Nat followed Steve and Clint with her guns any time they so much as shifted. She wasn't about to let them get away. She needed Clint to understand and she wanted to get Steve out of the picture for herself and John. He would give her Eva, while Steve would selfishly keep the nineteen-forties beauty to himself. Nat wanted Eva, to own her in every sense of the word. Steve had to go.
"How did you find me?" the Widow demanded.
"Yelena," said Clint, not wanting to risk getting shot.
Steve took a step towards his former teammate, growling, "I know you killed my kid, Romanoff."
Nat shot at Steve's feet before saying, "Stay back!"
"What? Couldn't stand for her to be happy with me?"
"You don't deserve her. That brat would have been an abomination."
Steve clenched his fists. "Don't call my child an abomination. They were innocent."
"That thing would have killed her. Just like you were."
Her voice was cold and held no emotion. It was the voice of someone so evil, there was no redemption left for them. Steve prayed that there was a circle of hell specifically designed for monsters like Natasha Romanoff.
"No," said Steve, trying to buy time, "you did that."
This statement shocked Nat, adding some life to her features as she tried to defend herself, saying, "No, I saved her."
Steve ignored her. "Before you, she would have a ready smile and would hug everyone."
"He's right," said Clint, drawing the Widow's attention. "She doesn't feel safe. Only Loki is real most of the time."
Nat scoffed and replied, "I didn't do that. That was her mistake. If she just chose me-"
Steve stepped forward, earning a look of pure hate from Nat, as he responded, "She wouldn't be Evelyn. She would be dead, a shell."
"You're lying. I would never-"
"But it did. When you destroyed their last hope, for a short time, Loki and Evelyn died."
Tears began to roll down Nat's cheeks. "No, you're wrong! I didn't-"
"But you did." Steve moved again, only for the ex-Avenger to shoot at his feet again. "And you said it yourself. You enjoyed the dead version of Evelyn more. No matter how perfect she already was, you fucked with her mind to be your toy."
If she was shocked by Steve's use of a cuss word, Nat didn't show it like he had hoped. "I don't believe you!"
Just then, Yelena dropped to the roof of the building behind the redhead, saying, "Hello, Natasha."
Nat spared her a glance. "Hey. Wanna help me-"
"Mind telling me when you became just like Dreykov?"
Nat spun towards the woman that she called sister, stunned by those words.
