Chapter 14

In Route 35, we are training our Pokemon until we feel something by our side. Lillie asks, "Ash? Did you see something that is flying around me?"

I look closer to find that it is a Yanma. I say, "It's a Yanma. It's a speedy Pokemon."

Much to our surprise, Yanma then flies over and steals my hat. "My hat!" I yell as we chase the Yanma to the nearby town. When Yanma suddenly beats its wings, all the glass in the town breaks.

"Why is it doing this?" East asks. "This is not right..."

It turns out that Team Rocket is using the Yanma to make a profit with the glasses. They are making another scam and we decide to stop them, they want us to hand over Pikachu unless Yanma continues to destroy the glasses, we are forced to hold back, but without them noticing, I throw a Pokeball at Yanma. It turns out that they haven't captured the Yanma yet.

"Hey!" The trio is furious and they send out Victreebel and Arbok. I have Yanma use Sonic Boom to defeat them and send them blasts off. We also return the profits to the townspeole.

Yanma: The Clear Wing Pokémon: Bug and Flying Type. If it flaps its wings really fast, it can generate shock waves that will shatter windows in the area.

And while we're doing some training, our Wooper evolves into a Quagsire.

Quagsire: The Water Fish Pokemon: Water and Ground Type. Evolved from Wooper at LV:20. Due to its relaxed and carefree attitude, it often bumps its head on boulders and boat hulls as it swims.

As we continue to walk on the road, we find a trainer as he says, "Excuse me, kid! I received this letter the other day from a friend of mine. Here is the reply I wrote. I'm stuck here and was wondering if you could deliver it... He's on Route 31. Can you help a guy out?"

"Sure." Ethan asks. "What is it?"

"Wow, thanks!" Then we get a Spearow named Kenya, and the man says, "My friend is on Route 31. Oh, yeah. There was a weird tree blocking the road. I wonder if it's been cleared?"

Once we go to Route 31, they find the man, and he says, "Huh? I feel like reading some words on a piece of paper or something..."

As they show Kenya the Spearow to him, he says, "Let's see...Thank you for your Mail. It was such an exciting adventure. I didn't like Zubat, though..." That is what it says. I went to a dark Cave the other day with a friend. The cave leads to another route. By the way, I must thank you for being so kind."

"No problem." When we leave, East also captures his own Skiploom at Route 32. Once we get back to Route 35, the man says, "Thank you for making the delivery! ...What about a cave exploration? Ah, you can go right through here. I want you to have this for your kindness!"

He gives us an HP up, and he adds, "My pal was snoozing, right? Heh, he's always sleeping."

After that, we continued their training, and both East and my Hoothoot evolved, much to our delight. Reisa says, "Now it really is a Shiny Noctowl..."

"It is so cool after all." I say.

Noctowl: The Owl Pokemon: Normal and Flying Type. Evolved from Hoothoot at LV:20. Its eyes are specially adapted. They concentrate even faint light and enable it to see in the dark.

Then we arrive at the Pokéathlon Dome. Reisa says, "Wow, this place is so big."

"Indeed. This place is actually cool." I say.

"Muhaha!" Just then, a man walks towards us, and he says, "I feel it! The twinkle in your eyes! The twinkle of friendship! You're quite something. Your Pikachu is quite a Pokemon! It's ready to participate in the Pokeathlon, bud! Most of all, your solidarity with and trust in Pokemon makes me believe in infinite potential! All right. Follow me!"

As we follow the man, we get to the entrance of the building. "What do you think? This is the Pokeathlon Dome!"

Lillie asks, "So what is this Pokealthon?"

"Pokeathlon is a sports festival for Trainers and Pokemon! Inside the Dome are various challenges awaiting Trainers and Pokemon to test their friendship. Why don't you try it?"

"That sounds like fun." Kris says. "I guess we can become a Pokeathlete as well."

"You're amazing, bud! This is a pleasant surprise! To see a Pokeathlete with strong potential is such a pleasure! I'm glad I held the Pokeathlon here in Johto. My name is Magnus. We shall meet again, bud. See you, young Pokeaethlete."

After he leaves, I say, "So let's go try out the games."

"Sure." Ethan says.

Before they go there, we try out some Aprijuice at the stand, and as we get inside, we are surprised to see someone that I'm surprised to find.

"Ash! You're here!" The blonde-haired girl rushes toward me, and I say, "Yellow? What are you doing here? And what's with the outfit?"

Yellow is now wearing a sports outfit, and she says, "I was taking part in the Pokeathlon. Although I won some of them, I also lost some as well."

After introducing the others, Yellow says, "You can't participate in the Pokéathlon looking like that. It's a good thing that they have some jerseys at the store. You want to look your best if you're going to participate in the Pokéathlon."

