A sigh escapes his lips and slips out of his mask, breath visible in the chill air as he glares down toward the people at his feet. He'd just knocked them out, having originally encountered them as they attempted to mug a random civilian. Removing a phone from his pocket, he dials the number of someone any self-respecting Hero should know, Tsukauchi Naomasa.

After three rings, the line connects and the man's voice comes through, "Tsukauchi speaking, how can I help you?"

He grunts, "Good evening, Detective. I've got some street thugs here that need to be taken away."

The man on the other end lets out a sigh, "Really working for your paycheck tonight Stygian. You should take a break, doesn't the new UA term start soon?"

The Hero, Stygian, lets out a chuckle, "Tell that to Eraser, man wouldn't know a break if it shattered his ribs."

Tsukauchi grunts, "Even so, I don't think it's a good idea to emulate his habits. You've got enough on your plate as is."

Stygian sighs, "Yeah, yeah. Alright, I'll go get some rest for tomorrow. Bye."

Hanging up, he takes off into the night.

(Next Day)

Yawning slightly, Stygian stretches as he makes his way to his day job. Aside from his work as an Underground Hero, he also works as UA High School's head of security.

Passing easily through the flow of students, both new and old, he makes his way to the teacher's lounge. Upon entering, he gives a short wave to the rest of the staff before making straight for the coffee.

Midnight lets out a chuckle, "I'm telling you guys, he has to be related to Aizawa. I think I can see the bags developing under those sunglasses."

Instead of his Hero outfit, Stygian comes to work dressed more casually. Just some jeans and a simple button up with the sleeves rolled back, revealing some of the scars he's earned over the years, marring the pale skin of his arms. Without his hood or mask his black hair with red highlights is kept in a low ponytail. Then of course there's the aforementioned sunglasses, fully obscuring his eyes.

He turns to his coworker, "You just keep thinking that. But if Aizawa hears, he might not be too happy about it."

Stygian quickly drains his cup, "Speaking of, I'm gonna be there during his little first day ritual, so place your bets if you haven't already."

Walking out of the room, Stygian makes his way down to the field.

Leaning against a nearby wall, he watches as Aizawa gives the students the same threat all of his classes get.

Aizawa glares at the students, "Oh, you think it'll be fun, huh?"

He suddenly smirks, "Then I guess it's okay to raise the stakes a bit. Whoever ends up in last place at the end of all these tests is going home, being labeled as having no potential."

One of the students, a girl with brown hair, shouts out, "That's not fair!"

Aizawa raises an eyebrow, "And what? Villain attacks, natural disasters, and plagues are? The world is unfair. As Heroes, it's your job to change that. So quit whining and do your best. Go beyond, this is what Plus Ultra really means!"

At the end of his speech, Aizawa is wearing a sadistic grin. Suddenly, slow clapping rings out. Stygian steps forward, revealing himself as the source.

He smirks, "Quite the speech Aizawa. I'm sure class 2-A would be quaking in their boots remembering it, you know, if there was one."

One of the students, the Yaoyorozu heiress if he remembers correctly, steps forward, "Excuse me, what do you mean by that?"

Stygian lets out a chuckle, "Exactly what I said. There is no class 2-A this year, they were all expelled as freshmen when they failed to meet Aizawa's expectations."

Yaoyorozu steps back, "They just let him do that? How does he still have a job?"

Stygian gives a small smile, "Because he gets results. Every student that's successful in his class survives twice the average in the field, many even living long enough to properly retire. The total of 154 students he's expelled weren't cut out for this line of work, so I hope you all put in the work to make the cut."

Aizawa raises an eyebrow, "I expect you didn't come here just to sing my praises Stygian, why aren't you patrolling the school?"

One of the kids', Midoriya's, eyes light up, "Wait, Stygian? As in the Underground Hero?"

Stygian lets out a chuckle, "The very same. I'm surprised you've heard of me. Anyway, to answer your question Aizawa, I came to take a look at your new class and see how they fair. Speaking of-"

Stygian steps forward, removing his sunglasses to fix the entire class with an unnerving gaze. His sclera are completely black, and his irises are as red as blood.

A small smirk creeps onto his face, "Good luck, you'll certainly need it for your time here."

He then walks away, chuckling to himself, before returning to the wall he was leaning on before and continuing to observe.

He really hopes these kids make it, some more than others, like one of the recommendation students. Shoto Todoroki.
