back her sadness with so many people dying because of her.
"It's not your fault. It's your father who is at fault here," Leon trying to comfort her as Manuela is getting meek from Leon's kindness.
"Thank you for your concern Leon," Manuela said.
"Where do we go?" Ark asked.
"We can go to a place where Father told me never to go to," Manuela said as they headed for a door that she was leading there.
"Time to head there," Leon said as they went through the door to be in a large greenhouse.
"So much green here," Makoto said as they were in a domed area with a big plant bulb in the middle of the building.
"Seems like a greenhouse here," Ark said.
"Seems more like a botanical garden," Krauser said as he spotted the blub. "The hell is that?" Krauser asked as Manuela didn't know what it was either.
They walk through the greenhouse to see moaning to see Plant 43s coming their way spitting out acid at the group. "More of these walking plants," Makoto said as they moved out of the way to open fire on the plant monsters.
"Watch out for the acid," Leon warned as he saw a few more on top of the platform shooting down globs of acid trying to get them. Krauser aims his rifle to put rounds into the heads of the plant monsters. Ark tosses a flame grenade to set the plant beasts on fire to burn them to crisp.
"Gee, we need to get out of plant hellscape," Leon said as they walked towards the stairs to see the researcher they were looking for.
"Seems like this our guy," Krauser said as the researcher was now dead on the floor.
"That's the former researcher from Umbrella. Shit, we needed to question him," Leon said as they walk up the stairs to cross a bridge over the pond in the middle of the greenhouse.
"Well, he's no good to us now," Krauser said as he saw Plant 43 enemies as they spit acid at them from down below.
"Gee, this is so annoying," Makoto said as a Jabberwock S3 jumped onto the bridge trying to slice them up. Leon blocks the lunge with his knife as he kicks the beast back.
"More trouble," Makoto said as she used her M1A to blast away the Plant 43s on the ground below. Leon fires a buckshot to strike the Jabberwock S3 in the face to put it down. Krauser aids Makoto in wiping up Plant 43s to clear the way.
"The door is close by," Ark said as it was covered with Plant 43s and two Jabberwock S3s blocking their way.
"We got trouble," Makoto said as she put bullets into the heads of the Jabberwock S3s with Krauser tossing flame rounds to burn away the Plant 43s.
"Time to get out of here," Leon said as Jabberwock S3s appeared again for them to go through the doors.
"Elevator at the other side," Ark said as the five rushed towards the lift with several enemies behind them. They leap into the elevator to press the button and leave the mutants behind.
"Good grief," Leon said as they exited out to be within a large warehouse.
"What is this place?" Ark asked.
"It's not the guest room that's for sure," Krauser said as Leon could see a FAMAS G2 within a crate having a Holo Sight.
"Nice find," Makoto said as Leon took the bullpup rifle along with some ammo.
"Leon look," Manuela said as she pointed to a bunch of Anubis crawling on the walls around them.
"Gee, take cover between the crates," Leon said as they opened fire with the limber monsters landing around them shooting the monsters up.
"So annoying," Makoto uses her MAC-10 SMG to pepper the beasts to take out using his new FAMAS to burst fire to knock out the Anubis creatures off the walls. They managed to clear out the warehouse.
They see in the corner white sheets blocking the view of what's inside the room. "What's in there, I got a bad feeling about this," Leon said as they went through the sheets to see it was a lab that held jars of various organs.
"These are all organs but from where?" Krauser wondered as Leon looked over to see rows of dead teenage girls. Flashes of the missing girl posters go through his mind.
"These are all the missing girls from the village," Leon said as Manuela was on her knees, groaning in pain. "Manuela," Leon goes over to check on her as the ex-drug load walks into the room with his magnum in his hand.
"Her organs must be transplanted regularly," Jaiver said as Ark, Makoto, and Krauser aimed their guns at him.
"What are you talking about?" Ark asked.
"It helps with the pain, keeping the virus at bay. But that is only for the first 15 years," Jaiver said as Manuela was shaking in pain within Leon's arms.
"If you had just let me die. None of this would have happened," Manuela has intense guilt over all the girls being killed to keep the Vernonia virus within her in check.
"No, I couldn't just watch you die. In nature, the predators who prey on others only grow strongest and thrive" Jaiver tries to justify all the deaths around the region to keep his daughter alive with Leon disgusted with this.
"You are a crazy, selfish old fool," he said.
"Come to think about it. Who told you this?" Ark asked.
