Woah…Just…Woah…Sadie Adler taking on Tommy like so… Intense, I'd say. But also Mighty impressive. Really shows you how much of a badass Sadie Adler is.
Our dear Arthur Morgan continuously gets worse and worse with a strange sickness. We still see that Mr. Downes is alive, but has TB. However, Arthur is not infected by TB…No, No…It could be something less…or it could be something worse…But in all seriousness…It is nothing good.
-Chapter 15- The Perfect Rescue Dog is out there for everybody. You just have to find it.
Sadie Adler had ridden her horse for a while now. She had to ask directions every now and again, but she managed to find her way to Blackwater. And already, it was crawling with Pinkertons and Bounty Hunters. Sadie had hoped that she wasn't Wanted here. She wasn't present in the dilemma with the Robbery. But, Agent Milton and Agent Ross were somewhere in the midst of all this. She needed to keep her head low and away from suspicion.
She rode up the path, coming up to where Charles and Javier were. Charles and Javier were on their stomachs, hiding themselves up on the hill. Charles had his binoculars out as he looked down on the town. Which was swarming with not only Pinkertons…but O'Driscolls of all sorts. Not to mention an army of bounty hunters at the ready if things went topside. And there were only four of them to get Sean out of this hell hole.
Sadie quickly dismounted her horse, getting down low and moving to Javier and Charles.
"See Sean yet?" Javier asked Charles.
"No, not yet," Charles said. Sadie got on her stomach and crawled in between Charles and Javier.
"Who's Sean, if you don't mind me asking?" Sadie asked Javier.
"He's a young Irish gun, he's been with us for a little while, until we got separated when the Blackwater Heist went south," Javier said to Sadie. Sadie looked down at the town, which was swarming with Pinkertons and O'Driscolls alike. What infuriated Sadie the most was the O'Driscolls present in Blackwater. There had to be a range of at least nine hundred O'Driscolls down there, easy. With another one thousand Pinkertons as well. Then bounty hunters included.
"Damn O'Driscolls…" Sadie said as she pointed them out.
"Yeah…What the hell are they doing here?" Charles said.
"Those men I encountered down near the river, apparently, O'Driscolls are play pals of theirs, criminals working for the government, just shows you how corrupt the government really is," Sadie said. Charles handed Sadie the binoculars.
"Yeah, but there's nothing we can do about them. Our goal is to get Sean. Any of those O'Driscolls would recognize us. And most certainly you," Charles said. Sadie looked through the binoculars and saw all the Pinkertons and O'Driscolls. They patrolled the streets, O'Driscolls traveling in groups of their own, as well as the Pinkertons.
"So, what's this little Irish bastard look like?" Sadie asked.
"Ginger hair, freckles on his face, hair's a little long, and a real yapper. You see a bunch of beatings on an Irish, you'll know for sure it's him," Javier said.
"He's that annoying?" Sadie asked, curiously.
"You have no idea," Charles said.
Sadie had a strange feeling, she put down the binoculars, reached for her Schofield Revolver, quickly pulled it out, and aimed it behind her.
Only to see it was Trelawny. Trelawny had his hands up in shock. But Sadie put her gun down. Trelawny put his arms down.
"Quite the perceptive one, are you Mrs. Adler," Trelawny whispered as he crouched down to the group.
"Yeah, sorry about that," Sadie apologized to Trelawny. Holstering her weapon. She had only met him twice now and already she had nearly killed him.
"No harm done, my dear," Trelawny said.
"Find anything?" Charles asked. Sean didn't seem present in Blackwater, not at the moment at least.
"Yes, Sean is being moved in the Upper Montana, then to a federal prison out west," Trelawny whispered quietly to the trio group. Charles put his hands on his face in stress, hearing that Sean could be sent to a federal prison. Sadie let out a sigh of irritation.
"Damn it. I don't think you boys can rescue people from a federal prison," Sadie said.
"You'd have the right idea. If Sean's heading to a federal prison, we gotta find a way to intercept them," Javier said.
"Ike Skelding's boys are moving him to a camp nearby… before handing him over to the government," Trelawny said quietly.
Sadie nodded her head slowly.
"Guess that means, we need to stop them before they get to camp," Sadie said, looking back down at the town of Blackwater.
"Charles, best you head up on the north side, Javier and I will meet you on the other side of the valley, that way we can get them on either direction," Sadie said to Charles.