Then we are dragged to the store, and Kris asks, "So she's your travel companion in the Kanto Region, Ash?"

"Yeah. She is strong and also shy. But she is actually cute as well." I say, and it causes both Lillie and Kris to stare at me with surprise.

After we are prepared, Yellow says, "All of you look great."

"Actually only Ash is participating in the events. I mean, we all just want to watch." East says.

"Don't worry, if you have those outfits, you can come whenever you want." Yellow says. "Now let's go to the counter."

I was dragged by Yellow to the receptionist, and he said, "Welcome, this is the reception for the Pokeathlon. Would you like to try the challenge?"

"Of course." I say.

"So which course would you like to try?" When she asked me, I decided to say, "I'm going to do the Skill Course first.

The first one is the Snow Throw. I have Flaaffy, Bayleef, and Conconaw throw the snowballs at others, while the opponents aim at Conconaw, which he dodges all by dancing. Flaaffy makes a giant snowball to knock the opponent out. They got a total score of 57, with Bayleef throwing 24 of them.

The next game is Goal Roll, and we have been taking soccer balls and kicking them into different opponents' nets. We got a score of 200 in the end, with Croconaw being the one that kicked the most.

And the final one is Pennant Capture. We grab a lot of flags that appear out of the sand. With the help of Flaaffy's speed and the other two's legs, we managed to get 50 flags with ease.

"The Skill Course is over! Let's add up the points! According to the scores, the winners are Team Ash with Flaaffy, Bayleef, and Croconaw! They were a tenacious team that wasn't afraid of making mistakes!"

I smile as I get the Skill Medal, and Yellow comes to me and says, "Congratulations! You're pretty good at this."

"Thanks." I say back. Lillie says, "So each of the 5 courses has 3 out of the 10 events, and there's four more."

Reisa asks, "So what do you want to go with next?"

"I think I'm going to do the Jump Course." I say.

In the Jump Course, I chose the Scizor, Heracross, and Poliwhirl for the Lamp Jump. The Pokemon jumps really high and earns a score of 520 due to hitting the highest lamp with the help of Scizor.

The second event is the Disc Catch. Thanks to Scizor and Heracross, they are great in the air and manage to catch the disc before the other teams can get it. In the end, we get a score of 70 points in the end.

The final one is the Hurdle Dash. My three Pokemon are trying to jump through the hurdles, because of our training, they manage to jump through all the hurdles without falling to the ground, and we get a total score of 75 seconds.

"Team Ash gets the medal!" I smile after getting the Jump Medal. And not long after, I decided to choose the Stamina Course.

I have Lapras, Quilava, and Blissey for the Stamina Course. With their heavy bodies, they have been throwing the other Pokemon out of the rings. And they got a total of 125 points in the end, much to my delight.

The second one is Relay Run, we manage to run 20 laps in the end, Blissey is slow as it can only go for 2 laps, but Lapras and Quilava's other 18 laps really pay off.

The final one was Block Smash, we got 10 cement blocks for each Pokemon, and within 30 seconds, Blissey gave me a surprise to keep breaking the blocks, and we got a total of 130 blocks, with Chansey breaking 75 of them.

"I thought Chansey was weak with physical attacks, but it is actually doing great." Lillie says.

"I know. I'm surprised myself." I say.

"So what's the next course?" Kris asks.

"I'll go with the Speed." I say. Yellow says, "If you're going to enter the Speed Course, then you're going to have to fight Jet, the Pokeathlon's Top Pokeathlete!"

"Jet?" East asks.

"He is the top-class athlete with the top score in every event and every course!" Ethan says.

"I'm not going to lose to someone like him." I smile. Just then, Togepi jumps down from Lillie's arms and rushes to me. I gasped, "Togepi, you're going to attend this?"

Togepi jumps up and down, and Lillie says, "Well, I guess Togepi really wants to do it..."

"Then I'll go with Pikachu, Togepi, and Golbat." I say.

Although in the battle, I can see how many people are cheering for Jet. After the Hurdle Dash and the Pennant Capture, Jet's score is still in front of me. Now it is for the final event, the Relay Run. I'm surprised to see how fast Jet is, Togepi is actually my wild card, but much to our horror, Togepi trips and small gravels are in its eyes.

"Togepi! Don't slow down! I know you can do it!" I say. "Just don't be scared. Run as fast as you can!"

Just then, Togepi starts to run, and I give him a sense of direction. It's a good thing that I memorized the relay course back in the Stamina Course. And then in the end, we manage to overspeed Jet and his Pokemon and get the first place once more.