"A mutual friend from a rival company. Albert Wesker," Jaiver smiled as everyone beside Krauser where shocked by this.
"Wesker gave you the Veronica virus," Ark said as Krauser was clueless about this.
"Since you were able to bring my daughter back, I will give your death meaning," Jaiver said as the area shook with him backing away.
"Hey, come back here. We are not done talking," Leon said as a huge aquatic mutant appeared for them all to see it was the same monster from the church in the village.
"We fought that creature by the church," Krauser said as they saw this creature had the same wound from a section of the building breaking an opening in its armored shell.
"Bullets will not work. We need to nail it in that exposed spot," Leon said as he fired shots into the exposed area making the beast wince in pain. The big mutant is swinging its tentacles to smash through crates and boxes.
"Gee," Ark rolls away from the blobs of acid spit from the aquatic monster. He puts rounds from his M16K-45 to tear into the exposed spot making the beast wince in pain. "Gee, it's going to cover its weak point," Ark said as the monster raised its head trying to avoid getting hit there again.
"We need to get higher ground," Leon said as they looked up to see platforms to gain some height.
"Good idea," Makoto said as Leon held Manuela back.
"Manuela stand in there. Don't come out," Leon said as they climbed up the crates to get onto the platforms hanging from the ceiling. Krauser lobs a grenade to knock the monster backward but tanks the grenade. The Aquatic beast is launching bony spikes from its back as Leon dodges the projectile.
The mutant leaps onto one of the platforms to gain some height but Leon shoots the chains holding up the platform to make the monster fall onto the ground.
"Got them, nail its ass," Makoto said as they pump lead into the exposed spot to see it getting weaker.
The beast gets up and sends out bone spikes to strike the platforms to make them fall. The four fall onto the floor to get roughed up as the aquatic monster walks towards them. Then Manuela starts to sing her favorite song as the monster pauses to stare at Manuela.
"Manuela," Leon shouted with his voice filled with worry as the girl knelt on the floor.
"I am ok. I don't know why, but if I sing this song, it won't attack me," Manuela said as the monster began to get aggressive again after Manuela stopped singing.
"Oh no. Guys, let's do this," Leon said as they opened fire with the beast getting more aggressive for them to get higher ground onto the platforms to be jumping around shooting its weak point.
It begins shooting bone spikes and acid destroy hanging platforms but the four manage to stay on their toes against this aquatic monster.
"This thing is pissing me off," Krauser said as they are seeing their attacks weakening it with Krauser using his last grenade round to damage the monster. Makoto pumps shots from her M1A into the weak point as it leads onto a platform above.
Leon nails a third round burst into the soft point as the beast tumbles and falls onto the ground looking very weakened. "Is it over?" Krauser wondered as they led down onto the ground.
"Come on, we need to catch up to Jaiver," Leon said as the five went toward the door. Then the beast roared to life to shoot out rows of bony spikes.
Krauser is using his Galil MAR to dig into the weakened monster's body as one of the spikes manages to nail Krauser in the arm. He holds back a scream as blood is rushing out of her wound.
"Krauser," Leon said as all four of them unloaded onto the beast for it fell onto the floor too weak to fight anymore. Krauser pulls out the big spike out of his arm as Leon looks concerned. "Are you okay?" he asked.
"It's nothing," Krauser said as it was clear to everyone that his arm was beyond messed up and looked unusable. He will not be able to use his weapons but his pistol for self-defense.
Manuela goes up to the monster and the creature gently strokes her cheek in a caring way. "Mother?" Manuela asked as the monster's eyes lost their light and closed their eyes shedding a tear seeing her daughter one last time. The limb goes limp as Manuela is overwhelmed with emotion but trying to hold back her tears.
The others beside Krauser look on with sympathy to see the monster was Manuela's mother the whole time turned into a monster by Jaiver's twisted desire to keep Manuela alive. "I don't want to live if it means others have to die," Manuela said as Makoto began to patch up Krauser with Manuela giving her a few minutes to grieve for her dead mutant mother.
Elsewhere Jaiver is within his greenhouse to approach the large Veronica flower bud in the middle. "I should have done this sooner," Jaiver said with a laugh to drop his gun and walk towards the infected plant.
"Stupid Americans. You think you can defeat it, don't you? But you forget when you look into the depths of the abyss. It swallows you whole," Jaiver said as he let himself be devoured by the Veronica plant for the last battle of Operation Jaiver is about to begin.
