An older woman is leading a young woman through the tunnels. The older one has clothes that are cobbled together and the younger one is wearing a worn blue Victorian gown. The tunnels are lit by a sickly green glow and are cluttered with flotsam and jetsam. They arrive in a large cavern where a man wearing a tattered Confederate Army is waiting.
"Will it be me, Uncle?" The younger one, Idris, asked,
"Yes, it's going to be you," Uncle replied. "I only wish I could go in your place, Idris. Nah, I don't, cos it's really going to hurt."
An Ood, Nephew, with green eyes grips her arm.
"It's starting," she noticed as the Odd guided her to a small platform. Underneath the grate glows green. "What will happen?"
"Oh. Um, er, Nephew will drain your mind and your soul from your body and leave your body empty," the older woman, Auntie, responded, while Nephew placed a hand on either side of her head.
"I'm scared!" She cries as smoke begins to rise from the great and Idris gasps for breath, falling to her knees.
"I expect so, dear. But soon you'll have a new soul. There'll be a Time Lord coming!"
Just as Idris starts losing her consciousness, a sudden light appears not far from them, showing a brown-haired boy with green hoodie, still screaming. "Mum!"
"I got it," Uncle quickly said and grabbed the boy in a hurry before he could escape—
When out of nowhere, Idris sits up with a gasp. Artron energy escapes from her open mouth as she makes a noise that sounds very familiar to everyone here. Uncle, Auntie, and Arthur watch as Idris raises her hands to see the yellow glow. "He's here," she muttered, glancing at Arthur. Her face suddenly turned into rage. "Get away from Sunny, you old twat!" She snapped, beating Uncle to release Arthur. In sudden surprise, Uncle let go of Arthur and in a hurry, she takes the boy's hand and takes him away.
"Wait!" Arthur breathed. He had no idea what's going on. Other than he arrived here, grabbed by some old man, and this woman takes him somewhere else. "I-I don't think I understand—"
"He's here! Don't you feel it, Sunny?!"
"Who?" He asked again before finding his answers in front of him. "Oh."
"Thief! Thief!" She pointed at the Doctor, who looked absolutely baffled. "You're my thief!"
"She's dangerous! Guard yourselves!" Auntie told them from behind.
"No, she's not!" Arthur insisted, shaking his head so they believed him. He had a hunch that these two people are very, very bad people, and they had done something to Idris.
"Look at you! Goodbye! No, not goodbye. Oh I know!" Idris quickly smacks the Doctor's shoulder. "That's for being rude!"
"Rude?!" The Doctor yelped while Auntie and Uncle pulled Idris away from him. Idris, in response, gestured to Arthur to stay close to the Doctor, Rory, and Amy. Which he did quietly. "I'm never rude to anyone!"
"You're always rude to Sunny!" Idris retorted, shocking the Doctor and confusing Amy and Rory.
"Watch out. Careful. Keep back from her," Uncle remarked before greeting them. "Welcome, strangers, lovely. Sorry about the mad person."
"Why am I a thief? What have I stolen? And why did you call Arthur Sunny?" The Doctor demanded, rubbing his shoulder. River also calls him Sunny, which confuses the hell out of him. Why does this strange woman suddenly act like she knows them?!"
"Me. You're going to steal me. No, you have stolen me. You are stealing me." Idris glances at Arthur. "Tenses are difficult, aren't they? I'm SO glad those visions help you better than I do."
Arthur gaped. "How did you—"
"She's off her head," Auntie interjected. "They call me Auntie," she introduced, shaking everyone's hand.
"I'm Uncle. I'm everybody's uncle. Just keep back from this one, she bites!"
"Do I? Excellent!" Idris claims and bites the Doctor's left ear. Everyone quickly tries to separate both of them, except Arthur, who looks at Idris with curiosity. There's something about her that makes him safe, that he feels like… like he can trust her. "Oh, biting's excellent!" She remarked after Uncle and Auntie grabbed her while the Doctor rubbed his left ear. "It's like kissing, only there's a winner!"
"Sorry. She's doolally," Uncle said.