"Alright, I'll meet you up there," Charles said as he got on his feet and mounted on Taima.
"Gentlemen, come on," Sadie said as she, Javier, and Trelawny got back on their feet and went to their horses. Trelawny's horse was an Appaloosa with a Brown Leopard coat, named Gwydion. Javier's horse was an American Paint Horse named The Boaz. Sadie's horse was a Turkoman with a Golden Coat named Bob. Bob was the biggest horse amongst the three.
Sadie, Javier, and Trelawny slowly made their way towards their horses.
"You know, my dear, We haven't spoken much since we met, but, how exactly did you come to be riding with Dutch and Mr. Matthews?" Trelawny asked curiously.
Sadie hesitated to bring up how she exactly fell into this gang. The absolute horrors those O'Driscolls did to her and…to…her Jakey. It mortified her to an immense degree. Just thinking about it makes it sick to her stomach. She felt like hurling every time she thought about it. She remembered what a woman of the O'Driscolls did to Jake. Sadie remembered the one…Black Hair with a Side Plait, a scar over her left eye but she was still able to see out of it, slightly taller than her, and more muscular. Her devilish amber eyes. And the smirk she had when she choked out her husband, using him as her own little play toy…She remembered her name… Isabella.
"I…uh…I've been with them for at least three months now…but, before that, I had, a Husband, a Ranch up in the mountains, and a life…but…then, it was all…" Sadie paused…she felt herself about to shed a tear. She felt her rage boiling. Colm O'Driscoll…Tom O'Driscoll…Isabella O'Driscoll Those people had taken everything she ever had from her. Her life was ruined because of them.
"It was all taken away from me…My husband was…he…I…" Sadie stuttered quite a bit. Why was she getting so emotional? This is why she had joined Arthur and Micah in the O'Driscoll heist. To keep her mind off of Jake, her Home, her Life. She thought that, by killing and robbing, threatening, beating, and even taunting folks, she thought it would keep her mind off of Jake and her old life. But her pain was still fresh. Even if it had been only 3 months since then.
"It's okay, My dear, you need not say anything more. I'm sorry for your loss…you have my deepest sympathies," Trelawny said with slight sorrow and pity in his tone.
"Thank you, Trelawny," Sadie thanked Trelawny for his condolences.
"You've been through hell, Sadie, and you've helped us a lot. So, I should also say thank you…You did save all our asses in those Mountains after all," Javier said. Sadie wiped the tears off her cheeks as they mounted their horses.
"I just happened to be in the right place, at the right time," Sadie said as a smile grew on her face.
"That sounds like an interesting story, perhaps you'll share it with me another time," Trelawny said.
"I'll keep it in mind," Sadie said as she took the lead, Goldlen started to gently and slowly gallop towards the river, with Javier and Trelawny's horses following suit.
They rode down towards the river to find the boat that potentially held Sean captive. Sadie could see just how bad things went down in Blackwater. The Van Der Linde Gang seemed to be the highest target for the Pinkertons, and the O'Driscolls. But Sadie knew better. The Van Der Linde Gang weren't monsters, least not the cold-blooded kind, but the O'Driscolls on the other hand…they were and are Monsters. And the whole fact that the Government is working with an Army of Criminals and Killers…Sadie knew that a new Century was on the rise…but from the looks of it, it wasn't going to be a pleasant one. For both the Cowboys…and the Normal folk alike.
The trio rode near where the water was, staying up on the ridge and looking down at the river.
"There's the boat, probably our boys too," Sadie said as she stopped on the edge.
"Alright Sadie, Javier, follow me. Don't pull out your guns until we know it's Sean," Trelawny said calmly as he started slowly trotting down the side as if he was just on a morning trail ride.
"You think they can see us?" Sadie asked, growing suspicious whether or not if the Bounty Hunters knew something.
"If they can, we're just a few folks on the trail. Act Natural, we'll be fine," Trelawny said.
They rode in a short silence as they followed the trail, tailing the boat. Sadie decided to try and keep the conversation going.
"So, who are you, Trelawny? I mean like, to this gang," Sadie asked.
"Well, my dear, I've been with these boys for quite some time now. Roughly several years if I'm honest. I disappear here and there, finding new scores, information, the works. I'm also a magician, if that brings any interest in the conversation," Trelawny shared his brief and vague meaning to the gang.