"Team Ash turns things around to win the Speed Course!" I hug Togepi and cheer, "We did it!"

Jet comes to me and says, "That was a wonderful and wild performance. I am looking forward to our rematch."

"Thanks." I smile. And much to our delight, Togepi also evolves into a Togetic. Now it is starting to fly around us.

Togetic: The Happiness Pokemon: Fairy and Flying Type. Evolved from Togepi when leveled up with high friendship. They say that it will appear before kindhearted, caring people and shower them with happiness.

After getting back outside, I say, "Now I only have the Power Course left."

Lillie says, "So what are you going to choose this time?"

"I'm going for Aipom, Ledian, and Pineco. I'm sure that Ledian and Aipom are going to be great." I say.

"I wonder if they can go through our Pokemon, then?" When we turn around. We can't believe what we're seeing.

"It... It's the Johto Elite Four!" Reisa says.

"No way! Karen, Marina, Will, and Koga?" East gasps.

I gasped, "What are you guys doing here in the Pokeathleon Dome?"

"We've been given the task of checking the strength of all who come to the Pokemon League." Marina says.

"Our goal is to help wholesome trainers. Funny, don't you think?" Will adds.

"We have to promote the league and help them out with the Pokeathlon." Karen says.

"Although I'm surprised to see you here, after all, you're the famous winner of the Kanto League." Koga says. "Do you want to challenge the next course with us?"

"You bet I will!" I say with a smirk.

The first one is Circle Push. Thanks to the 3 Pokemon's strength, they often push the opponents away and step into the three-point circle. They get a total of 200 points in the game, with each Pokemon giving its best. But much to my surprise, Koga is the one who goes through the battle and he gets more score than mine.

In the second round of Goal Roll, they send Will, and my Pokemon are struggling against his team. Ethan says, "So this is the power of the Elite Four..."

"Yeah, Ash really is in trouble." Kris says.

And the final round is the Block Smash. Karen is the one who challenges me and she uses Tyranitar, much to my surprise, it can use Mega Punch, which it normally can't use. Pineco and Ledian are struggling against them until I decide to go with Aipom.

"I knew that I couldn't win against you in power right after the event started. That's why I had to find another way to make up for that and fight back! That's when Aipom comes in. Even if its attacks are weak, it can continue to hammer away at the dead center of the block. It has kept landing critical hits. And it's still landing even more!"

This causes everyone to be surprised, and Aipom manages to strike more blocks than Tyranitar, much to Karen's surprise. In the end, I even got the Power Medal.

"That was splendid." Karen shakes her hand with me. "I know that someone like you is not going to be underestimated."

"Likewise." I say back. "Although I would really want to have a battle against all of you once I beat the Johto League."

Karen smirks, "I'm excited to see that happen."

Then after we bid farewell to the Elite Four, the others come to me and Lillie says, "You really did it! You have all 5 medals!"

"Yeah, that is awesome." Reisa says.

We get to the Friendship Room, and we see Mangus again. "Oh gosh! You are...! It is indeed you, Ash! Outstanding! Quite an achievement for you to come up here, bud! This is the "Friendship" room. It was built to commemorate the solidarity, trust, and potential of Pokémon and people and hope for the eternal friendship between Pokémon and people."

"That sounds amazing." I say.

"Congratulations! This room is only for those true Pokéatheletes who have earned real friendships with Pokémon! Ash! You are a true Pokéathelete, bud! Having said that... This is also the moment of a new beginning... That's right, bud! You have just heard a new starting signal. Your challenge continues to a whole new height and to become the legendary Pokéathelete! Take a look at these statues. You may be looking at your goal..."

As they see their statues with their Pokemon, Kris says, "That is so amazing...looks like you achieved another goal."

"Yeah." I say. "Having these Pokeathlon is getting us tired."

Yellow says, "You've really done it. I think I should also give you special presents."

"Let me guess, badges?" I ask.

"Of course." Yellow says while taking out the badges. Ethan says, "Those are some cool custom badges."

"Yeah. This one is the Lightspeed Badge, which is shaped like a comet. The second one is a Root Badge. The third one is a Booster Badge, the fourth one is the Horseshoe Badge, and the final one is the Milky Badge, which looks like a Milkyway."

"Thanks." I take the badges and then we bid Yellow farewell since she has some other things to do.

Here is a new chapter, and this chapter is basically the Pokeathlon. I am not sure about this since I haven't played Heart Gold and Soul Silver before. I was just watching other people's walkthroughs and the manga to write this story. As you can see, Ash beats the Potential scores of each match, and he has his own status in the Friendship Room. I also introduce the Elite Four because the Manga shows them. I hope you like this chapter.