"No, I'm not doolally. I'm... I'm… It's on the tip of my tongue." She looks around and looks at Arthur. "Oh! Sunny! You can help! You always have some good intuition. Try to fill in!"
"Uhm," Arthur looks at everyone with uncertainty. "I'm… not sure I know exactly," he confessed. Really, he had no idea! Just because he can see the future, that doesn't mean he can always see them all the time! "But I know I can trust you."
Idris smiles. "Of course you can trust me, my Sunny." Idris frowns, glancing at the Doctor with sudden seriousness. "Oh, but now you're angry. No, you're not. You will be angry. The little boxes will make you angry."
"Sorry? The little what? Boxes?" The Doctor repeated.
The Doctor hears murmuring voices and turns around. A cabinet is set into the wall. He opens the door to see it filled with the glowing boxes. The voices are louder.
They are all cries for help.
That's not good.
"It's not, Sunny," Idris agreed, as if she heard what he just thought.
"What did you say?" Rory asked, confused by Idris' sudden words.
"It means the smell of dust after rain," she suddenly remarked.
"What does?"
"Petrichor."
"But I didn't ask."
"Not yet. But you will."
"Crimson. Eleven. Delight. Petrichor," Idris informed as her surroundings are shaking and unstable.
"Keep that in mind," Arthur told Rory.
"Why?" Amy asked.
Before Arthur can explain more, Auntie interrupts him by saying, "No, Idris, I think you should have a rest."
"Yes, yes, good idea! I'll just see if there's an off switch," Idris wondered before losing her consciousness and slump to the ground. The Doctor and Arthur quickly kneel beside her, checking her condition.
"Is that it? She dead now. So sad," Uncle stated, but doesn't sound genuine at all.
"No, you old twat, she's just tired!" Arthur huffed. He's starting to get irritated by them.
"Nephew, take Idris somewhere she can not bite people."
"Oh, hello!" The Doctor said.
"Doctor, what is that?" Amy frowns.
"Oh, no, it's alright. It's an Ood. Oods are good. Love an Ood. Hello, Ood. Can't you talk?"
"It's damaged," Arthur noticed, distracting himself from looking at the Ood. He didn't like Nephew. His green eyes, for instance. Gives him some creepy feeling. Not to mention, the way this Ood moves. As if he's… watching him.
"Nephew was broken when he came here," Auntie explained. "Why, he was half dead. House repaired him. House repaired all of us."
The Doctor fixes the translator and a message comes over it. All voices, all Time Lords, calling for help, sounded absolutely afraid and stressful, before Nephew quickly shut off the translator.
"What was that?" Rory asked. "Was that him?"
"Who?" Arthur repeated.
"No, no, it's picking up something else," the Doctor shared. "But that's... That's not possible. That's... Who else is here?" He looks at Uncle and Aunt. "Tell me. Show me! Show me!"
"Just what you see. It's just the five of us, and the House," Auntie shrugged. "Nephew, will you take Idris somewhere safe where she can't hurt nobody?"
"House, as in, the landlord?" Arthur guessed, keeping an eye at Nephew who picks up Idris and takes her away. He needs to make an opening to get her out. Something tells him that Idris knows more than she let out.
"Indeed," she agreed while Uncle jumped up and down. "You are standing on him. "Would you like to meet him?"
"Meet him?!" Rory repeated.
"I'd love to," the Doctor noted.
"This way. Come, please. Come," Uncle said, showing them the way as they head back inside.
"What's wrong? What were those voices?" Amy mumbled.
"Time Lords. It's not just the Corsair," the Doctor exclaimed. "Somewhere close by there are lots and lots of... Time Lords."
As the three of them follow Uncle and Auntie, Arthur quietly takes another path. That is, the place where Nephew took Idris.
▪︎▪︎▪︎
Following people secretly was not one of Arthur's strong suits. Especially with a place of this size filled with junk in every corner that made Arthur sick to his stomach. Arthur also had to be careful not to make a sound as he followed Nephew who was leading Idris to a cage.
He stayed hidden on a pile of junk near the cage. He needs a plan to distract Nephew. But what can he do? Throwing garbage from afar? Nah, he's not good with navigation. And even if he did, it will take a matter of minutes before he returns and gets him in the process of trying to rescue Idris.