Sadie slightly chuckled.
"You? A Magician?" Sadie asked.
"Indeed, Other than finding scores and running around with degenerate murderers, I have many other hobbies that I tend to," Trelawny said.
Sadie noticed Javier was being quiet.
"You're being pretty quiet, Javier," Sadie pointed out.
"He hasn't stopped talking since we left Valentine. Longest ride of my life," Javier said.
"Cute, dear boy, Very Cute…" Trelawny said.
They rode for a little longer in silence. Continuing to trail the boat. Which seemed to be getting closer to the end of the larger stretch of the river.
"There should be a camp somewhere around here. Where the bounty hunters meet and transfer before continuing out west. I imagine that's where they're headed," Trelawny said, breaking the silence once more. They continued riding up the trail.
The Boat pulled up on the shore, pulling to a stop.
"Look, they've stopped," Trelawny said. Sadie pulled out her binoculars from her satchel and looked through them down at the boat.
"Looks like they got someone," Sadie said. She could see at least four men dressed in white Leather Coats, all matching. Definitely bounty hunters. The person they held captive had a sack over their head, a white Union suit, and black jeans. They dragged him off the boat and pulled off the sack.
"That looks like Sean to me…" Javier said.
"Certainly kicking up a big fuss," Sadie said. It looked like the young Irish lad was screaming at one of the bounty hunters. Which queued the bounty hunter to ram the butt of his gun into Sean's gut.
"Guess this is our man," Sadie said.
"Oh, they're giving him a decent kicking," Javier said with a chuckle at the end.
"Can't imagine the shit he's been giving them," Sadie said with a reply.
"Oh yes," Javier replied back. The Bounty Hunters started dragging Sean up the Canyon, taking him to the camp.
"They're taking him up the canyon," Sadie said. She tried looking for Charles and found him on the edge of a ridge, he too had his binoculars out. Once Sadie saw him he started waving his hand to give the signal that he was ready.
"There's Charles," Sadie said. "Alright, Let's go," She said after.
"What about those two?" Javier said, asking about the two bounty hunters who didn't leave.
"I have an idea, Follow me," Trelawny said as they started to trot off down the river.
Back at Horseshoe Overlook…
Arthur rode Mary into the Camp, pulling her up to a hitching post. He put the reins on it, making sure they were decently tight. He pulled out his brush from his satchel and started brushing Mary's coat. Giving her deep relief and comfort from the dirt that had gotten stuck in her coat.
"That's a good girl," Arthur said. The horse gave some grunts and tried getting her head closer to his shoulders. Showing affection towards her owner.
Arthur coughed a few times, but there wasn't any blood, nor was it serious.
He coughed into his arm a few times. He brushed it off and went back to tending to his horse.
After a few minutes or so, Mary had been completely clean.
"Good girl, you can rest now," Arthur said. His eyes had gotten swollen and red. His eye sockets had also turned dark and sunken. His skin had gotten slightly paler.
Arthur went to find Leopold Strauss for any medicine.
When Arthur found him, he was sitting on a rock out near the edge of camp. Close to the ridge they rested on.
"Herr Strauss," Arthur said, getting the German's attention.
"Ah, Herr Morgan," Strauss said without looking at him, looking through a ledger.
"How are you?" Strauss asked Arthur.
"About how I look," Arthur said as he walked next to Strauss. Strauss looked next to him as he got a look at Arthur. His expression went from a smile to a small shock.
"My Lord, Herr Morgan, what happened?" Strauss said as he stood up and showed deep concern for Arthur.
"Oh, just a few beatings, sore muscles, the occasional bar fight, nothing serious," Arthur said, being the comedian that he is.
"Your eye sockets, don't get sunken by fists. Your eyes themselves don't get red through liquor. This is quite serious, Herr Morgan," Strauss said. Arthur expected as much for his reaction to be like this.
"Come, come, let's see what the problem is," Strauss said as he motioned his hand for Arthur to follow. Who obliged immediately.
"Sit," Strauss said as he pointed at the chair and kept walking toward the Medicine Wagon. Arthur said down as Strauss sorted through the bottles of medicine and doctor equipment.
"Miss Tilly, would you mind giving me a hand please," Strauss asked Tilly who was knitting together a small handkerchief.