Think, Arthur. Think! What would the Doctor do?
The boy watches Nephew from afar, and is momentarily confused when Nephew just leaves the cage and walks somewhere else. He knows this might be a trap, but he needs to get to Idris quickly.
Quietly, he walks to the cage, finding Idris already woken up and starts speaking gibberish. "Do fish have fingers? Like a nine year old trying to rebuild a motorbike. Demons run when a good man goes to war. No more. No more."
"Idris?" Arthur called.
"Sunny!" She frowns. "Why are you here? Where's my thief?" She starts shouting. "Thief! Thief!"
"Wait, Idris, stop! You might get Nephew's attention!"
"Nonono, he won't mind us. There's something else he should do." Idris tilts her head before shaking her head. "You can't get me out. Not without Thief."
"You mean, the Doctor."
"You've been avoiding him."
"I really don't," Arthur disagreed. He's not avoiding the Doctor. "Why would I?"
"Because those monsters. The Weeping Angels," Idris sighs, looking teary. "They took my Thief away from you. Mocking you. Laughing at you." Her eyes blazed with fire. "They think they can take you, Orangey, and Pretty away from him. From me. And they had the nerve to torment you for that. After taking my grandson away from me!"
Arthur grips the cage much tighter. "Grandson?" He mumbled, looking at Idris with more questions. "Wait, I'm related to you?!"
Idris looks ready to answer, but closes her mouth, seems like decided not to speak more. When Arthur opens his mouth to ask her for that, he hears a quick footsteps behind.
"Arthur! Arthur!" The Doctor yelled and hugged him. "You idiot! I almost had a double heart attack when I realised you're not with me! Did you always do this to me?"
"I only want to get her out," Arthur explained after he let go of him.
The Doctor narrows his eyes at her while shielding Arthur away from her, afraid that she might attack the boy like she did to him. "How did you know about the boxes? You said they'd make me angry. How did you know? And why did you have an interest in Arthur?"
"Ah, it's my thief," Idris denoted, raising her eyebrow. "Took you long enough."
"Who are you?"
"It's about time."
"Who are you?"
"Do you not know me? Both of you? Just because they put me in here?"
"They said you were dangerous."
"They are a bunch of liars," Arthur quipped with distaste. "You can't trust them."
"Exactly!" Idris nods, agreeing as she puts a hand on either side of her face. "They put me in here. I'm the…"
"The Tardis," the brunette boy suddenly stated. "You're…the Tardis, aren't you? Time and relative dimension in space."
"No. She's not! She's a bitey, mad lady. The TARDIS is up and downy stuff in a big blue box."
"Oh, I can see why the water girl was so upset with you," Idris rolls her eyes. The fact that Arthur can be patient with her thief with that sort of attitude is a big mystery. "Yes, I'm the Tardis. A type 40 Tardis. I was already a museum piece, when you were young, and the first time you touched my console you said…"
"I said, 'you were the most beautiful thing I had ever known,'" the Doctor recalled.
"And then you stole me. And I stole you."
"I borrowed you."
"Borrowing implies the eventual intention to return the thing that was taken. What makes you think I would ever give you back?"
"You're the Tardis?"
"Yes."
"My Tardis?"
"My Doctor and Sunny. Oh! We have now reached the point in the conversation where you open the lock."
Still on guard, the Doctor ushers Arthur to stay behind as he uses he sonic on the lock and the woman steps out. She studies both of their faces. "Are all people like this?"
"Like what?" the Doctor asked.
"Bigger on the inside," Arthur added, somehow managing to catch up with Idris' thought. The Time Vortex inside of Arthur must have sensed a familiarity with Idris—AKA the Tardis. And Idris just mentioned him as her 'grandson'. Which means… he's related to the TARDIS?! Having a sentient time machine as the grandmother of a human that turned into a Time Lord… Is that even possible?!
"But why? Why pull the living soul from a Tardis and pop it in a tiny human head? What does it want you for?"
"It doesn't want her, because House eats Tardises."
The Doctor looks at Arthur. "House what? What do you mean?"
"It's something we heard you say," Idris remarked, circling both of them.