"Of course, Mr. Strauss," Tilly said as she set the knitting tools aside and walked over to help out. Tilly was wearing her Yellow dress. Strauss had his white collared shirt and a black vest. No hat either.
"What can I do, Strauss," Tilly asked.
"Yes, Would you mind setting up a tray next to Herr Morgan," Strauss said. Tilly immediately got to it as she brought out a foldable tray and sat it next to Arthur. Strauss brought over the medicine he had been sorting through and sat it on the tray.
"Young Tilly, you know how to check a heartbeat correct? With a Stethoscope?" Strauss asked.
"Yes, Of course," Tilly said.
"Good, would you mind checking Herr Morgan, see if this sickness he has is affecting his heart," Strauss said. Tilly grabbed the Stethoscope, brought a stool, and sat it next to Arthur.
"Didn't take you for a doctor," Arthur said with a joke.
"Didn't take you for a man who fell for women so easily," Tilly joked back. Arthur gave a chuckle and rolled his eyes.
"I see Dutch doesn't waste any time to spread the news," Arthur said.
"He never does," Tilly said as she put the stethoscope around her neck, putting the earpieces in her ears. She grabbed the bell of it and put it on Arthur's chest.
"Try breathing a little slow," Tilly asked. Arthur took in a deep breath. He was able to breathe just fine, but the coughing and blood was the real problem. Tilly listened carefully. His heart rate…it was slow. Slower than your average human. But it was calm, no rush of adrenaline, no signs of it sputtering or stopping. It was just slow, but loud too. This was unusual to Tilly since she did checkups on Hosea every now and again. Checking his heartbeat. It remained at a constant speed and wasn't quite as loud as Arthur's.
She moved the Stethoscope a little to Arthur's right, checking in different places on how it had changed or if it changed.
"Alright, let me check your back," Tilly said. Arthur leaned forward a little as Tilly put the Stethoscope under Arthur's blue Everyday Shirt, checking under his back. She felt a few scars on his back, no doubt from the gun wounds. She placed it right where his heart would be. It too remained the same. Slow, Calm, and Loud. Tilly removed the stethoscope.
"His heart rate's a little slow and loud, Strauss, but his breathing is perfectly fine," Tilly said.
"Thank you, Tilly," Strauss said as he walked back from the wagon with a few more doctor's equipment.
"Since when have we had all this fancy Doctor's equipment," Strauss said.
"Oh, Mr. Bell stole it from the Doctor's office in Valentine, when you, Mrs. Adler, and Mr. Bell went on that O'Driscoll Heist I hear so much about. He said it would be a good idea to have this refined equipment if one of us got sick. Quite thoughtful of Mr. Bell, wouldn't you think, Herr Morgan?" Strauss said as he sat the tools on the tray. The Tools were assorted of quinine, Aspirin medicine, a portable X-ray, some smallpox vaccines, an ophthalmoscope, and a mercury sphygmomanometer.
Wait…Micah grabbed the tools? Arthur always took Micah for a guy who only cared about himself and no one else. Not to mention irritating. Guess…Arthur and he had just gone off on the wrong foot.
"Yeah, I guess…" Arthur said some coughs started to come up, he coughed in his arm a few times. They were small, with no blood once again.
Strauss brought out the ophthalmoscope and started to shine it in Arthur's eyes. Shining it in his right eye. He looked into it closely, examining if his eyes had any damage or possible cause of fatigue, blurriness, etcetera.
"Miss Tilly, can you check his blood pressure with the sphygmomanometer?" Strauss asked Tilly as he started examining Arthur's left eye. No infection so far.
"Of course, Strauss," Tilly said as she grabbed the Blood Pressure Cuff.
As Strauss examined Arthur's eyes…he noticed a slight change in his pupil color. The Sclera had veins of red around it, but that was just from the sickness. It was the Iris…It was changing. Arthur's natural eye color was blue…but it seemed to be turning into a dark shade of green. Darker than an average human eye color.
"Herr Morgan, have you been feeling any different recently? Such as eye fatigue, soreness in muscles, a headache, or a change in how you're feeling about the sun? Anything," Strauss asked Arthur.
Arthur put some thought into it.
"I mean, other than the coughing and the blood, and just feeling a little weaker than usual, that's about it," Arthur said.
"Hm, peculiar," Strauss said as he put the ophthalmoscope on the tray.
Tilly wrapped the cuff of the sphygmomanometer around Arthur's right arm. She put on her stethoscope. Putting the earpieces in and placing the bell of the stethoscope above the cuff of the Blood Pressure Cuff.
She started squeezing the inflation bulb. Squeezing it continuously until she stopped. Arthur could feel his arm slightly tingly and a small sensation. Tilly could feel his blood pressure. It was…strange. When Tilly checked Hosea or Uncle, their blood pressure was more of the same. At the same pace as the heart rate too. But, Arthur's blood pressure was acting different from his heart rate. Instead of it being slow and loud like his heart, it was fast yet quieter. Almost the opposite of what it should be.
Arthur grunted slightly, gritting his teeth.
"What's wrong, Arthur?" Tilly asked in deep concern.
"It hurts…" Arthur said as he started squinting his eyes a little.
"What does?" Tilly asked.
"That thing on my arm…I-...it hurts, it's too tight," Arthur said as he looked in heavy distress. Strauss noticed this as well.
"His sense of touch seems to be very high. Higher than usual. Finish up quickly Tilly, I'll figure something out," Strauss said.
Tilly began to ease off the air on the cuff. Slowly relieving the tight squeeze around Arthur's arm. As she did that, the blood pressure quickened…but slowly got quieter.
"Is it getting better, Arthur?" Tilly asked. Arthur nodded his head as he gently clenched his arm. Flex it a little.
"Herr Morgan, when has your sense of touch started to spike?" Strauss said as he grabbed a bottle of a Special Health Cure.
"Well…uh…It didn't start feeling too bad till that…whatever it's called wrapped around my arm," Arthur said as he started to caress his arm a little more.
"It would seem the quote-on-quote sickness is increasingly growing. Anything that you're experiencing that you have yet to share with us, Herr Morgan?" Strauss asked.
Arthur stopped and thought about it for a long moment. Other than the coughing, the blood, and now all of a sudden the extremely sensitive touch, he hadn't had anything else to share…Other than the…Dreams…He didn't start getting all this until he had that dream. The one about Eliza, Isaac, and that…thing he saw. Said something about a…What was it called… "Tigrex"? Whatever the hell that was. Something didn't add up. Something wasn't adding up. And something isn't adding up.
"Nothing that comes to mind," Arthur lied, not wanting to bring up the crazy dream he had. They'd find him insane if not downright stupid had he told them about it.
"I see, here Drink this. Take one every morning and every night, hopefully, this will do something. Although, from the looks of it, there's nothing contagious," Strauss said as he started to pack up the tools and hand Arthur a Special Health Cure Tonic. Arthur took it and popped off the lid, taking a big drink of it.
"So…I'm sick but no one else can get it?" Arthur said as he closed the bottle.
"I wouldn't say that, Herr Morgan. You are not sick, but it would seem your body is undergoing heavy change. Your eye color is different, your heart rate is slower yet louder. But it is the opposite of what your blood pressure is. Your blood pressure is fast but quiet. The coughing and the blood will only be temporary. What I recommend, Herr Morgan, is taking a month or so in camp. Rest as much as possible, eat healthy, drink plenty of water, and sleep eight hours every night," Strauss said to Arthur. Arthur slouched back in the chair a little.
"Guess I'm trapped here for a while," Arthur said.
"Well, you wish to get better do you not?" Strauss asked Arthur. Arthur shook his head and stood up.
"Well, thanks anyway, I'll go make myself useful around camp," Arthur said as he put his hat back on and walked away.
"Oh and no smoking, Herr Morgan," Strauss said to Arthur as he walked away.
Tilly helped Strauss put all the tools back up. Arthur went to go find some chores to do. At least to keep him busy.
Near Blackwater in the Upper Montana…
Sadie, Trelawny, and Javier rode down a small path that went into the valley itself. They got close to the river as Sadie and Javier dismounted their horses.
"We should do this quietly if we can," Javier said.
"Leave it to me. I'll go around and create a distraction, then you two sneak across and do the dirty on them," Trelawny said as he stayed mounted on his horse.
"Alright, that'll work," Sadie said as Trelawny started to go around the river bed. Javier crouched down with Sadie following suit. Javier pulled out his knife, whilst Sadie pulled her Tomahawk off her belt. Which was given to her by Arthur.