"When?"
"In the future."
"House eats Tardises?" the Doctor repeated.
"And fish fingers," Arthur added. "In 3… 2… 1…"
"Of course! House feeds on rift energy and Tardises are bursting with it. And not raw. All lovely and cooked, processed food… Mmm, fish fingers."
Idris glances at Arthur. "Do fish have fingers?"
"Generally, no."
"But you can't eat a Tardis," the Doctor argued. "it would destroy you. Unless, unless…"
"Unless you deleted the Tardis' matrix first," Arthur continued. "But doing that is dangerous, since it would blow a hole in the universe."
"So he pulls out the matrix, sticks it in a living receptacle and feeds off the remaining Artron energy," Idris finished with a gasp. "You were about to say all that. I don't suppose you have to now."
He quickly pulls out the phone. "I sent Amy and Rory in there. They'll be eaten. Amy! Amy! Rory, get the hell out of there!" He yelled, running through the tunnels.
"Wait!" Idris quickly stops Arthur from running with the Doctor. "Let him go. Besides, you want to talk to me, aren't you?"
Arthur wants to argue, but he soon realises that whatever Idris wants with him… it might give him some clear picture. "Then, tell me," he pleaded, "How exactly you're my grandmother?"
"Oh, that's simple!" she beamed as they took a slow walk. "Your mother was conceived in the Time Vortex, so naturally, when you were born, you had one. With that logic, you are my grandson."
"My mum was what?!" He repeated in shock.
"Your grandparents didn't know any better. She looks ordinary on the outside, but extremely unique on the inside. When your mother knows about you, she and the Doctor did their best to adjust your biological body before your birth. Having a Time Vortex inside of a human or Time Lord's body is very dangerous, so they need extra precautions on you. Locking your Time Lord biology until you're 11, sending you to an orphanage, keeping secrets about your true power… all of those they did, they did because they love you."
"Can the Time Vortex inside of me… be removed permanently?"
Arthur soon regrets it as Idris grips his shoulder with absolute panic. "No, Sunny. You mustn't do that. Removing the Time Vortex inside of you is like… like removing your brain. It's a part of you that you must intact. Without it… you will die." She soon claps her hand on his. "Time Vortex is what keeps you alive. So you can't overuse your power beyond time travelling. You were lucky that my daughter, Bad Wolf, was keeping an eye on you when your power went overboard in the Temple of Atropos."
"Bad Wolf is your daughter?" Arthur interjects as they're in a cavern where Uncle and Auntie are sitting down like a low-battery machine.
"Spoiler," she winked, telling Arthur that that's all he can know. "But back to my point. You need to use the Time Vortex when the time's right, Sunny. And when you do, use it properly. Now, if I'm not mistaken, Thief should be here at any moment."
On a cue, the Doctor hurriedly arrived. He looks upset. "It's gone!" He exclaimed.
"Eaten?" Idris guessed.
"No, it left. Not eaten, hi-jacked. But why?"
"It's time for us both to go, and keep together," Auntie suddenly blurted beside them.
"What do you mean by that?!" Arthur demanded. "Where are you going?"
"Well, we're dying, kiddo. It's time for Auntie and Uncle to pop off."
"I'm against it," Uncle huffed.
"It's your fault, isn't it, sweets? Cos you told House it was the last TARDIS. House can't feed on them if there's none more coming, can he?"
"So now he's off to your universe to find more Tardises."
"But there aren't any," Arthur protested. "They are all gone!"
Auntie waves her hand. "Oh, it will think of something," she suspected before falling over with a groan and the Doctor rushes to check for a pulse.
"Actually, I feel fine," Uncle realised, trying to stand up before shutting down as well.
"Not dead. You can't just die!" The Doctor disagreed.
"Then, we better follow them!" Arthur insists as he takes the Doctor and Idris' hand and drags them into an open field.
Idris stops walking as she hissed in pain. "Roughly, how long do these bodies last?"
The Doctor quickly scans her body. "You're dying," he muttered.
"Yes, of course I'm dying," Idris remarked as she held Arthur's hand in hers. "I don't belong in a flesh body. I could blow the casing in no time. No, stop it, don't get emotional. That's what the orangey girl says. You're the Doctor. Focus."