They slowly crossed the river, Trelawny rode across on the other side.
Sadie and Javier stopped, and Trelawny started to do his act. He was putting on a pretty good show too. Sadie would chuckle if it wouldn't give her position away.
"He's putting on a pretty good show," Sadie whispered.
"He usually does," Javier whispered back.
The two of them slowly started to move forward as the two bounty hunters's guard seemed to be dropped. Trelawny fell to the ground through his spontaneous act. Once Javier and Sadie were close enough, Javier started to choke one of them out from behind. Wrapping his arms around his neck. Pulling him back. Whilst Sadie grabbed one by the shoulder and slashed her Tomahawk on the Bounty Hunter's neck. Nearly decapitating it. Blood splattered from the wound, it immediately killed the Bounty Hunter.
Javier was still choking the other one out. He struggled for a few short seconds until he fell to the ground. Knocked out as Javier kicked him in the face for reassurance.
Sadie pulled her Tomahawk out from the Bounty Hunter's neck, the body fell limp on the ground. She sheathed her weapon on her belt. Trelawny got back on his feet.
"Come on, let's get up there," Javier said.
"A pleasure as always. I think you have it from here," Trelawny said as he mounted his horse and rode off away from the scene. Sadie pulled her Carbine Repeater from her shoulder as Javier pulled out his double-action revolver. They both made their way next to a large rock, up the canyon, there were at least seven other Bounty Hunters.
"You got a shot, Sadie?" Javier whispered to her. Sadie peaked over the rock and saw two that were standing side by side.
"Yeah, I got a shot," Sadie said. She slowly and stealthily climbed over the large rock, pulling back the lever on the Carbine Repeater, and aiming down the sights. Lining her shot up with one of the Bounty Hunter's heads. Once she was ready, she pulled the trigger. A loud bang echoed throughout the canyon. The bullet pierced his skull from behind, his corpse flopping over dead. The other Bounty Hunter didn't have a chance to react as Sadie had shot her Carbine Repeater again. Hitting its mark.
"Let's get 'em!" Javier shouted as he came from behind the rock and started shooting at the Bounty Hunters. Sadie pushed forward. Her bullets had just alerted every gun in the entire canyon. Guess that was a good thing. They did it quietly for a short time, but now, it was guns blazing.
Sadie shot her Carbine Repeater at another Bounty Hunter. Piercing his neck, immediately killing him. Javier shot his Double-Action Revolver at another. Hitting him in the chest. Sadie put her Carbine Repeater back on her shoulder. Pulling out her Schofield Revolver. There were two more up top. Sadie shot both of them from her hip, hitting both of them in the head as their corpses fell down the canyon.
Two more came out from behind some rocks, Javier was about to shoot at them, but Sadie had already put two more bullets in their skulls. Javier looked in slight shock and back at Sadie.
"Well…ain't you a deadeye," Javier said.
"Let's just get up there," Sadie said, not really wanting compliments.
"Yeah, no time on dwindling," Javier said as they continued up the valley.
They could hear some fighting up on the top of the valley.
"I think I hear Charles," Javier said.
"I hear him too," Sadie replied back. Two more Bounty Hunters came down the valley on horses. Javier shot at one, hitting him in the chest, but didn't kill him. Sadie, however, didn't miss her shot. The bullet pierced straight into his eye.
The Bounty Hunter that Javier failed to kill on his first shot, tried to shoot back at Javier. Aiming his gun at him. Javier was about to fire another bullet, but before he did…His trigger was stuck. His gun was jammed.
Javier cursed himself.
"¡Mierda!" Javier shouted in Spanish. But before the Bounty hunter could pull his trigger, Sadie had thrown a knife to his chest. Hitting him in the heart. Causing him to gasp, slowly falling off the horse as it rode away in fear.
Javier looked at Sadie.
"Thanks, don't know how many times I'm gonna need to get saved," Javier said.
"However many you'll need, I guess," Sadie said. She started reloading her Schofield Revolver. As she advanced further up the valley. Meanwhile, Javier was trying to fix his jammed Double-Action Revolver.
The both of them ran up a slope that led out of the valley. Two more bounty hunters came forward but were both shot dead where they stood by Sadie.
"I guess I won't have the chance to kill enough of these putos," Javier said, who hadn't even gotten the chance to look up from his gun when Sadie killed the Bounty Hunters.