"The junk around us," Arthur gestures at the junk on their surroundings, "some of them are part of the Tardis. Which means—"
"It's a TARDIS junkyard!" He yelled, beam up as he headed for the exit. "Come on," he suggested, then stopped. "Oh, sorry, do you have a name?"
"700 years, finally he asks," Idris rolls her eyes.
"But what do I call you?"
"I think you call me... Sexy."
The Doctor looks bewildered. "Only when we're alone!" He hissed before taking them by the hand and ran out, across the surface of the planet, while scanning with the sonic screwdriver. They climb atop a mound and look down on a collection of varied ships.
"A valley of half-eaten Tardises," the Doctor looks around. "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
"I'm thinking that all of my sisters are dead. That they were devoured, and that we are looking at their corpses," Idris responded.
"Ah. Sorry. No, I wasn't thinking that."
"No. You were thinking you could build a working Tardis console out of broken remnants of a hundred different models. And you don't care that it's impossible."
"It's not impossible as long as we are alive. Rory and Amy need me. So, yeah, we're gonna build a Tardis."
Suddenly, Arthue began to curl up, taking a few steps back. He felt a deep pain as he smelled a new, disgusting odour. His body was burning hot, while his head felt like it had been steamed over 100 times, hurting him in the most unfathomable way.
Before he could react, his vision turned bright and he was standing in a dark corridor that he recognized as the Tardis. To his surprise, he found Amy and Rory standing in front of him, looking surprised with his face. "What—?"
"No time!" Rory interrupted and grabbed his hand as the three of them kept running.
Then, a door slides closed, separating Amy and Arthur away from Rory, who's still on the opposite side. "No! Amy! Arthur!" Rory yelled.
"Rory!" Arthur shouted as he and Amy tried to pry open the door. But nothing happened.
On Amy's side, they hear a tired voice calling Amy's name. They run down the corridor and see Rory sitting on the floor by the closed door. "Rory?" She called.
Rory gets up and hugs her. "Where have you been?"
"We stepped through that door and it came down here."
"But you've been hours!"
"House," Arthur realised, looking around. "He's messing with us! We need to hurry!"
They run and House plays the same trick. This time, closing the door in front of Rory and Arthur. "No!" The man snapped.
"Another route!" Arthur suggested and they both take another path to get Amy.
After several turns, they hear a screaming voice that belongs to Amy.
"Oh no!" Rory mumbled as he and Arthur hurriedly ran faster to the source of the noise. What they find is beyond cruel.
They're scrawled on the walls in a violent hand. Some of it has words like HATE AMY, KILL AMY, and DIE AMY. From a corner, there's a skeleton lying, wearing Rory's clothes.
"Amy!" Rory shouted as he kneels beside her, shocking the ginger to see him alive. "It's not real, Amy. Look, I'm here."
Arthur frowns in distaste as the illusion went down. That is messed up. Way messed up.
"We need to go," Arthur reminded them and they quickly run again.
▪︎▪︎▪︎
The three of them are climbing up a ladder when Arthur puts a hand to his head in pain, finding a vision of Idris looking at him. "Hello, Sunny!" She cheered.
"Arthur, what's wrong?" Rory asked, worried.
"A mental message," he assured them. "Idris?"
The Doctor butts into the vision. "Arthur, we're coming! Just stay safe with Amy and Rory! House knows about your power and he intends to absorb it by sending you back to the ship!"
"You have to go to the old control room. I'm putting the route in your head," Idris explained. "When you get there, use the purple slider on the nearest panel to lower the shields. You'll have about 12 seconds before the room goes into phase with the invading Matrix. I'll send you the passkey when you get there. Good luck!"
Arthur gasps. "Follow me!" He orders as he quickly climbs the stairs, leaving Amy and Rory in confusion as they both follow the young Time Lord.
▪︎▪︎▪︎
They walk through the corridors and Amy stops short. "What happened to the lights?" She asked.
"The lights are fine," Arthur frowns before his eyes go wide. "Oh no."
"It's messing with our heads again," Rory concluded.
Arthur gulps as Nephew walks into the corridor. "It's Nephew," he whispered. "Amy, grab Rory's hand."
"Why?" She asked, grabbing her husband's hand.
Arthur quietly takes a bottle of water from his backpack and without further thinking, he tosses it to Nephew, causing the possessed Ood to stagger a little. "RUN!"
They run as Nephew follows from behind.
"I can see now, Rory. I can see!" Amy said with relief.
"It was the Ood thing, the Nephew and it's still coming," Rory informed.
"I know."
They stop at a locked door as Arthur looks at it. "This is it," he realised as he got the passkey and quietly remembered it.
Crimson. The red flannel shirt he currently wears.
Eleven. The 11th birthday he celebrates in Asgard with the 11th Doctor and River.
Delight. The delight to see the wonder of the universe and the adventures he had.
Petrichor. The smell of rain that he inhaled when he's sitting near a window in his orphanage room.
The doors slide open and they rush inside, running up the ramp in the darkened room.
"What is this place? Another control room?" Amy wondered.
"This is the previous console room," Arthur explained as Arthur pushes a button to shield down the Tardis.
"How did you find this place?" House demanded. 'It's not on my internal schematics. I had hoped you two could join Nephew as my servants. But you two are nothing but trouble." The door opens and Nephew enters. "Nephew... leave the child alive, but kill the rest."
Amy and Rory are backing away, shielding Arthur away from Nephew when Arthur gets another telepathic message.
"We're coming through. Get out of the way or you'll be atomised!" Idris warned.
"Eh, where exactly are you coming through?" Arthur asked.
The Doctor gives awkward shrugs, which Idris translates as, "I don't know."
The boy gulps as Nephew takes closer steps. They're all gonna die now.
"Hold on!" Rory shouted, holding onto the rail while AMY grabbed onto the nearest buttress. Both are still keeping Arthur behind them as the other console materialises by the ramp, showing the Doctor and Idris.
Amy smiles. "Doctor!"
He gets up and hugs her.
Idris stands slowly, her face looking pale than before. "Not good. Not good at all," Idris muttered as Arthur and the Doctor helped her sit. "How do you walk around in these things?"
"We're not quite there yet... just hold on. Amy, this is... Well, she's my Tardis. Except she's a woman. She's a woman… and she's my Tardis."
Amy points her finger at Idris, looking dumbfounded. "She's the Tardis?!" She repeated.
"And she's a woman. She's a woman… and she's the Tardis."
"Did you wish really hard?"
"Shut up! Not like that."
"Hello. I'm... Sexy," Idris introduced, causing Arthur to snort lightly.
"Still shut up," the Doctor insisted.
"The environment has been breached. Nephew, kill them all," House commanded.
"Where's Nephew?" Rory wondered while they looked around for the Ood.
"He turned into air, which means," Arthur winces and covers his mouth. "We're technically breathing him."
"Eugh!" Amy reacted.
"Another Ood I failed to save," the Doctor solemnly said.
"Doctor, I did not expect you."
"Well, that's me all over, isn't it? Lovely old unexpected me."
"The big question is, now you're here, how to dispose of you? I could play with gravity…"
They all fall down, fighting the pull until House releases it. Idris collapses on her own and Arthur and Rory go to her side, checking her condition.
"Or I could evacuate the air from this room and watch you choke."
They gasp for breath.
"You really don't want to do that!" The Doctor pointed out as the air returned.
"Why shouldn't I just kill you now?"
"Because then I won't be able to help you! Listen to your engines. Just listen to them. You don't have the thrust and you know it. I'm your only hope for getting out of your little bubble, through the rift, and into my universe. And mine's the one with the food in! You just have to promise not to kill us. That's all, just promise."
Idris whispers to Arthur. "The only water in the forest is the river."
"Except they don't have a word for Pond, because the only water in the forest is the River," River shared to Amy and Rory with a grey-silver dress.
"I don't understand. There isn't a forest in here," Rory said.
"You can't be serious," Amy remarked.
"I'm very serious. I'm sure it's an entity of its word."
"Doctor, she's burning up," Rory informed, checking her temperature from her forehead.