"There's plenty more," Sadie said.
They ran up a little further as Charles came out from the brush. He had already killed a few Bounty Hunters himself.
"Here's Charles," Javier said.
"All good?" Charles asked as they ran side by side up to the camp.
"Wouldn't go that far," Sadie said.
"Their camp's up this way, come on," Charles said as he pulled off his bow on his shoulder. Sadie kept running forward with Javier and Charles.
"Perfect timing too, I just got my gun fixed," Javier said.
"When did that happen?" Charles asked.
"Not now, Gentlemen," Sadie said as they approached the camp.
As they ran up to the camp, there were at least seventeen Bounty Hunters waiting for them at camp. Sadie holstered her Schofield and pulled her Carbine Repeater off her shoulder. The three of them took cover as the bullets started flying.
Sadie, Charles, and Javier shot their weapons at the Bounty Hunters. Sadie hit her marks quite easily. Charles too. Javier started doing better himself. They cleared out at least seven of them before Sadie started to push forward. Shooting one on top of a wooden water tower, skewering his skull as he fell off a great height. Charles shot his bow at one. Going clean into his forehead and killing the man.
Javier shot one in the leg, causing him to fall on the ground, which was followed by another shot to the head.
The Bounty Hunters were starting to get cleared out. Only three others were left. Up on the ridge that overlooked camp, they shot down at the enemies below. Sadie pulled out a Dynamite from her satchel. She lit it and threw it at the bounty hunters on the ridge. Which caused them to duck and cover, but they reacted too late as the Dynamite exploded. Killing all three of them as their body parts exploded.
The Bounty Hunters had been cleared. Ike Skelding's boys were wiped out and taken care of. Sadie put her Carbine Repeater back on her shoulder. In the middle of the camp, dangling down from a rope, feet tied up and hanging upside down, Sean Macguire.
"Oi, who's the new gal?" Sean said in confusion. Sadie pulled out her Schofield and shot the rope, causing Sean to fall on the ground, unharmed.
"That's one way to make a bloody entrance, guns blazing and dynamite exploding, brings a good rush to a young whippersnapper," Sean said as he tried to get the ropes off his feet. Sadie shook her head with a smile.
"I can definitely see what they meant by a "real yapper"," Sadie said as she pulled out her knife and cut the rope off of Sean's feet.
"So, who's this supposed to be? Never really seen women on this front," Sean yapped on once again.
Sadie offered him her hand.
"Sadie. Sadie Adler," She replied as Sean took her hand and helped him up.
"Never seen women fight quite like that," Sean said.
"Have you ever seen women fight?" Sadie asked a rhetorical question. Which flabbergasted Sean.
"Oh…Well…No actually, Can't say that I have, *heh heh heh*, but you're a real fighter, Sadie Adler, one of kind actually. Hell, you fight better than these two men pluckers," Sean said as he gestured to Charles and Javier.
"Oh, shut up Sean," Javier said. Sadie chuckled heavily.
"Whew, you boys are something else," Sadie said in a laughing tone.
Sean looked at Sadie with almost utter victory.
"Hey, look at that, only known her for ten seconds and already wooed her!" Sean joked.
"Oh man, shut up, Sean," Charles said.
"You better not let Arthur hear that," Javier said as he grabbed Sean's shoulder and tried to get him on his horse.
"Ooohhh, that's who she is! Never knew the old bastard had it in him, he certainly picked the right one that's for sure," Sean said. Which caused Sadie to laugh even more.
"Someday you're going to get a hole in your head," Javier said.
"I loath for that day, that I do," Sean said.
"Javier, take him back to camp," Charles said as Sean mounted on Javier's horse. Javier mounted on it, with Sean in the back.
"I look forward to gettin' to know ya better, Sadie Adler. And you'll get to know plenty of good ole' Sean Macguire," Sean said to Sadie.
"I'll bet," Sadie said as she chuckled once more.
"We'll meet you back at camp, Sadie, you did good today," Charles said to Sadie.
"Thank you, Mr. Smith. You did good too," Sadie said as she patted his shoulder. Charles nodded as he mounted on Taima. Sadie's horse wasn't too far away as Charles rode off.
Sadie started looting the bodies, one by one. At least $34.12 was on the corpses combined.
Once she was done she mounted Goldlen and started to trot off away from camp.
To Be Continued…