The man kneels and takes Idris' hand and strokes her face. "Hey. Hang in there, old girl. Not long now. It'll be over soon."
She smiles. "I always liked it when you call me... old girl."
The Doctor glances at Arthur. "Stay on her side," he pleaded with a kind tone.
"I will," he promised.
"You want me to give my word?" House asked. "Easy. I promise."
"Fine. Okay. I trust you. Just delete, ooh, 30% of the TARDIS rooms, you'll free up thrust enough to make it through. Activate sub-routine Sigma-9."
"Demons run… when a good man goes to war," she muttered, gripping Arthur's hand as Rory looked more helpless with her situation.
"Don't talk," Arthur begged. "Just hang on, okay?"
"But you must know… both of you… must know…"
"Yes. I can delete rooms," House remarked. "And I can also rid myself of vermin if I delete this room first. Thank you, Doctor. Very helpful. Goodbye, Time Lords. Goodbye, little humans. Goodbye, Idris."
The room start to get brighter—
▪︎▪︎▪︎
—and they return back into the console room.
"Yes. I mean you could do that, but it just won't work. Hardwired fail-safe. Living things from rooms that are deleted are automatically deposited in the main control room. But thanks for the lift!" The Doctor told him.
"We are in your Universe now, Doctor. Why should it matter to me in which room you die? I can kill you or the young Time Lord just as easily here as anywhere. Fear me. I've killed hundreds of Time Lords."
"Fear me. I killed all of them."
"Eleven's hour is over now. The clock is striking twelve's," Idris suddenly speaks up, her body slowly getting colder, as if she's on the brink of death. "On the Fields of Trenzalore… at the fall of the Eleventh… when no living creature can speak falsely, or fail to answer… a question will be asked."
"Idris, I don't understand any of those," Rory shook his head as Arthur sobbing quietly. What is she trying to say?
"A question that must never, ever be answered," she continued, her eyes slowly closing and her grip also getting weaker. "A question will become… a catalyst of an unexpected future. And by doing so… the Explorer must pay a high price."
With that, Idris let out a low sigh, leaving nothing but a cold body.
"Doctor, she's stopped breathing!" Arthur cried.
"Enough!" House shouted as Amy walked to Arthur and hugged the boy. "That is enough."
"No. It's never enough. You forced the Tardis into a body so she'd burn out safely a very long way away from this control room. A flesh body can't hold the Tardis Matrix and live. Look at her body, House."
"And you think I should mourn her?" He sneered.
"No. I think you should be very, very careful about what you let back into this control room."
Energy flows from Idris as she opens her mouth, surprising Amy, Rory, and Arthur as they watch the energy streams throughout the room, changing the green light to golden.
"No! Doctor, stop this! OW! Stop this now!" House commanded.
"Oh, look at my girl, look at her go!" The Doctor exclaimed proudly. "Bigger on the inside! You see, House?"
"Make it stop!"
"You've been playing for sucker, House," Arthur mocked as he laughed, not realising his body starts to get glowing.
"Make it stop!"
"Finish him off, girl," the Doctor whispered, letting the Tardis overtaken House, erasing the entity for good.
"Doctor? Sunny? Are you there?" Idris called, looking around the console room, yet her expression seems to be lost. "It's so very dark in here."
"Idris?" Arthur replied as he and the Doctor approached her. "We're here."
"I've been looking for a word. A big, complicated word, but so sad. I've found it now."
"What word?" The Doctor whispered.
"Alive. I'm alive!"
"Alive isn't sad."
"It's sad when it's over. I'll always be here. But this is when we talked and now even that has come to an end. There's something I didn't get to say to you."
"Goodbye?" The Doctor guessed.
"No, I just wanted to say... hello. Hello, Doctor. Hello, Sunny. It's so very, very nice to meet you two."
"Idris, please stay!" Arthur pleaded with tears, realising that he would jump somewhere in the Doctor's timeline. "I want to know more about you!"
"Don't despair, my Sunny. You always know me," she assured him and stepped back as the projection dissipated with a bright light and the familiar Tardis sound.
The last thing Arthur hears before jumping is a soft three words.
"I love you."
